My boyfriend brought his work truck in for a diagnostic due to starting issues and other concerns. We were initially charged for the diagnostic, and then quoted approximately $1,900 for repairs. After leaving the vehicle with them, communication quickly became a major issue. Nearly a full week went by with no updates we had to call them ourselves just to find out what was going on. We were told they were waiting on a part from California and that it would arrive within a couple of days. However, several more days passed with no communication. Each time we followed up, we were given vague answers and repeated assurances that the truck would be "ready later that day or the next." This happened several times on separate occasions where we were told the truck would be ready, only for it not to be. In total, they had the truck for three weeks. This is not just an inconvenience this is our work truck, and the delay directly caused lost income. When the truck was finally picked up, on the very next day one of the original issue was still not resolved. It continued to have trouble starting one of the very issue it was brought in for. When we contacted them about this, instead of taking responsibility, and covering it under the repair warranty they claimed it was a separate problem and informed us it would be an additional charge of $400. Additionally, when we attempted to contact the owner directly to discuss and resolve this issue, our calls were ignored and not returned. This is unacceptable. The purpose of a diagnostic is to identify the issues with the vehicle. Charging nearly $2,000 and returning the truck with the same problem and then charging more for it shows either a lack of competence or a lack of integrity. Overall, the experience was marked by: Poor communication and lack of proactive updates Repeated missed timelines and false assurances Extended delays that caused financial loss Failure to properly diagnose and fix the original issue Additional charges for a problem that should have been addressed initially. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience warrants it. Based on our experience, I would not trust this shop with another vehicle, and I would not recommend it to others.

However, these guys are great. They do good, honest work. They communicate price and time. The office area is clean and comfortable to wait in. They have complimentary drinks and ice cream while you wait. I like that this location is in the heart of Chinatown, so if I know the work is going to take awhile, I can walk to a nearby business to hang out. Between both locations, I have been helped by Marco, Carlos, and Richard, who have all heen great to interact with. Appreciate the all the help they have given me with keeping my cars in good shape!

Carlos was very helpful with having it inspected and going over my concerns that most FJs have. I did get some front end work done that was needed and also had some parts replaced that would need to be replaced in the future , but since they already were going to have it taken apart why wait to do it and have to pay for more labor in the future. I believe in fixing it right now before it breaks and then you have more trouble. I just sold my old car that I had for 10 years today and because I take care of my vehicles the guy didn't even haggle over the price and bought it. He didn't even test drive it first till I insisted ! Anyway , I will be back the end of this month to do fluids before I move out of state. I highly recommend Busy Buggy. They did great work , saved me money , and did the work in one day. I dropped off in the morning and picked up late afternoon. Also I love my 2010 FJ Cruiser. I was looking for a 4Runner for some time now and was lucky to find this one for a great price and great condition so I jumped on it. Everyone says it fits me more than the 4Runner. It is remarkably well taken care of for it's age and it has the same motor as the 4Runner and is more capable off road.

They told me that I needed a $6400 repair to the struts and suspension. I took it to my CA based mechanic and it cost me $1600. NOTHING had to be replaced. We just put the OEM springs back in and they cleaned all parts of the suspension. I guess the 7% consignment fee wasn't enough on my car. They wanted to make another $6400 by lying. BTW, they offered me $85K for my 202 Porsche Turbo. I just sold it through Phillips Auto in Newport Beach CA for $108,500.

I grew up in the automotive repair business. My parents owned successful repair shops for 40 years, so I'm very familiar with how shops operate, how long routine services generally take, and the terminology. I've also worked in a customer-service-based industry myself for 29 years. I understand that businesses get busy and things run behind. What happened at this Pep Boys was far beyond simply "running behind." I arrived at the Flamingo and Jones location at **9:15 a.m. for a scheduled appointment**. I had spoken with Tim the day before, and I want to make it clear that **Tim was great**. He was helpful, professional, and made the appointment for me. I needed three straightforward things: have them check a tire that had been patched at another Pep Boys location because my tire-pressure sensor was going off, rotate my tires, and change my oil before I left town. When I checked in with Lina, I was told it would take approximately **45 minutes**. Given the services being performed, that sounded reasonable. Even if it had taken 60-75 minutes, I wouldn't have had an issue. **I was there for 3 hours and 30 minutes.** When I finally asked Lina why it was taking so long, I was told they were finishing a vehicle ahead of mine. If the shop is that far behind, don't schedule my appointment for 9:15 and then tell me 45 minutes. Tell me the truth. I could have arranged a ride home, gone to lunch, or planned accordingly instead of sitting there for half a day. The lack of a proper waiting area made it even worse. There were essentially two high-top tables, with low chairs brought over from the neighboring business. I had planned my morning around the **45-minute estimate I was given**, not nearly four hours. Then I was told by the mechanic that my oil filter was on too tightly and that if he broke the housing, **I would have to pay for it**. I asked to see it and made it clear that I understood exactly what he was talking about. There are tools and proper procedures for dealing with this situation. Interestingly, I never heard another word about it. But the part that concerned me most came when it was time to pay. The tire patch from the other Pep Boys location turned out to be fine, which Tim had communicated. Yet when Lina presented my bill, I was still being charged the original amount. I asked to see an itemized breakdown. I'm very glad I did. I was still being charged in connection with the tire, and the oil-change coupon I had found online while sitting there for hours had not been applied. **Tim had to correct the invoice and apply the coupon. My bill went from approximately $180 to $120.** That is a **$60 difference**. This is exactly why customers need to look carefully at their invoices before paying. I knew what questions to ask because I grew up around automotive repair shops. I can't help wondering how many customers who don't have that background would simply have handed over their credit card and paid the original amount without questioning it. My biggest issue, however, was Lina's overall customer service. During the 3 1/2 hours I was there, her attitude and communication were consistently poor. There was no sense of urgency, no meaningful update about the delay, and no apparent concern that a customer who had been promised 45 minutes had now been sitting there for hours. If you're running three hours behind, **communicate that to your customer**. Give them the opportunity to leave and come back. And when you prepare their invoice, make sure they're being charged correctly. Tim was the bright spot in this experience and deserves credit for being professional and ultimately correcting the invoice. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience reinforced exactly why I normally avoid Pep Boys. **If you use this location, confirm how long your vehicle will actually take, arrange a ride rather than waiting, and carefully review every line of your invoice before you pay.**
