Ordered a chicken hibachi plate with a side of spring rolls and drove 25 minutes to the restaurant to get my food. When I got home I realized they put shrimp in my food, I am allergic to shrimp and clearly didn't ask for them. They agreed to remake the entree over but I had to drive another 25 minutes back up there then they told me I couldn't keep my first entree because although I am allergic my wife and kids are not. I would have to pay for both to keep both the manager said. I asked for any form of compensation and they provided with nothing even though they messed up my first order, made me miss my lunch, waste my gas and I get nothing but cold rice, cold spring rolls, and wack entree! My husband and mother in law took our 2 year old for her first hibachi experience. What a mistake. First, they sat a group of 8 next to us, when there was only 7 chairs. So they asked my family to get up and move to another table. The table they sat us at was in the corner, next to some cleaning equipment, broken chairs, and a dirty bucket. Once our meal was being prepared, I quickly noticed that all the smoke was being funneled directly at me and my two year old. I asked the cook if the fan was on and he demonstrated that it was by turning it off (which had no effect on the plume of smoke), and said the smoke goes into the room because of a draft. Great. So they knowingly sat a toddler and 9 month pregnant woman in the worst ventilated section of the restaurant. We asked to talk to the manager and she said she had no clue that was ever a problem. To remedy the situation, they gave us a 20$ gift card. We will not be back. This is a fairly new place in Forney so I had to try it out. They are very responsive on their Facebook page. It was New Years Eve so I posted on their wall to make sure they were open the regular hours and they were. When you walk in the place is very well designed and feels more upscale than the strip mall location and cartoonish exterior sign present. Then you go looking for the restroom and see the paper restroom signs taped to the slate tile wall! Since I was by myself I went to the sushi side of the restaurant and sat at the bar. Normally this fits well because bartenders will usually stir conversation to increase tips, but the bartender on my side of the bar was so busy with table orders that she couldn't do that. Her service was excellent though. I ordered a bottle beer and edamame to start my meal. I followed this with two sushi rolls. Anytime I go to a new sushi place I order a California Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. I figure these are some of the most common rolls so they are easy to compare across the board. Tokyo Harbor's rolls were not to par. The tuna in the roll was mushy and almost like a ground fish texture. The California roll was a little better with better tasting ingredients. We have eaten here regularly since this placed opened, but recently my wife developed a soy allergy after some health issues. She still loves to eat sushi, but we have to be particularly careful about the crab stick which is in almost every roll everywhere because some have soy and some don't. We know things we have to avoid like sauces and soy paper. I called to ask about their crab stick prior to placing an order, and who I Assume was a manager got on the phone and said it shouldn't, but she couldn't know without looking at the package. I asked if she would mind looking for us. She proceeded to tell me that they were busy and to call back. It is a shame that it seems they are so busy they don't care about keeping loyal customers or obviously about their customers well being. Customer service has gone out the window these days and apparently this place is not any different. Will not be trying to return... ever!!! read more

Wow what can I say. The hibachi was awesome. Had the Shrimp and Scallop. Sauces were tangy and spot on. Sushi being thenCalifornia roll was a little dry and boring, but the flavors of the Hibachi by chef Su really was the best. Thick shrimp and good sized scallops. This place was WAY more entertaining than any hibachi place I've ever been to! Plus, the food was great. For starters, we ordered the fried calamari, potstickers (both steamed and fried) and edamame. The calamari batter was great... flavorful but not too heavy. For hibachi, we had the filet chicken and shrimp. It was all delicious. Went here to brain storm and thought I was having a good lunch. Wrong I ordered my food and as soon as I ordered 10 minutes later was given the ticket to pay. I noticed white couples eating and enjoying their meal. At this time the waiter I had whom I was assigned came to tell me We are closed , I looked and said am I going to get my food she said yes but we are closed. As the couple I took the photo of was sat and unbothered They were brought their ticket and given a fortune cookie 2 of them I called for my waiter by name( remember she had already brought me the ticket) she ignored me and continued to walk away, until another server who was further away from me than the waiter i had called her name. I know the waiter I had heard me, because she turned around right away and said 'Yes' I asked my waiter if I could have a cookie she stated "no we don't have any there is candy at the front."(as she continued to stand in the spot that she had stopped when the other waiter called her name who was standing in front of her, she pointed at the front door) I paid and wrote a note As I got up to leave the other customers were still enjoying refills talking and not RUSHED I will not be going back And I don't need a cookie to know my future : I won't be back!!! Holy moly i had high hopes bc I've been here before but damn. I'm not sure if they're under staffed or our waiter was just focused on something else but he couldn't keep up. It took him 2 actual hours for him to give me a drink i asked for at the beginning. I got up probably three times to remind him and another three times at the table, at this point i was about ready to walk out. Didn't bring my appetizer. He did look busy most of the time but as a customer my needs weren't met majority of the time. At the end another lady got up and gave us all to go boxes bc he wasn't paying attention. We came for a birthday and didn't even want to tell them bc there were so many. It was loud banging literally every 3-5 minutes which brought high anxiety. My daughter never received her ice cream at the end and walked out crying. We were very disappointed with our experience. Sad to say but i won't be coming back for hibachi any time soon. I didn't get a chance to eat, that's because when my family and I showed up to Tokyo Harbor at 2:45 we were RUDLEY informed that they close at 2:45. We were just in town visiting other family, and we were unaware that they close early. Nothing wrong with the closing early, a lot of restaurants do that, but it's the way the management and service went about telling us. Their tone, attitude, and saying that they closed early along with the chef had just left the kitchen. That is what rubbed me the wrong way and I did not like it. And then as I was gathering my family to walk out the manager walked to the front to the light switch and starts flickering the lights on and off multiple times to tell the customers that it's time to leave as well. So, I will most likely not be back at this location. The food could be great BUT service, attitude, and management SPEAKS LOUDLY. Went back 10/4 and some of it was better. California roll and thin sashimi was still there. Still had great presentation on the sashimi though. I am writing this to expound on two new pieces of sushi that the chef made. The house roll and their albacore sashimi. They are great. Best place around (now) for sushi in Forney/Kaufman/Terrell. The house roll had generous amounts of fresh fish. It did come with a pricier tag though at $14 for 5 pieces. Ouch. More fish comes at a cost. It is on the two rolls for $21.95 menu though. Rainbow roll was a great deal, as was the albacore sashimi. Service this time was lacking though, so it seems that it's hit or miss although we've only been twice so far. read more

