On June 3, 2026 I made a reservation for a party of four via OpenTable at 5:15pm. We had just flown in for my husband's mother's memorial service. My husband is a 100% disabled, 25-year Navy SEAL veteran who suffers from PTSD and has a legitimate psychiatric service dog. Upon arrival we informed the hostess we had a service dog. She offered outdoor seating and we politely requested inside, which is our legal right under the ADA. She began to seat us in a section with no other customers present. The owner, Saki Kavouniaris, then entered and aggressively told us we could not eat inside and that if we wanted to eat there we needed to go outside. We calmly explained that this is a certified service dog and that refusing entry is not allowed per ADA. As I began to present documentation (which is not legally required but which we had already prepared with the airline) he abruptly interrupted and stated, and I am quoting directly: "I don't give a F who he is. I'm a Greek Navy SEAL. I had a dog in here that made a mess and I had to clean it up. You can't eat here. You want to eat here, go outside." When I asked his name he replied "It doesn't matter what my F'ing name is." I calmly informed him I would be reporting the incident and left. He continued with additional profanity as I walked out. I am grateful my husband and his family were already outside and did not witness this exchange. The hostess was present for the entire incident. This is not an isolated occurrence and public reviews document similar treatment of other guests by this owner. We are filing formal complaints with the U.S. Department of Justice under the ADA, the California Civil Rights Department under the Unruh Civil Rights Act, and have retained legal counsel. A veteran who served this country for 25 years deserved basic human dignity. He did not receive it here. read more

It has been years since I've been to Spin a Yarn. We used to frequent it when we loaded in the area. I was worried since I heard there were changes but it certainly was worth the return. Ambiance was great. The food was made really well. I had the Wild Salmon with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Salmon was tender and made to perfection. This visit was disappointing from start to finish. The food quality was poor, and the service was even worse. Given the prices and the restaurant's reputation, we expected far more. We won't be returning. There were a few positives. The Wild Mushroom Rigatoni with chicken was flavorful and well-prepared. The filet was cooked to a proper medium-well, and the vegetables and potatoes were enjoyable. The bar also offers a solid drink selection, including full bottles of wine and champagne. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. The oysters were tasteless and dry. The halibut was overcooked and extremely dry. Both desserts lacked flavor and moisture, and tasted like frozen, store‑bought items. The worst part of the experience was the Prime Rib. We ordered it medium‑rare, but it arrived well‑done. Hands down, one of the most epic nights out we've ever had! If you're anywhere near Warm Springs, CA, drop everything and get yourself to Spin-A-Yarn Steakhouse for their Comedy Night. This place is a hidden gem that delivers on EVERY level: jaw-dropping food, killer service, and laugh-till-you-cry entertainment. We kicked off with their specials and... Oh. My. God. We started off with Oysters Rockefeller. The waiter suggested a splash of Tabasco to add a touch of spice. They were the bomb: hot, delicious, cheesy and well garnished with spinach. My giant veal chop was a massive, perfectly seared beast, served with roasted mixed veggies and creamy mashed potatoes swimming in rich mushroom gravy. My partner went for the prime rib--tender, juicy, and cooked to absolute perfection, with a loaded baked potato and fresh veggies on the side, plus spicy horseradish and piping hot au jus. I've provided some pics to showcase these amazing dishes. We paired it perfectly: she sipped strawberry daiquiris, I started with a smooth glass of pinot noir, then cruised into IPAs for the laughs and crisp Modelos for the after show. The host, Jeremey Curry, warmed up the crowd for four comedians. Headliner Ellis Rodriguez and the whole crew had the entire room in stitches. Bryant Hicks was a strong opener for Ellis with headliner vibes. We laughed our asses off... and got pulled into the show! One comic riffed on being invited to hang with "white folk" and throwing axes, scanned the crowd, locked eyes with me, and hit me with: "Of course this mother fucker has... look at this Viking fucker right here!" (Guilty as charged--long white hair, long white beard, the whole Norse vibe). The crowd lost it, and honestly, it made the night legendary. But it didn't end there. There was still live music in the main room by the bar. They were unironically playing the 'white anthems' mentioned by one of the comics during their bit (Sweet