Fresh ingredients. Friendly service. Been craving some poke and this place just opened, so we decided to give it a try. We were pretty hungry so we decided to order by the pound haha. You can pick from a variety of meat, toppings and sauces. We chose the tuna. Everything in the tuna bowl tasted amazingly fresh. Always tough deciding which of the toppings to get, but adding fresh mango to balance out the saltiness is a nice touch. Looking forward to trying more on their menu soon. read more

Initially I felt apprehensive about going here, I honestly didn't think this poke place would compete with Uroko cafe. This was actually a pleasant alternative. A lot of poke places in Orange County serve more sushi inspired poke. Tiger plate definitely tries to keep their poke based on Hawaiian flavors and ingredients. Fish was fairly fresh and the flavor of the spicy poke was delightful. Seaweed salad was booty though! It had way too much of a bite, chewing on it was like chewing undercooked pasta. Came by for lunch with a friend. Ordering was relatively quick and easy! Staff was also friendly. I ordered the citrus ponzu bowl and it was pretty decent. My friend and I did the Yelp check-in so we also got free drinks with our lunch. I docked off a star because I thought the bowl was pretty pricey for what it was. I'm used to paying $12-15 dollars for a bowl that size, but whatever. The place was clean and there were tables indoors & outdoors! It was a nice place to eat at and catch up with my friend. There's plenty of parking in the plaza, but may get full during peak hours! I may come here again if I'm in the area to try the poke nachos, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

My friend and I were looking for a place to have a late lunch and decided to give it a try Tiger Plate since the place was still full of people, even though it was Sunday afternoon. I usually go to North Shore but during the CNY weeks, they were out of salmon a lot or their hours are just funky and they are closed Monday-Wednesday or something. Tiger Plate just replaces it during all the later night hours or early in the week when North Shore is not open. Still have spicy mayo (like the Waimea) and you can add masago and onions like the og sauce they used to have at north shore. That being said, this place has tasty hand rolls also! So far I'm happy with my Sweet and Spicy Yuzu Poke Bowl and my husband got the Traditional Shoyu Poke Bowl. Though mine was really good, lots of toppings(love the crab) and all, the Flavor or the marinate for the traditional shoyu was more savory(?) aaaaand blue crab hand roll was really good too. Though I've only tried from a handful of places so far. This is my first for blue crab. Spam + Avocado Musubi was good. Last but not least the shaved ice was a happy surprise! It was really good! The texture and flavor. Though it was just mango + condensed milk it was really satisfying. I love it. It's not the typical shaved ice for sure! It's like a creamy shaved ice. I really like their poke! Their Ponzu is a little spicy for me but since I'm bringing it home I can use my own. I like salmon, Masago, seaweed, cucumber. If I'm getting musubi's, I don't need the rice. I like that you can buy it by the pound or half pound and get a lot more protein. Their shave ice is like nothing I've ever had before super soft snow with one flavor added that's not super sweet or drippy. The dole whip added is the bomb! The store was packed when I got in while two were in the back making bowls so I knew this was a good spot to hit up. Here's what I ordered: 6 oz bowl with white rice, ahi tuna, green onion, white onion, cucumber, edamame, seaweed salad, and sesame seed. Oh man, everything was so fresh, including the protein. For the price you're paying, it was definitely worth it. I ordered the same exact bowl for my mom but with romaine lettuce and salmon. I have no complaints whatsoever. My friend decided on the spicy mayo poke and avocado spam musubi. The food came out fairly shortly and we went to town. It was pretty good. My friend failed to notice that the spicy mayo contained shrimp and she's allergic! She made me eat a few of her shrimp until I couldn't any longer. The spicy mayo also had fish in it but I guess she should have asked initially if it contained shrimp. It actually says it on the menu but the lettering is small. No worries, she's okay. It's alright. Their signature bowls taste pretty plain and unless you get extra sauces on the side ( which cost extra) there's not really any flavor to the bowl. Would most likely go somewhere else where their toppings taste better and aren't as bland. Especially for about $20 a bowl I'd want it to taste great . Save your money. read more

Tried this place out and was happy to hear they are using fresh tuna (not frozen), just like the previous business North Shore Poke was. Poke bowls are reasonably priced, and what did it for me was the rice. It is good quality and I think they put some subtle seasoning on it that enhances the flavor. Rice is one of those things that doesn't make the bowl, but it can definitely ruin it if good quality is not used. I'll definitely be trying them out again. read more

I got the medium bowl, and the first thing i've noticed is the sad amount of fish portions... Out of all the pokes I've tried in this area, this is seriously a 2 star only poke. They put a lot of brown rice which doesn't even taste good, and the fish is not as fresh comparing to other poke places. For the same price I will rather go to Poki Tiki, Poke Works or Poketown. Came here on a hot day to get some cool treats. We were craving dole whip and was looking for a Disneyland alternative since we haven't been there in a long time. The dole whip was decent but not as good as Disneyland's, I had the mango and thought it was enjoyable. We didn't realize about the yelp checkin to get a free drink til later but when we asked about it they said it was 1 per order! So if you go, split up the orders so each person can get a free drink. Also the hours on yelp said they were open til 8 on some days but when we went a previous day the sign at the store said they closed at 7:30. So while I went next door to Dough & Arrow to get a cookie, he was talking to a couple eating outside at Tiger Plate. As soon as I walked out, he didn't say anything but just handed me our dog's leash and went in and ordered the Citrus Ponzu cuz that's what the couple were eating and he wanted some . He came out a couple minutes later with a big smile on his face. PROS: Portions are good here, they are pretty generous. Salmon was fresh. Favorite sauce so far: Spicy Shoyu. I love that Nacho chips is an option of base because it adds texture to the mix. Friendly and attentive staff. CONS: This is the first time I've seen masago cost extra to add as a topping, which I was not fond of. I did not like that the cucumbers were cut into strips and I wish it was mixed in the sauce with the fish, which I feel would have made everything taste way better. I have always hated when poke places put extra cost to add avocado to a bowl, but I understand that avocados are pretty expensive and it's only $0.50 extra opposed to other places charging $1 to $1.50. My friend and I were looking for a local place that sold dessert, as he wanted to treat me before my birthday. I searched around for shaved ice places and this poke restaurant offered the dessert. Located in the same plaza as Capitol, Hakata Ikkousha, and Dough and Arrow, you can either park in the regular self-park spots or in valet. (The latter is free - make sure to tip the valet before you leave.) It's not too bad if you come before a peak meal time and I've generally had good luck finding parking. The shaved ice involves choosing a base flavor for the ice, sauce, and toppings. My friend and I got strawberry with condensed milk, Oreos, and Special K strawberry cereal. The price was very fair for the shaved ice dessert. (I've been to places where they charge a minimum of $10 for the dessert, due to the size and add-ons included.) The texture is like ribbons versus a snow shave style and it made for a light dessert. Not overly sweet but it was delicious and the perfect size to share. read more
