Food is just okay, not my favorite Thai. I'm giving 3 stars coz the service was good, otherwise I would give 2 stars...

A hidden Koreatown gem for sure. I've been waiting to try Tip's House for quite sometime now but I usually miss their open time (they close at 7p) or I don't have cash on hand. When I finally got to try it, man, it was way worth the wait. I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a chicken satay lunch, yellow curry w/ chicken, fried fish lunch, and steak salad. Everything was amazing, but the yellow curry was definitely the star of the show. From flavor to texture to spice, everything was made incredibly. Even their fried rice, though simple, was amazing and packed with flavor. It was empty when I went (midday Saturday), so I got to chat with the server. She was really sweet and kind, everyone there seemed to be smiling too. I would definitely recommend this place if you haven't tried it yet. You won't be disappointed. read more

I think Tip's House is a sweet, unassuming little thai restaurant. It's the kind of place you would walk right by and not know it was a restaurant. That said, I love the waitress who basically runs the whole restaurant and seems to know a fact or two about every single customer. The lunch specials are pretty great (around $7 for rice, salad, egg roll and sate/bbq chicken/whatever). I've had the pad see ew with tofu and it was absolutely delicious and there was definitely enough to take home and have as another meal. The one order I had a problem with was their yellow chicken curry- only because i asked for mild spicy and when I tried it it was incredibly spicy. Either the order got mixed up or their mild is pretty spicy. Then again, most people who like thai food love really spicy so it shouldn't be a problem It is annoying that they only take cash. read more

I have ordered the pad Thai on both occasions and it's been exquisite on both occasions. Today I ordered the beef with mint leaves...extra spicy and it's extra good. Super casual eatery. Eats clean and it has a very attentive staff. Will definitely be coming back time and time again. read more

The food and service were fantastic but the decor looks like a dated donut shop with Thailand posters lining the walls of this brightly lit spot. Best thai in town and family owned! Never had anything bad and have been going here for years. Take out is fantastic. Mint chili dish (any protein), angel wings, egg rolls, any of of the curry dishes, satay (yes, chicken or beef on a stick with yuMmy dip & pickled cucumbers), and pretty much everything else. The food is decent but the best part about this place is the price, it's so cheap! Its $7 to $10 for pretty much everything which is pretty rare these days. They're closed on Sundays and are only open until 7pm which is a bummer. Hard to park to pick up your food too. The pictures make this place look kind of dirty but it is surprisingly clean inside. We ordered the pad Thai and my husband ordered yellow chicken curry my son the meatball soup. All were delicious we even got a order of the sweet and sour chicken. The waitress was very nice and helpful . She even suggested different chilies for the food selection we had. Parking was easy to find but we always have good luck with that. I'm a very picky eater and I want my server to treat me like my money is at value. Overall this place is great and I would definitely will be coming back. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE: My mother and I had dinner around 6:30pm. We were the only customers there and experienced horrible customer service by the only waitress there. If I could give zero stars I would! First, when we were ordering I asked the waitress for her suggestion between two different dishes since it was our first time there. She rudely said "I don't know. They're completely different. I don't know." So I said, okay what do you recommend. Again, she rudely responded, "I don't know, sorry." She wasn't any help so I just ordered. She then told us, "we don't bring extra plates for sharing." I say okay, either way we weren't planning to share since we each ordered a dish. In addition, I ordered a Thai ice tea for myself and my mother ordered water. While waiting my mom asked if she can try a little bit of my thai ice tea and because I was sick I didn't want her to drink out of my glass so I got up and asked if I can have a glass for my mom. She rudely said "we don't give extra glasses." I explained to her I was sick and didn't want my mom to drink out of my glass. She laughed and said "you can buy another Thai ice tea it's only $1.50." I thought to myself, are you fuckin kidding me!?? Money isn't a problem. I simply don't feel the need to buy another drink when my mother just wants to taste it. So I kept my composure and said that's ridiculous and sat down. Once our food arrived, I asked for extra lime and she said, "If you want extra lime that will be 25 cents." I told her that wasn't a problem. Then, she brought me the tiniest piece of lime. She never check to see if we're doing fine or needed anything. It was the worst experience we've ever had at a restaurant. It was like they are desperate for very penny they can get. Once we were done eating I paid and left. Once outside I took a picture of the restaurant sign and I'm sure she figured I was going to review them. Thus, her attitude completely changed. She said parking is horrible huh? Wanted to try this place, as I love Thai food. Ordered the spicy seafood soup, mild spicy, because I like to add the the red spicy chili my self. It is wonderful. The flat noodles are great, I asked for it as a combination, chicken, beef and shrimp (not on the menu as such). Ordered pineapple fried rice with shrimp...amazing. I've been meaning to write this review for a while. I just wanted some Thai food one night and looked o Yelp for a place that was close. This place was recommended and boy were the reviewers right! I ordered the shrimp fried rice and my boyfriend had the fish soup. Borth were delicious. I have been ordering from Tip's at least once a week since first discovered it. They dont deliver as I am on the other side of Crenshaw but if I can't find parking I call and she brings the food to the car. It can't get much beter than that. Curbside service on 6th street ! A vegetarian and lover of Thai food, I went with some friends to this place I've heard so much about. The only vegetarian options were an egg roll or some rice. They refused to make Pad Thai without oyster sauce because "they couldn't do it"; or Pad See Ew without egg because "it would stick to the pan"...I volunteered to wash the pan but I was told, no, they were too busy. Food here is HORRIBLE and DISGUSTING. Stay away from this place. We ordered shrimp pad thai, beef pad thai, spicy noodles, beef satay, and wing of angel for company lunch. I asked them to make my spicy noodles a little spicy than normal but they made my order way too spicy for anyone to even smell. The food was delicious. The service was not good. I understand that maybe the server was having a bad day, but she was short with my friend and I the minute we came in. She was quick to tell us that we had five minutes to order before the kitchen closes, if it hadn't already and that we could only stay for 45 minutes tops. Mind you, we were the only customers in the restaurant. For one of our ordered dishes, she refused to bring us an extra plate for a huge platter of rice we bought to share, (I'd like to see the person who could eat that all on their own!) so as a result, she had to deal with the bit of mess we had left on the table. this review is loooong overdue, as i've been coming here for awhile and each time i leave very happy. having thai food outside of thai town is a bit of a risky proposition, but tip's house will make you glad you took the gamble. the menu is a diverse mix of thai/chinese dishes and the business is family owned and run. prices are extremely reasonable, portions are fairly generous, and plating is surprisingly nice. the quality of the food is the reason i keep coming back. i've never had anything at tip's that i didn't think was delicious. though i flirt here and there with the menu, i tend to stay true to my favorite dish of ground mint leaf fried chicken with brown rice topped with a fried egg. oh my god, i think i just got hungry writing that sentence. tip's is definitely a ktown neighborhood gem. service is always very friendly and the food (made by mom) is good to great. the daughter acts as server/runner/cashier and she is chatty and very eager to please. both mom and daughter very obviously care about what they are doing. the restaurant, though not fancy, is always spotlessly clean. the only two downsides i can think of are that they don't accept credit cards and there is very little parking in front. i come here once a week for lunch and i cannot recommend this place enough as a great local value. read more

Kineka feeds my whole family regularly. She is a great woman, and there is so much soul and healing in every amazing dish they serve!!!!! If you care about what goes into your body, and what touches your tongue, DONT PASS TIPS BY!!!!! And people, get there before 7....lol.
