I haven't been to Timothy's in years but attended a birthday party there this past Sunday. I was sorely disappointed. The service was good but the food was subpar, which did not match the price point. The Sunday night special was a rack of smoked ribs. They were the toughest ribs I've ever encountered in a restaurant. I ordered a full rack to start with and the "full rack" they served was 7 bones. A full rack of ribs is 10-13 bones, not 7. It wouldn't of mattered however because they were barely eatable. Another member of our party ordered the same thing and sent hers back to the kitchen. I wish I would have done the same. I instead saved mine for a topper for my dogs kibble. They didn't seem to mind. I had two drinks and a dessert and my bill was just shy of $80. I could have spent a third of that at a local pub and got a better meal. read more

I have been to Timothy's about 6 times and the last two experiences have been subpar and my most recent experience was the worst. The last two times I've been there they have lost our reservation. I was there on "lobster night" which they ran out of by 6:30. They offered us an alternative lobster dish which was absolutely awful, overcooked and rubbery. Then to add insult to injury, another table nearby was served the full lobster meal after we were told they ran out! I felt bad for our waitress. She did the best she could given the terrible circumstances. I'm done, and will never go back. There are many restaurants in SW Michigan that are much better. read more

Just had dinner there this past Sunday. Haven't tried the new Sunday menu, and it was very good!!! Lots of options on the $18.00 menu! Mardi Gras menu going on now too with many options!! We were treated terribly. We made a reservation for 6, months in advance to celebrate a small wedding. We arrived a few minutes early, but had to wait to be seated. We were seated at a table set for 5, with 3 menus but room for all 6 of us. We had to get our own drinks at the bar while waiting for the waitress. After 15 minutes she breezed by to say she would be there soon and shouted her name. When she returned she passed out 3 copies of today specials and we asked about today oyster special and the market price. She snapped- they are raw! Yes, we know how oysters are served, per the menu we are asking our server for today's special. She smirked and again insisted they are raw but agreed to go ask the kitchen about special. At this point I went to hostess and quietly asked to speak to manager. I stood for about 5 minutes while various small groups of staff huddled and talked. Our waitress came back and I stopped her to say we are asking for new server. She said- oh, I'll go apologize. I said no, please just leave us alone. Now- about 8 mins have passed and a new waiter walks past me to the table. He is friendly and really trying to take orders but we have to slow him down to first order drinks for folks who didn't go to bar for their own, and ask questions about menu. He does try hard to change the vibe and it's going better until we learn he put 3 of the dinner orders in wrong so some people got food, others had to wait for new orders, plates were not cleared and he was so embarrassed he just avoided us. Without dessert and with just 5 drinks ( others paid separately) the bill was over $400 including the 'restaurant fee'. It was all ridiculous and I'm still waiting for the manager to check on us. Lol. They could have made a special evening with such little effort but instead treated us like the diners who won't return- which we are now. read more

I really hate leaving reviews. I read about this place online and I guess I had really high expectations. I came here to cap off a romantic weekend with good, elevated food. It would be 0 stars , but the decor and the restaurant is overall impressive. Everything else is not. The services was mild, unfriendly and felt pushed to leave very quickly. I can't even give you our servers name because she didn't provide one and only wanted to upsell us on expensive additions. The apps were unremarkable. I had the ribeye, which was suppose to be herb crusted with pomme frites. The steak was cold and there was no herb crust let alone any seasoning. The frites are steak fries, drizzled with fake truffle oil and parmesan shreds. The rest of the dinner was awful. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that will save your wallet and leave you less disappointed. read more

Food service was great but the last two times we were there food was not very good. We took family there since we had been before and food had been very good but not here in the last year. We ordered the filet with mashed potatoes and food was lukewarm with asparagus being cold. Absolutely incredible. I came here with my whole family for a birthday dinner and we drove in from Illinois just to come here. Half the table ordered the ribeye and half the table ordered the filet mignon. There were 8 of us. The service was absolutely perfect. We also had the roasted garlic appetizer, cheesecake appetizer, and the shrimp. My steak was impeccably cooked. The ambiance was fantastic, we also ordered two or 3 desserts. Timothy himself came out to serve us our food. It was a fantastic experience and I might even request it for my birthday dinner next year. That's saying a LOT considering I live in the City of Chicago, which is like the restaurant MECCA right now. Thanks, Timothy's!!! read more

