3 1/2 stars I was in the area for work with my fellow colleagues so I yelped around for a quick lunch spot. Tide has some pretty good reviews and seemed like a solid sandwich spot so we came here. Parking is a bit challenging and they have a tiny lot next door, which maybe parks 4 cars. The inside is a bit small, so you can expect it to get pretty busy during lunch hours. They have the menu on a blackboard, and it's pretty simple and straight to the point. _The Vinny G ($12) Italian roll, provolone, salami, capicola, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers, basil oil and vinegar. This was pretty solid overall, but I wish they added more basil oil and vinegar. The bread was good, although you get more bread ratio to the filling. _Charlie's Sammy ($11) Sourdough, pesto, provolone, artichoke, tomatoes, arugula, add chicken for $3. This was a flavorful sandwich but when I read pesto chicken I was hoping to really get that pesto flavor and this lacked that. It was a bit on the dry side, and definitely need more pesto sauce. The bread was good and nicely toasted. _The South Swell Pizza ($17) Marinara, mozzarella, pepperoni, pineapple, jalapeno. I love a good thin crust pizza, and their pizza was thin crust with a nice crunch to it. I love a good sweet and salty combo but this was definitely more on the salty side and I wish the cheese melted as you pulled it or bit into it, but it was a bit dry. One odd factor was when a guy came to drop off our sandwiches, we were not sure at first which was which, so when we asked him he seemed very confused and did not know himself which sandwiches he was giving to the table. It was as if he did not work there but just a random person dropping off food. read more

Stopped for a quick lunch over break and was happy with the choice. I split two sandwiches with my bf and fries and all were great! The twist on the Rueben was great, with the perfectly buttered and toasted bread, sauces flavors and great meat. The other was more Italian style and was just as great. I also loved the big pickle. The fries came out beautifully and had the coarse salt on it. The employees were very friendly as well. Looking forward to returning to try the breakfast burritos. read more

We love this place. Everything is good. So far, the tuna sandwich is our favorite and the 5 year old loves the PB& J. We still have to try the Pizza and Pasta Salads. On our last visit, we met a very nice young lady here that is probably Troy's little sister. Super nice lady. Ya gotta love a family run business that serves up fresh and good food. Hmm... My husband and I were over at the Cancer Center at Hoag for his chemo treatment and wanted to get some breakfast burritos before his treatment started. We were going to order at the cancer center's cafe because we figured anywhere else would be crowded on July 3rd. But the nurse overheard us talking and recommended TidePoole's to us so we decided to give it a try since the pictures looked really good. As my husband was getting his labs done, I left to go pick up the food. The parking here is non-existent so I was actually about to leave when I saw a small parking lot nearby (I believe for the hotel?) and parked there instead. I placed an order for the Wakey Wakey to-go and the cashier told me that it would be done in about 10-15 mins. More people started to arrive and it got a bit crowded. 10 mins passed and I see the cook place a to-go order in front of the cashier. The cashier packed it with salsa and a napkin but didn't call out the person's name. I didn't think anything of it, assuming it wasn't mine. Then a few more to-go orders came out for people that came in after me and the cashier either hand-delivered it or called the person's name out. However, the one order was still sitting in front of him. So I go up to ask and he asked if I was Melinda and said my order was ready. I asked why it wasn't given to me since it was just sitting there and he had the nerve to say "I had other things to do". I told him he didn't even bother to call my name out and he just said "sorry". I don't know why he had it out for me. Whether it's because I didn't tip him for a to-go order, because I was the only one wearing a mask to prevent catching anything and passing it along to my husband undergoing chemo, or maybe because I was the only Asian there. But I did NOT deserve the treatment that he gave me. To purposely not give me my order for no reason. I can't even give an honest review on the food because I got it so late. By the time I brought it back to eat with my husband, it was soggy and salty. I just know that I am never coming here again. read more

Love eating here because my kid has some space to roam and there's a park nearby. We can have beers, sandwiches, pizza, wings or salad. Everything we have had ordered was good quality and consistent. Got a recommendation on our last night in town for this year's trip. My wife was craving pizza and I was looking to have a hearty sandwich. Food and service were amazing. Started out with an order of wings that had all the flavor and juciness that you could ask for. My wife had the Pepperoni pizza and loved every bite of it. I had a Rueben sandwich and the flavor was amazing. Not too over powering but just the right amount of all the flavors. We will be going back there again on our next yearly outing to Newport!!! I came here hungry and left here hungry. I'm not one to give low ratings but this place's food kind of sucks. I tried the Vinny G sandwich. Let me agree with some other review i saw here and call it a "breadwich" instead. There was more bread then there was meat. They are extremely skimpy on meat. Also, the layer of pesto on the bread was so thin you could not even taste it. I am really dissapointed as I was looking forward to coming here. Was it just an off day for them? Someone confirm and deny. Because there was barely any meat and it was just like eating bread. Also the sandwich is overpriced for what little amount of food is actually on it. I'll just say that the fries were good but that's about it. The service is fast and they are kind but whoever is telling the chefs to skimp out on meat is taking a big L. Great location! Right across the street from the beach! Reminds me of the old days hanging out having a beer with your surf buddies. The the ambience is of beach & sports vibe! Relaxing. This was a great find for me. I passed by here all the time and kept saying I needed to stop here. Well, I finally did, and what a find. First off, it's really small, but you know what they say, good things come in small packages. And this is one of those places. Note that there's limited seating here. So you might want to get it to go. They have a nice simple menu with some really tasty choices. I had a breakfast burrito with sausage and bacon, and it really hit the spot. Oh, and the salsa, they definitely put some effort into making that very good salsa!!! Now the burrito is good size, so you might want to split it. Now the restaurant is on PCH, so you might fly right past it. Being the speed limit is 50 mph, there. So keep a sharp eye out. Anyway, i can't wait to go back and try everything else. read more
