I have eaten here twice and the quality was very good both times. fish is fresh, good amount of crab, veggies were plentiful. Overall its a higher quality, priced poke bowl. only reduced 1 star for the absolutely horrendous parking, higher prices and smaller bowls than you can get elsewhere. Overall, I would definitely continue coming here if you don't mind the above issues. Overall an A experience just based on the food alone. read more

I have been in the area to work with some clients the last couple of months and after my first visit this has been my go to location for lunch whenever I am in the area. I have always placed an order for delivery with a colleague so I have never actually been to the location in person so I am not sure how the location itself looks/is run. However, our orders are typically large for 7-10 people and we have never had any issue. Each bowl is made perfectly never rushed and have never had any issue with anything missing always plenty of napkins/utensils too. You can tell the quality of fish is good because it always taste fresh. Personally the Small size is perfect for me and I always feel perfectly full. I love alternating between the ahi tuna and the salmon and their sauces add the perfect marinate for the fish. I recommend the spicy shoyu and mayo! I think other than the spam musubi, this place isn't for me. Hand rolls and tiger wrap big lack of seasoning. Fish seemed lower quality than previous. The warm, raw, fish in the tiger wrap was pretty unpleasant. read more

The place is small and you probably should be sure to bring a jacket cuz it is freezing inside. Perhaps it helps keep the poke fresher longer. My friends and I had to go back to our cars to grab a jacket. As far as the poke...It was delicious, no doubt but the portion sizes were extremely small for the price you pay. The selection of poke is even smaller. Only choices were plain salmon, plain tuna, shrimp and tofu. That's it. Other places have a lot more selection than that. Or you can pay extra and get some blue crab, which I opted to do. Again, could've gotten much more selection, quantity and same quality elsewhere. read more

I came here for poke, but I wasn't confident that the amount of poke in the menu items would have been worth it. If I recall, the normal items had a "large" amount of poke, or 6 oz. The weight makes it hard to compare to other shops that use the number of scoops. For example, the poke place by where I live would have offered 5 scoops for about the same price as Tiger Plate's signature bowls. According to Google, the typical poke scoop accounts for 1.5-4 oz. However, the scoops Poke Co. use are rather large, and sometime they even give extra scoops. Of course, I have no comment about freshness since I've never tried Tiger Plate poke. It turned out that the poke by the pound consists of fish only, and that all the other ingredients would cost extra. In my opinion, this menu is kind of gimmicky. The cashier let out an audible sigh when I indicated I was no longer interested in the poke. Instead, I bought a couple avocado and spam musubis. The review rating takes into account several factors. The fact that I think the poke menu is questionable is buoyed by the staff's super friendly, enthusiastically helpful and talkative attitude, and that the musubis were absolutely delicious. Coming out of the store, I felt that the interaction literally brightened my day, which has only happened several times in my Yelp experience. P.S. I bought a Unicorn Tear CBD drink for 5 bucks, which is the most I've ever spend for a can of carbonated water with barely any flavoring. I bought it for the name, and what I got was a can with a cool name. The liquid was kind of a joke. I would not recommend this drink to anyone. read more

The best poke place in the area hands down. They definitely stand out from the other run of the mill poke places. If you like your poke with simple, yet fresh and quality ingredients Tiger Plate is perfect. The sauces here taste great without overwhelming the fish. I highly recommend the poke tacos as the spicy mayo sauce works well with the poke, cabbage, and onions in it. If you check in on Yelp, you can also try one of their drinks. I got the green tea lychee and while it is canned, I've never seen them sold anywhere else and its a nice complement to fhe meal. As far as safety with coronavirus in mind, they all have masks on and have hand sanitizers for customers choosing to dine in. Really nice people! Not a lot of seats due to social distancing reasons and also the restaurant isn't very big, but their food is perfect for to go. read more

Though I am an avid yelp reader, I don't usually write reviews myself but I haven't stopped thinking about this poke bowl since I had it yesterday... My friend and I were craving a poke bowl after a workout so we decided to try this place for the first time and it really exceeded our expectations! Even though I like sushi, I usually get tired of eating a poke bowl halfway through but I finished everything here. I ordered a medium sized make your own with tuna and salmon with my choice of toppings with the sweet and spicy yuzu (it wasn't spicy which i liked) and my friend ordered one of their large signature bowls (spicy chili bowl) and the poke tacos. The portions were very generous so we were very full by the end. We were very surprised by how they cut the fish into large chunks -- felt like we were getting great value (-:. I also liked how the bowl was served in a rectangulqr plate/bowl as it made it easier to eat. We finished the meal with the milk shaved ice with oreo crumbles which was great as well. The shaved ice was very soft and melted in our mouths. The workers were also really nice which is always appreciated Highly highly recommend - it is now my go-to poke spot!! read more

