The chef here catered our wedding last year, one week pre-covid lockdown. The food was a huge hit. We've been wanting to try the actual restaurant ever since. At Timo's, the food was great. I personally had some of the best steak I've ever had (perfectly seasoned and cooked perfect medium rare as requested, with a great sear). The service overall was also great, especially at the start. However, WAY too many people. They packed the place. I understand it's Valentine's day weekend (we went on the 13th), but it was uncomfortable. There was next to zero covid protocol (only that the servers wore masks, most of them correctly). At one point, as more of the place filled up, we considered leaving, but we had already ordered food. My wife very much wanted to leave. Her back was to the only path between kitchen and all the diners. She ducked several times when servers passed by with filled trays. They often bumped into each other as well as other guests moving about the space. One server looked very frustrated with the crowd level and at one point almost dropped his tray as a guest backed into him. We regretted not asking for a table outside. We noticed several guests walking in and out, and also to and from the restrooms without masks. There was no social distancing whatsoever. One area of the restaurant reminded me of New York restaurants where they seat couples within inches of the next. We skipped dessert because we just really wanted out of there, asked for the check as soon as we finished our meal. The server was more rushed and less patient at that point, but he was obviously much more busy with the place packed and couldn't be more attentive. I wish we had a better experience. Just had dinner here while on vacation and truly was very impressed. The food was delicious!! We had the fois gras OMG!, scallops, mushroom truffle risotto, pizza, branzino, Chilean sea bass special and a couple other things. Everything was phenomenal. The dessert was INSANE and I had the best coconut sorbet of my life. Lastly, the experience was made even more amazing because of the staff. Wow. Above and beyond from the Check in to our waiter and everyone working there. We got cold so they moved us outside with no issue whatsoever and didn't make us feel like an imposition. Another Miami spice adventure at a restaurant I probably would not have known about otherwise! Timo is a beautifully decorated spot, tucked in a strip mall in Sunny Isles. A few stand out things about this restaurant, they have parking in the small lot in front of the restaurant, as well as what appears to be parking in the back, although that spot was full when we arrived. The free bread is definitely something to write home about, with a delicious soft version, and a super thin crunchy part, which reminds me a bit of very thin long pita chips. We started with a glass of prosecco which was one of the options for a free drink w the Miami spice menu. You could also choose from negroni or aperol spritz. We cautiously chose the rabbit with gnocchi and the grilled peaches for our appetizers, and were very pleasantly surprised! We were a little unsure about eating rabbit but it was very flavorful and the gnocchi were delicious. I would have loved a little more stracciatella with the peaches but the overall flavor of that dish was complex and satisfying. Next, it was on to the entrees of pork and fish. I really wanted to love the branzino dish, as the fish and clams were very tasty, but the sauce, peppers and chickpea portion fell a little flat on the flavor. The flavor that could not be denied was in the Porchetta dish, with a very savory sauce and loads of flavor in the pork itself. Although this dish can feel quite fatty for some, the fat gave the actually meat immense flavor! I was also a fan of the olives, potatoes and artichokes, which soaked up that awesome sauce. For dessert, the affogato was like a little show, with the coffee being poured into a small dark chocolate cup that was placed on top of the cup w ice cream. The Nutella bar was extra rich and creamy, with am excellent crunch at the bottom. I would like to give the restaurant a 3.5 for total time to receive all of our different courses. We were greeted by an extremely friendly woman at the front when we arrived and had nice interactions with different staff while we were there, but I would describe the server who assisted us as average or maybe the slightest bit above. Not sure if we would return for a full meal on a day where Miami spice was not being offered, although we did enjoy some of the dishes, not sure if it would be worth the drive or the prices. read more

This was an awesome find. It is easy to overlook in a strip mall. I had the swordfish and caponata. The swordfish was perfectly cooked and fresh. The caponata was absolutely one of the best dishes I have had. Finished with the coconut cheesecake. It is not like a heavy NY cheesecake. More like thick whip cream with grated coconut. Deeply disappointed with New Year's Eve service. This has been our go-to restaurant for years for special occasions -- such as wedding anniversaries. Always five stars. In pandemic, we did takeout for our August anniversary -- everything was great. After a rough year, I figured my Dining Companion of almost 40 years was entitled to a special meal for New Year's Eve. We ordered on Uber Eats on Wednesday for delivery at 6 pm Thursday. About mid-day Thursday, Uber Eats told us our order had been placed. At 5:30 pm, we were notified that Timo had rejected our order. We looked at other restaurants take out, but at that point it would take a couple hours to process, so we ended up raiding the refrigerator. Never had a bad meal. 15 words or more: I always forget about this place but only because it is located in a weird spot (that is, a place I never tend to think about going given a general lack of restaurants in the area). But you can't forget the food. Hands down, the food is always spot on. I have never has a bad meal. Ever. As usual, I started with the black and white pizza. All the reviews are right about this dish. It is comfort food. The pizza is paper thin, crispy, and covered in delicious cheese and of course black truffle. It is a must and sets the meal off right (I ordered it for the table so everyone could have a slice or two as a little starter). The entrees were great. I had the braised short ribs. Rich as can be, and tender. A member of my party had the steak. It was a big steak and looked like it was cooked just as ordered. My wife had the Bronzino and it too was done just right. A simple preparation that did not hide the fish but let the quality of the protein shine through. This place is a go-to place. The only reason I will not give it 5 stars is because we had a reservation that was not honored. Thus, we had to wait 35 minutes before being seated. And the bartender took 10 minutes before she even bothered to acknowledge us. But the martini was dis have a healthy poor and the service at the table was great. read more

