Wow. I'm an Orlando native and have eaten Tijuana Flats for nearly two decades. This new ownership must be screwing it but because when I say my recent order was awful, I mean it was AWFUL. I got the beef Flautas with queso. The beef in the flautas had ZERO seasoning. Tijuana flats beef used to be really delicious. This was soooo bland it was actually gross, just tasted fatty. I came here looking for what is considered one of the best hot sauces in the city. What to dip in my hot sauce? I ordered the flautas, I don't remember what kind, probably steak. But man, I love Tijuana Flats. I got not only my delicious, crispy flautas, but also a mess of chips, a huge tub of nacho cheese, a huge tub of salsa, and three generous dollops of gauc, sour cream, and pico. This was true value. I ate every bit of what was on my tray and was actually much more satisfied than I thought I was going to be. And yes, the hot sauce was really good. Being an amazing local chain that relies on consistency and quality in this city that is over-saturated with Hispanic food options, I feel like all reviews should be five stars or one star. Tijuana Flat is located in a plaza so parking was a breeze. Store had fun wall art and overall a chill vibe. Came for Taco Tuesday (2 tacos for $6.99) and got the steak tacos (+$1). The tacos were decent sizes. Steak was well seasoned and the veggies were refreshing - just want it's supposed to taste like but what's more to praise is the service. The staff here was very friendly and was very accommodating as to customizing your order. The garlic shrimp bowl was pretty delicious as well; shrimps were really juicy. Food came out quickly and was good. My favorite is the Steak Dos Tacos. Staff was very sweet and attentive. AJ was probably one of the sweetest servers I've met. She shared her favorite sauce selection with us and brought it over. They brought out water for our dog, asked us if we wanted refills, and even offered us a bag of chips to go. Ah ha! I finally went to this place. On my way home from work I used to tell myself i'm going to try that out. Fast forward to today I'm here (5+ years). This is usually my favorite location--everyone is genuinely friendly and helpful and the food is consistent. My last visit was for an online Tijuana Tuesday order and the process is a bit frustrating unless you choose to head right to the register instead of waiting. They do have television screens which track what orders are in progress and which are completed, however, they do not match the takeout shelves. Unfortunately, my order had a missing item (1 drink instead of 2) which caused confusion with the staff member shelving orders and the food was cold after waiting. read more

As I have mentioned in my other Tflats reviews. Their success lies in their consistency. No matter which store you enter you know you will get a warm welcome, good service, and basic good tex mex food. This particular location is fairly large inside, even though it may not look that way from the outside. They have plenty of options in their menu. Even for those with some food allergies. For me, I am currently enjoying their new enchiladas, colorful, flavorful and plenty of food to keep you satisfied. A pretty good value proposition. read more

I'm always up for a good American-style Tex Mex meal, and Tijuana Flats has a menu full of options. Lately, though, I have one big complaint. They stopped offering salads (they used to serve them in that fried tortilla bowl) and instead now they only have bowls with the option to get greens instead of rice. This sounds like it makes sense, I actually do not miss the fried tortilla, but the greens portion is not enough. All of the other measurements are correct, plenty of protein, a nice service of salad dressing and whatever toppings you add, but the salad part of the bowl isn't enough. Last time I picked up I actually had to add my own romaine, and tonight I finally decided that I couldn't justify the price so we ordered from somewhere else. This isn't a cheap item, and I hope they consider adding another handful in order to give us salad lovers a good salad. read more

