Sunday morning- 9:30am. Prime time, I understand. Limited seats inside, we had to wait at least 20 minutes inside and outside. Our waitress was nice enough. Easily placed our order. The wait was EXTENSIVE to get our food. How could it take this long? The food: Fine The homefries are tasty- great flavoring but they are super soft. I like them with a little crunch to them. No crunch at all. Eggs cooked perfect French toast- typical Bacon- crispy as asked Sausage- the good kind (thin and flavorful) Coffee milk- good. Great hole in the wall, local favorite feel place. Quick service, all of the food (ALL) comes out HOT hot - never seen a plate sit to be, uh, distributed (?) more than 5 secs. Even the toast was piping hot, so much I had to give it a sec! I love that especially! Service was perfect - fast and attentive. Gives you space if you want, engages if thats yo thang. Kind and patient with all my questions. Counter sitting at first come first serve (about 5 seats), bunch of tables and booths for bigger parties, single occupant restroom (the best amirite?), ample parking across the street. I recommend the omelets and the Alex Daily if they ever bring it back (rotating specials!). This place is a great little breakfast nook/diner in general. Despite the generally good food, I've been disappointed in their ability to take phone orders. It's often inaccurate, without either the quantity we ask for or the type of toast/adónde we requested. I want to keep giving this place my business but it would be helpful if they could increase staffing or improve systems do they are able to improve service. It's a good thing my partner picked up the food bc I would have been asking for a discount. read more

Cant recommend this place enough. I wish 10 stars were an option. Amazing food, huge portions and the best breakfast prices you will find anywhere. The regular menu offers a huge variety of choices but the specials are a step beyond! Omelettes, pancakes, waffles, BBQ baked beans, country gravy, biscuits, cornbread, muffins, bagels... I could go on and on! The entire staff are all amazing, attentive & friendly. It's the kind of place that after a few visits they know you're name and your regular order if you have one. Drinks show up before you're even settled in your booth (or table or counter seat). I can't say there are many places I visit where a cook actually knows my name! If you stop by on a weekend and there is a line, trust me, there is a line for a reason and it's worth the wait. My girlfriend and I try to make it here every Saturday, so much so I believe we have become regulars. The waitresses are amazing, always nice, prompt, and can answer questions or make substitutions if possible and we have spoken to the owners on multiple occasions as they are just as friendly and welcoming. We made this our spot when we were able to consistently get breakfast for 2 for about $15. Since then the prices have gone up just a bit where it will go just over $20 (with add ons such as a pancake, corn muffin, side of bacon) but basic egg meals from the menu are around $5 depending on your meat choices. They always offer specials so I usually treat myself to one of those or go with the always delicious steak bomb omelette. Getting a pancake to split is always a must! There is a wait on the weekends if you're going from 8-10 am and slows down shortly after. There is little waiting space where the line can sometimes go out the door. It moves quickly but if the weather is bad it can sometimes feel discouraging...but it's worth it so stick it out! Booths and tables range from 2-4 people 5 if you cram. If you are a party more than than that I reccomend getting 2 tables close together (sometimes hard with a breakfast rush) and they have about 8 bar seats. This is a great hometown spot I see myself reccomending to all my friends! read more

The homefries are the best around, get them with onions and definitely get them well done, so that they get a bit crispy, really good. They have some really good low price options. They are busy on the weekends, as a sign they are good, so they often have a wait, but just wait it out even if it looks they have a long line, because it moves fast. Been coming here since I was a little girl- I'm now 26 & still order their breakfast every change I get. Breakfast is absolutely delicious & sooooo tasty. I get the hash & eggs with rye toast & a large orange juice. 12$. Super cheap & the staff has been working there since I was little- great family. Very friendly. Friendly service. Seat yourself breakfast spot right on the corner of Newport Ave and Benefit Street. No dedicated parking - but on street and across the street parking available. My breakfast was huge and tasty. I got Tiggers Plate to try a little bit of everything. This had two eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 pancakes, toast and home fries. I really enjoyed the home fries, sausage and pancakes. While not every item turned out to be a home run - the low price for this made it somewhat forgivable. The man ordered the eggs Benedict - while it looked sloppy - the sauce on top was definitely not hollandaise. It had more of a chicken gravy / corn starch consistency (powdered product perhaps?) the man ate it but was mystified as to what exactly they were going for with this version of eggs Benedict. This is a small place but has a decent sized menu. There are also specials on the dry erase board to pick from. I've heard and read many people rave about their omelettes - so I think next time I would try one of those creations. Worth a stop for inexpensive breakfast if you are in the neighborhood. read more

I have to say this was just a dissapointing meal. I would of given 1 star if it wasn't for the service which wasn't bad. I ordered the biscuit and gravy special and other got the tigger special. The first thing I noticed when the food came out was that it looked as if the flat top wasn't clean because there were burnt flakes on everything. The potatoes looked like mush in a pile that was burnt in between as well, which sucks because I love the crunchy bits of homefries. The eggs were okay, they did cook them correctly but the slab of American cheese on top was off putting. Lastly the biscuits and gravy was like those dollar store biscuits with gravy from a packet. Just all around disappointed because it was like a mediocre diner and you don't expect much from a diner in the first place. I might give it another go one day but I highly doubt it. read more

Wow, what a gem. We came here and somehow no one was waiting ahead of us. Thing about this place that I'm not the biggest fan of is the fact that you seat yourself. You wait at the door, and when someone gets up, you hover over their table. We were going to sit at the counter and then a young kid came in behind us and took the seat. What a pain. Regardless, this place is great. Pancakes were super fluffy. Like, some of the best I've ever had. Wow. Portions are great, and prices reflect perhaps a decade ago. I can see why it's so popular. Had the steak bomb omelette -- so cheesy and packed with ingredients. Amazing. Potatoes are great. Toast was perfectly buttered. Great, no nonsense food. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. It sets the day ahead. Tigger's Plate is great at the price of $7.29 you get 2 bacon 2 sausage 2 pancakes 2 eggs home fries and toast. For $7.29, what a deal and you can try it all. The pancakes are pretty decent and the home fries are quiet nice. Bacon and sausage is sufficient. During weekend mornings, I would see people standing outside the restaurant, waiting to get in. It certainly got me curious because the place looks like it's nothing special, really small with lousy parking but I must say it lives up to the hype. What really makes this place stand out from the pack is it's price and size portions that can't be beat. Furthermore, the food is very good. The omelettes are amazing and you can get a very full meal for under 10 dollars easily. Also the menu is simple without too many choices. It's like one of those mom and pop restaurants that are quality over quantity. Early risers who can get to the place before 7AM will be able to get in and out but go later in the day and you'l have a long wait. The place also closes are 2 so it truly is a place that is an exclusive breakfast place and those are a rare fine indeed. read more

I guess Asians aren't common in this area because we got tons of stares from customers and staff when we walked in (group of 5), but the waitress was really nice to us. The portions are huge and no one finished their food. Average breakfast dish is 4-6 dollars. Home fries: looked like 2 whole potatoes was used for each portion, really flavorful and good. Steak: cooked unevenly, some parts looked well done and some parts looked medium rare. Pancakes: fluffy and good, but edges look sloppily made. Eggs: don't get scrambled, it was overcooked. The sunny side up ones looked better. Drinks: bottomless hot coffee and tea for 1-2 dollars, got a bowl of mini half and half cups, which was nice. Toast: just regular toast, a bunch of options. Others at the table got sandwiches (only $3 and add $1 for huge portion of home fries!!), oatmeal, bacon (super crispy), omelettes (was able to get just egg whites), all were pretty good according to them.
