I am all for anything that means more burritos in the general downtown area, so I was happy to see another Tijuana Flats crop up in the strip mall across the street from the East Colonial Target. It's surprisingly larger on the inside than it appears from the exterior and has several tables in front, as well (though you'll get much better people watching at the Thornton Park or College Park locations - this pretty much offers a view of incoming/outgoing Plato's Closet shoppers and the Lynx bus stop). The food and service are on par with other Tijuanas, and this chain deserves some credit for its consistency. Tijuana also continually add fiery new things to their hot sauce bar, which I appreciate. As for our order, we ordered a norrito (a burrito with no tortilla) and the flautas, and if you haven't had the latter, they're one of the better things on the Tijuana Flats menu - small fried tortillas stuffed with your choice of meat, with queso, guacamole and sour cream for dipping. Service was friendly and the wait was reasonable. They also do take-out. read more

Second lifetime Tijuana flats visit that was arranged through the customer service of the company. First one in a different location - ok. This one made all the difference. The manager Aaron was attentive to cleaning some tables outside when I arrived, was opening doors for people and immediately asked if I want to see the menu (in my previous visit, I had no idea how to order and how the stuff works). Helped me choose a variety of foods to experience all that the restaurant has to offer, introduced me better to the sauces bar and took care of my order. The environment was friendly, music wasn't too loud, and the place was clean with attentive staff to the customers dining inside. I got 2 half orders of flautas and something else seen on the picture that I forgot the name of. Along with one taco with chips. The beef taco was loaded with food, which is great to see, given that some restaurants portion their tacos and put barely any food inside. The taco tasted great, the other supervisor brought me a cilantro in a sauce cup upon request which I highly appreciate. I love cilantro but some places put either too little or too much with your order and this way, I could easily control how much of the greenery I am putting in the taco. Good stuff. Other foods on the menu also tasted very well. The flautas were simple but tasty and I enjoyed some sweet sauce that was recommended by the other supervisor Ashley. Spot on. Queso - great. Guac mix with sour cream - complemented nicely the fried flautas and the flavors of the meal. Ashley took time to recommend some sauces from the bar that went well with the food and with the chips. The staff was friendly. Great overall experience, the staff showed me what the menu trully has to offer and were very professional overall. Upon leavin, Aaron informed me of their specials throughout the week. Come check this place out even if you've never been and like Mexican style food. I will be back for some tacos. read more

Ordered the Tijuana Tuesday deal, and my tacos were LOADED! I got a hard beef taco with lettuce tomato and sour cream, powerlite, and a grilled soft chicken taco the same way. I forgot to get my usual sauces and was so disappointed in myself! It was very busy when I went, as to be expected since I went during the dinner rush. For $6.49 you can't beat this deal! Staff were wearing masks and took COVID precautions. The restrooms were also very clean and well stocked. Like with most chains, at the end of the day most Tijuana Flats are very similar--same hip, whacky colorful Tex Mex vibe, same delicious food, same great customer service. But the one thing that I do enjoy about this particular T Flats located right off of Colonial Drive is the fact that the actual dining area itself is slightly more expansive compared to other Tijuana Flats that I have frequented. This does seem to make things easier during lunch hour, which seems to be a prime time for more or less all of the restaurants in this area. Part of that may have to do with the fact that this stretch of Colonial is really just outside of downtown and the Mills 50 district. Either way, it is nice to have a larger dining area, even though it does of course mean that there is more or less no patio space at this location. Speaking of location, the tiny plaza that this Tijuana Flats is located in definitely has parking issues. Pay attention to the fact that there is additional parking in the rear of the building (because I didn't--lol). There is also a back entrance, so the rear parking isn't as much of an inconvenience. All in all, I enjoyed my experience at this Tijuana Flats and the food was delicious. After going to Costco, I pulled into this place 'TF'. The register girl asked us (wife & myself) what we wanted. I asked about the Chimi and she stated what was in it. Me: Is that all? Her: Chips. Me: Isn't there rice or something? She gave me a blank stare ... la la land. That pause was about 10sec. My wife stepped in and asked 'Don't you have a meal or something?' The food came to our table. The Chimi looked like a 1-1/2" x 4" x1/2" flattened fried burrito. My wife's bowl presentation appeared to be wet riced with