A magical fusion of Japanese and Spanish food and flavors by Chef Blaise. Everything we had was perfect and memorable. It's hard to pick a favorite but I would say the crispy rice tuna and pork belly/ chicken oysters Yakitori were a must! The tartine was delicate and the drinks were all amazing. The blend of flavor profile makes sense and is unique. The restaurant is located inside the Grand Hyatt hotel. The restaurant has a trendy theme.

I am not sure if Chef Richard Blais was here when we visited. My ten family and friends had a 6:15 PM dinner reservation. We arrived here at 6:15 PM. We waited several minutes for the staff to rearrange the tables for our large party of ten. The restaurant inside is very small. I enjoyed my three draft Asahi Super Dry to start. I used to enjoy my draft Asahi Super Dry when I used to visit Japan on business. We shared and enjoyed the grilled Octopus with parsley aioli and paprika oil for $23. The octopus turned out to be the best part of our dinner. Ramen was a daily special (not on the regular menu). I love ramen, but this ramen was very bland even after I added all of my extra spice. Two of my guests also ordered the ramen special and said the same thing. One commented that the ramen tasted like brown water. Also very few noodles were in the ramen. Some of my guests ordered and shared another daily special seafood paella, which they did not mention that it takes a long time to prepare the daily special seafood paella. Needless to say the seafood paella was served after everyone was done with their appetizers and dinners. Five of my family members left the table in disgust. Five of us remained at the table sharing the seafood paella. We complained to our server Logan M. and the manager about the several problems we experienced here. As a result they finally agreed to apply my friend's 20% Hyatt food discount to our bill. My total bill was $551 after the 20% discount, including the automatic 20% added gratuity. My family and friends were all disappointed with our dining experience here. They all said it was not worth $551. I can not recommend this place for all of the above reasons. I expect that they will not survive here very long. I will see if they are still here next year. Also as you can see from my other many reviews I rarely rate a restaurant with only 2 stars, however this place earned my 2 stars. They were lucky not to receive only 1 star. 18 of my reviews are rated with only 2 stars. More to come regarding our other many experiences at this newly renovated and upgraded Grand Hyatt Resort, which I love since I have visited here several times before.

From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I was impressed by its stylish atmosphere. The combination of contemporary Japanese design, warm lighting, and the lively open robata grill created an inviting and upscale setting without feeling overly formal. After browsing the menu, I decided to order the black cod, a dish that had been highly recommended. When it arrived, the presentation was simple yet elegant, allowing the quality of the ingredients to take center stage. The aroma alone hinted that I was in for something special. The first bite exceeded my expectations. The black cod was incredibly tender and flaky, practically melting in my mouth. It was cooked perfectly, with a delicate texture that remained moist throughout. The glaze added a wonderful balance of sweetness and savory depth without overpowering the natural flavor of the fish. Every bite was rich, buttery, and beautifully balanced. The accompanying ingredients complemented the cod perfectly, adding freshness and subtle textures that elevated the entire dish. It was evident that great care had gone into both the preparation and presentation. Even though the portion wasn't enormous, the richness of the fish made it surprisingly satisfying. The service throughout the meal was exceptional. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to explain the menu and offer recommendations. The food arrived promptly, and every course was served with professionalism that matched the restaurant's reputation. Beyond the food, I really appreciated the atmosphere. Watching the chefs prepare dishes over the robata grill added an entertaining element to the dining experience, while the restaurant maintained a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance that made it easy to enjoy the evening. Overall, my experience eating black cod at Roka Akor Scottsdale was outstanding. The combination of expertly prepared seafood, high-quality ingredients, attentive service, and an elegant atmosphere made it one of the most memorable meals I've had. If you're visiting Roka Akor, I highly recommend ordering the black cod--it's a beautifully executed dish that showcases the restaurant's commitment to exceptional Japanese-inspired cuisine. For our of state visitors it is located in an area that provides a great destination for conferences and vacation launching point to enjoy what Scottsdale has to offer. Parking 5/5 There is a great turn-about like drop off near the front door I took advantage of. Other semi private parking is located along the west and south in front and behind the restaurant. Ambiance 5/5++ After passing through the foyer, you're greeted by staff receptionists who quickly get your experience started. The restaurant opens up to a large open dining space that includes an impressive "baresk" wrap around serving counter which allows guests to experience and interact with the kitchen staff. Adjacent to the main dining area is a very trendy wraparound bar and a little more intimate lounge with tables for guest meetups, date nights, after business meetings or relax after playing 18 holes at a nearby course. Facing the bar is the wine cellar, a floor to ceiling long glass presentation of their collection. There is a separate special event room in the back for hosting private dinners with special event reservations. Tonight this room was reserved for Yelp's "Elite All-Stars" and hosted by the Roka-Akar and the wonderful Phoenix Yelp Community Manager (CM) Francheska J, I popped my head in to say hello to her and she was kind enough to give me some merch. Congratulations to Roka-Akor for launching this beautiful Resturant in Scottsdale and to Yelp and Francheska for putting on a great experience for your Elite All-Stars! This McCormick Ranch location is so much more inviting, from the setup and ambiance to the staff. We came on a date night with our youngest son, who loves sushi just as much as we do, and we ended up trying at least 10 different dishes. Everything was fresh, tasty, and really well done. The quality definitely stood out. The service was excellent, attentive, kind, and on top of it without feeling rushed. It made the whole experience even better. If you're looking for good sushi in the McCormick Ranch area, this is a great spot. Pro tip: hit it during happy hour, especially if you're feeding sushi to a growing kid the happy hour sushi options are clutch. We'll definitely be back.

