This is a place you have to try. High energy, Great food and amazing drinks. Shrimp Fajitas were perfect portion size and delicious. The service was fantastic. Book it and go. Thank me later.
We recently returned here to meet up with some friends out of town, as I knew their vibe was right along with this place. Even on a Sunday at 8 PM. The place was fully packed, and the entertainment and vibe were as expected, as if it was a Saturday night. As for food, we all tried different margaritas to start, and we decided to split and share the calamari and guacamole, and indulge on the chips and salsa. The chips, however, were very, very salty. Everyone commented on that, and it felt like the salsa that was served with it could've been better. It was 'soupy' and non-inviting. It definitely needed some more tomato base to add some overall thickness to the dish. We had multiple servers, which was good, as one focused on drinks and the other focused on food, but it was like day and night between the two so it was a little hard to keep track of things that we were ordered & placed, and at times it was overwhelming as we felt pressured 2 mins to place a drink or food order. As far as the main courses, a lot of us focused on 4 tacos entrée and different sides across the board... Kale salad, Street corn, the Broccolini, and Cilantro Lime Rice. Of course, we went with some fire shots to sync with the vibe that was going on, but we did have a couple near misses where I thought the fire was gonna set somebody's head on fire like Michael Jackson. Always enjoy the vibe... however, I felt the attention to detail and personal touch was lacking for us that night. Looking forward to a better experience moving forward
The place was vibrant and amazing. The fire dancer with the guitar player. Really gives the energy and atmosphere of being in a Tulum restaurant in the middle of Mexico. The decor matches perfectly, and if you get too cold, they have blankets available for you to wrap yourself with. It was a particularly busy night, which I can see why they need reservations. However, it's still did not give excuse for why the food was not up to par. My rice was extremely cold, and it felt like it had been sitting out for a while and my shrimp, thought cooked perfectly, was not of temperature as if it was just made. Overall, the waiter was amazing, the drinks were good, and it's a great experience to have if you're ever in the Scottsdale area.
Me and my girls had so many high hopes for this spot during our girls trip to Scottsdale. We were highly disappointed. This review is based on the service alone, which dictated our whole experience. It trumped everything and we honestly left vowing to never go back. Let me first start by saying that we had a 6:45 pm reservation and arrived 10 mins early. We weren't seated until 7 pm. That don't bother us as much. The restaurant was beautiful and we just knew we were about to have a great experience. We ordered drinks and noticed the waitress was just ok. We overlooked it and ordered our food. Some of the food was incorrect, so we notified our waitress. While explaining what the issue was, she basically cut us off and asked if we wanted something else or the same dish. We made it clear that we wanted something else. She was clearly agitated, Snatched the plate from my friend and walked off. She the came back to the table to explain that the dish she wanted to order would cost more...as if we didn't know that. It's almost as if she was insinuating we could not afford it. That was an instant turnoff. We stopped eating and my friend requested that the chef not even make the plate. On top of that, when we confronted her about her attitude, there was no apology or anything from her. We were done. On top of that, my enchiladas were just "ok". Highly disappointed experience. If I had her name, I'd absolutely name drop it here!
First off this is definitely a must try while in Scottsdale Arizona. I had booked this restaurant for the bride because of the high reviews and the amazing entertainment that was offered. The restaurants decor was beautiful. The aesthetics were calm and welcoming. I loved all of the trees that sat in the middle. I ordered a mocktail, which was amazing. All of my friends ordered drinks and they were delectable. I tried a couple of them. We ordered appetizers from the guacamole that had pomegranate seeds and sunflower seeds. Inside of it was so good. To the plantain chips to the ceviche it was so fresh. Then we ordered our entrées, which were so amazing. Everything came out fresh and hot. Definitely make sure you bring your money when you come here. It's very expensive but worth it if you want a fancy restaurant. We did not try any of the desserts, unfortunately but we did see other people ordering the desserts and looked so good. There was a beautiful woman who is doing a fire show for us and she definitely caught the crowds attention in our attention. I would definitely come back. This place is 10 stars.
