A very strange lunch experience. We were very happy to learn that our dog is now accepted on the resort grounds. On a slow Monday afternoon, sat outside for lunch, and were greeted by Berlyn, our server. Downhill from there. Slow to bring cocktails; thereafter, we ordered lunch. After awhile, she returned and asked if we wanted anything else. We noted that we were awaiting our lunch. Oh, she would go check on it. She returned and noted that the staff had dropped it on the floor, and had to remake it. Lunch finally came; food was good. We ordered a second drink; when she returned with the drink order, she noted that my beer was the end of the tapper. It was 2/3 full. WHAT!! When the bill came, there was no comp for the wait time, nor the partially full beer. The tip matched the service. read more

We ate here for dinner on 2/20/21. We had terrible service, food was sloppily thrown together and seemed like the staff couldn't get rid of us fast enough. First let me say that we knew they closed at 10p and they assured us we would have plenty of time to eat for our 8:30p reservation. What they failed to tell us is that alcohol stopped being ordered at 9p due to NC governor mandate. I totally understand the mandate but at least tell your tables in advance so they can plan wine appropriately w their dinner. In fact we ordered more at 8:59p and they still refused us. THEN shortly after this at approximately 9:15 - they started vacuuming around us and moving tables around us before our food even came out. It was clear they wanted everyone to leave so we just asked for our food to go. Then when we got back w our food, it was also clear that the food was sloppily thrown into the boxes as everything was tossed together. Absolute terrible service, crappy attitudes and clearly focused on leaving early with utmost disregard to your customers. We won't be returning. read more

I took my family to Timberlake's Restaurant after seeing the show at Ensemble Stage the night before. I'd never been to Chetola Resort before, and I'm so glad I took the opportunity to go inside! The grounds and lake are positively beautiful! Because the family was leaving later that morning we all quickly chose to partake of the breakfast buffet: Assorted cereals, seasonal fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, omelets to order, assorted breakfast meats, smoked salmon, sliced tomatoes, pancakes, oatmeal, grits, homemade baked goods, yogurts, hot teas, regular and decaf coffee. A bounty of goodness! All of the food was very good, and the view of the ducks and the lake and the grounds and landscaping was delightful! The price was phenomenal as well: only $12 per person! Our server was delightful, and kept our drinks filled and plates cleared efficiently but without hovering. After the family left, on Friday night, I found out they were having a jazz concert on the patio, oo I went back! A beautiful fire pit, a full bar, and some seriously world-class jazz with a woman named Michelle Amato. If there's any chance to hear her, don't miss it! read more

My husband, daughter and I ate dinner at Timberlake and it was fantastic!! Very rustic and mountainy atmosphere and food was superb. We ordered the shrimp and grit cake appetizer, which was rich and delicious. We split a Caesar salad and the seafood pasta for dinner. One of the best pastas I've ever eaten. When staying at the resort my g/f and I decided to try this for a quick bite to eat and for breakfast. The food is good and the service is great. It is relatively small and not crowded. Given it is on the resort it has a laid back feel. During dinner we had a cheese appetizer that was exceptional. We asked the server and in a couple minutes the cchef came out and told us what the cheese was. he ended up chatting with us for a little while and was exceptionally nice. Try this place if you are staying at theresort or looking for a laid back atmosphere and good solid food. read more

What a disappointment. Within walking distance of our mountain timeshare, Timberlake's really wanted to be enjoyable. The live music was quite good and the hunting/fishing lodge decor was pleasantly comfortable. But things went south immediately when we waited for almost 15 minutes after being seated to be visited by a wait person. Had we not asked the hostess to address the problem, I am convinced that we would be sitting there still. The "other station" waitress who was summoned to take care of us made a point of indicating that we were not her table. Prices are reasonable in Blowing Rock's resort environment. The wine list was ok and the menu certainly seemed interesting. But poorly trained service reared it's head again when our entrees were delivered almost exactly an hour after we had been seated. Two tables near us had similar problems...one was delivered incorrect orders and the other (who was in place long before we arrived) waited so long after we were finally served that I believe they were comped. When our food finally arrived (Blackened Seafood Pasta, Mountain Trout) it was quite good, although not exceptional and certainly not good enough to make up for the service gaffs. Timberlake's appears to have waitstaff training and kitchen communication problems. Given that there are several very good restaurants nearby in Blowing Rock, I won't be back until I have some reason to believe that they have resolved their issues. read more

