Shi-ho roll and Salmon/Yellowtail nigiri. (I started before the photo was taken!
    Mary Alice E.

Sushi was delish! Nigiri isn't on the menu but they offer it! They girls working with sweet and answered all my questions! It's a small place so don't expect an elaborate place. Top notch close to home! SCORE!

Passion fruit refresher - very good

I've been here a bunch of times, and the food never misses -- always fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The crispy rice spicy tuna is hands down my favorite dish, probably the best I've ever had. The sushi rolls are super fresh, and the udon noodles are packed with flavor. Definitely try the toasts, too (it is their thing, after all) -- I love the avocado egg, and my husband swears by the smoked salmon. The coffees and refreshers are great as well. They have such a nice variety of things here, something for everyone. It's a cozy little spot in a small strip center, so keep an eye out, or you might miss it. Totally worth checking out!

Half salmon half tuna poke bowl, best I have had since coming back from Hawaii and Guam!

Amazing food, fresh ingredients and top notch service. Small place hidden away! Worth the visit. They serve breakfast and lunch! Avocado toast to a great egg plate and sushi to poke bowls.

Wonderful hospitality and amazing food. Fantastic customer service. As soon as we walked in we were greeted, and seated immediately. As we sat we were given a tasty miso soup on the house, we placed our appetizer order which was the octopus pancake and the shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was delicious and crunchy. The octopus pancakes were soft and creamy not too hot just perfect temperature. We ordered the pirate roll and the samurai roll along with sushi. Everything was so delicious and fresh tasting. I really enjoyed the pirate's spice, it's got a jalapeño on the top and is just the perfect amount of spice for spicy lovers the samurai roll was so flavorful and soft with a slight hint of spice which was very enjoyable. The sushi was very fresh and delightful. Definitely coming back! They also gave us some ice cream on the house before we left which we really appreciate it. We came a good hour before they closed and they were so polite, some places they feel rushed when this happens, sushiyo is not one of those places they went above and beyond! Thank you Sushiyo! You have amazing food and great staff. Parking wise they are limited in the front but if you go around there's more spaces in the back. I really hope you come and visit them!

Titanic Roll and yellowtail roll. Delicious!!

Located so close to my house, is this amazing Sushi restaurant nestled and tucked away in the corner of a small strip center on Barker Cypress near 529. Sushiyo is fairly new, and I definitely wanted to show support to a new family owned neighborhood restaurant! I came in at 730 on a Thursday. Since they are fairly new, it was just me and another couple enjoying dinner. Our server/sushi chef was very kind and attentive. He was working the front and the back himself.. I didn't even notice! I ordered the Titanic Roll and yellowtail roll and the specialty titanic roll. I was pleasantly surprised HOW FRESH the sushi was. The yellowtail was chilled just right and wrapped perfectly! The Titanic Roll was also amazingly made as well. It's probably some of the best sushi ratios I have seen in so long. The spicy tuna, salmon, and yellowtail melted in my mouth. Yellowtail can have a tendency to sometimes be a bit rubbery if it is not prepared fresh.. NOT the case. Some of the most fresh sushi I have had in some time. I'm not sure if their stock was just brought in for the weekend, but I came on the perfect day! I will definitely make this my regular go-to sushi spot. Please show love to this family owned business! Since it was just us, our sushi master came by and also gave us the juiciest piece of orange for a sweet kick. It was very welcoming, and I enjoyed every bite! Until next time, Sushiyo!!!

I'm kind of a sushi snob so I don't mind driving to the city for quality sushi. With that said, sometimes you just get desperate and just don't have the time or energy for the long trek. I found this little gem thanks to Yelp. I'm all for supporting small and local businesses, but especially to places that deserve it. The fish is the freshest you can get this far out in the burbs. The prices are extremely fair for the quality. The rolls are ridiculously huge and filling. The owner/chef is the sweetest person and really appreciates the business. This place is really new, maybe open a few weeks? So the staff is still learning the menu and working out the kinks. Be kind and patient.

Excellent Quality and Freshness. I had Uni that was imported from Japan. Super delicious!!!! I had a wide variety of sushi dishes and each 9ne was a delicious masterpiece at a good price and great portions. It's a mom and pop restaurant that just opened. There is a large parking lot in the rear of the restaurant and a small lot up front. I drove from Cypress which a little far but definitely worth the drive. The chef and waitress are very passionate about their place and it shows.