Visit this place every time we are visiting Scottsdale! Love it! This was a while back can't remember or name the dishes in the pictures but just know it was very very good. Service was excellent and they were busy! Atmosphere, well.... Superb. Place is very clean not too load and aesthetic!
Toca Madera was everything!!! The food, the service, the interior absolutely stunning. We were visiting Scottsdale for a bachelorette trip and had our final dinner here. To say we were impressed is an understatement. The attention to detail and commitment to customers having a good experience is evident. Get ready to be transported to Mexico City in the dessert. The vibe is upscale night out so come dressed to impressed. Everyone looked good the staff and patrons understood the assignment. While we waited for our table we waited at the bar in the back and had some cocktails, I recommend the espresso martini. There was a live dj set, guitar player and a fire show performance. Once we were sat Brad was our server and he took great care of us all night. Made great recommendations pairing food and drinks and he was not wrong. I had the prawns and a Serrano tequila cocktail that was amazing! Must stop if you're in Scottsdale.
The place is exclusive and it is instagram picture ready. The service was great and the people are kind. The main reason to go there is to have a good time and enjoy the food. When we got there they took us by the bar and I must say their drinks are good and very eye pleasing. However the inside was very hot and all of out people were sweating and several other people kept fanning themselves with whatever they could. It was not a great experience, made it uncomfortable and hard to relax. As per the food it was definitely very OK. Nothing super tasty or extremely good. The one that I would recomend would be the queso fundido. It is a good place to have a drink, and a happy hour apatizer, but I would not go there just for the food
Amazing ambiance with even better service. I will say this place is on the higher end of everything, but the quality is definitely worth it. The food tasted great, but the portion sizes are on the smaller size. I ordered the burger and received what seemed to be a slider.
Wow and WOW! What an experience! Yes, you are going to spend ALOT of money here but the food was so amazing as well as the service... and do not get me started on the decor! This is an experience you will not forget or regret! I treated my daughter's bachelorette group here and we all could not rave enough about our food! From the chips and salsa...to the guacamole....to the taco flights we all were incredibly happy. The sea bass tacos were everyone's favorite taco. I ordered the short rib enchiladas and could not believe how happy my taste buds were. The meat was so flavorful with the chilis I could not get enough. Sooo amazing! Yes...be prepared for sticker shock but everyone in our party of 7 was incredibly happy.
I've been to Toca Madera multiple times, and I personally don't usually feel that the food is worth the price. This visit was for brunch, which starts with cornbread and butter when you're seated. I didn't love it, as it had whole corn kernels baked into it. I know some people enjoy that style, but it wasn't my preference. I ordered the sashimi next, which was one of the best dishes of the meal and truly melted in my mouth. I also tried the wagyu wonton tacos. I didn't find them particularly special, though my friend enjoyed them a lot. The Mexican chop salad with salmon was one of the best salads I've had by far, but the salmon itself was a bit dry. Lastly, I ordered the street tacos. The carne asada was very good, while the sea bass was just okay. Service was excellent. Our server frequently checked on us, helped explain menu items, and the bussers were constantly refilling our water. The ambiance is fun and lively, with lots of windows and natural light. However, the music is always very loud, which is usually why I don't go often. It can be hard to hear conversations. Overall, the food is decent, but I don't always think it's worth the price
The food was good not spectacular. Pricey but you're paying for the ambiance and the experience. The tacos were good but not for the price. 4 tacos for $40 and that's all you got. No rice or beans, that's extra. I'm more practical, but the aesthetics was beautiful if that's your thing. My thing is food and drinks that is reasonable.