My wife and I went here for our 5 year anniversary and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was very elegant with some live jazz Christmas music playing in the main room. We started off with their charcuterie board which was great and for our entrees we got the filet and the elk. The elk was delicious and I would highly recommend it! Beautiful rustic dining room fits perfectly with the rest of the Chetola resort. Recommend making a reservation as the first night we went they were booked. The filet was one of the best steaks we've ever had, also ordered the shrimp and grit cakes. Very generous pour on wines by the glass. Timberlake's has a very limited and disappointing menu, with not many great choices. For example, I ordered their strip steak, which turned out to be very chewy and gristly. In addition, the three vegetable side dishes offered to us with the entrees were mashed potatoes, grits, or Greek pasta salad. Not one green or even semi-green vegetable on the list. I have been to Greece several times, but I have never heard of Greek pasta salad. Sounds like it might be Rice-a-Roni with Greek olives. The chef could have gone a quarter mile away up the hill to Food Lion and bought a much better selection of vegetables, even frozen. We have been to Blowing Rock 15 times, but this was a learning experience for us. There are many better restaurant choices in Blowing Rock. read more

Group of 6 dined outside. Was 15 minutes before anyone took our drink orders and service was slow and lacking for the remainder of the meal. 3 people in our party ordered steaks medium rare and all 3 came out extremely well done. When the steaks were sent back the manager brought them back to us and said they were cooked right and it was the "lighting outside" that made them appear well done, which was absurd and insulting. One member sent the steak back again and after 30 minutes we hadn't seen our waitress or manager. Said they over cooked the 2nd steak again and at that point we said not to even worry about it since the waitress informed us she had to go home to nurse her 2 year old. A lot of the meal was comped but it was an extremely disappointing experience at a resort that is always fun to stay at. Drinks were good as well as the atmosphere, but I will not be back here to eat. read more

This is the second time I have been GREATLY disappointed in my meal at Timberlake resturant. The roasted red potatoes were hard, cold and leathery. The collards has no taste to them at all. The peach Bourbon shortcake spa mode was terrible. The 3 peaches that were on our were hard as rocks and the cake was very dry. All in all, it was not good. The food here is simply outstanding! Timberlakes is inside the Chetola Resort complex at the main lodge. As you walk in the doors you are consumed with nostalgia from the early 1900's. The wood décor is lined with old pictures of the resort and winter sports memorabilia on the walls. To the right is the neat little bar with a couple of TV's and some tables for dining. To the left is the hostess table and a few tables in the main room with a fireplace. Then there is a smaller quaint room that we sat in by the windows overlooking the lake. We started out with a couple of appetizers, a tequila-lime shrimp on home-made crostini, the mahi tuna and the seafood soup which had salmon, shrimp, potatoes that was well spiced and very creamy. The half rack of ribs were as big as a full rack elsewhere was fall off the bones and had chefs own bourbon based sweet sauce. The duck was cooked perfectly as were the scallops over pasta and I had the Chetola Jack Daniels Sirloin with bleu cheese, carmalized onions, and mushroom topping. I've never had such a tender perfectly cooked steak anywhere(even my own house). The atmosphere, the employees ( and a shout-out to our server Mason) the whole experience was just fantastic. On certain nights they have a marshmellow roast at a huge firepit with live music and a cash bar. also there is a gas firepit right outside the restaurant to sit and relax after dinner with a drink (or two). This is a must go to place and you will not be disappointed. read more

Such an amazing, warm, and welcoming place. Completely unpretentious. It was all decorated for Christmas and beautiful. Everyone there was so warm, and made you truly feel that you were welcome. The food was delicious, too. Unique and interesting dishes based on the history of Chetola. read more

