This fills a void we have in Arcadia - authentic Japanese curry! We had the beef curry (med spicy), pork belly curry (med spicy) and the hayashi rice. The wait was a quick 10 minutes at 6:30pm on a Friday evening, but I'm sure that'll change when people catch onto this place. The curry is complex, which deep earthy spice notes and a slight sweetness that Japanese curry often has. Both our dishes were medium spicy, and I'd say that was an accurate heat level. The beef was very tender but short of falling apart if you look at it wrong. The pork belly held together more and was a little on the leaner side. The hayashi rice is a favorite of mine and not enough people know what it is. It's a dish with thinly sliced fatty beef (think gyydon or beef bowl like Yoshinoya) cooked in a rich demi glace sauce. It's sweet, savory, and slightly acidic. All of our dishes came with miso soup and a salad. The portions were great. The employees were friendly and attentive. We got the chicken and beef curry at a medium spiciness and my goodness it was very hard to eat since it is closer to the 6/10 in spiciness. Almost like habanero. There is a strange little pickled onion in the curry and it is more sour than you would expect and have a spiciness to it too. The curry base was delicious and the rice is good. Salad dressing is different from anything I have had, seems like yuzu base. Miso soup is on the salty side and has a different than other miso soups I have had. Meat in the curry are tender and tasty. Pricing is in the middle to middle high for what these dishes normally costs. Wait staff is attentive. I think this is more of a 3.5 stars, but since it is soft opening it is probably something of training staff and honing down on any feedback. read more

Got the pork katsu curry. At $24 it's definitely pricey for what it is, but the portion is generous and it comes with salad and miso soup. For $4 more they have an XL size, but they were sold out when I went. The standard size is very filling I was absolutely stuffed. Was hoping the XL would be good to split half for another meal later. I got medium spicy curry and it was not spicy at all, so I'll definitely level up next time. The katsu was thick and crispy. Curry was very rich in flavors. Overall a good meal. This restaurant just opened a few months ago. It's located at the Nordstrom end of the outdoor promenade area. I usually park in the covered structure downstairs and take the escalator up. We ordered a side of fried boneless chicken kaarage as well as the pork katsu curry rice and pork belly curry rice. Both main dishes come with a side of miso soup and salad. The chicken kaarage came with three decent sized pieces with dipping sauce.. the chicken is really tender. The salad has a light citrusy dressing. Pork katsu was crispy on the outside and the pork loin was a pretty thick cut. The pork belly melts in your mouth because it's so soft. Sauce tastes pretty typical of Japanese curry. Friendly attentive staff. Someone mentioned they don't serve water? Maybe it's changed since, but we got two glasses of hot water in these fancy double walled bodum glass cups which I was scared would break some we've cracked a few at home lol read more

We went on Saturday when they just opened at 11:30. There's only 5 tables. By 11:45 all the tables are filled and only bar seats left. When we left at 12:15 there's a small line waiting outside. So definitely try to come early. We ordered pork katsu and pork belly. Both came out amazing. We also added 3pcs kaaarage and it was awesome too. The meal came with miso soup with was quite flavorful. The salad was also pretty fresh. Very good portion. The boys finished the food but girls all had a bit of leftover. Overall 5 stars for the food. Service was great. Very friendly and attentive. They came to refill water a few times and will help take our trash and empty bowl when time permits. We were delighted to get the 20% discount for soft opening. The only downside I see is that the store appears to be still under construction or something. The ac was a portable one connected from outside with paper taped as wall. It didn't affect the dining experience though. I hope they add more tables because there's clearly space available. I've walked by this little spot when coming to the mall and it always smells so amazing! Today I went in with my husband because they have Japans Premium Malt. Pretty hard to find anywhere. It was very refreshing. And even though we had breakfast already, we had to at least try an appetizer, so we got the Chicken Karaage. The spicy mayo is so delicious and just by looking at it you can tell that it's made with fresh ingredients and I love that. The chicken was also very juicy and 3 pieces were perfect for us because they're generous portions. The service was good. The staff were friendly and attentive. Prob one of the best curries in the area. And the hayashi rice was perfectly sweet and savory. Mild wasn't as spicy as we thought it would be so if you like spicy, I would go a spice level up. Was excited for this place to finally open. The food was good but this place is on the pricier side for a beef gyudon bowl and curry. There was only 1 server when we were there and the owner was clearly sitting there eating with friends. We waited a bit but the server was nice. Everything was fine but the owner was so rude after we had paid. We waited for boxes to go and while waiting, my friends and I were catching up but then the owner got rude with us and told us that we needed to leave because people were waiting. I understand that people wait to eat but I've worked in restaurants and have never pushed paying customers to leave. Especially not in such a rude, crass way. There's a way to ask politely and let customers know why. But he was just straight up rude. That whole experience left a sour taste and we won't be back.
