We ate at Ticino while staying in Avon during our recent Beaver Creek ski trip. We were at the Westin Riverfront and Ticino is a easy 10 minute walk or 3-4 minute drive. It's is a little hard to find and not well marked. Look for the big sign for Bob's place. Ticino is locate in the same building. The place is very small, so I highly recommend reservations. We saw many people try to just walk in and were turned away. In the summer months there is outdoor patio seating, doubling the number of tables. So reservations may be less important. We split a caprese salad which was perfect for 2 people. However, we found the fresh mozzarella to be bland, a little too soft and runny. They bring you out crusty bread fresh from their brick oven. It was hot, crusty and delicious. We also order the carne pizza. It was excellent and covered in meat toppings. Finally we had the gnocchi. It was a little heavy for gnocchi, but the sauce was excellent and perfect for dipping the crusty bread. Prices are about what you expect for a resort town. Slightly less than in the big hotels, but still on the expensive side. Overall we enjoyed Ticino and we will definitely go back the next time we are in town. read more

Ticino came highly recommend by the concierge. This was our second to the last dinner in Avon in a four day celebration for my birthday with friends from back home. It's next to Blue Plate. The place is cute. With reservations made we walked in and was seated almost immediately. Then it started. We were forgotten. The staff serving the water was the only one that keeps popping up for refills. Roots were growing...I was aging by the decades...my friends were getting restless... A new waiter was assigned to the floor that night. An hour and fifteen minutes later we finally was able to tell him what we wanted and we also found that that it's his first day and he's new to the industry. I can't help but get upset. It took us only about 15-20 minutes to eat. The rest was all about waiting. We just wanted to leave the place. The food was great but the wait was horrible! The place was a little difficult to find, but the Yelp reviews were good enough for me to keep searching and it was well worth the effort! There was free bread with olive oil. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast which came with garlic parmesan potato puree and sauteed veggies. One fear of mine when I order chicken is it'll be overcooked, but the chicken was cooked well and still juicy on the inside. crisis averted! We found Ticino on Yelp and it was literally a 3 min walk from our hotel. Inside the Avon Center, we were able to sit on the patio. The place wasn't busy and the service was impeccable - very family friendly. I believe the owner continuously walked around making sure every customer was happy. We ordered the Spinaci Salad and the Il Diavolos pizza to share. The salad was very good - spinach, pancetta bacon, onions and a vinaigrette. The pizza was spicy - the way that hubby likes them. I had to take out a few jalapeños, but I too enjoyed it. For dessert, we decided on the 3 scoop gelati of amaretto, pistachio, and salted caramel. We ate the whole thing! My wife and I ate here during our June 2022 Visit to Vail. We both had great meals. My wife had pappardelle pasta with Bolognese sauce, and she had eggplant parmigiana on top of it. She thought it was excellent. I had braised short ribs. These were amazingly tender and delicious. They came with polenta which went well with the sauce. There was also a side of flavorful roasted mixed vegetables. I loved my meal. We both had salads which were great as well. The portions were large and reasonably priced. I thought with the reviews i would love this place. Children's menu doesn't have spaghetti, so we had to buy a very small adult portion for 17.99 to split between 2 children 5 and 9. We just finished having an amazing dinner at this restaurant. Our server Luis took such good care of us, throughout the evening. We started with Burrata Caprese, which was so fresh and delicious. Next we split the Gorgonzola Pizza (we subbed the bacon for mushroom). The pizza was just what we needed, so tasty. Next we split the homemade spaghetti and eggplant Parmesan. We both felt both the eggplant Parmesan with the spaghetti covered in arrabbiata was probably the best we have ever had. For dessert, we had the salted caramel, pistachio and raspberry gelato. It too overwhelmed the pasta. Don't expect 'big-city' quality pasta dishes but take it for where you're having dinner.
