    Poke 4 oz Bowl
    Deb H.

As much as I love Tiger Plate, I am 0/4 for getting my order right the past 4 times I've been here so I have to downgrade the stars for the bad service. 5 stars for taste, 2 stars for service (friendly nice service but horrible at getting orders right). Literally zero of my last 4 visits here have they gotten my order correct which is inexcusable because I park, walk inside the restaurant, order with the man who takes my order on the computer and then I look at the order and look at my receipt and my order is correct but then that man never makes my order right! The first two times this happened I didn't realize until I had driven like 10minutes away so I just suffered. The third time this happened I remembered and checked my order in the parking lot then walked right back in and had him give me all the items he left off. The fourth time it happened was today and I forgot they perpetually get my order wrong and I had already gotten home by the time I opened my order = Aghghghhhh So frustrating!! And it isn't like that man just forgets my furikake or something minor.....he forgets major things where I just have a skeleton of a poke bowl: Today for example I only got: 2 scoops of salmon, 1 scoop of imitation crab and 1 scoop of seaweed salad. That is it! Just 3 things in my poke bowl!!! That's egregious these errors! I was missing 1 scoop of fish and like all of my add ons and I didn't even get a base so my bowl was so empty! It's a shame because he's always nice but jeez after 4 times in a row that is unacceptable and I am super annoyed!

    Traditional Shoyu (6oz)

I came here during my lunch break at work to satisfy a poke craving. I'm not sure how to feel about it... I saw that this place had good reviews and the photos looked pretty appetizing so I wanted to try it for myself. I got the traditional shoyu and subbed tuna out for salmon. I was not expecting the protein to be that heavily drenched with soy sauce. It was actually pooled at the bottom of the plate, even drenching the rice and became the sole overwhelming flavor. The service was good. The worker was friendly and helpful when I had questions. There's a few tables inside but maybe don't bring a big group. It can be somewhat loud since music is playing and also depending on if others are inside the restaurant. For perspective, there were only two other people in the restaurant and I could hear their voices echoing when I sat on the other side. Mind you, they weren't speaking that loudly either. Overall, I can't say I can recommend this just yet, but I do want to give it another try and try something else off the menu and see if my opinion changes.

Poke By Pound Medium Size (12oz) with Tuna and Salmon. Add their freshly made Tortilla Chips. Yummy!

Poke and Nachos! I never knew such a combination was so good until I tried Tiger Plate way back. I have been here several times and the poke has always been fresh. I like to order the kids size Poke Nachos when you are not super hungry or by the pound (12 oz which is enough for 3-4 people) and add their freshly made tortilla. I've ordered online and in person and the service has been great. There are some seating inside but not much. The good 1. Salmon & Tuna - These are my go to proteins. They have always been fresh with that slight melting in your mouth sensation. 1. Spicy Mayo + Sweet & Spicy Yuzu - This is my go to sauce! I love this mix. Though I like to kick it up a notch by adding some more siracha sauce. 2. Variety of Toppings and Garnishes - I love the variety and like to add practically all of them!

Spicy Mayo (6oz) & Avocado Musubi

A nice little poke shop for poke lovers to try out. They also have some varieties of spam Musubi to try out as well. You can either build your own bowl or try one of their many specialty bowls. It was a hard choice for me but I tried their Spicy Mayo Bowl and a Spam Avocado Musubi to go along with it. Unlike most poke places, here the bowl are made in the back where you don't get to see them build your bowl. The Spam Musubi was delicious. Just the right freshness and I loved the fact that it wasn't pre-made and wrapped in saran wrap just to be microwaved. The Spicy Mayo bowl was tasty too. It had a nice touch with the macadamia nuts and the spice level was just good.

Tuna handroll ($6) was packed with tuna and tasted solid. Would get again at this location.

Was working in town and decided to get some yummy food. This small restaurant has about 20 seats. Island vibe! I got the spicy mayo bowl and I had to try their spam musubi with avocado. I spent $32 bucks with tip and a drink. Service was top notch and helpful. The spam musubi was a meal in itself, but I had to go for the bowl. Delicious! Layers of flavor with seaweed salad, cucumber, avocado, spicy tuna, shrimp, and rice. It was Da Bomb!!

