Great meal for my best friends bday dinner. We each ordered filet, which was cooked to perfection! They serve along side a spicy teriyaki sauce (I usually find a good steak doesn't need to be dressed up but) it is awesome for dipping anything! I like the idea that the food is freshly prepared and I felt I had a healthy meal. But the chef does not season the food so it's very bland. Also, the first thing he prepares sits there getting cold while he prepares the next item, which sits there getting cold waiting for the meat to get done. The service was very good and the chef was great! We did not get any dipping sauces with our meal but noticed others did so that would really be my only complaint. Worst dining experience of my life. I was seated at the Teppan grill with the wife and my parents, then we were forced to wait 45-grueling minutes for the chef to arrive. It was Friday and the place was busy. The chef finally arrived, fumbling and stumbling thru the presentation. I almost felt sorry for the guy. He couldn't seem to do anything right, and had as much personality as a toilet seat. Our party of four was seated next to another party of four as is customary, which was fine with everyone. Everyone was ravenous. The chef served chicken to my wife who had ordered beef, and served beef to the lady next to her when she had ordered chicken. He slopped rice and vegetables everywhere as he worked. We complained to the drink server who remarked our chef had received numerous complaints and she was astounded he hadn't yet been fired. She promised to speak to the owner and apologized to use profusely. A few minutes later the owner arrived with the chef in-tow and berated him in front of everyone. Precisely how NOT to handle the situation. This place is embarrassing. Don't waste your time or money folks. Never again! They really should remodel the place anyway. I live right across the street from Tokyo Steak House. I've been a little curious and that is what made me go in. Immediately the service from one lady in particular was not pleasant. The lady sat in the front as hostesses I assume, with a young man. It took me a while to order food. All the prices were sky high $$16+. I ended up ordering some appetizers. It took a long time. In the mean time the lady started talking to me about black people. How the ladies always change their hair and spend lots of money on nails and purses. She told me " they don't like to save money ,you guys, spend a lot of money. "...... And on And on with racist stereotypical comments. UNBELIEVABLE !Food was OK, appetizers are filling. We love this place. Come here all the time. My kids really enjoy it too and the staff is very friendly. Most of the cooks are skillful with their show and the food is fantastic. Food was okay. Steak was tough and chewy but decent. Everything else was stellar. You win some you lose some. My issue was with the servers. Full disclosure, we walked in the door at 2 and they close at 230. I get it, trust me I do but you close at two so why should I expect service to be any different than coming right at opening time. That said, our waitress was extremely rude. She was very short and in the beginning I couldn't hold it against her. It is what it is. We order as fast as we can and say please and thank you often. Well when it's time to go she asks the people at the other end of the table (hibachi) if they are separate or together. She leaves without asking us. So the next time I see her she has the checks and I ask of ours can be split. She literally rolls her eyes. I'm not even kidding or exaggerating. She rolled her eyes and sighed. Goes to her manager and obviously complains. Then the manager comes (obviously expecting a problem) and says we will split it. Well why didn't she ask us like the ladies on the other end if we were same check or not. Never mind our meals are roughly 13 bucks different. This is a hibachi style Japaneses restaurant similar to Benihana's. The food ratings below are 1-10, 10 being amazing. Chicken Steak Combo with salad, soup, grilled shrimp, and veggies ($21) Salad (5) Basic Japaneses salad, but I like the dressing on these salads. Miso soup (3) Basic miso soup, nothing special at all. Grilled Shrimp (6) This is where I start to have an issue with hibachi restaurants. Everything they put on that grill is the same and they just season it with salt and pepper. There are no complex sauces and if the meat is poor quality, then there is not much with regards to food. The shrimp, however, was actually pretty good. Simple, but good. Chicken (2) Very basic and it didn't look that fresh when it came out on the grill. Steak (1) Same as the chicken, but it was less tender. Up there with one of the worst steaks I have had. Veggies (5) I like grilled veggies and these were good. Nothing special, though. Egg fried rice (7) $2 supplement I really liked this one. I liked the combo of the taste of the dish and the theatrics of making it. The chef was able to flip the egg a few times on the spatula before breaking it on the grill. Drinks (8) $5-$6 each The mai tai was blended well and strong. Just how I like it. The pina colada was blended well and I like the coconut serving container. The sake martini was just plain strong, not my fav. Theatrics I don't go to Benihana's very much because of the food quality, but the grill theatrics was better here than I can remember at Benihana's. The chef flamed up the grill to start, flipped the eggs a few times, flipped the salt shaker into his hat, did the onion volcano, flipped the rice cup from the spatula to his hand, and even made half the shrimp appetizer disappear when a young girl sitting at the table asked for more. A combo of the show and drinks is why I come to hibachi restaurants and I thought they did it well, but the food quality was pretty sad. I would go back, more for the drinks. They had a couple other cool ones. They also serve sushi and they had a wall of famous visitors... in Lancaster, get out of here.
