First off the food wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. When the bill came we noticed a charge of $0.50 per olive in a dirty martini. Never seen that and another in our party was charged for her drink and then also for the soda in her drink! The 3% "sustainability" charge on the whole bill was quite laughable! Went for dinner on Wednesday with extended family and had the worst service I've seen in Michigan. It took over 90 minutes to get dinner including food for two young kids and two meals off the kids menu which we specifically requested be prepared early. And when it finally came at the two hour mark the meals were cold and soggy. Making young kids wait 90+minutes to after 8pm for any food is a sure fire way to ruin a family evening and despite our repeated requests for food or an explanation we were just told that Wednesdays are busy and it's always like this. No concern or apologies for the long delay. Maybe this works for older retired couples who have two hours to wait for dinner, but not a family friendly restaurant at all. read more

This is a tough one to write but I am going to do it anyway. My wife and I took our grandson out for his 18th birthday. We thought it would be nice to go to Timothy's which we have enjoyed in the past. We arrived for our 5 pm reservation and were seated on the patio as we requested. There were only 4 people there when we were seated. We got or drinks and appetizers in a timely manner and then the wheels fell off. We sat and waited as the patio filled up and it was soon apparent that everyone had their food but us. Our waitress pretty much ghosted us and we finally asked another waitress to find ours. She came bye and said our order was the very next one as if we were getting special treatment. My wife found a manager who said he would check on it. We told the waitress that we were over it and asked for the bill. Then the manager came out with the food. He seemed shocked when we asked that he box it for take out since we were 2 hours into the meal and had soured on the idea of this being a special event. We just wanted to leave. We took our boxed food and left after paying full price for everything without anyone offering any discount or more importantly acknowledging that there was a problem. We are done. I would like to think that this was just an off night but we aren't willing to try again. read more

We are never disappointed when eating at Timothy's. We haven't been here since they started st Gordon Beach Inn. So glad they expanded. The menu is expansive. Each offering is better the the next. So hard to decide what to eat. I ended up with the Tile fish and my husband had the grouper. Both were perfectly cooked to a flakey mouthwatering state. You have to try Timothy's house vinaigrette with your salad. I wish I could take some home. So good. We had to try some dessert so we had the fruit crumble. Ours had peaches but they have other fruits depending on the season. All this great food while sitting at by a large picture window with a view of the gardens. Update/tip: Make a reservation so you don't have to encounter the rude snobby hostess and get seated with the riffraff. read more

Been going to Timothy's for years, both the old location and the new. Never once have I been disappointed. Shout out to my favorite dish, Coconut and Macadamia Nut Crusted Grouper. Since it is pretty rare to see Grouper on a menu, it is my go to...bonus that it is delicious and always cooked to perfection. Timothys bar will use fresh mulled fruit in their drinks and the deserts are always fresh and scrumptious. Love the decor, and the fish themed chihuly like glass display hanging from the ceiling. After talking this restaurant up to our out-of-town friends, we were mortified. The tone was set when they placed us (4) at an on octagonal table designed for six. Not so bad, however, the restaurant was nearly empty. The real disappointment was after each of us tasted our cocktails. Each one was terrible. In fact, describing them as terrible is actually a compliment. When we mentioned it to our server, we were then advised that the bartender was "willing to add more flavor" to each. We were also advised that it was their customary bartender. It was bewildering that the bartender did not come out, and even more bewildering that we were not offered a fresh set of drinks. Perhaps the restaurant is on hard times. We all felt the bartender thought each of us did not know what we were talking about, or were grifters. We don't know what she thought, she never came out to investigate. Unfortunately, this experience likely biased us for the rest of the meal, which was mediocre at best. The tomato soup was amazing, but that was about it. The service was adequate, and it was very clear that our server was brand new, and likely intimidated by the bartender. This has been a favorite restaurant of ours for decades, even before it was Timothy's. One of our children had their rehearsal dinners at Timothy's. These facts were politely communicated to our server in an attempt to convince him that the cocktails were beyond the pale horrendous. Every single one of the four. We are actually very stoic people who don't complain. We over-tip. We all had jobs like the people serving us that night. We are all professionals in service industries. The cucumber basil martini was crisp and refreshing and the new old fashion was a great take on a classic. The shining star is the owner, Tim. He's the textbook definition of hospitable, so gracious and so generous. The different sections of the restaurant have different feels so Timothy's is perfect for a casual drink in the bar or a romantic date night. The waitress seemed busy and overwhelmed which is understandable in the restaurant business lately, but we felt like we were a burden to her the whole time. First of all, I overpaid for our meal for 3 kids and two adults. Second, the staff couldn't have been snottier when we came to pick up our order. Nobody even talked to my husband when he tried to pick up our carry out order. If giving no stars was an option, I would have chosen that option. 6:30 reservation for 6 was initially seated at a table for 4... after that correction, we sat for 22 minutes before water was brought to the table. After another 20 minutes we were brought poorly made drinks which tasted nothing like what was ordered. Another 15 minutes passed and our order was taken... after which we waited another 65 minutes before the food was brought to the table. I haven't been to Timothy's in years but attended a birthday party there this past Sunday. I was sorely disappointed. The service was good but the food was subpar, which did not match the price point. The Sunday night special was a rack of smoked ribs. They were the toughest ribs I've ever encountered in a restaurant. I ordered a full rack to start with and the "full rack" they served was 7 bones. A full rack of ribs is 10-13 bones, not 7. It wouldn't of mattered however because they were barely eatable. Another member of our party ordered the same thing and sent hers back to the kitchen. I wish I would have done the same. I instead saved mine for a topper for my dogs kibble. They didn't seem to mind. I had two drinks and a dessert and my bill was just shy of $80. I could have spent a third of that at a local pub and got a better meal. read more
