Normally really good. But waitress seemed bored but polite like when your stuck with a distant relative until your mom gets off work. Usually the large sashimi plate is amazing. This was not. It was still good food but the lackluster service and scaled down Sashimi was a let down. And when we told them it was my wife's birthday a tiny cup came out with whipped cream and a half smile. The service is good and the food is good. Even though it is a little pricey, it's still pretty worth it if you have a sushi craving and money to spend. The ambiance was enjoyable and everything was clean. My taste buds are more on the expensive side of sushi since I'm used to all the nice places in Vegas that import fresh fish, but this place was exactly what I expected :). I don't like comparing places in small towns to huge cities because you can't expect the same quality without having a high ratio of consumers which I highly doubt would happen in Forney. I'm giving five stars because there was nothing to complain about the service. Just because it wasn't memorable doesn't mean that it's something to complain about. As long as they refill my drinks, get my food ordered correctly, and get me what I need when I ask, then that is good service. I'm not paying her for entertainment. I went in with my son 3 years old for some sushi he eats the fried rice normally so it works out for both of us. I decided to go with the hiabachi side because he might enjoy the show. I got the lobster hiabachi I'm not gonna complain about the price because its lobster you know what your paying for. The menu says it feeds two so I was happy cause thought there would leftovers to take home to my wife because my 3 year old gets full fast off the noodles and rice. I had a decent size portion I'm not a big guy but there is no way my portion was big enough for two people. My son literally got maybe 3 spoonfuls of rice and a teacup of noodles. I had to give him some off mine. Which I didn't mind he's my son I'd rather have him full and happy then me. They saw that I was with my little son and decided to give me half a portion of the regular order. I know for a fact they did this because the family across the table ordered 2 haibachi orders for a family of 5 and had a huge amount of leftovers to take home!. I was gonna order another portion for my wife until I saw what they did to me and my portion compared to the family across the table with 2 adults and 3 kids. 2 between ages 6-9 and the other was maybe 1-2 years old don't really count the toddler. I have pictures to prove my portion for my son. He did have a good time and enjoy the show but I'll go somewhere where they don't screw you over on purpose in front of your face. read more

My husband ordered the teriyaki beef last night. The broccoli was under cooked, and very little sauce on the dish. He asked for additional sauce, and was brought a bowl of cold teriyaki sauce to add to his underwhelming plate of food. I had the ahi tower and it was ok. I also ordered a couple of pieces of sushi and was very disappointed. No flavor at all and the rice had the consistency of elmers glue. The evening got worse after we got home. Some of the best teppan I've ever had--and I've had it all over the country. Very large portions. Too large, in fact! Every was very fresh and cooked to perfection. Sometimes teppan can be too oily or too buttery, but our chef was spot on. Flavors were perfect. It was priced typical for teppanyaki but less than Benihana. Steak and shrimp will run you $25-28 plus a couple of bucks more for fried rice. But they comped us fried noodles also. Great atmosphere, good staff. read more

Upscale vibe in your southern charm backyard! My husband and I have dined all over the country and have eaten in many hibachi grill restaurants. Tokyo Harbor is a clear contender. The dark black surfaces and walls enhanced by the blue ambient lighting transport you from the tex mex / BBQ vibe in Forney and make you feel like you're in Dallas. Our hibachi chef was knowledgable and very considerate of our 2 year old, who is a hibachi grill vet, but still timid with the flames. He had her laughing and part of the experience. I visited on my lunch break. The establishment was not busy, yet we still experienced slow service. When the food was finally brought out, it was not what I ordered. Ten minutes later I received teriyaki shrimp (what I did order) that was undercooked and flavorless with sauce poured on top. After expressing that I did not care for the food, the manager (Lydia) got an attitude with me which was not appreciated. I will not be back. Also yucky: miso soup, and honey mustard dressing on a house salad as opposed to the sweet thousand island like dressing that most japanese steakhouse and hibachi restaurants use. read more