The workers were friendly as soon as we walked in. So off the bat, we felt welcome. It's a little small but they have a few small tables to dine in. I ordered the poke nachos ($11). It was delicious and the tuna tasted fresh. I'd come back again.

    Kids bowl with salmon poke
    Melanie G.

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile and it didn't disappoint! Very kind server (might have been the owner?). Not busy on a Friday around 2. I got the kids bowl which in total only comes out to a little over $11 - that's really good for a poke bowl nowadays, especially because this place gives unlimited toppings. The portion for the kids size is a lot too and they don't skimp on fish or any other toppings! Their fish is fresh and soft. Would come back if in the area!

    Medium Bowl
    Sharona M.

It was my first time here and I just wanted a quick lunch. It's a small little shop (ps, next door there is ice cream too lol). I ordered a medium bowl which I think is 4 oz of fish. You get to pick 1 dressing and I chose spicy mayo. Unlimited toppings. They had mango and I always love putting mango on top of my poke. Unfortunately, they were out of it. I hope next time I come they have it. I found the portion to be kind of small compared to other poke places, but personally I still left full. (Tbh american portion sizes are crazy, so this was a proper amount of food) lol. They also have sushi rolls here which was cool. Food came out super fast. I also ate it super fast. Easy parking. I would recommend giving it a try for a quick, no frills poke bowl if you're in the area.

    Tammy V.

Came here to try their poke since it was recommended by a friend and it was pretty decent. I really enjoyed the combination of their sauces and poke together. I can't say it's one of the best I've had, but it wasn't too bad. For the price, I did expect it to taste a bit better, with more varieties. Their tuna was also slightly frozen, and their fish didn't taste as fresh as the other poke places I've been to. They also charge you for water sadly. However service was great, and it's a cute little spot. Not sure if I would come back.

Tuna Handrolls & poke 4 oz Bowl
    Bianca M.

This place is AMAZING! HUGE tuna roll, decent size poke bowl & everything tasted SO GOOD. There was only one man working and he was super friendly, accommodating as it was my first time there and checked in with multiple people eating there. I came later in the day, but I can't wait to make this my go-to lunch spot.

Kids CYOB (bottom) & medium CYOB
    Kelly K.

SO good, fish was melt in your mouth and very fresh. Flavors of the sauces were done well and were well balanced with all the proteins & toppings. We got the kids & medium sized CYOB and portion was generous without being overwhelming.

8/20/24 (tue): Kids 3oz BYOB w/ Salmon & Tuna! Sooo worth it & yummy!!
    Mimi L.

I love poke and this TG hits the spot!! I like their menu options and specifically for the CYOB in which you can choose from the 3oz, 4oz or 6oz bowls ranging from cost of $10.50 to $16.40. To cost-save on eating but still provided with a great taste - I typically go for the Kids (3oz) bowl @ $10.50 - a perfect portion for me! I also do LOVE their Poke Nachos @ $10.50. This is the place to get it! Their tortilla chips are thick and generally holds most of the crunch even after 1/2 hour - 1 hour of not eating it immediately. It reminds me of the poke nachos from Poke to the Moon (closed earlier this year). I typically order online for pick-up because I get to control the customizations to my liking. Under Special Requests - they allow you to choose Light Sauced (Mixed), Extra Sauce (Mixed) or Separate Base/Fish and they allow you to select a sauce if you want it to drizzle over your bowl. I love sauces so I take advantage when I can. For their rewards program, for every visit you make you earn 1 point. When you get to 10 points you get 10% off the entire sale or 20% of entire sale when you collect 20 points. Sometimes they'll email out discounts - just gotta keep an eye out for those. So worth using. Oh check in on Yelp app and you do get a free soda can drink. Great location in Costa Mesa on Bristol. Parking can be a bit tough to find if you go during their busy rush times and weekend. If you're a poke lover you gotta try Tiger Plate!

6 oz Bowl Base: White rice/cucumber. Protein: Tuna/Salmon. Sauce: Spicy Shoyu/Spicy Mayo drizzle. All toppings. Avocado. All garnishes.