tasteless chicken. Well, for $28.00, you guys lost two customers for sure. The best tasting part out of this whole over priced joke was the small Mr. Pibb drink. Yep, the truth. Sorry we dropped in, but next time we'll pick a better establishment. This is my local Tijuana Flats so we try to hit it up a few times a month. Its big inside and plenty of space for friends/family that visit. They also have some seating outside which is great on a nice day. There is parking up front and in the back but it can get a bit cramped depending on how busy it is. The food here and honestly at any Tijuana Flats I've been to is consistently good, which I really appreciate. I also recommend Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen by the same owners as Tijuana if you want to try a totally different style of food that is equally good. At Tijuana my hubby always picks up something different, my mom, sisters and I always, I mean ALWAYS get the flautas. My god, these things are so good, they're like little self-contained harbingers of happiness...THAT YOU CAN EAT. If you've never had a flauta, it's basically a lightly fried flour or wheat tortilla stuffed with cheese and whatever other filling you want. You get a ton and on the side you get that yummy queso, guacamole, sour cream, diced onions, diced tomatoes, and shredded lettuce. We also get black beans and rice on the side too-hey we're Hispanic, no faintly Spanish meal goes alone without a bean and rice companion...its just not done. There is also a hot sauce bar. I'm sorry to say that I had to knock a star off. These guys are pretty good for the most part, but either there is someone there who isn't a good cook, or someone's slacking, because now 1/3 of the time I go there, the chips are chewy, and the overall taste of the chicken nachos is lacking. They've changed the chicken, too. It's now shredded, instead of the blocks; not quite as tasty, either. I called to politely express my dissatisfaction with a meal, and the manager said he'd put the money back on the card.......he never did, though. This is a well known local chain for tex mex. It's very consistent and I always recommend if people ask about it. The food is very mild and safe for all palletes, but they are very famous for their hot sauce bar. Plenty of ways go gussy up your food. They have recently been incorporating traditional favorites like street tacos and enchiladas, but the megajuana burrito wet will always be my go to! Got to try the enchiladas and they were good, the verde sauce was mild and tangy. Always love the ambiance, pop art and manga inspired graffiti on all the walls. TL is my go to for tacos. I will not be back to his location. Every TLs I have been to, everyone is so nice. The cashier might of just had a bad day, but she seem bothered & annoyed we were there. Give that a pass, we all have bad days but I am never rude. This is my true complaint , both my wife and I got violently sick 1.5 hr after leaving TLs. We both had blackened chicken tacos. It didn't taste any differently than any other times but it is loaded with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and etc. and would be difficult to tell is it was slightly off. Then my 1st Coke Zero was fine but when she refilled it, it was completely flat. I told her that this time around it was a little flat and did she mind trying the same fountain that the 1st one. In a "snarky" voice, she said it comes from the same place. I felt like I was being scolded lol. Again, everyone I have ever dealt with in TL and always been extremely nice. Found a bone in my chicken! This was my first trip to a Tijuana Flats as I just moved to Florida. I was craving a real big burrito stuffed with rice and steak so I ordered a quesadilla with chicken and a steak burrito. I was extremely disappointed when I saw the mere size of the burrito - no rice (which I asked for in the burrtio) and I counted 8 pieces of steak - 8! For a $1 upcharge, that's unacceptable. I also asked for the beans on the side and had a tablespoon of refried beans in a 6oz cup...ugh. I ended up leaving half of the tortilla because there wasn't enough stuffed inside to fill it. Moved onto the quesadilla, took a bite and chewed into a bone! Disgusting! I feel like this is what people sue restaurants over. The entire meal cost me $12 and I ended up throwing away 1/3 of the burrito and the entire quesadilla. Needless to say, I won't be returning to any locations. read more

