I've been going here for at least 25 years or more. And when covid first hit, they decided to charge $2 for a covid carry-out fee. Now, almost two years later, November 2021, they decided to change that fee to a 10% carryout fee. I have complained about the $2 fee and others have as well. So they just changed the $2 fee to a 10% "carryout fee." I can see if it was a delivery, but it wasn't. And no other businesses do that. This is the thanks they give to loyal customers after 25 to 30 years of service. They can sit there with their cute little Marquee sign outside acting so concerned about people, but their business, but as far as I'm concerned, I paid $13 for an omelette when, it was $8 on the menu and I went in to pay and the extra charge for everything including the 10% fee, was $13.71. I have been going to this place since i moved to Metairie, it is nice that they are open 24/7. Since the pandemic started ive tried to avoid eating out, and yesterday my husband and I decided to go for a late night dinner. I couldn't be more dissatisfied and disappointed. The waitress was so RUDE. And kept talking loudly bad about costumers with the cook. She never once checked on us to see if we needed anything else. (There was just another person in there playing on the machines.) well I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries (their combo for $11) and a hot chocolate. When it came time to pay she was charging us for 1 extra drink that we did not order. We asked her to have a look at it. And she said that she was right because the hot chocolate was not included on the combo and she had to charge me for the fries. Which however is included on the combo. After a 30 second "let's try something different" discussion we turned around and went back. Not a high rent place but service was quick, coffee was hot and good, apple and pecan pies were served hot and were good. Not excellent. We met a couple that came in and knew the owner Mike. This place was packed with customers when we first walked in, which seemed to be a good sign. The waitstaff is friendly (despite a sign outside promising "The only thing worse than our food is our service!"). Our food came quickly and was average at best. Outside the building is painted the slogan, "The place to be when every other place is closed." It's the first sign giving you a glimpse into how the owners apparently aren't good at examining things from alternate perspectives and seeing whether the wisdom of their dictates stand the test of time. As a last resort place to eat? Tic Toc Cafe is certainly acceptable (not that you have a choice in their ideal scenario apparently.. ) But I guess if the far-superior "City Diner" across the street that's also open 24/7 burns down, you know where to go. Good thinking! The food here is typical diner food. It's not bad; it's not awesome, there's really nothing special. The service is friendly and what you'd expect for a local diner. Again nothing remarkable. What stands out here isn't the food. It's the ambiance. It starts out with the "right wing version of Deep Thoughts" they routinely post on their outdoor signage, which over time has mellowed a bit to appear apolitical or sports-related, but one step into the restaurant proper and you'd think these people are busy building a doomsday bunker in the back. Early versions of this restaurant featured a wall of clocks (hence the name "Tic Toc Cafe") Now they should rename this place something like, "Get Right With God Cafe!" based on the religious propaganda spread throughout the place, from the four foot ceramic statue of the virgin mary perched atop what appears to be a crystal ball, to the large wooden sign that says, "Idle hands are the devil's workshop" to the obnoxious six-foot-tall, badly-written poem spread across the back wall which is an homage to "god in the workplace" in defiance of a belittled ACLU. Really? I just wanted an omlet, not a fucking passive-aggressive sermon. But to top it all off is the surveillance system they have in this place. In most places with cameras, the cameras are pointed at the door or the cash register (they have a fake camera pointed at the cash register, but the real cameras are all pointed at the patrons, seats and booths). Not only is god watching you eat, but Big Brother as well. It's kind of disconcerting. Judging from the mentality the place excudes, I imagine there's a sawed-off shotgun behind the bar every 4 feet, so are there any people in this place giving them a hard time to the point where we need to be catalogued and DVR'd? Unfortunately, this is a good example of the side of Metairie that many New Orleaneans point to when demonizing the suburbs. A testimonial to the reality that this is the area where the locals elected David Duke into political office. This is not representative of the way Jefferson Parish really is for the most part, but it's still disappointing. If you want to run a restaurant, run a restaurant. If you want to run a church, run a church. If you want to be the American Family Institute or the JP office of the republican party, do that, but I would say, don't mingle the stuff. Not everybody that wants some eggs and bacon needs to know you think the South should have won the civil war or that the UN and the ACLU are going door-to-door to take away your bibles. In closing, let me say I can't say anything particularly bad about the service or the restaurant. And I'm not saying these people don't have a right to mix their politics and their religion with their "workplace". Go for it. And in that same spirit, I have a right to express my opinion on a web site like Yelp and say, I don't appreciate you trying to shove your self-righteous BS in my face while I'm eating. So don't get mad at me if I don't write a glowing review. Remember this is what makes Amerrrrrikka Great! So the next time I'm hungry and every other place is closed, and I'm longing to be on-camera and in the mood for an omelet with side of conservative religious propaganda from narrow-minded people who are too ignorant to recognize that the ACLU exists to defend the civil rights of ALL, not just those who would prefer to eradicate the separation of church and state, I know where I'll be eating. read more

We had been out and about playing in the French Quarter and headed back late that night. We wanted a quick bite and something light so we stopped there. So glad that we did. Great food, great service and great prices. You feel the love from the people that work there and in the food. We went back for breakfast before heading back out in the road to Florida. Great food, great prices and gracious service was what I found at Tic Toc Cafe. It is a small diner, but don't be fooled by the size. Open 24 hours and located just across the street, I made my way to the Tic Toc Cafe from the Holiday Inn Metairie. BOY was I pleased! The menu had great choices for both carnivores and vegetarians. The waitress made sure that our coffee mugs were never dry, and as my daughter stated "she gave me just what I wanted and I didn't tell her! How did she know that I wanted this?" (regarding a huge billowy spray of whipped cream on top of her hot chocolate). Ok, so I read all the reviews this morning before venturing out to this dive for breakfast. I was expecting to be witnessed to by all the religious propaganda, etc. SURPRISE! There's nothing on the walls stating religious beliefs or the Virgin Mary statue. I was ready for the masses and just experienced a basic diner. Was immediately welcomed, asked for my drink order and served. Yes, the regulars @ the bar look you over, but I would too if this were my regular haunt. Pleasant atmosphere, quick service.
