This establishment is really pricey for Cantonese food. Our bill was almost $100. We started with the west lake beef soup, which I actually enjoyed. The broth was flavorful and the beef was really tender. I ordered the mango and sago dessert drink. It was great as well and not overwhelmingly sweet. The mapo tofu was really good. I like that it consisted of preserved vegetables. Although, I feel that there should not be an extra charge just to add ground pork. The dry beef chow fun was edible. It was not bad; however, it was not the best either. I did not enjoy the salt and pepper pork as it was not battered. It lacked the salt and pepper flavoring. Little Cafe is my new favorite HK style cafe tucked away in the quiet Pocket neighborhood. There are not many HK cafes in Sacramento, so I'm very happy to have found this gem. The owner is super sweet and speaks Cantonese, so I am able to practice my conversational Canto when I go. She is very attentive and helpful, and always makes sure the food is to our liking and that our waters stay full. Little Cafe is pretty small with limited seating, but the few times that I've been, I've never had an issue finding a seat right away. They offer breakfast combos similar to what you'd find at a cafe in HK that serves breakfast. The first time I went, I chose the preserved vegetable and pork ho fun noodle soup. The pork had a delicious wok hay flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. There was a good amount of preserved veggies and the soup was clear and piping hot. It was a very comforting meal and the portion size was excellent. I got iced milk tea with my meal and while it wasn't as strong as I've had at other establishments, it was still pretty good. The second time I came to Little Cafe, I brought my husband with me. I noticed that there was a price increase in some of the menu items, but with the current economy, that was to be expected. Everything was still very reasonably priced. As far as our meal selections, my husband chose the beef stew wonton noodle soup while I went with another HK classic, the curry fish ball noodle soup. We both chose iced lemon tea for our drink. We also went with Singapore noodles for a shared entree. I was not expecting egg noodles for my curry fish ball noodle soup but it wasn't a big deal. I think that I will just ask for ho fun next time. My husband really enjoyed his beef stew wonton noodle soup and I got to try a bite of his beef. It was quite tender indeed. Both of our broths were simple yet comforting. The Singapore noodles were delicious and again had the signature wok hay flavor. I could hear the sizzle of the oil in the wok while waiting for our food, so I knew it was going to be good. We were not able to finish our food, so we had a good amount of leftovers for the next day. We also took the lemon teas to go and it lasted us for the majority of the afternoon. I have been eyeing the beef chow fun after seeing the photos other Yelpers have posted and would love to try it next time, given their wok-fried food has so much flavor. I ordered the tofu beef rice as takeout. The staff can speak Cantonese. The restaurant wasn't busy at the time, and they prepared the food very quickly, which was convenient. The tofu was silky and smooth, which I really enjoyed. The beef slices, however, were a bit on the chewy side. The tofu was unfortunately not crispy by the time I received it, but I'm not marking points off for it as that could be a delivery issue out of their control. Seeing how others have had positive experiences with other items I may give it another try, but likely won't order the salt and pepper tofu again. I had the House Pan Fried Noodle ($12.95 + $1.50 add'l for pan-fried) and hubby chose the Beef Chow Fun (Dry) $10.95. Friends ordered each the Brisket Pan Fried Hong Kong-style Noodle... must be good! The owners gave us two complimentary Thai Tea and Thai Iced Green Tea drinks. I had a sampling of the Hong Kong- Style French Toast... mmm! yummy! We don't come to this part of Sac often but I'm glad we did and we'd love to come back and dine here if we're in the area again. I've been here twice now and it's been great both times. I love their beef noodle soup! The beef is so savory and tender! There are bits of fattier chunks and gristle along with the cubes of meat, but it's been cooked down so well that I love it all. The service is fantastic. They are so kind and welcoming. The interior of the restaurant is small with a very mom n pop vibe and the tv is usually on some series displaying Chinese cuisine. Great place to have a nice, comforting meal. read more

Stopped by for dinner on our way home. It's was a super hot day and this place was hot and humid when we were there. The food was mid the drinks were mid. Service was ok. The beef chow fun had this gigantic piece of beef that was somewhat not fully cooked and we don't eat not fully cooked beef if it's not a good piece of steak. The whole dish was lack flavoring. Bland with just soy cause for color. The cucumber salad was so bad we tried a pieces each and left the whole thing like it is. All we tasted was vinegar. It was not pleasing at all. The braised beef over rice was probably the only good thing. We also ordered boba drinks and Hong Kong milk teas. Didn't pictured, the drinks were full and left on table just as was served. Unfortunately I'm sick with a cold and feeling pretty bad. I just wanted some simple soup and something else to help me warm up and feel a little better. I remembered Little Cafe had HK inspired dishes so I knew they'd have some soup I could order. I placed my order online and got the corn egg drop soup (the preserved veggie soup also looked really good but figured I shouldn't eat pork right now) and then I got the salt and pepper tofu. I'm genuinely happy to have this place in my neighborhood and I hope they stick around. The woman working is really kind and the food tastes delicious. The soup really hit the spot and the tofu was cut into big pieces and perfectly fried without being oily or heavy. Beef chow fun had very little meat, like super skimpy amount and VERY chewy...you know it has been coated in a ton of baking soda. The noodles tasted ok, not great. Fun noodles had a slight chew but also very firm, not fresh. At least the noodles were not mushy. The dish definitely need way more wok hay and more seasoning. Nice little Chinese restaurant in pocket area. They are located in the same plaza as Bel Air. My date and I came here for dinner 30 minutes before they were closing. The staff was very nice to serve us and told us we didn't have to rush and take our time. Beef pan fried noodles: noodles were