As soon as you enter you're blown away by the production. It looks like you're in the jungle with cool upbeat music but without being too overpowering. A woman was doing the coolest fire dancing I've ever seen with someone else doing live guitar solos. The food was all amazing and so much of it was very truffle forward. The taco flight was excellent and this was definitely the best guacamole I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Hoping to make another trip back one day soon

TikTok hyped this location so bad. Went on Tuesday for the taco Tuesday night. We were sat ALL THE WAY in the back (restaurant was 30% full). Ordered drinks and food and then afterwards we remembered to ask the waitress what happened with the taco night menu...she then stated "oh we only give it to you if you ask", SMH! Food came out, I give the macaroni and salmon both 2/10. Sauce on the salmon had this weird expired tarte taste. The guacamole & chips were the only thing that was 10/10! We also asked her about the dancer w/ the fire. The dancer came out 15 mins later and danced for 2 mins in the same box area on the video, no exaggeration! This. Place. Rocks. It's probably one of the top 5 restaurants I have ever been. We were in Arizona for a bachelor's trip and eating here was on our to-do-list as soon as we started planning the trip. We were a bit hungover from the night before but boy am I glad we kept the appointment for this place. We ended up getting the mimosas and felt nice by the time we left. You can just tell as soon as you walk into this place that it is classy. The room was very bright and everyone was fun and friendly. They were even doing some sort of photo shoot with models at a table near us. We offered to give our services by posing for photos but they respectful declined . Bathroom rating: six stars. Now to the food. Just look at the pictures! Nothing is a miss on this menu. But the one thing we ordered that I didn't get a good picture of was the random cheese. Fried cheese. Just a bowl of cheese. Order it. Everything else was good too. We got cornbread for the table and this is the best cornbread I've ever had. I really wanted to love this place, especially considering how exceptionally the LA location delivers. While the Scottsdale location is SIGNIFICANTLY larger, the service and food are lacking. We came as a group of 9 as a bachelorette party (complying with all the dress codes of the restaurant), while still hoping to make our late lunch special and celebratory. The hostess barely cared to regard this, and the waiter didn't deliver either despite openly acknowledging our bride. I asked multiple times for fire shots and other festive things for the table as a surprise for the bride, but ended up with just a brownie with a scoop of ice cream at the end. The worst part is they didn't even clear our table or bring new serveware before dessert. As for the food, the guac lacks seasoning and citrus all together. The ceviche is AWFUL - the fish is far from fresh and leaves a bitter aftertaste in your mouth. The dish also lacks seasoning and lime and everything else you'd expect from a ceviche. It honestly spoiled my appetite for the rest of the day, even just after one bite. The drinks, chips and salsa are solid. I also enjoyed the music playing in the background. However, I ultimately expected much better food and service from a restaurant of this caliber. They have fire shows at 3-4 different times in the evenings, so if you do choose to check this restaurant out, I recommend doing so for dinner and not brunch. This place seems like the "hot spot" in town and popular amongst the younger crowd. I loved that everyone came dressed to impress to go with the ambiance. The front door staff were polite and welcoming and we were able to get seated fairly quickly. I wish I had come in with a bigger appetite because I didn't really have the capacity to try the items I wanted to. I went with the Sea-bass tacos and it was so good. It was seasoned so well that you didn't need much for decoration. I ate mine without the crema. I was actually surprised at how thick the taco was, so two was the perfect serving size. Our waiter gave several recommendations and did not steer us wrong. I love when that happens. I was able to try the Branzino. I thought it was prepared perfectly. Very Vegas Vibe! This is obviously a very popular restaurant. It is located where the mall is at. So no valet for us this time lol. Nonetheless it's in a great location. You are met with two bouncers at the door. Make sure you have reservations. This restaurant gets packed. We sat close to the bar area so the music was very loud but that was the popular area. Entertainment for the night was the fire dancer (only on Saturdays). She was great! Food and drinks was very good. Their Kale salad was delish. We ordered their Ceviche Blanco was different but good. Now, their Brown Butter Cake was absolutely yummy! Our waitress was a sweetheart. She was very helpful with the menu. She made sure we were happy with everything. Toca Madera in Scottsdale was a fantastic experience. Right from the moment you walk in, this place pulls you in and transports you. The decor is really awesome, there's lots of large tables and trees inside the restaurant. If you've ever been to Pump in LA it kindve reminded me of their decor. But a way bigger venue. The bar is stunning