Locals to forney. Food has been great. The chefs are wise cracks and entertaining. The reason for the star rating is because of the poor management. Several times we have went, they have been understaffed to serve hibachi. Little communication with waiting and seating staff. We came in on a Sunday evening after a day of Canton. We thought this was close to our friends home, and why not. Didn't want to come back into Mesquite for Kaze, so we tried this place. First, when we walked in, the waitress informed us that they could not seat us at the Hibachi tables without enough people and it could be a 45 minute wait. Excuse me? We are 2 couples....please sit us. The refused. Fine. We sat at a table with out the grill but ordered the Hibachi cooked foods. Here comes second blow: the serve "FRIED ONION SOUP" as the starter? HUH! In all my years, I have always received miso soup. This was chicken broth with an onion ring at the bottom. Nasty, un-Japanese stuff! Then comes our rolls that we ordered. The BASIC California roll was gross. FAKE CRAB MEAT? Really? This isn't a grocery store...this is a restaurant .....please do not sell imitation meat! There was a long wait, though the place was empty (again, a Sunday night) and she said they are having problems cooking our food in the back. I just knew the bad food was coming. When you cook hibachi it is over an extremely hot griddle..and now I am getting something flipped in a pan. Flavor was bland. Nothing great. Shrimps were real......(why not for sushi)? Shrimps good. Chicken dry. Rice ok. I was so mad at myself for not just driving to Mesquite for KamiKaze. Forney residents still don't have a good Japanese place to eat yet....I am sure you will one day. read more

Very basic hibachi food. Not terrible by any means, but not worth the hefty price tag. Meats were bland--cooked only in soy sauce and a little oil. Very disappointing. Noodles were a weird addition and added nothing. Tasted like spaghetti noodles in soy sauce. Very bizarre. The saving grace, however, was our chef. He was very charismatic and entertaining. The best I've seen in a very long time. It was good enough to fulfill my hibachi craving but I don't think that I'll be back. read more

Horrible customer service. Made a reservation and called in for info, hostess working at 8pm on 9/27/19 put me on hold before I could finish my sentence. When she picked back up, she was bluntly rude. I couldn't even get my question out before she said bye and hung up. I remained respectful and still received horrible service. Forney is still growing and the restaurant scene is scarce. Tokyo Harbor is a nice place to get your Habachi fix. Been here many times and is always consistant. Very uninformed wait staff. Talked for about 30 minutes about a food allergy that I had. She went back and forth multiple times asking the cook staff what they could and could not do. Additionally I told her about 6 times what i absolutely could not eat (3 ingredients in sushi that always have gluten in them, so not very hard to remember) Finally I decided on a roll that should not have had anything containing gluten. (as in, it was not listed on the menu) I ate a few pieces and I finally realized that something was wrong. There was gluten in the roll (aka the thing I am allergic to) After specifically making sure that it was gluten free and being informed that it would be prepared gluten free. After asking for the manager, and we were offered a new roll. we were told "I'll get you a new roll and make you gluten free this time". It should have been gluten free in the first place, the thing we spent 30 minutes discussing. We spoke to the manager and we got a very insincere apology. She did not ask what happened, all she said was "I'm sorry and sometimes the chefs put in things to the sushi meet and don't realize it". Not only was the apology horrible, but she did not ask me if I was ok. If i had a peanut allergy, I would have been on the way to the hospital in anaphylactic shock. And if your chefs are completely unaware of what is happening in the kitchen and do not know how to cater to dietary needs then you are not doing your job as a manager and those chefs should not be cooking. I was very disappointed in the wait staff and the manager. Do not recommend. read more

Brought my son here as his choice for getting student of the month as school. Called in advance, was told our name would be put in the list. Arrived, waited an hour, they went to seat us and there were no available seats. Perhaps they should have a hostess that doesn't say you can call in advance, then forget you're waiting for a table, attempt to seat you when the other hostess sat someone in our spot. My son was crushed and we went else where. Glad we didn't eat there, I can't imagine what the service would have been like at a table when attempting to get in was so bad. read more