Wow!! What an incredible experience we had at Kasai Scottsdale…read more This place has a very luxurious feel and the service is top notch. We came in for a birthday party & got one of the Teppanyaki tables. Our waiter was awesome & the Chef for the table was well suited for the job! He was so fun and cracked a lot of jokes that everyone enjoyed. He kept everyone engaged throughout the entire experience. He made everyone at the table catch rice in their mouths- even if it took 5-6 tries per person The food was delicious - the portions were on point. The prices were fair. It's on expensive side, but part of the cost is definitely for the experience, which is well worth it. All in all, everyone had an amazing time. This is the perfect place to come with a group to share some laughs and create a memory that nobody will forget. It is so fun to see your meal cooked right before your eyes & interact with the chef throughout. I've been to similar places in the past & none of them compare to Kasai! We will definitely be back!

I suggest going somewhere else that is actually worth the time and money. We arrived there on time but they weren't ready for us yet. It took over 30 minutes for us to get a chef to our table and cook. We sat at the table hungry. The quality of food was not worth the prices. We ordered the steak ($50, definitely not worth it) and they did not cook it right. It was overdone. We also ordered salmon. I couldn't believe my eyes... the salmon ($38, not worth it) they had brought to our table was still half frozen! I had mentioned this at the table. I was ignored. I had to ask many times for different things from the chef due to the food not being good. I should have not ate it and just said something at the time but the waiter was in a bad mood and the chef wasn't the friendliest. The workers seemed tired and wanting to be there to do the job. I'd rather stay silent because I know how it can be working at a restaurant that has been busy. Our service... the waiter wasn't patient and had an attitude from the very beginning. I looked over at my friends and we kind of went silent. The performance at the hibachi lacked. I know the chef was probably worn out but our reservation was at 5 pm. Not late at all. We were super let down because the restaurant itself was beautiful but so many bad things happened. The only thing I liked from the restaurant was the happy hour they had a few nice drinks. That's it. The place is not accessible. there are places you have to step up, watch wear you step, it has a lot of declines and inclines. Not a lot of accessible parking. The entrance is so far away from most of the parking. Not enough room at tables for wheelchairs or scooters. It was super loud, very smoky and irritated not only my eyes my almost everyone at our table and other tables.