I've lived in Miami for 6 weeks now. I had a great meal here a few weeks ago. But in true foodie-justice, I've waited to post this to give a more fair assessment in comparison to the rest of what's around. And I can honestly say that this is the best meal I've eaten in Miami. And some of the best food I've ever had. Their menu is extensive. But because we had a large party, and because I eat everything, I sampled lots of things. We had a couple of salads: Caesar and one with mixed meats/chesses. Both incredible. We had a pizza. Tasted Great. My entree was rigatoni with lamb meatballs. Seriously, it was insanely good. The pasta tasted homemade. The lamb meatballs were exquisite. And the sauce was a perfect tomato/light cream. My brother-in-law, the true carnivore got a flank steak, which was served with Chimmichurri. This was as good as any steak you could find in any churrascurria. We got two desserts. One was a chocolate bomb with maple syrup ice cream. The other was a take on bananas foster. Both really solidified the positivity of the place. Look, I'm sorry for the overly-flowery review. Went on Saturday nite with husband as I just felt like dressing up. Gorgeous day. Had reservations at 9pm. General ambiance was small but packed restaurant. Most of the patrons were older (in 60s). Open kitchen in the back and open ceiling made for a noisy restaurant. It was so beautiful and breezy outside we asked to be sat outside where there were some patio tables. Hostess was very accommodating and had a waitress set table up outside with table linens and china while we waited. We were served water and bread basket at once and our drink orders were taken. Waiter appeared and was helpful, amusing and friendly. Food went as follows: Appetizers: Grilled Quail. Very nice and smokey. Side of mushrooms. Not easy to eat with fork and knife. Next appetizers was to die for. Foie Gras on crostini. Perfectly buttery with a hint of smokiness, topped with sea salt that worked in amazing harmony, ontop of a marmalade ontop of a crispy toasted white bread. Insane. 3 came on plate. Thinking back, just give me a dozen of those with a nice cup of tea and then wheel me into a Cardiologist. I would die happy. (Will post pic of foie gras later.) Dinner, hubby had the bone in rib eye that had been char-grilled to rare (waiter said chef would be willing to do it almost black and blue but I was worried that temperature would not be sufficient to melt the fat). Rib was served topped by crispy fried vidalia onions (hubby liked them, I was indifferent) and underneath was a saute of broccoli rabe. Steak was perfectly done and one of the best we've ever tasted. I had the Maine lobster papparadelle (home made pasta and it tasted it). Good dish and lobster was well cooked. Red sauce was mild and did not overpower the lobster. Desert, I had the berry mix with sweet Marsala zabaglione and macaroon. The macaroon was rather hard so I tossed aside. The zabaglione was good though heavy (not whipped enough) but the Marsala was yummy in the sauce. Hubby had a perfect creme brulee that was cold on the bottom and the sugar layer gave a satisfying crunch when he broke it. No liquor, I had an ice tea and then later a cup of mint tea. Hubby had a soda. Total bill came to $128 + tip. Wait staff was attentive, unobtrusive and a pleasure. Will definitely be going back. Only complaint was valet was rather silly. You pull into a strip plaza, the valet literally parks it in front of the restaurant. We had parked next to another restaurant in front of the strip that had free parking. We saw most folks who had valeted walk the 6 or so feet to their car and wait for the valet to bring their car keys. read more

Awesome service! I ordered the house Rose wine and was fantastic! Roasted Mozzarella appetizer was delicious and tasty! BUT... if you're in the mood for Pizza, mmmmm NOT the right place! That was my case and I ended up very disappointed visiting Timo for Pizza! Crème Brûlée was nice but I wouldn't use a deep plate for that! A less deep flat round ceramic I think goes perfect with this dessert were you can enjoy more the awesome combination between the crunchy caramel on top and the Crème underneath! A gem of a place. The food does not disappoint. From driving by you would never notice the place as it sits in the middle of a strip center in Sunny Isles. Awesome experience! We tried it last Saturday night walking across the street from the Double Tree Hilton where we stayed over the TG holiday. Sat at the bar and had a delicious meal! Started out with sharing the crab cake. Filled with real crab and not "filler" substance. It was placed on top of a light sauce and small spread of veggies. We split two dishes: the lobster risotto and baby scallops. You get roughly 12 scallops which is very generous considering most places give you 2-3 max and they aren't made well. These are small but mighty full of flavor. They were placed around a small hill of brussel sprouts and I took a pass on those sticking with the scallops. The lobster risotto was AMAZING filled with lobster chunks and full of flavor. Cleaned both plates up. Ordered chocolate cake which came with choc melted sauce oozing out of the center. Yum. We came here for a double date & left very full & satisfied with the meal. I had the burrata stuffed ravioli with a side of mushroom risotto. The ravioli was really tasty and had a very light "feel" to it. It was kind of a caprese salad meets cheese ravioli thing, but it worked surprisingly well. The mushroom risotto was some of the best I've had in Florida. My wife had the squid ink linguini with seafood. I only had a couple people of bits, but it was pretty good. I also had a couple bits of their cauliflower appetizer which was unique and tasty as well. The setting is small, quiet, and intimate. The service was average. It is within walking distance of my house. My biggest issue here is that it is expensive. We didn't pay, but if we had, it would have been steep. I'm all for paying up for top of the line food, but this was a little high priced for me. Anyway, given the proximity to my house, I'm sure we will be back. Went there for the first time last night. Delicious restaurant! We ordered foie gras as the appetizer, and although foie gras is not my thing, the combination with the orange jelly was very tasty. For the main course we ordered a full grilled branzino. Hmmm that was delicious! Perfectly cooked, no strong sauces, fish very fresh.