Great Mexican food! After a Yelp Event here I decided to take home some of the Chicken Chimichangas from here. They were great! I wouldn't say I'm a Mexican food expert but they tasted pretty authentic. That queso is like crack. I'm also a huge fan of their hot sauces here. I think their hot sauce bar is such a genius idea. That's how I discovered how much I love Jason's Mom (That's the name of the hot sauce... for real). I was helped behind the counter by Britney, who is one of the kindest people you will ever meet, and discovered that it was her who was the first to try Jason's Mom a few years back when a stranger just walked into another TFlats location and tried to sell it. I'm very grateful to her for that. Ended up getting a whole case the hot sauce. Aaron, the manager, was amazing and gave me a really nice discount. They hire really quality people here. Overall, since moving to Orlando from New York, Tijuana Flats has been my go-to place for Mexican Food. It's constantly good quality stuff here. The employees are beyond great at this location specifically. The aesthetic is always really creative and artistic no matter what location you go to. It's a really fun vibe. I'm glad to see this restaurant has stood the test of time so far! I love the taco salads here! I'm glad they put a location closer to home! The only thing I dislike is it seems. The salads have become smaller over the years. It's not a big deal, just something I've noticed. The flavor is still there though! I just wish the salad came with more guac! Hit up this location to try out the new Turkey Chorizo (ground turkey with chorizo seasoning) in some of their menu items. Loved it even more than the turkey they had last year. One of these days they are going to keep it on the menu for good (hint hint, wink wink). I got to try out the hangover burrito and it was everything I hoped for an more. Definitely couldn't do this one on a regular basis, but definitely great as a hangover cure. We had it with turkey, but you can get it with any of the meets they have. We love this chain and all its locations. We made it a point to go two times in six days during our visit - so we obviously miss them! I always get the two tacos with beef and refried beans and a side of queso for the chips. The tacos are filled up to the perfect level and the toppings always taste fresh. The queso just perfect for the chips (note: if you are with someone and want to both get sides of queso - just do the queso appetizer since it's cheaper). Normally we also get some of the cookie dough flautas to finish off our meal, and they are amazing. Fingers crossed this chain starts opening locations towards the west coast soon! I love that this place sticks to its routes and is still serving delicious Mexican food at decent prices. One of my favorites - the banging chicken burrito, wet with queso. At last night's Yelp event at TF on Colonial, I was reminded there's a time and place for everything. Sometimes we're just in the mood for reliable eats in a fun environment. That's what Tijuana Flats is and it serves its loyal patrons well. I'd forgotten the perfection of a warm, crispy chip with just the right amount of guacamole (with chunks of avocado), creamy queso and a decent selection of hot sauces for the more adventurous foodies out there. I was grateful for the fool-proof flautas with beef (I prefer chicken) and renewed my vow to never give up dairy because what is a world without sour cream? Awful, that's what. I was pleased with the tostadas and the number of servers who provided us Yelpers with vegetarian options featuring black beans for protein. I was surprised by the double-stack taco featuring both a taco and tortilla. And I was left speechless after the Cookie Dough Flautas. Thanks to Jessica and the amazing team at this location. It has been over 2 years since I've been to Tijuana and I must say I don't recall it being this good. I went alone about 3 days ago before work. The menu had some interesting choices and I didn't recall what was revered in terms of their food. Something did catch my eye! The odd, but intriguing flautas. A fried and crispy rolled quesadilla with your choice of chicken, beef, or steak! I had to go with the steak and boy that was a great decision! I ordered it with the sides on the side (lol). Essentially my plate was covered in lettuce, onions, and diced tomatoes. Also the meal included guacamole, sour cream, and delicious queso sauce. That sauce was by far the best cheese sauce I've had at any tex mex joint around here. I am aware that they are notorious for their sauce and risqué sauce names but I'm not much of a sauce boss so I opted out this time. The scenery and ambience was alright today. Not loud...kinda empty. I actually enjoyed that. The parking is kind of limited out front so if the place is busy you'd have to park out back. Luckily to cater to those guests that park out back they also have a back door entrance. If you haven't gone I'd say go for it. Furthermore I seriously recommended the flautas. read more

