What happened at this Pep Boys was far beyond simply "running behind." I arrived at the Flamingo and Jones location at **9:15 a.m. for a scheduled appointment**. I had spoken with Tim the day before, and I want to make it clear that **Tim was great**. He was helpful, professional, and made the appointment for me. I needed three straightforward things: have them check a tire that had been patched at another Pep Boys location because my tire-pressure sensor was going off, rotate my tires, and change my oil before I left town. When I checked in with Lina, I was told it would take approximately **45 minutes**. Given the services being performed, that sounded reasonable. Even if it had taken 60-75 minutes, I wouldn't have had an issue. **I was there for 3 hours and 30 minutes.** When I finally asked Lina why it was taking so long, I was told they were finishing a vehicle ahead of mine. If the shop is that far behind, don't schedule my appointment for 9:15 and then tell me 45 minutes. Tell me the truth. I could have arranged a ride home, gone to lunch, or planned accordingly instead of sitting there for half a day. The lack of a proper waiting area made it even worse. There were essentially two high-top tables, with low chairs brought over from the neighboring business. I had planned my morning around the **45-minute estimate I was given**, not nearly four hours. Then I was told by the mechanic that my oil filter was on too tightly and that if he broke the housing, **I would have to pay for it**. I asked to see it and made it clear that I understood exactly what he was talking about. There are tools and proper procedures for dealing with this situation. Interestingly, I never heard another word about it. But the part that concerned me most came when it was time to pay. The tire patch from the other Pep Boys location turned out to be fine, which Tim had communicated. Yet when Lina presented my bill, I was still being charged the original amount. I asked to see an itemized breakdown. I'm very glad I did. I was still being charged in connection with the tire, and the oil-change coupon I had found online while sitting there for hours had not been applied. **Tim had to correct the invoice and apply the coupon. My bill went from approximately $180 to $120.** That is a **$60 difference**. This is exactly why customers need to look carefully at their invoices before paying. I knew what questions to ask because I grew up around automotive repair shops. I can't help wondering how many customers who don't have that background would simply have handed over their credit card and paid the original amount without questioning it. My biggest issue, however, was Lina's overall customer service. During the 3 1/2 hours I was there, her attitude and communication were consistently poor. I was happy with this choice as it is easy to make an appointment ahead of time and they give you lots of reminders. When I arrived, my vehicle was taken. You can follow along by text. I requested a battery check since my vehicle was a couple years old and they advised a new one. They seemed honest and did a good job on the oil change and battery replacement. I had an appointment for a tire repair for a screw that was on top of the tire. When I showed up they were instantly questioned if they can fix it. After 20 minutes they looked at thr tire and said yes its repairable but they wont because of some invisible band of inner tire ware. You cant see that they were looking at. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!! I brought my car in to get new tires put on today 9/24/23. As I pulled out of the parking lot I notice the (!) sign on my screen. They allowed me to drive off the lot with one of my tires being at 35 when the recommended pressure is 45. So I had to turn around and have them fill up my tires after already being there for over 3 hours with an 11AM appt in a waiting room that is SERIOUSLY disgusting while having to watch a family walk in out using the restroom without washing their hands. Then, upon getting home I realized that the rims on my tires are DESTROYED! I am truly shocked at how horrible my experience was for a simple service such as putting new tires on my car. I have photos to prove that the damage was done at this facility. & you can also check the paperwork where it states that my car had NO damage prior to taking my car back. In fact I was told "my car is spotless". I also want to add that your store manager is ridiculously unprofessional. One employee who I'm assuming is newer (and extremely nice), was flustered trying to deal with other customers at the same time. & your manager just sat there and watched him struggle without offering help. In fact, he made it a point to let everyone know he was about to be clocking out because it was "Mexican food time" while showing us the employee clock in/clock out screen on the computer with all of his credentials imputed while I'm standing there waiting to be cashed out after had being there over a hour longer than I was told. Imagine you are driving to Nevada, and when you have 91 miles-give or take-left on your trip, you hear something that you shouldn't. Most likely, I was blasting something embarrassing, and a horrendous sound interrupted, probably telling me my taste in music sucks. I turned off my A/C hoping that was it (it wasn't) and I downgraded my speed. It's around 1p so the sun was high and there was nothing around me but dry desert. Needless to say, this was not ideal. When I pulled over in Summerlin, I checked underneath to see a lovely piece of God-knows-what dangling down which was causing the static/dragging noise. After calling my mechanic back home, he told me it was nothing to worry about and instructed me to find a body shop that could remove it. The fact he knew what this was even though he was one state over made me realize this is why I pay a lot of money to mechanics since my education in automobiles is absolute...nil. Carefully, I drove to my hotel and right away started checking local auto shops on here that could give me a quote. Happy to say about 4-5 replied, and one sounded really good. I even tried to remove it myself but that wasn't working. However, I saw a Pep Boys wasn't too far down Flamingo, so off I went. Walking in, it was a strange scene due to the way things are now. Shelves were gone, space was made available where a few comfortable (!) chairs were spaced apart appropriately. Two people behind the counter were discussing soap operas so I went to the man that was on the phone. I explained my issue and he said he could have one of his guys take a look. This nice guy was named Danny. Some of the workers were on lunch so I settled in one of those comfy chairs for about 30-40 minutes which was fine; I was just grateful to have it fixed. Danny brought out the part and asked if I wanted it (why not) so he wiped it down and even bagged it for me. The actual mechanic came out to meet me to chat briefly and this whole experience cost me absolutely nothing. It was thankfully a simple removal, and I felt much more comfortable heading back in my car. I wish I would have gotten this mechanic's name, but the two men I dealt with today were nothing but friendly and helpful. Thanks Pep Boys in Nevada! EDIT: Damn it, they closed? Needed a service completed ASAP. Called several places who quoted outrageous prices. Called pep boys and they literally were $300 plus dollars cheaper than the other quotes. Arrived, and was able to drop off vehicle same day (it was late afternoon). Delano assisted with my vehicle and informed me of another issue that needed to be taken care of ASAP. FANTASTIC (said sarcastically). I shopped around for the parts needed and was able to drop of the parts to pep boys for them to repair everything. Such a relief. The only negative was that they returned my car but forgot to reset the dash etc. because it was close to closing they had to keep the car another day to remedy that issue. However, Delano called me the following day bright and early letting me know the dash was reset and my car was ready for pick up. Delano also provided a discount for the unexpected issues that arose.