Best Hibachi Restaurant I have been to in a minute!!! This is in Forney. I suggest making a reservation 24 hours in advance. We did a walk-in and then had to change our number and had to wait longer than originally planned. It was worth it! I got a combo plate of filet mignon and chicken. $26.95 + tax. You get the entertainment of a traditional hibachi chef, but the sides and options were plentiful and everybody took a large container of leftovers home. You can also order from the menu. They check allergies before they started cooking. Each Hibachi guest got soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, your entree(s), your choice of steamed or fried rice, lo mein and mixed vegetables. I wanna go now! I have already told several people and can't wait to go again. Just remember, get a reservation or be prepared to wait up to an hour for walk-ins. read more

We always come for the Hibachi! If you can have James as your chef then it's a double treat! He is an excellent Hibachi master and extremely funny. The food hits the spot! Decided to give this place one more try a year later and to no surprise, placed a pickup order and received the wrong food. 2/3 sushi orders were wrong. For $16 a roll they could at least give you the correct food. The sushi we did get was mediocre quality and not worth near the price. Hibachi filet tasted like brown gravy and was over cooked well past medium rare. Again, Thai Square is down the street. They have much better sushi and hibachi, plus Thai options. read more

It actually became a joke at the table how many times the two servers walked by us, waiting on every other table BUT ours. I suggested leaving, but one of my sons (he's 18) got up and walked over to one of the servers and asked to order. Got drinks fast at least and second round free (or in error?). Sushi was terrible...came in starving and hardly ate...low quality. Fantastic cuisine! Adequately priced, in accordance with other hibachi restaurants. Highly recommend sitting in hibachi area, as the chefs are fun to interact with. Ask for James when possible--all chefs food is delicious, but his touch is expert! Scallops are spot on if you like seafood. Sushi always good and fresh, too. Only complaint with this place is if something is wrong with your order, you better specify during the experience; otherwise management gets real ticked off at you for not bringing it to their attention. This review is for the hibachi portion of the restaurant, although our group did get some accompanying sushi with the meal. Food 3/5: Thankfully, it's easy to compare Tokyo Harbor with all the numerous hibachi restaurants in the metroplex. Everything (the salad, soup, meat, veggies, fried rice) was good, but not better than what you can get at Kaze in Mesquite -- not to mention the prices seem around 20% higher. About the only thing better was the water (yeah, the water). The sushi was probably the most disappointing thing, the rice on my salmon sushi was dry and the fish was at room temperature. Atmosphere 4/5: I have to say the most impressive part of it all was how you no longer feel like you are in Forney once you were inside. Everything looks upscale, dark and modern. Service 3/5: For the setting, there was nothing wrong or amazing about the service. I would definitively come back, because it's not a bad restaurant at all and it sometimes beats driving all the way closer to Dallas just for a meal (which we do a lot). It is pricier than Kaze, but know you're paying more for the atmosphere, not better food. For a safe bet, I'd still rather go to Kaze. Side note: I have heard stories from someone who works there of the managers being unfriendly and unkind to the staff and employees who are terrified of them.