Caroline and Don't Stop Believing). After a few songs, we spilled out onto the awesome patio, fired up some smokes, sipped a few Modelos straight from the tap, and just vibed--chatting and cracking up with two of the comics till late. Pure magic. The comedy crowd energy and post-show hangout vibes were unforgettable. And yes, that patio is exactly the perfect chill spot for hanging out with friends on those cool spring nights. Although I've lived a large part of my life in Fremont, I've never been to Spin A Yarn Restaurant- until yesterday! Even with a big sign, it's somehow easy to miss. Regardless, they have a private parking lot that is quite spacious. Even on a busy Wednesday evening, I was able to find parking easily. The restaurant is very cute. It has that classic, low-key, homey feel to it. It's a little dark and chill, which is what I like. They were very busy last night but we were seated immediately. A nice table for two that was just the right size near the firewall area. Our server was very nice, attentive, fast and informative. She was able to answer all of our questions without any hesitation; she really knew her menu. The food was magnificent. I ordered the eggplant parmesan which comes with a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. It was a good portion size and filled me up without feeling heavy. The bread brought to the table when first seated was to die for. We had a couple of glasses of wine that we thoroughly enjoyed. The server comes back and refills your glass from a separate, smaller glass on the table. That was pretty cool. Overall, I had a great experience here. The service was good. The food was good. The Christmas decorations were excellent. They had the Warriors game playing at the bar, making it easy to peek every now and then to see how the game is going. Just a good time in general. We went for the mother brunch and it was beautiful with a nice spread. It is 67.00 per adult and 30.00 per kids under 12. The prime rib stole the show. It was moist and tender and cooked to perfection. The other sides and the other foods were alright. The Benedict simply had ham nothing too special. There are things in the buffet that needs to be labeled. There were dishes with gravy and I had no clue what I was eating. The dessert table was huge but none of the cakes were outstanding. Plenty of private parking in their lot - there are a few parking spaces the front, but more on the side and in the back. Service was not bad, our waiter was friendly, but the service was a bit slow for being the only customers here at the time. My friends and I were looking for a spot to eat, we were literally driving past this place and remembered that they were featured on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. We decided to give them a try - we came on a weekday afternoon and were literally the only ones here with 1 additional group who came after us. My friends and I took advantage of their Early Bird Special menu, which is our choice of a starter, main course, and dessert from a set menu for about $35. My friends and I chose a few different choices and we shared. They chose a combo of Avgolemono Soup or Sweet Corn Chowder for the starter; New York Steak (served with mashed potatoes and veggies) or Pork Chop (served with apples and mashed potatoes) for the main course; and Cheesecake or Tiramisu for dessert. I chose the Salmon (served with rice pilaf and veggies), Avgolemono Soup, and Cheesecake. We agreed the Pork Chop was the best entree out of the 3 and the Avgolemono Soup was the best starter out of the 2. We were indifferent about the sides that came with our food, as it was a bit bland / dry. The other entrees were just alright / decent, a bit on dry, while the other soup was a bit on the saltier side. The desserts were decent, nothing that really wowed us. Although the service was a bit slow for a restaurant that was empty, we felt like our server was friendly and welcoming during our visit and even gave us recommendations. Overall, food was just decent, but we felt like their special was worth it to get to try a starter, main entree, and dessert for a set price. Went there for Valentine day dinner and ordered from their special Valentine's Day menu. I ordered eggplant Parmesan. Other than veggie and potato, there is two small piece of eggplant, very thinly sliced, heavy and oily crust, placed on top of a big splatter of tomato sauce! The cheese is one piece of sliced Parmesan cheese on top of the eggplant. The $40 entree tasted like something out of a school cafeteria. My gf ordered the halibut. The fish is cooked to no flavors. Eating it was like chewing on a piece of plastic. The Orzo on the side was cold, dried, and tasted stale. Maybe a leftover from day before? The $49 entree was much less quality than expected. for a $100 dinner (before tips), the only things met expectation was the side of veggie and mashed potato. Will not go again! read more
