What a great find!! I've been searching for a place like this to kill my Tostitoloco and Mangolata cravings. The Tostitoloco was great and a huge serving for just $5. And to try something new we had the Walnut snowcone with sweet cream. A cool treat with a wonderful walnut flavor. The staff was nice but we came at a busy time and you can tell they were feeling the rush. I give this place 4 stars because all the tables were dirty and the floors could use a mopping. This place is a hidden gem for ice cream and fruit. I usually get a fruit bowl with mango, pineapple, apple & watermelon topped off with cottage cheese and raisins. The only place in my area that I can find a taste of my home - Santa Ana! We ordered the pineapple raspado and a tostiloco. The raspado was way better than expected! Made with real fruit, perfectly shaved ice in a large cup. They carry home made ice cream (ex: mint chip, cookies and cream, etc.) Don't want ice cream? They have fruit salads! You want something more traditional? They have that too! You are vegan? I have never been to an ice cream shop quite like this. While they have all of the standard American flavors, the standouts are definitely the Mexican ice creams you can't get anywhere else. My favorite flavor is mamey. What the heck is mamey? Imagine everything you love about tropical fruits, and mash them together to form MAMEY! I've only previously enjoyed mamey as an aguas fresca, but it is soo good as an ice cream. I also enjoyed the cheese flavor (tastes like cheesecake) and chongos flavor (tastes like milk candy) ice creams. The other must-try item is the mangoneada, which is mango sorbet with chamoy syrup, chili pepper, and chunks of real mango. The chamoy is sweet, sour, spicy, and works so well with the mango sorbet and fruit. Incredible combination. I salivate just thinking about it. The true testament to how much I love this place? I was in Murrieta over the weekend for three days, and I had ice cream here all three days. I filled up my frequent diner's punch card in three days and got a free sundae out of it. YES!!! And prices are so reasonable. A buck something for a scoop, and three something for the mangoneada. If only they would open a store closer to home in LA or Orange County. Good, cheap ice cream! I tried their Diablito which has Mango Ice Cream, Chamoy, and chili on top. It was really good, I could have gotten the Mango Ice Cream by itself and enjoyed it just as much, if not more. They had plenty of flavors to choose from. I'm thinking of trying the Guava Banana flavor next. My total came out to $2.89 and I got a pretty decent amount. For their single scoop of ice cream its about $1 something. I've gone to the Tocumbo in Chula Vista and the customer service was great. The Tocumbo here in Murrieta however, is the complete opposite. VERY RUDE and unprofessional girls working there!!! But their range of ice cream (and other fruit deserts) looked to be excellent. I had the mango (a little watery but good -- better can be had at Cardenas) and coconut (absolutely perfect).