It's huge! Not Fun Spot huge but for a TFlats... huge. You wouldn't think so from outside but it is. There is an entrance and additional parking in the back. There is a ton of seating inside and some outside. I didn't have the best customer service experience at this location but the delicious food was on point. I went in for a to-go order and was in the mood for tostadas, so delicious here. My other go to here are the nachos, chicken and cheese weakness. While I am waiting for togo orders, I totally dig checking out all the murals all over and the humorous bumper stickers. Love the personality of each location. Ya know, what more can be said about Tijuana Flats that hasn't already been said for the 20 or so we already have in Orlando? How about, this place just opened and it's down the street from my house! Thank the food fates they finally brought one to fill the black hole of non-Tijuana Flats that was Colonial Town. I was really getting tired of driving to downtown, Winter Park or University to satisfy my cravings! For those of you that don't know TFs, it's a Tex Mex college student sort of place. Nothing too horribly fancy, but the food is fresh, and there is always a big row of hot sauces to tickle your taste buds, including the very famous "Smack My Ass" line of hot sauces. They even give you a helpful sticker on each sauce to let you know the level of pain you're going to be enduring. The little black sticker with the death face? Yeah, don't try it. Trust me. (Damn you Ghost Chile sauce!) Fairly reasonably priced, this place won't really break your wallet. They also have beer to sooth the fires and put away the Tex Mex tastee. A good place on a Saturday, and good for a fast lunch. They even have ways to make it a little healthier for you such as wheat tortillas, low fat cheese, low cal sour cream, and other ways. They just opened, so make sure you give them a little patience, but so far, they haven't made mistakes. I went here for Taco Tuesdays and found out I'm not a huge fan of their tacos. Something is just weird to me. It doesn't hit the yummy spot. What I do love is the flautas. The flautas are in a tex-mex style and comes with queso dip, sour cream and guacamole for your dipping pleasure. These just make me happy. Good grub to fill the belly. I just learned T-Flats no longer sells olives which is fine to me but olive lovers may want to bring their own if they want them. I had a coupon for a free trio but didn't quite understand what a trio was, ordered another burrito. Soo.. they got what the needed from me. Menus were hard to find and after I placed my to-go order I uncomfortably stood around with sauces in my hand. No empty tables. Cramped. My wife loves this place. I like it too but I also LOVE the traditional Mexican restaurant. And I think that I used to like it a lot more but I'm not really sure why I changed. If you're looking to get a burrito and if you want control of what's going in it, I would far rather go to TF's than one of the larger and more homogenized burrito places. Let's all remember that these are UCF guys that have done well so if you're local you should try this place before all other mega-corp owned chains. Personally I prefer to sit down and get a margarita and beans and rice with my meal while there's either soccer or a spicy hap playing in the background but that's just because I love the traditional Mexican restaurant. TF's is really good at what they do and you really can't beat their deal on Taco Tuesday. Just be prepared to wait and just like a similar rant that I had about Jason's Deli, be prepared to have a tornado of dirty handed children swirl around you in a sea of spilled drinks and tortilla crumbs. If you in your 30's like I am, you'll love the fact that there seems to be a magnet for hot, young girls in these restaurants and your food will be bought out to you by what I like to call a "young sweetie." I really like Tijuana Flats - It's a-Ok to me. i think I really liked it when it first came out, and now it's just okay. It definitely satisfies any mexican cravings. I feel like every menu item tastes the same, it's filled with the same ingredients, they just assemble and present it in a different way. Their claim to fame is their hot sauce bar. But they only give you a teeny tiny plastic cup for that. How am I going to dip my chip or taco in that? It's tiny, y'all... I'm a dipper. That being said, the food is decent and I've not gotten sick. Favorites are: Mexican Pizza Quesadilla The queso and chips are good and so is the black beans and rice. Glad to see this location open up near my work. My bud was visiting from Atlanta and we both love good mexican and a beer in the middle of the afternoon - hell who doesn't? So, we hit this spot up since it was 1/4 of a mile away. Probably one of the least impressive Tijuana Flats I've seen from the outside, but the inside is really open and airy and inviting. Typical badass TF murals on the walls, place was super clean because it's so new. Customer service, as it is at EVERY Tijuana Flats, was spot on. I don't know what mojo they put into the training manuals but for a "chain" TF really has service down to a science. I've never been to one where I wasn't treated with a smile, a friendly attitude and prompt service. Same goes for this location. I had one of my faves, black-bean chimi, flour tortilla, everything minus jalapenos, power-lite. I've been to TF enough times I like to see if they can keep up with my order speed (I spit it out quick) they ALWAYS can. I got it wet, with queso. Yummy gooey goodness. Look, this isn't Mexican food, this is Tex-Mex, but when I compare them to say Chipotle, Baja, Moe's, or (ugh) Qdoba, they always win out for me. The ingredients seem fresher, the tastes more bold, and the hot bar is king. I love to splay out 8-10 cups of varied hot sauces in front of the wife and I and we just dig in and try all of them. Peach and vidalia onion sauce, chipotle, jalapeno, datil pepper, hot sauces of death that will make your ears