Walking in reminds me of a cafeteria style, but no food out. You walk down a line and order at the end, they give you a number and you take a seat. The ambiance is fairly mellow, not too loud- but it was fairly busy too with 75% of their tables filled. We opted to share a meal and some apps. The takoyaki was very very saucy. Almost overpowering sauce, but the dough was good. The steamed gyoza tasted like it was fried, but it had a good flavor. The main: tofu katsu curry was the main miss unfortunately. To the tofu was nice and crispy, but was not seasoned and neither was the breading so it was very bland. The curry also seemed watered down and didn't have a strong punch of flavor. As far as service it was good, she was constantly on top of it and cleaning tables.0

I've been visiting this place for 8-9 years, and I moved out of the area a bit ago. A few days ago I had the chance to revisit this place, and was over the moon when I noticed it was still open. It's an incredibly small spot with very little to offer visually, but that never mattered to me. After ordering I was literally salivating thinking about how good the food used to be, as this place was my first exposure to Japanese Katsu and Curry, as well. I'm so pleased to share that the quality has remained just as incredible so many years later. The chicken katsu has the kind of crunch you dream about biting into, with the cuts of chicken wonderfully thick and juicy beneath the layer of crispy goodness. There's a huge bed of rice between the generous portion of katsu, and a little side salad too. It's more than enough to take home and enjoy a second serving. The curry is authentic and nicely sweet if you order it mild like I do, and the combo of flavor is to die for, even all of these years later. Other items on the menu that are reliably good are the teriyaki bowls and the ramen, but I highly recommend stopping in for the katsu. This place has withstood the test of time for good reason. It's not the fanciest meal you'll ever have, but man is it one of the best place to get authentic Japanese food. I'm so happy that it's still around and I hope it remains for many years to come.

Excellent food and great service. 1/17/2024 Today I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with an extra egg for $2.99 and a side of roasted black garlic oil.

Out of all the places around this area that sell chicken Katsu, this has probably the best one. The value of what you get here is amazing. The portion of food that you get is plenty this place has the best chicken Katsu.

Tokyo Cafe is a good casual ramen and curry restaurant in North Las Vegas. This is a small restaurant with only a few tables inside and a high top counter. Soft beverages and boba are served here. Short story - The food is GOOD and portions are generous and prices are low. But it's GOOD but not the best. Longer story- I tried the chicken katsu curry. I thought it was nice that you can pick mild or spicy and I went with spicy. There was a lot that I liked about the plate. You get a double layer of chicken that was fresh made to order and was fried to perfection. They also gave me enough rice to feed a small family. The sauce was good but on the thick side. My husband tried the Tonkatsu Ramen and it was pretty good. He got jammy eggs in it (that aren't marinated) The noodles were prepared nicely but are like spaghetti noodles (not the chewy style that we are used to with ramen) He said that the pork in it was pretty good too. The person working there seemed nice and was efficient. Three stars is a positive review on Yelp and translates to A-OK 3.5 stars

    $5 upcharge?!? Never again

This Was once My favorite Restaurant but I sadly need to take my business to curry zen instead. Detailed description below My wife and I are addicted to Japanese Curry and eat it weekly. Here or Zen Curry I ordered my meal on Grubhub as I have many times in the past. We Always have the same order chicken Katsu spicy 1 / pork katsu spicy 3. Portions are massive. Quality is always decent (Zen Curry better quality) Many times it shows up how we order it with separate spicy 1 & spicy 3 curry containers but occasionally they will send 2 spicy 1 curry's with extra pepper sauce where I can add it to the spicy 1 transform it to a spicy 3 myself. However annoying this may be, this is not the reason why I'm taking my business to curry zen. Today we decided to order just one meal (chicken katsu spicy 1) as if you've ordered here before, the portions they give are massive. 1 order is equivalent to 2 large meals as simply we didn't want that much food. I call in and request that they send the spicy heat that I can mix in myself, like they have in past and they suggest that I get an extra curry spicy 3 which would cost $6 extra. I tell them it isn't necessary and ask for just one pepper sauce for me to mix in at no charge, which we agree upon. The owner decides to raise the price $2.30 without calling me back and telling me and I discover this by an email showing the price has gone up on my end $5. Now typically this wouldn't be enough for me to ban a company but when I called back in explaining to the owner how that made my cost $5 more on Grubhub with delivery and fees he told me to take it up with them. I'm a business owner and I understand how valuable your customers are. I would never allow for $5 to get in the way of my future business with a customer. When I asked him if he would be willing to reverse the charge to retain me as a customer he basically told me he would not. For that I recommend Zen Curry! They have 3 locations across the valley! Their portions are smaller, but their quality is better and I've met the owner personally. He's a quality guy who understands the value of his customers and would never allow $2.30 up charge to ($5 my cost) get in the way of losing the customer to their competitors. *pictured is the $5 upcharge. This may sound petty, but I believe in good business and I live by a principle business owner is going to let you walk out of the door unhappy, walk! ESP when that is only over $2.30 profit for them ($5 loss for you) How much will this $2.30 up charge cost them?!? Only time will tell

We were told to seat ourselves , so we picked a two top by the window. We were handed menu's and the server came back with ice water and asked if we were ready to order. We ordered the fried gyoza (5) and my dining companion ordered shoyu ramen . I ordered my "standard" curry with white rice and pork katsu. The gyoza were crispy and hot. Served on a little tray with a soy based dipping sauce. No plates were provided for the gyoza which is pretty typical, but kind of a negative for me. The ramen was served in a medium size bowl, chocked full of noodles, charshu, etc but no undercooked soft boiled egg. (I think that was extra, but to me I thought eggs used to be standard). My dining companion said the broth was good and the noodles toothsome. My curry came shortly afterward, a decent sized katsu , medium serving of short grain rice and the curry. I usually don't order my curry very spicy and on the scale of 1-10 I usually order 1or 2. Today it was one. The katsu was crispy but still moist in the middle, piping hot. The curry was just thick enough and I I had enough to mix in with the rice after I was done with the katsu. So all in all, pretty good and the price was reasonable and they offer a 10% military discount. Always nice to return for a predictably decent meal
