Food was really great. I ordered the eggs Benedict with avocado, and it was delicious. The only bad thing is the food took a long time to arrive which made parts of my meal cold. If I sent it back that would take another 30 min. The wait was over an hour and to get food took long as well. No thanks. Luckily good food is good cold as it is hot. read more

Came here for the first time with friends and it was delicious!! Got the eggs benedict and I will definitely be having them again. My latte was also really good. Toast is a cute little gem of a brunch spot with a really nice staff. Shout out to our server Diana who helped our table and was really welcoming and friendly even though she was really busy with the lunch rush. The food was decent, but a lot of our dishes were dirty. There was a piece of smeared food on one of my drink glasses which I decided to flick off and look past, but then the plastic straws brought by the server had crumbs on it and my knife was streaky. Lastly, my water glass had fresh lipstick stains all over the mouth of the cup which I obviously couldn't let slide, especially in a pandemic. Came here to a cute little hipster-y restaurant. They tell us that there'll be a 10 min wait just to order, which is strange, but I guess is more appreciated than just taking the order and making us wait 10 extra minutes for freaking toast. The service was friendly enough. I ordered the Cali Fresh (without feta) two toast meal for $12.20, and they took my "kinda runny kinda scrambled" instructions for the eggs. As ordered, I got a small side of potatoes with bell peppers and two small eggs... very ordinary. The toast had a thin layer of avocado on top and some sliced tomatoes. I personally did not like the red pepper flakes, and they forgot my other toast, so when I asked for it I asked for garlic salt instead. It was better imo but nowhere worth the $12.20 + tip/tax. At first the waiter got confused and asked if I requested no tomatoes (instead of red pepper flakes), but wtf that'd literally just be toast with avocado on it. There's nothing else to take off... Anyway, my friend ordered the Santa Barbara two toast meal for $15.20 and they forgot her potatoes. When she asked for them, the waiter said that she was the one who didn't specify for the meal, but she got the eggs, so they clearly got the message. It's fine, but just own up to it please. Her toast came with a good amount of salmon imo but the potatoes and side of hollandaise sauce were too salty. My other friend ordered the Ranchero for $13.20, and it just tasted like toast topped with some salsa and cheese... nothing special at ALL. Overall, the food and service were extremely, extremely mediocre for an overly high price. The bill was around $47 for some toast, potatoes and eggs. read more

We just happened upon this place for breakfast and wow!! I haven't read the other reviews, so if everyone else has mentioned the country potatoes, sorry but those are seriously the best potatoes I've ever had in my life!! Nice big chunks of potatoes, a bit crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, seasoned to perfection and cooked with red onions. I could order a huge plate of just the potatoes and be a very happy girl. I also ordered the salmon Benedict and was not disappointed. My hubby ordered the simple breakfast and almost licked his plate. Lol. Having said all that, it's pretty pricey so I couldn't afford to go there regularly, but they only use the best ingredients, non GMO, nothing frozen, gluten free, so I get it. Toast was recommended to me by a coworker, so I had a small idea of what I was getting myself into. Other than a tiny dining area, Toast was a great experience. We were greeted as soon as we came in the door, were led to our table within minutes and had great service throughout. The waitress did a wonderful job explaining the way the restaurant works and giving us great bread/overall food suggestions. The toast that I chose was great, but a bit pricey. Overall, I had a good experience at Toast and love that it's close to me in Whittier so that I could go back at a different time. read more

However, to not acknowledge my server's (Kevin) AMAZING service would be...simply awful!!! I just went to Toast with my wife and son. I had the Cali (toast, avocados, cherry tomatoes , lime/lemon and Himalayan salt), my wife had a toast with Nutella on it and coconut shavings, and my son had a toast with Nutella, cream cheese, bananas and chia seeds on it. How were they? Simply put, PERFECT!!! However, I would like to reiterate that although the food was off-the-hook, it was Kevin's service that sealed the deal. Highly overrated!! I only gave one star because it is the least I can give. It has the prices of a sit down restaurant but the service quality of McDonald's. I ordered pancakes with bacon and eggs. Bacon was half decent, eggs were ok at best and pancakes were a disappointment. Our server claimed that this is the only place she'll order pancakes because she only likes her mom's pancakes....... her mom must make shitty pancakes. My wife ordered a Denver omelette added avocado and a side of fruit. Neither avocado nor fruit came while being served, and for some reason took ten minutes for them to go get them. Potatoes were extremely undercooked. And it seemed as if someone just got lazy when cutting the veggies because they were cut in huge chunks. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The name is very suiting for this brunch spot. They serve open face sandwiches (basically fancy toast) and French toast as their specialties. We got a bacon avocado toast, which was pretty good, but also something that you could probably make at home for less than $7. We also got the salmon eggs Benedict which was pretty good! Probably my favorite of the three things we got. Our third item was cream cheese French toast, which was French toast with a cream cheese sauce topping. Very, very sweet, but pretty tasty. Would come again since service was very friendly, but probably not often since price was pretty steep for what you get. read more

I wanted to love this place but it didn't work out. My husband and I decided to go and the service was awful. Theres a sign in book outside but it defeated the purpose...we got passed up and waited for a long time. When we were seated, we were forgotten about. The waiter finally took our order but seemed annoyed that we had a couple questions about what we were going to choose. The staff all seem unhappy and jaded. I ordered the bacon up and it was unimpressive to be honest. It was topped with raw red onions which seemed weird. I might give it another go but I'm debating. The owners need to figure out how to help their staff. Happy staff will equal better service. They need to also consider a Hostess so that customers aren't responsible for signing and keeping track of whether or not they've been passed up in line. When theres a ton of people waiting out front, have someone come out and give some small samples of your flavored lemonades or something. Let them know they haven't been forgotten. Just had an amazing time at Toast Whittier. There was a bit of a wait, even for a rainy day, but well worth it. The place is small but the quality is grand! I've ordered the Mexican mocha and it was exceptional! We order our drinks first with our server, Diane and received them shortly after, which is impressive for a busy morning. Then I ordered the super Spanish omelette, very fresh and great flavor. Diane was very attentive and made our experience memorable. The whole staff were great. Either way based on the reviews we decided to give the place a try. My boyfriend and I tried TOAST Whittier today for the first time. The reviews were mixed so we didn't want to get our hopes up too high but still wanted to give them a chance. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED their food. My boyfriend had the Tony's French Toast plus a side of eggs and bacon with a cold coffee. I had the Santa Barbara Toast plate (great Norwegian smoked salmon with onions and dill on avocado spread) and a house coffee. Then I noticed another table had these pretty looking pinkish cold drinks. I asked our waiter what that was and she said it was Watermelon Lemonade. I just had to try it and it was refreshingly delicious. Our tastebuds rejoiced. EVERYTHING was sooo good, far better than we expected. We will definitely be back.