it's one continuous slab of quartz. This place does get very crowded so be sure to make a reservation if you can. I ended up sitting at the bar and had an awesome experience. Their cocktails are really nice, and some of them even come with pyrotechnics. I tried the watermelon margarita which had fresh basil in it and was so light and refreshing. You can tell they use good quality and fresh ingredients. For a starter, I got the Mexican Caesar salad which came with pepitas and a zesty vinaigrette. My server Jess had a great suggestion of adding chicken as a protein and she even had the Caesar split into 2 plates for the 2 of us. She gave us excellent service and always anticipated everything we needed to make our dinner spectacular. Some other highlights of the meal were their shishito peppers which came with a delicious sweet and salty Asian-style dipping sauce. These were so addictive and would be great for sharing with the table. I loved their fish taco, the fish was lightly fried and came with a creamy cheese inside. All the dishes went very well together as well. It's mostly a younger crowd here with a lot of energy so just make sure you are prepared to have a great time. There were live performers too which added a whole new element to our dining experience. Highly recommend coming if you are visiting Scottsdale! read more

A great vibe for celebrations and to treat yourself! I came here to celebrate my birthday and loved the atmosphere. They have some great cocktail options to choose from - I ordered the como la flor cocktail which had quite the presentation and was really good! Our table ordered the guac with plantain chips and the shishito peppers as a starter. The plantain chips complemented the toppings on the guac very well and the peppers had a nice flavor. For my entree I got the vegan enchiladas with mushrooms. I was really happy with this option, and I think it's one of the better vegan options on the menu. They also brought out some vegan chocolate cake and ice cream for the table! Came here for a birthday dinner on Saturday with a big group of 8 and the whole experience from when we were seated to when we finished was great! Our server was amazing and she checked up on us several times throughout our visit. A complimentary round of shots was sent our way and it even came with a fiery show. We ordered guacamole as an appetizer and a side of pico de gallo with chips. For dinner, I ordered the pan seared salmon with a side of white rice and a side of the truffle mac and cheese. My cocktail of choice was the agua fresca and whoa was this delicious! It wasn't too strong and it was the right level of sweetness! The dancer came out halfway throughout our meal and put on an exceptional fire show. We had front row seats as were seated at the table right next to where she stands. Overall, we had a great time! This is the one of restaurant you come for a good-ass time. And if you're from a higher cost of living city, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much less you spent here and still had fun. My group came without reservations so the bouncer-type guy at the front told us to get a seat at the bar before it got too busy. And he was right, while all the tables were booked up, we were able to snag 4 seats at the bar. Calamari was a strong starter, but the entrees were nothing to write home to. The drinks were amazing: strong and well curated. Service was too notch. We felt rude asking the bartender if she knew if we could get the table behind us, but she actually ended up going to the hostess to ask on our behalf. Came here for my birthday in October 2025. The food was tasty, and I loved the birthday dessert, they really made me feel celebrated! Unfortunately, the service from our waitress was the main downside. When my cousin's ID wasn't accepted for a drink, no alternative beverage was offered, and the interaction felt rushed. Later, when I asked for a dessert menu, her response and the way it was placed on the table came off passive-aggressive, which was disappointing. Aside from that, the ambiance was lively, energetic, and dimly lit. The music was loud but fun, and there was even a fire entertainer, which was cool to see. So glad to have had an experience of Toca Madera on a bachelorette trip! Booking- Initially, I inquired booking a table of 9 and after being sent a form and told minimum spend per person would be $140, I opted out. However; they still had me scheduled and confirmed week of. I responded to the text "cancel" referring to the reservation and also responded to email that I never confirmed but it was still booked. The manager then replied stating they can waive the minimum without me even mentioning which was great so decided to go with it! Arriving-- we arrived on time and checked in.. there were several parties standing outside and there was a long wait despite reservation. As we stood outside, a hostess came out, called my name and said our table is almost ready. About 10 mins after that, we went inside as people were being seated. The attitude of the slim blonde hostess was confrontational and extremely rude, stating "we called and texted you multiple times and you didn't answer" and our table was given away!! TEN MINS after the other hostess came outside and said we would be seated shortly and we were outside- why are you calling and texting me.. which they called once and