Went today for lunch had the regular California roll and salmon. However it tasted horrible the sushi tasted as if though it was bad and definitely not fresh. And it's one thing that will make the sushi taste bad its the freshness. I traded in my plate for a teriyaki chicken that was above average that came with a roll of California. They had made a new set and it did taste a whole lot better. However it still wasn't the best sushi I've had. I will still go to Edohana's in Rockwall. But the place was worth a try. My mom had the tempura and hers wasn't even fried all the way it was still whiteish. The price is around $2- $5 more for a roll than most sushi places. Overall this place needs some improvement in the quality of the food. Everything else was great staff, cleanness, environment just not the food quality I expected. P.S. The memoir's of a geisha sushi roll was okay, however it lacked some flavor and by adding ginger, wasabi and soy it was much better. We did hibachi and the cook as okay...kind of boring and acted like he didn't feel good or didn't want to be there. The food was good though. read more

Very good food and hibachi 'show'. There is no reason to drive to Dallas for a hibachi experience when Tokyo Harbor is in your backyard. They have brought another quality food experience to Forney! The reason for only four stars- They were slow to get our utensils and then after the chef was finished, we never saw him again. Another staff brought us our ticket. Seemed strange. So we decided to try out this place again, because the first time we went, we had a little snafu. And let me tell you, if you are reading this and you have never been, you really need to check this place out. When we arrived we were greeted at the door by a very friendly hostess with long brown hair. She was very clean in appearance and never once stopped smiling. She We decided to do the Hibachi but they do give you a choice of dining in lieu of the hibachi. We were seated and our waitress, Sally, greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered the Butterfly kiss and the California rolls as a starter. The Butterfly kiss rolls were amazing. I had had them in other restaurants but this place was by far the best. The Hibachi Chef came out and was very entertaining and very friendly. My wife ordered the steak and shrimp and i elected for the salmon and shrimp. The portion sizes for the rice, noodles and veggies was a lot more then i have had in other Hibachi type places, and more flavor-able. The salmon was excellent and the steak was juicy and cooked to my wife's order. Once the food was cooked, Michelle the manager came out to the table and greeted us and the other people that were at the table with us. She was very friendly and polite, and it was really nice to see the manager going around to each table to make sure her customers were taken care of and happy. After our meal we elected to try the flavored cold sake. We got the green apple sake and was very good. Over all i would say this place blew away my expectations for a Hibachi grill. We will definitely be going back to try out the dining menu. Sally was a very good and polite server who never let our drinks get empty and was always around to make sure we didn't need anything. Michelle thanked us for coming back and even when we left, the really nice hostesses asked how everything was and thanked us as well. Most places when you leave, they never really say anything. So bottom line, as far as Hibachi restaurants go, and me and my wife have been to many, Tokyo Harbor is on the top of the list. read more

Not the best place to get orders to go, not sure about dinning in. I ordered 5 orders and two of them were wrong. I almost got charged $5 extra for my order and one of them is completely wrong, i even ask the waitress and she assured me that is what she put in. So instead a cut roll i ordered i got two pieces of sushi instead. My husband ordered the shrimp tempera instead he got tempera rolls. The sushi was not the best I had either since i just moved here from California, compare to the sushi in California, this place is not even on the list. The manager is ok, not very smiley. But gave a 2 star for the nice waitress smile and no attitude were given. I would not be back here. Maybe next time will try a different one. read more

Got there and stood waiting for a hostess for about 10 minutes before getting acknowledged and then once seated had a waitress come to the table next to us several times but never even looked our way once. We sat for about 20 minutes and decided we had enough appalling service and we should never have to beg for good service so we left. Good sushi and habachi. Really good value especially at lunch. Our office is down the street and we eat here at least once a week. When it first opened the sushi was pretty hit or miss, but they' worked the kinks out and consistently deliver good food. The design inside was very nice and modern. There was a long wait for our table. We were told 20 minutes and ended up being 45. There were empty tables available but was never seated. The hostess went back and forth several times after she took our name and every time she came back she asked the name and how many in our party as if we just walked in the door. When we were seated at our booth the table and booth were wet as if it was sprayed and never wiped. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, he did take our order wrong and gave a 20% discount on one roll. The food was really great. What rubbed me the wrong way is that they cut their portions and kept the prices the same. The salmon roll was the same diameter as a nickel... I have never seen rolls that small. The prices are way too high for the small portions. I will never go back for that reason, everything I could have looked over. read more
