Yesterday my wife's family and I went to dinner here. I had ordered the chicken parmigiana which was disappointing. The chicken was burnt all around the edges and tasted stale. Pleasantly surprised. Went as a party of three, had the potato pancakes as an app (weekend before St. Pats). They were good, nothing special. I had the Fish Tacos, excellent, very authentic. They were served with Spanish Rice with lots of Queso on top. GF had the Carolina Cakes, Carolina bbq stuffed with Goat Cheese rolled in bread crumbs and fried. These were unique and delicious and were served with Mac & Gouda cheese. GF's cousin had the Clint Eastwood burger, nothing wrong there. I thought the pricing was reasonable, service was good, and a good selection of craft beers. As others had mentioned the place was loud but not obnoxious. read more

Awesome local restaurant on my side of town. Because of its accessibility and it's service my coworkers and I frequent here often. The staff is helpful and attentive additionally the atmosphere is light. I've visited with friends and family for quick meals and large gatherings and we have always been accommodated well. I do recall on one of my most recent visits there was a. It of a bee/wasp/stinging bug concern in the outdoor area but the subsided as the evening passed. They have an INCREDIBLY large drink menu as well. So if the spirits call ya... this is definitely a place for you. read more

We have found our new spot in Charlottesville! We are traveling from Ohio and like to try places we don't have at home. We are so happy we tried a Timberwood Grill. The nachos were delicious. I had a spinach salad that was amazing and my husband loved his sandwich and fries. My daughter got the grilled cheese and said yum with every bite. It also came with fruit that was cut to the perfect size for a toddler. We enjoyed our meal and are only disappointed that we wouldn't be able to come more often due to living so far away. read more

This is somewhat of a hot spot in Charlottesville... lots of cars in the parking lot at happy hour time, but there's lots of seating inside and out to accommodate it. Lacks ambiance for me. Kinda has a glorified BW3 vibe. Menu is varied with salads, sanwiches, and entrees. We got fish tacos and the stuffed tilapia. Fish tacos were DRY. The tilapia on the stuffed tilapia was good, but the crabcake wasn't so much. The risotto was okay. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. So overall, the entire experience was just okay for me. They seem to like to put cheese on everything. A good meal should have a balance of flavors, not just be covered with cheese because cheese by itself is good. And I LOVE cheese. The best part is the beer menu, which is really good. Lots to choose from and they even provide a description of each beer that they offer. I will say that the customer service was pretty impressive. The manager (I guess) checked on us and wanted to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. We didn't like one of the beers we ordered, and he let us know we could always sample them before ordering a full glass, then offered us another choice. read more

Looking for a place to eat after leaving the ER on profitt road we feb this place a try. Chicken wings and Brie-Chetta were delicious and I had the steak frites. Perfectly cooked steak medallions, hand cut and awesome fries with fresh veggie kabobs and truffle cream sauce. Need I say more?? Yes, my moms chicken was moist and delicious as well in a cream sherry sauce. Don't skip the awesome NY style cheesesteak. We are from buffalo and highly approve of the wings and cheesesteak. So, I suppose this is my own fault because we already know what expect when we come to Timberwood and I know I haven't left a great review in the past so I don't expect much to change. We came in Sunday to watch football and have a beer and my wife's friends where there...she had one beer and I had two beers...and her friends offered to buy some shots...after the second or third shot the bartender asked if "we had a safe ride home" And that "she didn't want to lose her job over us"...yes this is the bartenders jobs but over the course of 3-4 hours of watching football I don't find 1-2 beers and a few shots excessive and really I found it more offensive than anything...additionally the other party kept buying the shots but at the end the bartender asked "so how are we doing the shots, should I just split them"? Which was kind of Awkward for us...so we ended up paying an almost 70 dollar tab for drinks we didn't really want and never ordered. I know this isn't totally the restaurants fault but having worked in the service industry for 10+ years I would never ask somebody else to pick up the tab for what others ordered...just another disappointing expedience. read more

So, Timberwood Grill is a solid choice for a casual meal. I love (love) the happy gilmore with veggie patty. Fried jalepenos and two kinds of cheese. So good. I imagine the meat version is also good, though I can't vouch for that. Other reviewers have mentioned the deliciousness of the honey butter that comes with the free bread - they aren't lying. That stuff is delicious. Oh, and the beer selection is fantastic, lots on tap and even more in bottles. Burger and beer (and honey butter). Worth a stop! read more

We always stop whenever in town visiting grandkids. Great specialty burgers, curry corn chowder is something unobtainable elsewhere and I order it every visit, and the staff are pleasant and efficient. Son says the Cuban sandwich is wonderful. Nothing to complain about! read more

Went to this restaurant for a late night meal while on travel, had never been before. Got there just before the kitchen was about to end their full dinner menu, managed to order their mushroom ravioli just in time. I was really surprised at how quickly it came out and how good it was (with the pesto cream sauce). The portion size was good, but I was more hungry than I thought, so I ordered the crab dip with toast. It was also delicious. This place has an extensive beer selection, very friendly staff, and a delicious menu serving an assortment of hearty salads, soups, sandwiches, and varying (steak, fish, shellfish, pasta, etc.) entrees. We had a large party, 12 of us, and they quickly set up and graciously endured the gazillion questions from my very inquisitive extended family in the chilly dining room. The food was consistent, though not outstanding. My steak special was a little dry and overcooked, though I asked for medium rare. Timberwood has a comfortable atmosphere and good wood. I had the general tso's cauliflower and a flank steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Food had a good taste mainly because of the seasoning. The prices were a little high but the portion sizes were pretty good. Just off Rt 29 and few miles north of Charlottesville VA. Ordered the Bacon Cheese burger. I asked for blue cheese instead of American cheese and was accommodated with no problem. The burger was delicious and juicy, cooked perfectly. I also ordered the 7 bean salad instead of fries. The bean salad was also yummy and a nice counter to the burger. Would have loved to ordered one of the many beers they have but alas, I was driving. Waitress nice and attentive. The restaurant was neat and bathroom clean. read more
