Nachos with chicken, corn, sour cream, fajita mix, and pico de gallo.

Words cannot describe how much wonderful this place is! When I attended Salve, this was one of my friend group's favorite place to eat at. Since graduating and being back in Newport after a long 12 hour road trip... Tijuana was the only thing on my mind and I'm truly glad they are still around! It is a quaint and humble restaurant that has a menu on the wall and above the ordering station. Ordering is quite simple, there is a variety of "base" options you have available such as a burrito, burrito bowl, tacos, quesadilla, nachos, etc... Then, you go down the line for all the good toppings in a Chipotle-style manner. This time, I got the nachos and loaded them right up. The best part about this place is that they never skimp on the toppings. You get so much delicious food for about $11-13. My partner got a burrito nearly the size of his head! I could go on and on about this place some more, but when you find yourself in Newport... certainly give it a try!

Totally random and spontaneous visit. I pulled into a parking spot as soon as I saw the words, "tacos and burritos". But what I found was a super nice surprise... I just got back from Belize and I saw pupusa's on the menu. I ordered one chicken, one pork, one cheese. It comes with the side slaw in a separate baggie. I also had to try out their street corn in a cup. It did not disappoint! I'm already wanting to come back with my daughter. The service was friendly and I was greeted promptly to take my order. Nothing fancy, but absolutely delicious and that's what matters.

Homemade tortillas, nicely grilled steak, homemade guac and pico! Got the order to takeout and it was simple for pickup, food was still hot and fresh when we got it.

I'm not sure if I just went on a bad day in the kitchen or what have you, but this is probably the worst bowl I've ever had. Very weird flavor. If you've ever had Mexican food you can tell this is nothing like it. I know I gotta give everything a second chance but I just don't really want to go back. Luckily I was haven't ate all day (it was 3pm) and I was super hungry so i was able to eat it all. But man that was not good. But maybe steak isn't they're strong suit.

Fresh and flavorful Street corn in a cup and excellent taco salad.

My party of three is from the West Coast and we love authentic Mexican food. This place fits the bill! Fresh delicious food, served quick by friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant is cute and clean. We are here while visiting Newport and we would definitely come back here in a heartbeat during our next visit. My sister had the bowl and street corn in a cup. My mom and I got the taco salad. The taco tortilla bowl was fresh and crispy, but not greasy. The Spanish rice was phenomenal. The guacamole was also good.

The food was great!! Seemed good quality and authentic. People behind the counter were friendly. The inside was small, but we went at a good time and had no problem finding a spot to sit.

If you're in the area and want something like chipotle but better this is the place. The food is great, the hot sauce is amazing along with the portions! Service was great a tad bit hot and stuffy in there but didn't stop me from eating.

Got the Carnitas burrito and found a staple in it.

We ordered the carnitas burrito, and halfway through, we found a staple in it. Really disappointing and concerning. We've enjoyed this place in the past, but finding something like that in our food has definitely shaken our confidence.

I'd rate this 4.5. All the flavors were on point. So delicious. Subtract half a star just for construction. They could drain some of the ingredients a little more before adding it to the bowl. But it was yummy so not complaining too much.

Tonight was a complete disappointment. Chips were stale and chimichangas were tasteless. Decor was super cute and wait staff was wonderful, hence 2 stars and not 1. Asked our waitress if there had been a change and she said ownership changed within the last week. The new owner was there and she told him we had asked about the changes. His message via the waitress was he is using a different beef and is using more authentic Mexican seasoning (which I would say is "no seasoning"). We left there tonight knowing we would not return. So sad, so many good memories.

Very fresh and honestly, very affordable for the aesthetic, quality, and taste. Plus the service is great. I've had their pastas, entrees, apps, pizza, and drinks and there is nothing you can go wrong with. My personal favorites is their kale salad, chianti marsala braised beef and mushroom tagliatelle. She was nice enough to let me try them and I chose the Trevino which was very good and paired great with my food. The bread was nothing special but solid and the high quality olive oil made up for it. For my main I got the chicken milanese and it was divine. I loved the vinaigrette on top perfectly acidic and vinegary. It cut though the oil and heaviness of the breading which was perfectly salted by the way. The arugula bean salad was sooo good and created such a well balanced meal. The one thing I will say is I believe their fryer does fish and chicken bc my chicken had a slight ocean taste but since I like fish I was not bothered but non fish people beware!

Leaving the parking lot here is only second to KFC/Domino's, in terms of stupidity. The positives here are no crunchy rice, I can get a horchata or tamarind drink, a large selection of Jarritos soda, and the chip bags are always stuffed completely full. (I will have to say, though, I love the lime salt that Chipotle uses on their chips) I tend to order taco salads here, and the portion sizes are pretty darn good. I will, however, suggest getting either the green hot or medium hot sauce, mixed with the hot. The hot sauce has a decent amount of heat, but not much depth of flavor. All in all, this is a pretty solid fast food choice.

My friend and I were discussing how the flavor and texture of the chips have changed for the worst over time - they use to be lighter and crispier, with lime and salt. The bag does bring a good amount, enough for two people to share. The lemonade drinks in the dispensers are good, and I like that they let you pour it yourself because we tried different combinations. The staff was kind and efficient.

The service was exceptional, and the menu boasts an impressive array of authentic Mexican dishes, including mole and pumpkin sauces--definitely not Tex-Mex. This is a much-needed addition to the local dining scene, as Rhode Island is not renowned for its Mexican or Tex-Mex options. Currently, Pero Solado is one of the few decent spots on the island, with a few more in the Providence and Central Falls area. Note that they do not have a liquor license, so you can enjoy Mexican sodas instead. Our meal consisted of guacamole and chips, carne asada, three tacos, and a side of beans. Everything was delicious; the beans were clearly homemade, and the tortillas were made from corn. The pricing was generally good, although the guacamole and chips at $10 seemed a bit steep.