My husband and I visited for an early anniversary dinner. The atmosphere and view from the patio was delightful. A wedding reception was being held by the pond so we were able to enjoy music from their celebration while dining outside. My food was delicious. We began with the pimento cheese dip with crostinis. Next we both had salad with an excellent house made blue cheese. I had the Jack Daniels NY strip and garlic mashed potatoes. I could only eat half although it was so good it was hard to stop eating! At least I have the leftovers to look forward to. My husband had the quail and mashed potatoes. He rated his meal as "alright". However, I believe this may be due to the fact that he had never had quail before, and perhaps he doesn't favor it. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The only advice I have is that it was too dark by the time our entree arrived for seating at the outskirts of the patio. They should either install more lighting or ensure guests at that time of the evening are seated on the porch or very close to the fire. We weren't too far from the fire, but would've preferred to see our plates better. Overall, we would definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice evening out. read more

We brought friends who were visiting us to Timberlake's on Thursday night. The chef has put up a new menu and the choices are amazingly good. The four of us had the salmon, scallops and a pasta dish that was very nicely spiced. Our meals were all wonderful. Our server, Mac, was very helpful and efficient and everything clicked for a great evening in a perfect setting. We are pleased when we bring friends to restaurants that we like and things turn out as well as promised. read more

Had Easter buffet today (4/1/18) - been going there for years. The atmosphere and staff were great as usual. Unfortunately, for the first time there were some issues for me: the coffee was not good as usual (very important to me), possibly changed blends; fewer vegetable choices; only fruit was in a salad with a dressing mixed in that wasn't good; only choice of individual cheese was shredded cheddar. The price has also become to costly. Probably will be looking for a new location for Easter dinner!!! read more

We just spent 2 nights at the resort and enjoyed it so much! We had breakfast buffet both mornings and it was yummy. Nice variety and attentive wait staff. Be sure to ask for an omelette if you want. Beautiful view of the lake during your meal. We also enjoyed dinner last night and it was wonderful. Again service was great! Meals were well prepared. Had a great dinner last night on the patio. The Shrimp and Grits starter was delicious and some of the best we have had recently. The trout entree was moist and flavorful and well prepared. The service was great and the wait staff were all friendly, and attentive. The live music was a nice addition and not intrusive so we could still have a conversation while they played. Over all a great experience. My only suggestion would be to have maybe a temporary meet and greet hostess station at the entrance to the patio area from the parking lot during Summer months. Even though there were signs directing people to go inside to be seated, we noticed it made for some awkward moments for several people that came up and were unsure about whether to walk across the crowded patio area where the wait staff was trying to deliver orders or try to maneuver a different way to go inside. read more

Let me start by saying that their service and ambiance was fantastic. Our waitress Maggie was both professional and accurate. We were even given a couple free appetizers due to a reservation mix up, giving credit to excellent management and customer service. The reason I have chosen to give them three stars instead of five is based solely on the quality of their food. While the steaks, both the sirloin and the filet, were fantastic, everything else I would identify as not worth the price. For appetizer we had the ahi tuna, Napoleon, and pimento cheese. In my opinion the tuna was overcooked, the cheese was nothing special, and the Napoleon needed a bit extra to justify the 8$ price tag. On to the main entrees, I had their special which was mahi stuffed with blue crab dressed with a Tabasco lemon sauce. The mahi was overcooked and the sauce tasted like pure lemon juice. I was able to try both the pimento chicken and the sirloin and filet steak dishes. The chicken was nothing special. It came with Parmesan crusted mash potatoes and asparagus. The size portions were small for the price. Mash was incredibly generic and didn't deserve the title Parmesan crusted. The chicken had too much gravy that eclipsed the flavor of the chicken: the steak was definitely the highlight of the night. It was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Lastly, we had 3 out of 4 of their desserts. The vanilla bean coconut cake, chocolate ganache, and apple cobbler. The chocolate ganache was surprisingly good, the cobbler was reliably delicious, but the vanilla bean cake tasted dry due to being recently defrosted. I enjoyed the dinner overall but was honestly disappointed by a majority of the food . read more