fried perfectly. The sauce was a bit salty but overall flavorful. Yangzhou fried rice: my first time ever having this kind of fried rice. It was kinda bland. Stir fry chicken ginger & onions: very interesting dish! A bit salty but it was good. Second time dining here during their Soft Opening. Yes, they are slow and the menu is different, but this is a Hong Kong Style Cafe in the heart of the Pocket Area. My plate contained a seasoned chicken thigh that was deep fried to create a slightly crispy outside texture that was tender and juicy inside. Perfectly cooked if you ask me. Two eggs scrambled, two pieces of toast and a bowl of soup. The soup was chicken broth based with slices of deli ham and macaroni elbow looking noodles. A great deal for a meal that tasted like mom would make at home. Lots of love. CORN CRAB MEAT EGG DROP SOUP Flavorful soup with wonderful ribbons of egg, corn, imitation crab and green onions. The green onions make this dish and you can taste the white pepper in the soup as well. Very good and hit the spot tonight on this cold evening. HOUSE FRIED RICE There is a lot going on inside this rice. It had beef, shrimp, chicken, bbq pork, scrambled egg, bean sprouts, corn, lettuce and the frozen medley of veggies (peas, carrots, green beans and lima beans) Stirfried perfectly and flavorful with a home cooked meal feel to it. HOUSE FRIED NOODLES Kind of like the Fried Rice, with lots going on. It had thin noodles, onions, bean sprouts, chicken, bbq pork, shrimp, beef and green onions. January 2024 SOFT OPENING For the soft opening, they are still working on getting their credit card payment system up and running so only VENMO and CASH. Also with all "Over Rice" dishes, you get a free soup! We got to choose from Corn Egg Drop Soup and Mushroom and Corn Cream Soup. They offered table service and we were the second party seated and ordered: Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings *House Fried Rice no onions Shrimp Fried Noodle no veggies Asparagus Beef Over Rice Mongolian Beef Over Rice Note: Fried Pork Cutlet Rice was unavailable, but menus were already printed. *The House Fried Rice no onions, never came. It didn't get on the order ticket for some reason although the order was repeated. Luckily I ate a few wings and some soup. They offered to put in the order, but everyone else was done with their food and I had to get back to work. They are getting a lot of people to try them out, so the four out of five dishes took longer than we expected to come out. We were patient though. They had a lot of dishes I had never heard of, and the woman running the restaurant was very patient and informative. She explained each dish one by one that i had a question of. She also gave me a huge glass of water while I waited for my to go order. So we could sample a variety of tastes, I ordered the chicken curry over rice, brisket over rice, spaghetti with chicken and pepper sauce, and beef chow fun. My wife loved the brisket (I thought the pieces were good, but a little too fatty), and also her chow fun. I devoured the spaghetti dish, and thought their curry was....good. Nothing wrong with it, but it was a standard flavor, probably wouldn't repeat order. Our main complaint....the dishes had very little meat compared to starch. And I don't mean in the standard proportion. The spaghetti dish, while quite flavorful, had scant amount of chicken compared to the abundance of noodles. The same can be said for the curry and brisket dishes. Very carb heavy, not so much meat (or even veggie) heavy. She was very nice, the flavors are good, and I wish this restaurant the very best, but I would encourage them to be a bit more generous with the meat portions. I was excited to hear of a new Chinese restaurant opening in Pocket! My husband and I ordered a few dishes online for takeout to try Little Cafe. The online ordering was pretty straightforward - we got the pan fried minced pork green beans, soy sauce chow mein, and salt & pepper tofu. The pick up / wait time was about 15 minutes, which was very reasonable. Upon unboxing our order, the food looked inviting - the portions were great and everything smelled delicious. We started with the tofu, which understandably got soggy since it was in a closed container. The flavor was lackluster; tofu on its own is fairly bland, but the salt and pepper seasoning wasn't really there. Even with the bits of garlic, jalapeño, and onion, this dish just didn't hit the flavor notes and we wouldn't order this again. We tried the chow mein next and was surprised at how packed in this dish was! There seemed to be a never ending supply of noodles, which was a great value. The flavor was solid; the dish itself is simple as described and I wish there was more "wok hay" to really make this dish shine, but I enjoyed it overall. The onions were definitely on the raw side, which I personally don't mind, but just fair warning. Lastly, the green beans. They seemed a bit overcooked and squishy but the flavor again was solid. The pork in the green bean dish was really tasty, but not minced, as the name of the dish would have you expect. Overall, I think the pricing and quality is fair. I came here with my mom and grandmother for some Chinese food on Easter Sunday. A lot of people go to restaurants for breakfast on Easter so I wanted to go to a place that didn't have a lot of people showing up. This restaurant has been open for 3 months now and we came in right when they opened to get brunch. We met the owner, who was very nice to give us some info on how they make their food. I forgot to take pics before my family and I started eating our food. The food is very good and is 10/10. My favorite dish was the beef chow fun with gravy. My mom wanted the Singapore style rice noodle and is my least favorite since I don't really like spicier types of foods. In my opinion, the green bean dish was very good but it was a little too salty. The restaurant opens at 10 am. Anyone from Sacramento needs to try this place which is near the bel air on Rush River in the pocket Greenhaven area if you are looking for Chinese food that is great in portions. read more

Popped in for a quick lunch. Small neighborhood place with about 6 tables. Kinda dine and dash. Food was Ok. I wanted more explanation on some of the menu items but the waitress wasn't understanding. Couldn't explain the difference between dishes. We ordered the house chow mein and was asked what protein would we like? Chicken, Bbq Pork etc... I ask if we had bbq pork on our house chow mein, how is that different from regular bbq pork chow mein. Her answer was it the house chow mein. I guess we need to understand the menu more.