steam, even asian inspired hot sauces. Shit, it's a hot sauce *fiesta* and I dig it. And our tab is usually about $12-14. Seriously? That's good value for the money. This isn't "amazing" food, this is pretty damn good fast food. Yeah... I'm partial to Tijuana Flats for my Tex-Mex fast food fix, and this location doesn't disappoint. Outside seating for us smokers, lots of light for a spot that seems like a cave from the road. I have been to several different Tijuana Flats locations. I've been to lunch at the one on Orange Avenue south of downtown Orlando. I've been to the original one on Aloma Avenue. I've been to one in St. Petersburg, Florida. And now I've been to the one on Highway 50 by Maguire St. Every time I go to Tijuana Flats the food is always delicious and consistent. I went there today and got two tacos, or as they call it dos tacos, and some chips. I got it to go and brought it home to eat it. As expected, the tacos, with chicken, tasted fresh and delicious. The chips were nice and crunchy and perfectly fried and salted. I wanted to get some sauce to take home, and the server offered me a bigger container than what they have on the sauce bar. That was very helpful since I wanted a little extra, and if you've ever been to Tijuana Flats you know how tiny the to-go containers are for their hot sauce. A while ago they had a special on their nachos. A few of us went to lunch during a work week and ordered those nachos. We did not realize how huge the serving was going to be. We ate what we could and brought the rest home. I was expecting for it to be very soggy when I got it home and didn't think I'd be able to enjoy it. I heated up the leftovers in the microwave and it was so delicious even six hours later than when I ordered it at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. So my advice to you, don't overlook Tijuana Flats. It is top quality, fresh tacos and burritos and nachos. You will not be disappointed. I am so happy that the restaurant recipes and service is so consistent. Went in for my first time yesterday so I was very excited about eating here. I like the way the place is set up. You order and buy your food first, then you sit down and wait for your name to be called and have the food served right at your table. It really dismisses the awkward "who's going to pay?" situation. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. The cashier recommended the "Smack my sweet ass & call me sally" sauce, which was sweet with a little bit of heat (I think would go great with eggrolls). There was a special promotion of texting something to receive free chips and salsa, and the cashier allowed me to do it right then and there without pressuring me to hurry up. Our waitress was also very friendly, helpful, and attentive to our table (I went with 7 of my co-workers). I got the beef tostada with everything on it and OMG, I am hooked for life. They also gave a side of sour cream and salsa which I loved. I did order a side of rice and beans but I was too full after eating the tostada that I barely had any (my eyes were much bigger than my stomach). Would I come here again? We really like Tijuana Flats for a simple meal with the family. The girls love Taco Tuesdays and I love the price. The food is about 3.5 stars, but the service brings this place down a little. I don't recommend sitting outside if you want a drink refill or need anything with your meal. I will say that we were also a bit spoiled by the friendly staff at the (now closed) Thornton Park location, where they were always around and happy to help. read more

Also spotted a few healthy options of which I did not partake. Was surprised to learn it is a chain, and a fairly big one at that. And now, I'm going to be that asshole who reminisces about the burrito joint he used to frequent in California/Texas/Mexico/etc. Mine was in California, and every day for three very happy hours, you could get a strong 99cent margarita. This place is fantastic. My wife and I were in Florida last week visiting her grandma and going to the beach. And we decided to have a little bit of Mexican foods or we all went to Tijuana Flats. It is like a fast food establishment almost because you go through have a drive-thru and you can go up to the counter and order but they bring it to you certain not really a waiter or waitress but I do bring you your food and they will occasionally fill up your drinks if they see it but a lot of the times you walk up to the cash register and ask them for another refill which can get a little annoying but that's okay. Because the food absolutely makes up for it. I got a giant burrito and it had rice and beans and cheese and sour cream and all that good fattening stuff in it. It comes with a little thing of chips on the side scoop up the stuff that falls out which is a plus. My daughter got two tacos she ate one took one home I ate it later that night and my wife got these little fried chimichanga things which were fantastic as well I think overall for the four of us to eat and drinks it was around $32 which is not that bad really at all. I wish we had one in Louisville because I would love to go to it. I would highly recommend and we will be back the next time we are in Florida. read more
