Day trip to Pipe creek to check out all the rave of Tiny Schnitzel House which we have driven by the giant 'FOOD' letters many times and we were rewarded with a German platter delicious enough to Prost. Chicken and Pork schnitzel was devoured served with brown gravy on the side. Bratwursts galore. The best thing we had was the sausage curry!!!! Must order! Wish they had spatzle, but their cucumber salad and homemade sauerkraut was good.. Had Apple & Cherry strudel. We brought our dogs, but it isn't a great place for animals as the land over the bridge was full of sticker burrs and it's close to the busy road. Overall, Prost to a Hill Country find. Stopped in on our way to Fredricksburg and it was well worth the detour! We got the German Oak Platter since there was no way we could have decided what to get. Let me tell you: everything was amazing!! We arrived a bit before they actually opened and we got to see them bringing in fresh ingredients so we knew it was going to be good. Both the husband and wife are super nice and made us feel like family! The outside is quaint and rustic, it fits right in to the area! The Platter comes with you choice of 5 meats, 4 sides, a pretzel and a strudel of your choosing. We got the chicken schnitzel, the pork schnitzel, the currywurst, the beef brat and the country brat. For sides we chose the cucumber salad, red cabbage, potato salad and cheese spatzel. For dessert we opted for the apple strudel. Her favorite was the currywusrt (her first time have it) and mine was the country brat, but everything was simply delicious and did I mention fresh? The pretzel and the strudel are made fresh in house, as is the schnitzel. I love this place!!! Schnitzel is just perfect!! Made to order, so fresh and tasty. The service is great and so friendly. There is a cute and rustic addition to eat in there with a wood burning stove. It was so cozy today on a cloudy day! Ordered the schnitzel sandwich with cheesy spatzle... the gravy is to die for! The decor is quirky and fun. It's a trailer that has been converted into a take out stop for some amazing German food. There is a small indoor seating space. They have a very extensive menu with lots of options. Many authentic dishes that stay true to their original flavors. The pretzels are amazing. All things on the menu are homemade. Round 2!!! Been almost 2 months and been dreaming of this place the whole time!! Took my daughter this time so we got some different food today! But.. as usual.. 10/10!! Today we got the pleasure of meeting the chef .. the husband. He's just as awesome as his wife! Sadly we went late and they only had a SMALL pretzel left but that was my fault for not going earlier. I stuck to the schnitzel plate with the potato salad. My daughter got the schnitzel wrap. My son got the homemade braut plate. Plussss.. we had to get the cherry strudel. It was hot as hell up there today so the chef kindly told us we could sit in our car with AC and he would bring our order to us. Less than 15 minutes later he brought out our bags of amazing food!! I have wanted to go here for a while and since I'm moving back to Wisconsin tomorrow, tonight was my last chance. I had the delicious bratwurst with sauerkraut and cucumber salad and my hubby had the pork schnitzel with German potato salad and spatzle. We also shared a pretzel and cherry strudel for dessert. Everything was super yummy and the owners were very attentive and appreciative of our visit. The only negative was I left my phone in the car and I didn't get any pictures. We've heard so much about Tiny Schnitzel Haus that we had to visit. My husband grew up in Germany and misses authentic German food. We're just down the road from Pipe Creek so checking this gem was a no-brainer. Oh my! We loved it. There were only two of us but we ordered the huge German Oak platter to get a chance to try a bit of everything. It was delicious. From the different wurst options to the fantastic schnitzel with jaeger sauce on the side. Don't miss the yummy sides. We had German potato salad, cucumber salad, and had an order of kraut balls as well. That huge pretzel was also delectable. We want Black Forest cake too but had to get it to go. We were stuffed. The family that owns and operates this great little venue are warm and welcoming. They took the time to tell us about the place and their plans for the future. We arrived early but the owner was super friendly. Her husband is originally from Germany so most of the recipes are from his Grandmother. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly! I saw that this restaurant had opened up in Pipe Creek and wanted to try it. Since my camper is stored two miles away from it, I decided that I would wait until I needed to go to the storage lot for some reason. One Saturday, I needed to drop some things off and pick some things up, so I invited my son to ride along and told him we would eat German food after that. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond the restaurant's control, they had to shut down that day, and we ended up driving to San Antonio to eat somewhere else. Today, I had to go to Pipe Creek to winterize my camper and decided to stop in to the Tiny Schnitzel Haus for lunch. When I arrived, I was the only person there. I ordered my meal and immediately heard the sound of pork being pounded coming from the kitchen. They make everything fresh to order like that. I took a seat in the little dining room and waited for my food. It was a short wait. My meal choice was pork schnitzel, spaetzle, and potato salad. They had some mushroom gravy, so I actually had JagerSchnitzel. It came with a tiny little device to squeeze fresh lemon juice on it. I had never seen one of those. Anyway, I took a bite of everything to try it out. The potato salad was really good. It had nice seasonings and didn't rely on an over-sweetened vinegar base like so many places use. The spaetzle was nearly identical to the kind my mother's friend made. It was nicely seasoned and soft. I don't care for the dry chewy stuff. The schnitzel was pounded perfectly thin. The breading was very light and crispy and did not overpower the pork. The mushroom gravy was perfect. The chef knows exactly what to do to get the full flavor of the mushrooms. It was on the thinner side, which is a plus. I wish I had tried some of the baked goods, but I wasn't really hungry when I started. I brought about half of my meal home and had it for supper. It was just as delicious the second time around. The only way I can describe this venue is "cute". They use a trailer for the kitchen, but have built around it in a really interesting way. The dining room used to be a deck. When they closed it in, they kept some windows. I was entertained by a woodpecker who seemed to be begging to join me. The owners are very nice people. The wife, who took my order and served it to me, chatted with me for a few minutes. I felt like I was sitting in some friend's living room chatting. I can't wait to come back with both my son and my wife. She won't eat a lot of ethnic foods, but she does like bratwurst. They have several different kinds. Plus, I can't imagine her leaving without ordering one of their homemade pretzels! One last thing... For those of you who think it is too far to drive to Pipe Creek- trust me. It is not. It took me thirty minutes from my house on Mainland off of Bandera. It would have taken me just as long to go to any restaurant on the I-10 corridor. read more

The food here is AMAZING! If you're looking for authentic, fresh, made from scratch German food, this is the place. All the fancy German restaurants in Fredricksburg can't touch this place. My favorite is the schnitzel, warm potato salad, cucumber salad, sauerkraut, cheesy spatzle, fresh pretzel and cherry strudel. The husband (from Germany) and wife team and wonderful. We found this place by complete accident while driving around and getting lost. My wife saw the Bavarian and German flags on the street, so we made a u turn and stopped in. Its a very cute place with outdoor seating. They offer schnitzel and German sausages. The two guys working there were very friendly. Food was prepared to order and we even heard them smashing the schnitzel. Food came out real quick and it was spot on. Everything tasted like real authentic homemade German food. Meh, stopped here while visiting. Ordered three pork jagerschnitzel lunches. The breading was greasy and the pork was tough. As for the sides the red cabbage was ok, the potato salad was served cold not hot like traditional the sauerkraut was ok and fries were good.