We tried this place over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. Parking was a bit tight given all the restaurants in the same plaza but we easily found a spot on a Sunday at lunch time. We got a pound of salmon and a pound of poke -- both types of fish were fresh and the sauces complimented them perfectly. I choose spicy mayo as my sauce with furikake and cucumber as my toppings. So yummy! Definitely stopping by here again. read more

service: Friendly -++Spicy and sweet yuzu: All the sauce are at the bottom of the box, it's hard to mix the rice with sauce because the plate is very shallow. I don't like drained rice and fish meat in the sauce but here in Tiger plate? you need the sauce, because their food is very bland. Without the sauce, the entire plate is tasteless. I don't like overly sweetened or salty food, but I don't like them tasteless as well. Salmon is fresh, cutting is good, shrimp is juicy and sweet, blue crab is a bit fishy, I think they are using Palmer mango, mango meat is too sour and hard, rice is lacking of water, it's too dry, cucumber is dry. --+Spicy chili: Not spicy at all. The spicy level in their food is pretty funky. The spiciness is 1/50 of a sweet red pepper. The same as their other other items, the dish lack flavors, it's almost tasteless and the rice is so dry. ---Spam musubi: Boring and the spam is very salty. The rice didn't cover the saltiness of the Spam. ---Spicy shoyu: Not spicy at all and the macadamia nuts that covered the plate makes the food look undesirable and the texture didn't go with poke as well. Very generous with the tender sweet shrimp, tuna comes in a good size too. Will never order this again. read more

One of my fave poke spots in OC! My go to flavors are the spicy Terri which is a mixture of teriyaki sauce and spicy mayo + the Yuzu. The Yuzu is more refreshing and has a citrus taste to it. I love how this place doesn't overwhelm you with toppings. If you're extra hungry, add a side of poke nachos. It's soooo good. read more

Absolutely my favorite poke place, I'm pretty particular about my poke as well. Love all their sauces, but my favorite is their spicy yuzu (goes really well with shrimp). They don't skimp on the avacado like other places as well. Staff is super friendly and always attentive. read more

Spicy shoyu (4/5): the shoyu sauce has good umami flavor. The poke itself (tuna+salmon) is not bad , was soft and tender with bouncy texture. The cucumber was dry and avocado was not that ripe. I really like the crunchy onion bits, helped give the bowl some crunchy textures. Overall a great poke bowl compared to others and would like to try other bowls when Im in the area. Mango shaved ice + pineapple dole (4.5/5): really good strong mango flavor and shaved ice was soft and melts in the mouth. The dole was really good too, tastes like any dole you would get. read more

A place where I don't have to worry about Carol Baskin! Highly recommend adding mango for subtle sweetness. The fish here is fresh and the quality is something you can taste, way better than most poke places I've been to and it's not overly saucy. They charge by ounces and not scoops for the fishes btw. Their snow is definitely delicious! Fresh and fluffy, definitely eat it there unless you want cold soup by the time you get home. 10/10 would take home and smash multiple times a week. Took off stars bc they didn't put in the masago and any garnishes that I asked for. Taste is decent; fish is fresh (salmon), and greens were ample in the bowl. There wasn't that much rice/base compared to other poke joints. Rice was also a bit too mushy. I'll stick to low-key poke for now for value and taste. read more

So glad to see they are open. This is seriously the best Poke around...and this from a guy that was not a Poke fan until I came here. Everyone here makes you feel at home and can guide you to make the experience the best possible. My fav OC poke. I'd also like to add that they have sanitizer at every table, which are distanced 6' apart and someone was continually cleaning the door and counters. Great job staff!! The dish included Salmon, Shrimp, White rice, Green and White onions, Cucumber, Avocado, imitation Crab, Mango, Masago, and Sesame Seeds. I have to say, there wasn't anything particularly "wrong" or "bad" about the food or service. However, personally, I felt that there could have been more sauce or flavor to enhance the overall experience. Considering the price of $17, I had expected a bit more in terms of portion size and taste. The shrimp was a tad rubbery, and the portion itself was on the smaller side. In hindsight, I think I would have been happier opting for the premade sushi at Mitsuwa market. I don't want to discourage anyone from giving Tiger Plate a try. They were so bad I did go up and request a refund, which they did do for me. We came in 15 minutes before closing so the place was empty and they were starting to sweep and clean up. The inside dining area is a pretty decent size and tables are spaced apart and they have a lot of unused space. There is a random bar stand there too . They have a cute theme and decor with a boxing ring picture painted on the wall where you can take selfies. However, throughout our time there a horrible sewer or dirty water smell would come through our noses. Not sure if this was due to their back door being open or if it was coming from their cleaning stuff. It was very off putting and made us want to hurry and leave. We were super excited to try this new place and had high hopes based upon the menu. However we were very disappointed in the food and in eating inside. Sad that the best part of the meal that tasted great was the Mexican Coke. The tots were also ok. Overall, we will most likely not return here, which is a bummer as we are in this area at least once a month or more and wanted another option of a place to eat .
