GREAT gym! Boutique feel where folks seem to care about their health and fitness without the hype. There are plenty of options (pilates, weight-training, etc...) They have great trainers who are focused on truly helping you with professionalism and experience, not like at the big box gyms. Ask for Will -- we've really enjoyed our new lifestyle with his coaching. We're both more toned, have more energy, and the clothes are fitting nicely. Ha! Easy drive from downtown, West U, Montrose, even the Heights. Some of the people who train here drive in from Spring and Sugarland. Great place to focus on bettering yourself without all the distractions. So glad we found this place! read more

One of the best discoveries made in Houston: Timberline Fitness! The equipment is top notch, as are the trainers- there's something for everyone: personal or group circuit training, Pilates, spinning, boxing.. diet & nutrition assistance .. I found Timberline online, scheduled an appt with the owner, Dean Thirioult, and have been working out 3 x week for over a year ever since. To the person, everyone is very friendly and ready to share their knowledge and experience. The further from Age 21 you are, the more important it is to stay in shape- what better way than with warm professionals in a great environment?! It's definitely worth it! PS- I fractured my hand six months ago (not in the gym) and was in a cast for weeks. Dean customized my work out to keep fitness up, and weight down.. all very much appreciated! Timberline Fitness is a solid gym. They have all the equipment you need without a horde of people waiting for you to finish your work out. They are situated on Branard on the intersection of Montrose right next to Canopy and Wood bar. You will never notice this place if you just drive by. Parking is a little bit of an issue because I was not too sure where to park but I parked on the street and came inside. The front desk person was very helpful and gave me a complete tour of the place. My favorite part is that in addition to the main weight room, they have a hidden old school style weight room upstairs that you have to go to through a class room. When I was there, they had a yoga class taking place which seemed like the kumbaya type where you don't feel like you are going to not be able to move by the end of it. It had the vibe that it was catered towards working professionals in their mid to late 30s onwards. The restrooms here are spotless clean with the cutest lockers available. The equipment area is organized and actually has weights in descending and ascending orders (depending on which you are looking at it) unlike gyms (*cough*all LA Fitness locations*cough*) I have visited in Houston. If you can think of a gym to have the feeling of Cheers where everyone knows your name, then this is it. read more

Great gym. I've been coming here for about two years, and it gives me just the experience I'm looking for. I work out in a morning class run by Dean (one of the co-owners) and he's top-notch. He's able to give everyone personal attention while still keeping the whole group on track. And overall there's a great atmosphere in the gym - the trainers are friendly, as are the other clients. I always look forward to my workout, which certainly hasn't​ always been the case at other places. read more

This gym, while small, is full of personality. I was recommend by a friend to try a Pilates class with Sara. You'd of thought I'd been around her and the other class takers forever. They were so nice and helpful with all of the reformer moves, it made me feel so welcomed. The comradery developed with the rest of the ladies makes going to class the highlight of my day. Definitely a place for someone who enjoys working out in groups. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I had initial concerns when another gym basically turned me away. Kelsey not only called me, but she reassured me of all of my uncertainties! I went from being useless to feeling strong, working hard, and finally having a good routine. Kelsey is the perfect trainer for me too, it's a fantastic combination of pilates (which I had NEVER done before), weight training, and cardiovascular work that I have NEVER tried before! A great neighborhood gym for regular people - I've been coming for years. The trainers are supportive of your objectives and will customize the workout for you. It's busy in the early mornings when I go, but never crowded and never a "scene" like other gyms. timberline is like 'cheers'...everybody knows your name. my fiance and i started going to the gym to get in shape for our september wedding and were kicking and screaming when we had to leave tx for our cross country move. we had several personal training sessions with jeff, who is such a sweetheart and is really great for improving techniques to prevent injuries. he's very relaxed and is one of the timberline yoga instructors. we also did the boot camp classes -- which were held in small groups on monday with garrett, tuesday with dean and thursday with terrance. basically they'd kick your butt for an hour and 15 minutes :) it was great working with the 3 trainers, they all have variable techniques/styles that challenge your body in different ways. timberline is a small gym that's relaxed, seriously fun and is full of modern and diversified equipment. you'll get one heck of a workout and you'll find yourself making some great friends! we miss timberline so much and would HIGHLY recommend to anyone at any fitness level! dean, you should open a timberline in jersey :D read more

I have a number of very good choices for a fitness gym and I chose to go to Timberline because, 1. They are extremely knowledgeable and take your individual situation into consideration. 2.It is a very professional staff and client group, 3. It is consistent with a very stable trainer base. This place is great and the owner operators are top notch. They say they take fitness seriously and they do! My wife and I have been working out at Timberline for 12 years so that pretty much says it all. read more

I came in to check out the place since it's close to my work and I was interested in getting some personal training and possibly joining. When I walked in though, the girl at the front desk was clearly not interested in making this happen. I waited around in the front area for almost ten minutes while she chatted with another (male) employee. Finally I went over and told them I was in a hurry and wanted to look around the gym. They both looked annoyed, but the girl, whose name was Sarah, finally got up and briefly showed me around. Then she tried to sell me some personal training sessions with her. Yeah, right. The gym is not very big. They've got a small number of machines downstairs and a few more upstairs, but I can easily see them running out if it gets crowded. And the prices are absolutely ridiculous. $300 registration fee and $85 a month? For that much I would at least expect employees who greet you when you walk in the door. You can find a lot better gyms in Houston at a lot better prices. read more

Excellent body-specific workout equipment as well as a huge selection of free weights. This is a serious gym that welcomes, and assists amateurs like me. Physically and mentally a good space in which to spend valuable time. Very clean throughout. Boyfriend and I just started doing personal training sessions at this gym. So far so good! It's never busy, there is no grunting which is rather nice as that is quite distracting. They have an outdoor space in front of the gym so on a nice day we have done training outside. Everyone seems pretty nice so far and the facility is very clean which is key considering folks are sweating all over the place. I will re-review this gym in another 2 months.
