Business casual to fancy restaurant. Prices are not low but the seafood is amazing. The clam chowder is phenomenal although the portion could be a bit larger. If it's just two of you, be sure to try the tasting tower which has pretty much everything to satisfy a seafood craving. Had a wonderful dinner Saturday night. The hostess Janet was so nice and respected our need for a quiet table. The food was very good. My only complaint is that the Caesar salad lettuce was too big and hard to cut. Gnocchi was a stand out along with the Filet which was cooked perfect. The service was ok. We ordered the starters which were pretty good at the start bur, when the steak came it was bland, charred, and overcooked. My steak was supoosed to be medium rare but was not. We had an excellent dinner and experience at Tides tonight. We felt welcomed and so well taken care of from the moment we walked in. My husband and I were dining with our 1 year old in a stroller. I am always appreciative of staff accommodating of little ones. The weather was lovely so we opted for a table on their patio but the interior is gorgeous and spacious. Can't go wrong with a table anywhere. We started with cocktails, shishito peppers and a caesar salad. Entrees, we did the king louis salad and salmon dish. The salmon was really the standout. Perfectly cooked, with tender mushrooms all on a pea puree. Couldn't resist dessert once we saw the menu. If we had more room in our bellies we'd have ordered one of each from a clearly genius pastry chef. Our service from start to finish was really lovely. We loved our experience with our server Patty who was attentive and friendly. This restaurant is a great addition to Danville and clearly has some incredible talent behind the bar, in the kitchen and at the front of house. We will definitely be back! read more

Did I really get charged an extra buck for blackening. Ridiculous pricing. Would not return. The salmon was four ounces tor $36. With two tiny slices of potato and a piece of red pepper that fell off the string. Sauce was the saving grace. They won't grill a prawn. It's premade and blanched. Ick. read more

Brendan was great service and had lots of tasty honest recommendations. We went in with little expectations and his blew our socks off! Started with the seafood tower and crab cake. The Salmon and Sea Bass entrees were absolutely perfect as well. Highly recommend this new restaurant. This is a relatively new restaurant with great location, nice interior design and reasonably priced great food with detailed taste. Tried the tartare, scallops, oysters and branzino. Oh! Came here when visiting my parents and while the ambiance is stunning and everything is clean, they're a bit slow and staff seem unorganized. We made reservations but weren't seated until 45 minutes after. As compensation for the tardiness they offered us "complimentary" bread... come to find out the bread is free regardless, not to mention over baked; came out cold and tough. The food is decent but not worth the price considering two of the three main courses came out cold (assuming they were waiting for the scallops because that was the only hot dish). The squid ink parp does NOT have any squid in the actual dish (which it is photographed in one of their photos on yelp, but not listed in the menu ingredients). The desserts were, and usually are, the best part of the meal. They're a bit small for the price but delicious nonetheless. Don't really see myself coming back as there are plenty of other seafood spots around the east bay and I didnt feel the meal was worth $250. read more

I never give reviews, ok, rarely! We had dinner at Tides to celebrate a big work anniversary. We love sea food and had been wanting to try Tides for awhile. We had the shrimp appetizer and the scallops. These were the best cooked and seasoned scallops I've ever had. So good in fact I changed my entree order to one that included more scallops. Service, ambiance, drinks to dessert excellent. A wonderful surprise to find such a fabulous place in my hometown. read more

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now and finally had the chance to on Thursday night. It was a last minute reservation, but when I called Janet the hostess made it happen for us! When we arrived, she made the experience very special as if we were regulars there. I've lived in the area for 27 years and have always had restaurants feel welcoming. This restaurant felt unwelcoming, was cold, and lacked heart. There were people working there, so they weren't understaffed, but they didn't seem to care when customers walked in. A simple hello and an I'll be with you in a moment would have been a fair expectation, but there was a total lack of acknowledgment. We left after sitting there for five minutes and walked down the street to one of the other excellent restaurants in the area and had an outstanding experience. We went last night with a couple friends to celebrate my husband's birthday and loved it. The short version is 4.95 stars. Would 100% return. Downtown Danville was in need of a fresh new restaurant that could rival going to SF or WC. Kayla was our server and she was so nice. We felt welcomed, always had our glasses full and explained which items were seasonal and would be leaving the menu. We had the clam chowder, caesar salad and brussel sprouts. The chowder was beautifully presented, full of clams, rich and tasty. Same with the salad, beautiful but nothing that makes me say omg the best salad ever. The sprouts had a fabulous aioli and the veggies were a good size, I wish they were crispier. I prefer a chip like sprout vs more tender. 2 of our party had the sea bass, 1 had salmon and the other had scallops. I initially ordered the salmon and it was delicious, well seasoned, perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the sauce and potatoes...normally I'm a sea bass girl and I saw our friend and my husband eating it and I got jealous so hubs and I swapped. The sea bass also didn't disappoint, sweet, flaky and so good, the puree was also really good. My perfect meal would have been the sea bass on top of the salmon sauce but that's just me. I'm allergic to scallops so I didn't try the risotto but it looked really good and our friend enjoyed his meal. For dessert we ordered 2 bread puddings and all I could say was damn. It was sharable but I didn't want to. If you've read my previous reviews you'll know I'm a a big dessert girl but since I'm a baker I'm very particular...this was a hit. There was a good balance of apples to bread and the caramel sauce was just enough to get a taste when you wanted it and not so much it drowned the whole dessert. So why the minus .5? The floor had a loose uneven tile/board where we were. It's a safety concern and although there was a giant cone alerting the hazard my personal opinion is they should have closed the table down rather than have a 2-4 top next to it. I only say this because it's wet out and folks may have wet shoes since the table is so close to the door. It's not only a trip hazard but also a slip hazard. read more

It's a pretty average restaurant. We went on a Friday night; the restaurant was busting with fish flavors when we entered - we might want to tone down the overwhelming fish smell when someone enters the restaurant. Service was delayed by at least 15 minutes. We ordered the following. 1. Crab cakes - overcooked and lots of stuffing compared to crab 2. Seafood Ceviche - it did not make sense to have sea bass as the fish in this dish. It did not take on the flavors for this dish 3. Ceasar salad - this was by far the worst dish. Whole lettuce stems, which were hard to cut even with stake knives, run-of-the-mill dressing, cold croutons, stale cheese 4. Fuchsia break (complimentary) - this was super cold and appeared stale. This is the easiest dish on the menu; at least have this freshly made. 5. Squid ink pasta with mussels - we loved this dish. It was a source to our taste but not too bad. 6. Red wind and cocktail - this was the best part of the meal. Overall, for the price-to-taste ratio, this restaurant does not compare to the competition in other places in Danville. Beautifully plated fresh seafood expertly prepared! The compact menu has excellent options in all categories. I gave 5 Stars to both the Sea Bass & Scallops. They were prepared with a perfect sear on the outside that yielded to a buttery tender texture in the body and they were irresistibly delicious! The Lemon Chiffon Blueberry Compote dessert was almost too pretty to eat, but once we started, we couldn't stop. The staff were all professional and appropriately friendly.
