First time I really came there (as someone living close) was during a snowstorm. It was wild that they were open, but I was thankful, because I had trudged a couple miles in the snow to get a couple things from Wegmans, and didn't want to trudge back without some solid food, and a pleasant buzz. Home fries was nice and hot. Bacon burger was fresh but the beef was kind of bland. Nice sized patty though! Crab dip was pretty creamy and the toasted bread went great with it. So with a family of 6 this is place always seems to be the place that comes in "2nd" which means that everyone can find something to enjoy.

We live close and have eaten here many times. There is nothing that really stands out at all. Average food at an okay price.

This was our favorite takeout restaurant for a long time. Salads and burgers were amazingly fresh. Quality of food has decreased as the prices have increased. read more

Across from our hotel we went in to watch some football before the ceremony. Fun crowd at the bar, menu looked like better than just run of the mill pub food. Wings were excellent. Beer was cold. Well I found it on yelp Definitely didn't look like much and lived up to that description I set my expectations low and thank goodness. I follow keto so my first thought was order the steak. But my brain won and you just don't order a steak at an Applebee's type place. We all ordered burgers three of us, they asked us how we wanted them cooked (not sure why they all three came out well done, pulverized despite ordering them medium rare and medium. Super dry no seasoning. The two stars is for the service, the food received no stars none zero falling stars, falling into the cesspool of Virginia restaurants. And there are sooo many. Great classic restaurant when you are far up 29. The menu has a nice variety guaranteed to please everyone including picky little eaters :). Favorites that I often grab here are the Perfect Chicken Salad (chicken tenders cobb salad with yummy honey mustard dressing), al Capone burger (bacon and a delightful truffle mayo on a pretzel bun), and general Tso's cauliflower appetizer! I ate here years ago and never had a bad experience but years later I moved to the other end of town and until last year never came here. I have had a few meals here with my older sister and mom and some meals with the rest of the family too. The food is great (I love their burgers and Philly cheese steak) but their original fries are the sit down restaurant equivalent to McDonald's fries and by that I mean they're so good they're addicting!! They have a nice variety of food to choose from with other options besides fries. When Covid restrictions were in place they took them very serious and had even required you to mask up when your server or someone else was at your table. As much as I hate masks I love eating out and supporting local restaurants more so I didn't mind it. Be careful of what night you go because my family has been here and had a wait to get a table and right now they're short staffed and don't have every table open so they might fill up faster. In the warm weather they have nice patio seating out front with most of it covered as well as patio seating outside bar area. The bar area is a nice place to watch a game. Timberwood has become one of my favorite local restaurants for their great food and great service!! read more

I went here for the summer Charlottesville restaurant week for their $19 three-course meal deal, and overall it was a good experience! Got the brieschetta, steak frites, and New York cheesecake. Service was speedy and my water cup was never empty which I really appreciate. The food itself wasn't super spectacular by any means though which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars. Glanced at the regular menu and the steak frites alone are 19 dollars on a normal day, so I can't say I'd ever come here again when it's not restaurant week. I also thought they could have done better with playing, as I found the food was put together unceremoniously and not made for any aesthetic purpose. read more

Last night my daughter and 3 of her friends went there to have dinner. They shared crab dip and all of them got really sick. She's been sick all night and can't keep nothing down. Shame on them for selling bad food. If you go there be aware of seafood. Reason that I gave them 2 stars is because of their staff. They are hard working people. This place was a great find outside the edge of Charlottesville Virginia. Americana food. My burger was on a fancy brioche roll, with seasoned onion rings, mesquite flavoring, applewood bacon, jicama coleslaw on top, and cheddar cheese. Spicy and jazzy. The French fries were hand cut seasoned with sea salt and pepper. Delicious! The Pom Tini was too strong though and I couldn't finish it. The mixture wasn't right. I also had the crab dip and it was alright. I would give this place another try. The service was impeccable though. read more

On the way to my FIL's for thanksgiving, I ordered curbside pickup here. Paid online and gave info on my car. We sat in the parking lot for carry out parking for 10 mins before I realized no one was coming out. Went inside and was told they don't do curbside during the day. I got a veggie gyro and fries. Both were delectable. I docked them one star for the curbside debacle, but otherwise they were friendly and the food was stellar. So ya see it's like this. We come down on a frequent basis to Cvlle. Me, my girlfriend and her husband ate lunch here. The waitress was not pleasant although I could not tell if she was overworked or annoyed. She got the orders right but both my girlfriend and I ordered a southwestern chicken wrap. Hers had sauce inside and mine didnt as if the cook forgot. The coleslaw was nasty like it was old as hell so I spit it out. Next, my gf husband ordered a veggie burger which he said was the worst soggy mess and the fries were so overcooked and greasy they look like brown sticks. I tasted one and it was salty oily. I will not come here again as a result of this displeasing meal. I did not have the heart to mention to the waitress because she was so frowny. read more

Despite the negative review on Yelp, we received a very strong recommendation from some pilot friends that we give Timberwood Grill a try. Its convenient location to the Charlottesville airport (about 1.5 miles) makes it easy to stop in for a quick bite before flying out. I had the Clint Eastwood burger, and I must say I have never seen anything quite like it before. The burger itself was juicy, and the tangy BBQ sauce was nicely offset by the sweet jicama coleslaw, while the bacon had a nice smoked flavor. The burger was generously sized, but the staff were more than willing to bring a takeout box at the end of the evening for the remainder. Overall, this is an awesome burger. The waitress gave me the option of having some of the toppings on the side, but they played so well together that I must recommend going all in. My date had the T.S. Effkatts' Unaffected Beauty sandwich, of which I snuck a few bites. The croissant was light and fluffy, and the pesto mayo definitely added a nice flavor. It may not be my perfect sandwich, but it definitely was tasty. Many of their menu items are named after famous personalities, but we still haven't figured out who T.S. Effkatts is (Google only returns hits for the Timberwood Grill menu!). The restaurant atmosphere was nice, it didn't seem that anyone was smoking. And If there was someone, we couldn't smell it from the non-smoking section. The portions weren't entirely outrageous, and in fact, I think it's great to have leftovers to take home at the end of a meal. The next time we fly into Charlottesville we will definitely be back. Their menu is eclectic, and there are so many tasty-sounding options it would be hard to pass up an opportunity to try something new. read more

The service at Timberwood is hit and miss. Their carside to go service is always fabulous. Many of the entrees are very good- stay away from the soups which are not great. The salads and burgers are especially good. Fish tacos, ravioli, enchiladas and salmon are all very good. The honey butter with the bread is delicious. Kids meals are plentiful and good. Generic American food restaurant. Nothing exciting here. If you are looking for normal fare at normal prices, this is the place. The salads are pretty big, but you are paying 12-14$ for it so I would expect it to be big. Staff seemed pretty green, didn't refill my water timely nor checked on the table much.
