HOLY CRAP. We were going to skip lunch on our road trip but so glad we didn't and made a pit stop here. We weren't even feeling sandwiches! So, this review might change your mind if you were looking at options for lunch. You don't need options. This place is it. We got the two popular sandwiches and they were both EXQUISITE. 1. Chicken Satay Sandwich - Literally tastes like mouthfuls of chicken satay with bun. It is SO good and it's a big sandwich. This could be two meals almost if you ask me. I had the honey walnut shrimp and didn't know how this could top it, but it was definitely comparable in deliciousness 2. Honey Walnut Shrimp Sandwich - SO SO good. If you like honey walnut shrimp at a chinese restaurant, this is comparable. It's got the crispy shrimp, the sweet walnut, and a nice crunch. The only thing is the wait can be a little long but be patient because if your schedule allows, this place is definitely worth the wait. The wait is pretty accurate if you also ask them (we were told 20 min and got the food 22 min later). There is also some outdoor patio chair seating with tables so you can definitely wait in a good spot. read more

We stopped at Timmy's Brown Bag after a long day at Boa Vista. We were searching through Yelp for a great place to get some local food and saw the crazy menu items that Timmy's had. I'm already a huge sandwich fan, so sandwiches with unconventional toppings screamed my name. The big issue was trying to choose just one, there were SO MANY I wanted to try. After looking over their menu a few times I settled on the Baloney Fried, which was also listed as a staff favorite. It had mortadella, havarti, honey walnut aioli and smashed green olives on some tasty bread. It was a fancy bologna sandwich! The shop is small and has a little window to order from, but there's a bunch of outdoor seating around the shop. They do serve the sandwiches in a brown bag, so you can take it with you to explore more of the little shops and coffee spots, plus other tucked away seating in the area. I feel like I need to visit over and over again to try out more of the crazy combinations and I'll definitely make it a point to do so when I'm in the area. read more

The strangest weirdest and oddest sandwich combinations you will ever lay your eyes on. Big and messy and just mind bogglingly different and worth trying at least once. We went in because of the location and the rating. And then, we were so pleased with the unique food choices. I got the Jerked Chicken sandwich. It was so creative and messy and drippy and made my mouth happier than it had ever been in such a long time. My wife also enjoyed her Banh Mi inspired sandwich as well. The place is small and everything is to go. Think more of a permanent food truck type of place and not really a restaurant. The seating was ample and just a little chilly when we were there. If it's raining or cold this might not be the best place to eat...but on a mild northern california day this would be just perfect. I got to check out Timmy's Brown Bag during a weekend getaway in Placerville and it was such a nice treat! I happened to come across it on Yelp and was really intrigued by the menu, which is comprised of all sorts of different concoctions...Cheetos and cheez-its in a grilled cheese sandwich...what?? I got there near closing time so unfortunately, they were out of a number of sandwiches already, however, I was able to try the one I was hoping to try - the Thanksgiving sandwich. It's built as if you decided to make a sandwich out of leftover Thanksgiving dishes (which I enjoyed) and it led to a very satisfying food coma (also very reminiscent of the holiday). The location may seem a bit obscure since it's in a cute little "alley". You order at a window and can sit at one of the tables nearby to wait for your order or to eat your sandwich at. Decided to try Timmy's out based on Yelp recommendations. It was my first time so I asked for their suggestion. They recommended the Banh mi sandwich, gave me a pager and said it would be 15 minutes. It was 1230 on a Tuesday and I was the only one there! I believe all the sandwiches are $14.25. I received the sandwich in 10 minutes. I open the aluminum foil and this banh mi was on a brioche bun, BLASPHEMY! It was dripping with some sort of slaw and Chinese sausage pieces. When we go wine tasting with friends we enjoy getting sandwiches to go and taking them to eat at the wineries with a bottle of wine. Today we got the pierogi sandwich. I like the softness and flavor of the pierogi and the large amount of onions inside. It was a generous size and I probably could have just had half. My partner got the Carolina gold bbq sauce. Located on a little side alley off the Main Street, this spot does not have any "indoor" seating, but does have several patio tables surrounding the takeout window area to sit and enjoy the deliciousness. What a hidden jem! On our way back from Tahoe, we decided to check this place out. They serve some of the most unique and delicious sandwiches I've ever had. Their menu is just a colored printed paper that's a bit hard to read as it looks like they were trying to be creative. I think the creativity shines better with their sandwich combinations. We ordered the potsticker cheeseburger and the smoked oyster. The time it took to receive our order actually took quite a long time, but I guess good things come to those who wait. These sandwiches are huge and messy! So be prepared. I was only able to eat half of mine, but you know what... it actually reheated well in the oven for being such a wet sando. I very much appreciate the uniqueness of what Timmy's Brown Bag has to offer. In a world full of boring sandwich shops, Timmy's seems willing to just put whatever they feel like between two slices of bread. I ended up getting the Honey Walnut Prawn sandwich. All things considered, the sandwich itself was just ok. I wanted to try the Grilled Purple Grapes sandwich, but they were out of grapes, so I settled on the Honey Walnut Prawn. I ended up waiting 45 minutes for my sandwich to be ready, but it was a nice day out and it's in an outdoor, covered alleyway sort of setup, so that wasn't too bad. But once I got the sandwich, I wasn't particularly impressed by it. It was lukewarm, and most of the honey walnuts weren't actually very sweet, although when I got one that did, that was pretty good. The combination of flavors and textures provided by things such as the shabu shabu sauce or the prawn crackers made it an interesting experience, but I just wasn't blown away and didn't quite get the hype of it being on the top 100 Yelp list. The sandwich itself was a 3/5, but I'll throw an extra star in because I do enjoy their creative menu. I certainly wouldn't make a dedicated pit stop in Placerville just to go here again, but if I'm there for some reason, I'd consider trying another one of their intriguing menu items. read more