I got no texts. She then told me it was bc I "opted out" of texts-- which happened when I tried to respond to cancel the reservation. I told her I did not have multiple of anything and she was argumentative and dismissive, telling us to have a seat. Within minutes, we were seated- thankfully but terrible first impression along with the frigid temps inside the restaurant. I almost walked out but glad I didn't. Dining- the manager sent over a round of shots (seems custom for any party) which they light on fire so that was cool. The table was very uncomfortable, large table that had two benches, straight back, set very far away so uncomfortable seating and not conducive to sit and talk with anyone except the person right next to you.. there are only a few tables like this so I'd imagine other seating is much better as there were tables and booths. However, it was a great location with the fire dancer and guitarist performing right in front of us. Our server was friendly and attentive! I got the passion fruit margarita (delicious) and we had chips and salsa and guacamole.. all flavorful with strong hints of lime which is signature for most of their dishes. I am glad I looked at some pictures of the dishes as reading some of the combinations was off setting when some of the mentions were garnished as opposed to mixed in dish. I shared the sashimi Mexicana which was great and had the petite filet and side of mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked to perfection, savory, and absolutely phenomenal! Others got scallops, the branzino (was huge portion- 2 people didn't even finish), tuna tacos, a salad with salmon, and sashimi mexicana. Everyone was raving about the food! We also had the strawberry tree leches-- pretty good but strawberry filling.. looked better than it was but still delicious. The bride was also brought out a desert. Despite the first impression and experience with hostess , the very uncomfortable seating, and absolutely freezing temps in the restaurant (like blowing 65 degree air all night)-- the food, ambiance, entertainment definitely balance it out. Also used the inkind app and got $85 off! I am looking forward to their opening in Miami! read more

Feel like I've reviewed this before but toca is super solid. Very friendly service, love the bar/lounge area. Prices are expensive but it's worth it. The wagu wontons are amazing. Also the chicken entree dish is to die for. My ex used to get the filet entree and she loved, not that she ever deserved it but... different subject. Margaritas are some of the best in the valley. Had a great time here with friends and the food was good. I ordered the grilled chicken plate with a side of truffle mac and cheese and cilantro lime rice. We ordered a round of guac with chips, and it was delicious. Our table received a free round of shots and they were some delicious tasting shots. Toca Madera is another fan favorite for a reason -- it's always a guaranteed good time! Definitely make reservations in advance, especially on weekends, because it gets busy. The vibe is unmatched: upscale, energetic, and so much fun, especially if you're celebrating something. The food is elevated Mexican cuisine -- flavorful, fresh, and always hits. And the drinks? Top-tier. We never skip the fire shots -- you can get them with tequila or vodka, and they're such a fun, dramatic moment. Perfect for kicking off the night! Fun spot with great ambiance. However the food quality didn't really match the hype. Was also not a fan of how close their 2 top (tables) are to each other. I could hear the table next to me sipping their drink lol. The Wagyu tacos should've been called mini tacos. As they truly are tiny! 1-2 bits tops. And our steak was severely undercooked. I like medium rare and can tolerate rare, however it came out blue. Their brown butter cake however was absolutely outstanding! The service was also phenomenal. Overall I'm glad I experienced it but not sure how soon I would return. read more

If you're looking for upscale Mexican dining with stunning ambiance, this is the spot. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels chic, moody, and full of energy -- the kind of place that makes every dinner feel like a celebration. Such a pretty place! Modern twist on Mexican. Our server was not only super beautiful and friendly but very helpful with menu items. The music was a bit loud but the atmosphere is such a good vibe. Does seem like it gets super busy so a reservation is a good idea. read more

I have two friends visiting from out of town and they don't arrive in phoenix until 10pm, so I made a reservation for 11:15pm. Do they still serve their full menu this late or is their kitchen limited?

Yes, but everything is fancy. No kids menu. So if you don't mind spending $15 for two creative tacos for the kiddos personally better to enjoy it yourself with your spouse or partner.

Never been here before but heard good things. Was thinking of taking my elderly parents here for lunch, but read that music is pretty loud and the vibe is more of a club. Would this be an appropriate place to take them?
I don't think elderly people would like it here, it's very loud and you might struggle with conversation

No more than most Mexican restaurants, but many of the food options don't have gluten. I got the carne asada and prawns with corn tortillas the last time I was there.
