It has been quite awhile since I've visited a Tijuana Flats location. After working at the Starbucks next door through lunchtime, my stomach started to growl so I wrangled up a few friends to come and join me. I ordered the fish tacos and some queso. (If there is queso somewhere, I just have to have it.) The chips were really good... they had an extra bit of seasoning sprinkled on, maybe a garlic pepper, but made for a nice chip. The queso was ok... not the best in the world, however not the worst either. The fish tacos on the other hand were a miss for me. I did enjoy the extras on top, some cabbage and a sweet vinaigrette type sauce, but the fish was pretty fishy. :( I do love they have beer on tap, even if it's only a few selections. There are a few things that make the place standout, and why I'll totally come back again to try something different on the menu. It's decorated pretty lively, and has a fun feel. There is a huge covered patio for smoker friends or dog lovers. But the best thing is the hot sauce bar. There are probably 10 different variations to try and even thou the cups are the tiniest things ever.... I did get to sample quite a few and loved most all of them. After we ordered our food at the register, it was brought out quickly and there was always a server checking on us to make sure we were properly "refreshed." I honestly think I frequent this establishment much, much more than I should. It's really still new so it's clean, bright and everyone is SO happy to be at work. The employees are always so nice and offer to bring you anything you'd ever need. They even run to open the door for you. I learned the hard way that even the 'medium' version of a burrito is HUGE. For a chain restaurant with counter service, Tijuana Flats does a really good job. Customer service is spot on--staff is always super friendly. Plus the food comes out pretty fast. Food has always been good as well. Every time I come to TF I order a "norrito" bowl--aka burrito without the tortilla. I feel like I get a lot more of the "good stuff" than I do with the regular burritos. My boyfriend recently got a carnitas burrito without loading up the meat and it had barely any meat or cheese but perhaps that was a fluke. Oh, and I opt for the "power lite" option--reduced fat cheese and sour cream. Happy hour options are pretty good here too. Monday-Friday 4pm-7pm. Beers are on special (and they have a few draft options) as is sangria at $3 a glass. I can't recall other specifics about their happy hour but just having one is always a good thing! Not always an easy thing to get a table especially with a group. But just a brief amount of patience and you will have one. Shortly after, they will come looking for you calling out the name you gave. Oh, and don't forget to stock up at the hot sauce bar too. More than a dozen different sauces from mild to wickedly hot. Sit back and enjoy your tacos or other food. The food is good and tasty. Excellent service, especially for a counter service restaurant. But the key to any chain is their consistency and TJ does that well. I have eaten at four of their locations in this area and all have been fantastic with the same- great service, good food and an outstanding salsa bar. Can you get more authentic food? I found this place in Riverside a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I've been back quite a few times to bring different people to try their sauces. The first time I was there, the Manager offered me a basket of chips and brought me several of their sauces to try. Loved the customer service! Word to the wise: If you can't take spicy food much, don't move on pass the fourth sauce! Overall, is a great place close to my office, their food is tasty, and their customer service is great even during lunch rush. 1st of all I'm a retired manager from a major food global company former certified in food safety and security. Was there past Saturday evening -1st time in chain. Not very busy and after submitting our order waited and waited for food. Many came in after us, ordered and we fed -we still were not. No one seemed to be in charge; all employees seemed to jump to whatever job they wanted to do next from order order to cash registerer. Long haired girl was seen numerous times wiping nose with back of hand then go back to order prep, no gloves were seen in use. Finally they noticed we were not serviced and said they'd check on it. On one informed us of reason for delay. Eventually food arrived - cold in center - very much like frozen or ref. Food that had been microwaved. I was asked if it was good and I said no, it was cold! So they prepared a new order of the same dish very quickly. Betting it was microwaved on HIGH this time. Center was still cool, folds in wrap were doughy tasting. We sit down and my friend's food is brought. The order was wrong and the staff took it away. My order follows. Mine was ALSO wrong. And the price tag made more sense, since they brought me a burrito instead of tacos. They take mine away. And we wait. And wait. Mind you we came here because we needed something quick. My order is finally brought and corrected. Then two separate people bring out my friends remade order. The manager made that one really uncomfortable when he shooed away the employee who was trying to make good on the issues. A while later management comes back with a $5 gift card. The gift card didn't cover all the extra money I'd spent or the fact the ordeal cost my friend her entire lunch break. No communication and severe mistakes for a place with just OK food. The food was very delicious. I will admit it was a bit pricy for burritos and chimichangas but the food was of good quality and worth it in my opinion. The steak was very good and not the cheap chewy stuff they pass off as steak at most chain taco joints. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, especially the manager who immediately offered to change out my friends order for something else because he didn't like what he originally ordered.
