The food is exceptional, quick, affordable, and this TJ Flats has great service. Everyone is really polite, helpful, and attentive. You can tell their training is good and it does seem like they all work really well as one team all helping at the same time. Even small things like coming out from behind the register to tell the next customer to that they are ready to take their order down the counter is appreciative and noticeable. It's better than yelling "next customer!" every minute on a busy Friday night. Even though this is an order-at-the-counter place, they call your name and they deliver the food. No getting up after you order (unless you want more sauce from their hot sauce bar - free). For those that have never been to a Tijuana Flats, give this one a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed. And if something misses the mark, if you tell the staff, they will correct it and make you happy. It's definitely a service-oriented restaurant (with good food as a bonus). read more

Just for my credibility I am a fan of both authentic and Americanized Mexican food. I just wasn't a fan of this place. I ordered a chicken burrito bowl with all the toppings-lettuce, sour cream, cheese, tomato, guacamole, and jalapeño. The chicken was dry and bland, the lettuce was sad and wilted, and honestly this place can step up their food game with pico de gallo instead of plain tomato, c'mon it's the necessary basics. This place does get three stars for a good amount of fresh tortilla chips, funky sauces, and good service. But sad to say I'll stick to Taco Bell and Moe's for flavor. read more

It has a ton of fun colors and the staff does seem to be lively! For my taste it was a little too bland, but I have really high expectations for Mexican food, since I am Mexican. First of all, I tried to order my food online and pay at the restaurant. The option wasn't available. I had to call my order in. I called at 3:05PM. The person taking my order was busy talking to someone else and me at the same time. I felt like the guy was rushing me. I was try to find what I wanted online so I didn't forget something. He said he would just give me some hot sauce when I didn't answer him fast enough. After we finished discussing the major part of the order, I made him return to the hot sauce issue to get what I wanted and not what he wanted me to have. Order was to be ready for pick up in 20 min. I arrived 10 mins later with the intention of sitting down to enjoy a taco while waiting for my food since I hadn't eaten all day, but the guy at the door decided otherwise. As I walked in the door, the first thing out of his mouth was "do you have a mask?". I said it was in the car. He never said hello or anything polite. I'm not perfect and forget it at times. I decided I wasn't going to sit in a hostile environment, so he quickly ushered me to the door to pay for my food and told me he would bring it to me at my car. I told him which car I was in and pointed it out. A red convertible. You can't miss it. At 3:50 another car parks next to me to pick up their food. The rude young man comes out to help the new customer and sees me. He quickly rushes back in to get my food. I told him he forgot about me and he admitted he did. Being KIND is SUPER IMPORTANT! GOOD customer service is SUPER IMPORTANT! I hope this isn't a trend for TF. My mom and I have been patrons for years and the waiters/waitresses that were so good are all gone. The food was good and I enjoyed the hot sauce bar. The best part of my visit however was the staff. The cashier, Sean, was great. I have a very severe avocado allergy and am always really cautious about places that handle avocado. Without any persuading, Sean was immediately taking me seriously and even turned to inform the kitchen staff and request they take extra precaution to avoid cross contamination as I was ordering. When the food was delivered the waitress also made sure to mention to me that they made sure there wasn't any avocado around. The last time I ate here was a few years ago. The food was OK, but there was a political bumper sticker on the front of the order entry bar. It said something to the effect of "Have a great day and annoy a liberal." I felt placing a politically themed wall decoration in a restaurant was a very dumb thing to do. While on vacation we found this place, it was awesome that we were greeted even before walking in the door and were told of that days specials. The place is very colorful, spacious and the employees were extremely helpful and extremely nice. The best was getting bottomless chips, salsa, guacamole and queso when we ordered the Tijuana Trio (I love chips & guac.)The food is fulfilling for the price that is paid. They have a variety of hot sauces ( from sweet to super duper hot) to choose from at the hot sauce bar. I tried to taste their hottest sauce and like a wimp I chickened out. I'm a veteran of Tijuana Flats here in Pensacola. Overall, I love the joint. Super tasty, always fresh, consistent, well-trained and friendly staff. It's a solid spot for tacos, burritos, chimis, and good company. Tacos are some of the best in town, but granted, Pensacola doesn't have a large variety of choices. This place is mostly Tex Mex. The sauce bar is great if you like to experiment with some different flavors and heat levels. Again, tasty and always a good choice. Taco Tuesdays = $5.49 for two tacos, nachos, and a drink. Win. I've seen the store evolve through the years. I think it used to be a little more "collegy" with beer boxes stacked up, etc. and maybe they may have tried to migrate ever so slightly towards a more family friendly place (which I've taken my kids here a bunch of times). The only significant drawback is the sizing of the place. It can get really crowded at lunch and if the weather isn't good and you can't find seating outside, you may have to stand up and wait. We love Tijuana Flats. The tacos are huge and stuffed with meat and toppings. They offer several different types of meat, from chicken to beef and beans. You can choose what toppings you get, and if you want beans and rice with your meal. Let's be honest, the best part about Tijuana Flats is the sauce bar. Hers was extra loaded with bell peppers to the point she took most of them off and had a big pile of them on her plate . Their specials are always worth trying, as they are all really good, though you can't go wrong with a burrito or tacos. This is the BEST place in town!! Awesome food, I have never had anything that wasn't great. Their black beans are lard-free. Their fresh-made chips have a sprinkling of finely ground salt and pepper. Tacos are fantastic, No-rrito bowl is total yumminess ( though it doesn't come with chips so you have to ask for them on the side of you want them) Taco salad is impressive. On the sweet side, the churros are perfectly crispy and piping hot, if the inside of your mouth has sufficient recovered from the heat! Speaking of, and I should have started here, their hot sauce bar is wondrous!! If you are wimpy, you can try the ones on the left side, but if you are a seasoned hot sauce aficionado, go all out for the Iguana En Fuego. It will leave you speechless, quite literally! ;-) ALL the staff provides exceptional customer service every day. We should know, we are there at least three times every week. Stopped in here for the first time today with a party of 5. The waitress who greeted us was all over the place, speaking very fast and stumbling over her words. She cleaned a table off for us, and left it wet. We had to dry it ourselves. We kept telling her one of the people in our party has a hearing disability so to please slow down and speak up as the music was far too loud. She did not do as we asked. We ordered, the food came quickly and it was pretty good. Flavorful, fresh and true to the menu. I really wanted to give this place 4 or 5 stars because we really did enjoy the food, but the staff makes you feel rushed. At least the waitress that kept coming over to our table, more than 8 times, as we were eating and conversing, made us feel rushed and like she wanted us to leave. Then, who I assumed to be the manager came over and asked us the same thing, both gave us the vibe that they wanted us to leave. We were there with people who had just suffered a familial loss and we were getting together to comfort them and talk for the evening. It was quite uncomfortable to have staff hovering over us, making us feel rushed. If the staff wouldn't do this, I would give it a higher rating. Well return sometime for the food, however, as we all did enjoy it, and the prices are more than fair, and the portions are great. read more

Nastiest Mexican food I have ever had. I am from the southwest and I know what real Mexican and Tex-Mex is supposed to taste like. I ordered a chimichanga to go and live not too far. By the time I got home it was soggy and the awful sour cream they squirt on top curdled already it was the most disgusting thing I ever seen and I have even survived Tijuana tacos years ago lol. Then I read the other reviews about the food poisoning and after what I experienced I believe it. What I don't understand is why they aren't posted first and not at the bottom?! Never would I recommend that dump to anyone. Pensacola needs a real Mexican food place all of them around here suck. All they build are the same freakin fast food dumps. read more