Messy, yummy, massive sandwiches!!!! We stopped in to Timmy's today on our route to Lake Tahoe and we were pleasantly impressed! This isn't your average sandwich shop (which you can tell right away when you look at the menu), they have creative options and big portions! We had the pickapeppa jerk chicken & Midwest meat lovers, both were 5/5. But major warning: these sandwiches are so big there's no way to eat them while driving . We tried and immediately pulled over. Both of our sandwiches were so big we needed all the napkins they provided plus a couple wet wipes . Which is why I didn't even bother to take a photo. Timmy's Brown Bag is a place that I have had bookmarked for quite some time and the opportunity to visit just never really arose. But, on a recent adventure up to the foothills, my husband and I stopped in to grab sandwiches for a later picnic lunch. The menu is funky and some of the flavor combinations seem out of this world - but trust me, you will not be disappointed in what you order. I ordered the chicken curry sandwich while my husband ordered the fried bologna. Like I said, I wasn't too sure about some of the flavor combinations or how well the sandwiches would hold up (we were putting them in our cooler and saving them for a picnic later in the day) but not only did they taste amazing, but the texture did not diminish having been put in the cooler. It's really hard to put into words how delicious the sandwiches are. You really just have to make the drive to Placerville and try them yourself. read more

- Update- So happy to see the owner actually cares enough again to comment on negative reviews. I have made mignonette before. I am aware that there are Shallots in it. This was raw red onion diced up into the sandwich. This was not Mignonette, nor were the shallots minced, like how the recipe calls for. (traditional recipe for mignonette) 1/2 cup minced shallots (about 2 1/2 ounces) 1/4 cup white vinegar 1/4 cup clear, unseasoned rice vinegar (if using seasoned rice vinegar, omit the sugar and salt) 1/8 teaspoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 teaspoon finely crushed white peppercorns (do not use pre-ground or powdered white pepper) Last time. I had a meeting in Placerville. I thought. "ok let me give them one last chance. I have always wanted to try the oyster sandwich. So I parked and reluctantly I walked up to the window. I was so happy to see another person other than Timmy's jerk son at the window (he was standing behind this guy). The guy was actually really friendly. Yay. I ordered, then walked into the neighboring shops while waiting for my food. Every single shop owner had something bad to say about Timmy's son and the current state of affairs. I was also informed by multiple shop owners that the health and safety people were there because of several complaints. So I got my sandwich. I drove back down the hill really hungry and unconcerned about what I was just told by the other business owners. I was just happy the other guy was so much better on a customer service aspect. I bite into my sandwich and I get a mouth full of ONIONS! Fing ONIONS! Where on the Fing menu are there onions on this sandwich!?!!!! (I have the sandshich straight from the menu showing EXACTLY what should go on this sandwich. I HATE onions. I would never in a million years have ordered this with them, and had I known I would have asked for them to not be on it. Who adds additional ingredients to their food!