They do have them where I'm at in Las Vegas, but I have yet to visit any of those establishments. I was super hungry and thought I want to go try that rib sandwich. Place is easy to find right off 17th Street. You really can't miss it with that big sign. And the building is definitely unique as well so you shouldn't have any problem finding it Inside you can either choose to go digital and and skip talking to a real person. I'm old school, I actually like engaging with people. So I went to the counter. I ordered the rib sandwich without looking, and was a little shocked by the total. The sandwich itself is 15 bucks, I ordered a small fry which was $4.50, and a small drink which was $4. With a 15% tip my total came out to $28. Definitely a little shell-shocked by that. Now let's talk about the sandwich. It came to the table and at first glance it looked very small. When I picked it up there was a very generous portion of rib meat inside like a big chunk of rib meat. Huge pickles and a lot of sauce. It was a great sandwich. Do not get me wrong, what I ordered again? Maybe. They don't really have a meal deal that includes fries and a drink so it's sort of all a la carte. Now let's talk about the taste. The fries were perfectly cooked, and the sandwich itself was a solid 10. That being said, I would definitely feel more comfortable paying $12 for this sandwich, as I think 15 is a little exuberant. And you don't really get that many fries for $4.50. I can't imagine what the meal deal would have been, but I'm sure people would absolutely balk at that price. I would have given it a five-star review, but that is way too much for that sandwich. As delicious as it was, I just don't feel right spending that much for a sandwich. If it could be reworked, and the price dropped down I would be all in in a heartbeat. Bottom line? If you've been wanting to try it, I say go ahead. Just be warned that you could be unpleasantly surprised unless you know what the prices are you're getting into.

All of a sudden a worker walks up to the other side use the key to open the door but ignores us and makes ice cream for herself. I got to the door she goes in and makes ice cream and when I pop my head in there to ask her if they're open, she said that she's on a 10 minute break. They had only been open for an hour and are already closed, even though store hours said they're open. So my wife and kids and I waited as she walked in and out, not trying to acknowledge us. Super weird experience really bad customer service. We've been coming all the time and this is the first time we've ever experienced this.

Absolutely LOVE this place!…read more They have more flavors than any frozen yogurt shop I know, and I especially appreciate the huge selection of no-sugar-added options. There truly is something for everyone. The owner is incredibly attentive and clearly takes pride in the business. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely sweet. The topping bar is amazing, with endless choices to customize your yogurt exactly how you like it. And if that isn't enough, they also have a candy-by-the-pound section that is hard to resist. Great flavors, great variety, and great people. This is one of those places we find ourselves coming back to again and again!

Place had a lot of people in it which is always a good sign for frozen yogurt place, so I grabbed a cup and went and checked out my choices. I opted for Georgia, peach and strawberry shortcake, a very good combination. And deciding to be healthy. I threw some blueberries on top. I will say this, they definitely have a lot of toppings so you definitely have so many choices, you definitely want to come back more than one time. Bottom line? Of all the places that I've seen on 17th Street for a great cup of frozen yogurt America's cup definitely has it going on. I would highly recommend this place and I will be back again!

There are benches across the window so you can kind of hang out there or walk up/down the fun little street while enjoying your treats which are served in separate paper boats for easy handling. Service was great. You can either order from the window or order inside but that's probably more for ice cream. Service was quick. I ordered from the window and they made your banana right in front of you. Then you pay. Easy peasy. Although both places I tried were excellent, I prefer Dad's because: 1. Banana came in different sizes. 2. The banana was more ripe and sweet. 3. They had a better variety of toppings/coatings like almond, granola, and coconut. But the butter brickle topping that was so yummy! We don't have anything like this in the SF Bay Area so I was in heaven! I would come back here next time!

They've got all sorts of different options for the frozen banana, including Oreo, toffee, chocolate chips, sprinkles, or a combination of a whole bunch of stuff. This is one of two banana places, but in my opinion, this place is superior. Everyone's going to have an opinion about that of course. But it's a classic environment and you can also get ice cream there. Overall, five stars and unnecessary stop on any trip to Balboa Island.