This Small Family owned sushi Joint has just Opened today! The customer service is phenomenal! The atmosphere is cute and trendy! Very clean inside! Now let's get tot the food! The sushi rolls where all very very delicious! I really enjoyed the Volcano Roll and the Baked Baby Scallop Roll and my family also really loved the Cajun Roll! The Dragon Roll was good as well! We also had chicken Katsu (I forgot to take a photo) But it was one of the best Katsu's I had in a long time it was crispy on the outside and very juicy and moist on the inside! My 9 year old approved! Also for price it is amazing for the quality of the food and freshness! Cheaper then most places I have tried and taste even better! I became a fan! Highly Recommend! Great place to catch a dinner with your family or even with your significant other! I would definitely go back to try other items as well! My experience was a 10/10!

10000000% recommended. This small mom-and-pop sushi spot is one of my favorite sushi place in Houston. The food is generous portion, fresh and delicious. price is reasonable and affordable. Service is superb and amazing. They offer beer and wine. Having sushi with cool Japanese beer is the best!!!!!

    Shrimp Tempura Appetizer
    Amy B.

First off, everyone is so nice!! Very attentive, helpful, and welcoming. The atmosphere is clean and calming. The portions are very large for the price. Everything tasted super fresh and was made to order. We had the shrimp tempura appetizer, miso soup, 4 pieces of sushi, a Red Dragon, Philadelphia, Rainbow, and Super. This was our first time in and we will definitely be back!

10000/10. The sushi here was delicious! Everything tasted fresh. The gimbap was made with fluffy eggs that's not the overly sweet ones that you get from other places/grocery store. Our favorite the was the seared salmon.... It was DIVINEEE. Everything was soo good!

    Yum, rainbow roll!

Very fresh! Service was superb n friendly owners. Clean facility n good quality of food. We will be back.

this spot is a cute lil thing tucked into the corner of a strip. the night we went it was just the chef and his wife so service was a little slow but the quality of the sushi and the service itself was worth it. every single bite was delicious and flavorful. the owner was so very friendly and polite. absolutely loved it and will be coming back

In the past they would bring out a bread basket, as a free appetizer like how some mexican restaurants bring out chips and salsa, however, they dont seem to do that here anymore. Service at the table was mediocre, our waitress took our drink order and on the way over, the waitress was spilling the drinks over the floor on the way to our table. After our waitress took our order, my gf did not get the mayo on the side as she had asked, and after we received our food, our waitress never came around to check on us, didn't refill our drinks or anything. The place was very loud, louder than visiting waffle house. I was trying to have a conversation with my gf sitting just across the table from one another, and we were having to literally yell at one another just to hear what each other were saying. My gf did state that the sandwich she ordered was a big sandwich, and was more than she could finish. Once we were ready to go, our waitress still hadn't been around to check on us. So I had to flag down someone else, to get us some to go boxes, and our check. Low and behold, when I was ready to checkout, the waitress appears out of nowhere, after all this time, I'm guessing because she thought she was going to get a good tip. I'm sorry, waitstaff only get a great tip from me, once and if they perform a great job duty, and this was not the case in this matter. Maybe, better luck next time, maybe Papas needs to hire better waitstaff worth hiring and keeping.

I wanted to start with one biscuit, but the biscuits come in pairs. The waitress said I could order just one anyway, but the order ended up being two. I meant to save the second one for breakfast, but that was not to be. It did not survive long enough to make it out the door. My actual meal was a bacon swiss and mushroom burger, which was excellent. Between the biscuits and the burger, I am forced to acknowledge that it was entirely too much food. Sadly, that did not prevent me from eating all of it anyway. Delicious! The restaurant, which is a diner with very basic decor, is on an approach road to IAH, and is open 24/7. When I arrived in the evening, the place was empty. By the time I left, there were a whole bunch of customers. I noticed in other reviews that people were saying they did not receive checks for their meal and felt they were over-charged at the register. I did not receive a check either, but the amount I was charged at the register seemed accurate -- and I was paying attention because I had read the other reviews first.

We shared a bowl of the potato soup where we had no expectations and I thought it tasted pretty decent. But the real test was the entrees. Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. We reached consensus immediately that both dishes were well-seasoned and quite delicious, meaning we would return for more good food in the future. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
