Poor quality food. But what do you expect from a chain? I noticed they charged me a 5% "surcharge" When I asked the worker what it was for he told me "inflation" I asked him did he get a raise with the surcharge and he said no, we're a chain so we're stuck at $16. So, tinleaf continues to lookout for #1. Executives and owners while not providing livable wages. Building their wealth exploiting workers. I will not ever return. $12 for a vegetarian sandwich is highway robbery. read more

I had the salmon salad with lemon caper dressing. The dressing is delicious. The salad is fabulous. The salmon was extra oily. I'm not sure if they added more oil when they prepared it. But that is why I gave it for stars. The salad itself is excellent with the dressing. I would order this again, but I would ask that they not put any additional oil on the salmon. read more

Had a lunch study/work session here last week with my 3 teens. One of the fam has a very severe wheat allergy. We were very happy to find there was a ton more to choose from than just salad and lettuce wrap burgers! We sat outside on a warm sunny day. Very peaceful and quiet enough to have an hour long teleconference while the kids ate and studied for exams. The food for all was fresh, salads green, and meat cooked as we asked. For a chain, order-at-counter type joint, super yum and good experience. Young kid at the register was super polite and helpful. We'll be back! read more

Fist time here in the 10 years I've been in La Costa and had a great experience. The ambiance was def nice for an "order at the counter and food gets delivered" place. I like the pillows they have in the booths. The servers/cashiers were very friendly and helpful in their suggestions. I ordered the salmon sandwich on ciabatta with the Belgian fries (which I was told were good and yes they are!) The salmon filet itself wasn't anything to write home about but the sandwich in general was really good. Think I would have preferred the crispy chicken, but I'll find out on another day. The ranch I dipped the fries in was probably the best ranch Ive had at a restaurant. It was relatively slow, but a little small talk with the cashier, grab some napkins, sit down, and like 30 secs later food was in front of me. Prices are a little high but Id say on par with other "nicer" healthy-comfort/sandwich shops like Mendocino Farms for example. read more

I could eat that salad and the turkey pot pie daily, but all dishes we've ordered to date were fantastic. I've eaten in the restaurant once and the staff were helpful and friendly, though it's a spot where you order at the counter versus getting table service, which I prefer. I have to say that consistency is huge. Everyone can have at least one amazing experience at a place. But to have great food, great service again and again is exceptional. Tinleaf Fresh Grocery Store. I left feeling like I had just eaten at Von's. The food is good, tastes fresh (no false advertisement there), but it really just feels like something you would buy at Von's and eat in the parking lot. The simple salad, for example, was a handful of spinach with dried cranberries sprinkled on top, and a sealed container of mustard. The soup was in a large paper container which tasted like it came out of the Von's canister (which is good, I love Von's soup). The sandwich was well put together. Now, if these things cost maybe $6 for that big soup, and like $2 for that thrown-at-me salad, I would be a lot more ok with this place. But they can't justify the prices they charge. It's ok. Everything my BF and I tried here was really good. We did order it as takeout earlier in the pandemic when you couldn't dine in, and it was a good takeout meal. Our only complaint was they were pretty slow when it came to ordering and waiting to leave with the food, but that could have been due to a smaller staff. Well, I'm giving them 3 stars without even trying the food because they need a new management style. We came here by chance after church and decided to order lunch for our family. They had a lot of options but didn't offer a turkey sandwich for children so we asked if they would be able to accommodate the ask, especially since we were ordering an $80 lunch for "a family of six". She sharply said "no" and that "we don't even have a sku for that." Way to make us feel welcome and not pay attention to our customer experience. For their management, we would have been back but that type of dismissal and response to a simple ask will keep us from coming back. Casual fine dining in Carlsbad. Tin Leaf reminded me of places like Urban Plates, Tender Greens, Mendocino Farms. Dishes are typically in the $12-$15 range. I would say this is on the pricier end for lunch. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I liked all the healthy options at Tin Leaf. There was a wide variety of salads and I ended up ordering the Tri Tip Steak Salad. Unlike other casual fine dining around San Diego, I didn't feel that Tin Leaf had as much of a wow factor. My Tri Tip was well done and the toppings were common items you would find in a typical refrigerator. Overall, I enjoyed my salad and had a positive experience at Tin Leaf. The food was good. My husband really liked his sandwich and my salad was good but definitely needed seasoning. The salmon was cooked perfectly but it needed flavor. The fries to share were really tasty too. I especially really liked all of the different sauces they offer because I'm a sucker for condiments. My son got the kids mac and cheese and that was delicious! We came home with a ton of food though. I'd rather have less food and a lower bill because it is pricey for lunch for sure. 4.5 stars This is similar to Tender Greens. Love the food quality. I ordered the tenderloin with couscous and green beans. The tenderloin comes with this mustard sauce underneath the meat which made it absolutely delicious. My bf got the tri tip with mash potatoes and fried onions. We also ordered a small fries. For the sauce, we choose the garlic sauce. YUM! Highly recommend it. I also like how they have their own blend of organic soda. It tastes very similar to regular soda but healthier. read more

Stopped by for a quick early dinner. I had the Tri tip salad which was just okay. The Tri tip was dry and looked like it's been sitting in the kitchen for hours just waiting to be served. My salad was supposed to be a mix of spinach and arugula but it was probably only a quarter arugula which was a disappointment. However my husband really enjoyed his thanksgiving sandwich as the turkey was moist and a good sized serving. The idea is like Panera bread with casual seating - order upfront, grab a number placard, find a seat, food will be brought to your table. It's a good spot for a quick lunch or dinner. The guy at the cashier was friendly and told me about the specials and some features items on the menu. I have to say I was overwhelmed by the menu and it didn't look simple so I had a hard time reading everything on the board behind the cashier. Without much thinking I just went with the chicken pot pie. It tasted pretty good but nothing fantastic. The prices were reasonable but weren't cheap. We had dinner here tonight with our seven year old grandson. It's nice and casual and you go to the counter and order your meal. Frankie really loved his macaroni and cheese and French fries. We ordered the Tri Tip plates which were delicious. The meat was cooked just perfectly. You pick your own sides from many different options. We tried the macaroni and cheese and cole slaw and the French fries. This seems to be a popular place but the wait for your food isn't long. I read the reviews and decided on the tri-tip entree with Mac n cheese and brussel sprouts. It was pretty empty when I went in, there was no one in line and no one came after me. The man who took my order was very nice and answered my questions confidently. It is a bit pricey for what you get. I was then given a number to wait for my to go food. It took about 10 minutes. Upon getting home it was still warm (I live close) so I sat down to eat. The tri-tip was very moist and very delicious as was the sauce that went with it. The mac and cheese was a little bland but still tasted decent. They lost me at the brussel sprouts though, although they looked cooked even charred a little, they were pretty raw and super crunchy. I didn't end up eating them. I think next time I'll try different sides or I'll get the tri-tip salad instead. read more