I had never been to this Tex Mex chain and was taken by a friend. If she hadn't taken me there I would have walked out before even placing an order.!! the place was filthy. The floor had wet puddles we could have slipped on.... Mind you, I'm 65 my friend is 75!! We could have slipped and hurt ourselves. After pointing it out and trying to step around it, it came time to order. I ordered the tostadas with steak and my friend ordered a chicken quesadilla. We went outside to eat and found that the table across from us had a couple of young ladies that had arrived with their dog. Cute little thing! I don't mind dogs in restaurants at outside tables, so that was not the problem. The problem was...these young ladies were friends of the servers and kitchen staff. The girls from the kitchen and servers were hanging out with their friends....they petted the dog , it licked their hands they rubbed all over it......I watched very carefully to see if they went to the restroom to wash their hands once they went back inside. NO...they went straight into the kitchen and the other picked up a platte of food to deliver....dog saliva all over her hands. This is not hygenic and not permitted by the restaurant industry standards. We watched as this happened every time between serving food to other tables. When our food arrived, we had a different server, this child was just outright rude and sullen!!! The plate with the quesadilla came with a ton of dry chips...my friend inquired politely if there was any salsa or sauce for the chips....she turned around and said "NO" and walked away!!! We tried calling her back to order some and actually have to pay for a smidge of salsa...never happened!!! My tostadas we not tostadas....tostadas are crunchy and hold up to being picked up. I got a plate of soggy plastic resembling a tostada loaded with gooey nasty beans and a couple of tiny bits of overcooked steak. I tied to pick it up to eat and it just flopped and fell onto the tray. it was quite disgusting and cold. The child serving us never came out again to see if we needed anything and avoided us. all in all....horrible experience ... got home with stomach ache! Tip- if you don't like seasoned chips or pepper make sure you tell them and they will give you unseasoned ones. I usually order the DOS tacos which are reasonably priced and wonderful especially the chipotle chicken. DOS tacos also comes with chips and you can get beans with it for free just ask for beans on the side of your tacos. The restaurant is clean and the staff is really pleasant. Always a pleasure to come to this location. There is parking in the back so if it's crowded in the front just head behind the building, park and walk through the back door. read more

So here is another location I have been to in the area and it was just as good as all the others. Unique decor and fast service are a staple of theirs. The food was excellent and the hot sauce just right. The design is different than others I have been in such as the entrances front and back. They have specials for all days of the week, but I find that Taco Tuesday gathers the most crowd. I usually get the two steak tacos, soft, on wheat, power lite with everything on it. 4 Stars for a punch of color, personality, and flavor- that originated in Winter Park! This location of TFlats is pretty large. The parking out front looks inadequate, until you realize there's parking behind the building as well. I dig the brand and have to say I've gone through phases where I would get their 2 taco meal no less than once a week. This means I've got some tips! Tip 1- ask for to-go containers for the sauces. The sauce bar has teeny tiny containers and I used to fill 10 of them and still be lacking sauce at the end of my meal. They have larger containers behind the counter if you ask for them! Tip 2- Check your meal! I've had a few occasions where I've arrived home with something missing (nothing major, but still a bit annoying). Tip 3- Order the guac. You get a small tub full (more than most places) and it has nice chunks of avo that make it clear it's made in-house. Tip 4- Try the power-lite cheese option! It tastes the same as the regular cheese. I've tricked my partner into eating it without him noticing... Finally, though not really a tip it's still worth mentioning that this location has always impressed me in terms of service. Everyone seems to be happy and this last time I was greeted 3 times with smiles! Overall, this is a good location that retains the charm of the brand. I get the same thing every time I go, which is two hard tacos, one beef, one chicken with just tomato and cheese and a side of queso! It's my go-to and it's delicious every time! The service here is great! Everyone is always friendly when you first walk in and makes sure your drink is always filled. The service is quick, too. I sometimes don't even make it back to my table from the hot sauce bar before my name is being called with my food! Love this place! Taco Tuesday is where it's at. For $5.99 you get two huge tacos, chips and salsa, and a fountain drink. The place is lively and draws an eclectic crowd.