I had only heard good things about this place and booked it for an anniversary dinner trip. We waited 30 mins after being seated without a server coming to our table. My husband even went to ask the hostess to send someone over. After another 10 mins we just left. It smelled good and food looked good going by but that's unacceptable to not even be approached or a simple "I'll be right with you" this was a Sunday night and the restaurant wasn't packed. I dont know what happened if servers just didn't know who's table we were but other people were sat and served while we tried to flag someone down. Blown away. Very gluten free friendly, as many dishes are marked with the gluten free option available. Fresh fruits and veggies of the season are available as purees for their specialty cocktails made with vodka or gin. I had a fresh blueberry puree martini, served in a short glass. Extreme blueberry with just a hint of vodka flavor - the perfect pre-dinner cocktail. Our server was extremely kind and professional. He was very informed about our food and was enthusiastic about the offerings both on the menu and the specials of the day. We were eyeballing the swordfish on the menu, and our server was very nice to inform us that the swordfish was the only dish unavailable due to Timothy not approving of the quality of the swordfish. I like Timothy already for not wanting to serve something he believes is not to his standards for his diners. Our appetizers: Flash fried roasted beets served with sriracha mayonnaise. Cut thick beets, and they almost melt in your mouth. They marinade them for hours (so we were told). Highly recommend. Timothy's Calamari: Marinated and lightly fried, served with a roasted shallot curry mayonnaise. We ordered it gluten free - they had a bit of sweetness to the very light breading, which I suspect was coconut. The calamari was delicious, very fresh - both the rings and the baby squids. If you like coconut shrimp, you'll love this calamari. Choice of soup or salad, we both went with the salad and chose the lemon basil dressing. WOW, the dressing really made the fresh greens pop. A perfect pre-dinner salad, fresh high quality non-wilted greens, no iceberg lettuce in sight, and served at a cool temperature (not ice cold, not room temp.) Main events: Horseradish-crusted Michigan Whitefish: With caramelized onion, balsamic jus, and lemon-basil emulsion. I just had a tiny bite to try (since it was not mine :-) ), and the fish just melted in your mouth and was very fresh - no fishy taste what so ever! Jumbo Shrimp and Sea Scallops Carbonara Verde: Crisp bacon, spring peas, asparagus, spinach, and zucchini, tossed with spaghetti in a rich egg and parmesan cream. Topped with a fried egg (over easy). WOW. Shrimp (3) were cleaned, big and meaty and separated from the tail easily. The scallops (2) were big, very soft and fresh - no chewiness at all. I broke the egg into the pasta and it was incredibly rich and bursting with flavor. I'm usually not a pasta eater, but this was just incredible. I am so glad we found this place. It was a random pick while trying to decide where to go eat somewhere in that Michigan area :-) We made a phone reservation on a Saturday night for 2 with a 3 hour notice with no issues. They do recommend a reservation! We didn't have room for dessert afterwards, so we hope to go back one day and try desert along with the other amazing dishes they have on their menu. read more

We were looking forward to experiencing Timothy's at their new (to us) location this summer. We arrived on a summer Saturday evening, not realizing we should have made a reservation. Lesson learned! The hostess told us she didn't have anything until 9:30. (We later looked online and were able to book at table for 7:45, so?) Nevertheless, we settled in outside since it was a lovely evening, after the outdoor bartender asked us if we "needed a menu". (Isn't that just customary when someone walks up to your bar?) Anyway, fast forward 90 minutes...we still didn't have the waters we asked for upon arrival and our pizzas NEVER ARRIVED. Evidently they "lost our ticket". Advice to future diners: stay on top of your order! They did comp us one round of drinks but they should have given us a gift card for a future visit since we left there at 8:20 p.m. starving! Addendum: We found out this morning that the backyard / pizza area has only been open for ~10 days. So we will cut them some slack, and likely try again in the future. Seems that until this is a well-oiled machine, management should overstaff what could be very popular casual dinner destination. (One bartender and one server for the entire patio is not enough.) read more

Wow... I've never been rushed out of a restaurant so fast. We walked in at 6:30, half of the tables were empty and we were quoted "an hour wait". The rest of the tables were "reserved" but we could wait at the empty bar for "a few minutes to see if something opens up". We came here for a rehearsal dinner and everyone in the wedding party had nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience. We were seated in the back part of the restaurant with a door leading out to the pizza patio (I wish we had spent more time exploring the outside but there was a lot going on). The restaurant itself is very pretty and comfortable looking. I was drinking Kentucky Mules the entire night and they were VERY good. Not to make myself sound like a total alcoholic but I went through a good number of mules and they were all super consistently good. For the rehearsal they had a filet mignon special which was amazing. A gorgonzola cheese sauce melted on top, crunchy onions, really good potatoes. We had some calamari, mini crab cakes, and roasted brussel sprouts and everyone at the table loved it. We would definitely come back just for a regular meal. While the good was above average, the service was such that we are never going back there. I'll start with the food. We began the meal with an imaginative fried green tomatoes appetizer. It was fresh and flavorful. I had their clam chowder next, which was excellent. Our fish entrees were both thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. However, the servers all seemed harried, which was curious because there were a lot of them. Maybe that's what caused our issue. To start things off, our waitress asked if we wanted drinks. My dining companion ordered a glass of wine and I preferred a cocktail. About 20 minutes went by and - no drinks. I politely asked about our drinks and she curtly replied that she just had to pick them up from the bar. As we found later, that was not a truthful statement. About ten minutes later her drink came but kind didn't. I later asked a manager if he might check on my drink. He replied he'd take care of to right away and indicated I wouldn't be charged as a courtesy. Ok great. The drink came and then the server sarcastically asked how my drink was. Thanks it's great. We finished our meal and the bill came - -$12 for the drink. Very disappointing but fine. I paid but the whole thing just made us wish we had gone somewhere else. Visited Timothy's on Saturday night. 7:00 reservation for 6 people, got seated quickly. That's when the wheels came off. First someone told us the waitress was very busy and she would be with us shortly. Then the waitress told us she was very busy and she would get to us shortly. After 40 min, we finally ordered drinks. Then it took another 15 minutes to get these. Finally we ordered, a couple of minor requests were made, but nothing major. Food was delivered by someone else and none the requests were made. Because we were so hungry we just started eating. The waitress never came over to check to see if we were ok. Then it took another 15 minutes to get the check. Then of course it was the wrong check, it belonged to another table. When we finally got the right check, then the waitress took the time to tell her how busy she was.... its was just a joke. I have never paid so much for a dinner and had such poor service The food was actually good, but couldn't overcome the service issues. Very disappointed. read more
