    Steak Shrimp and fried rice
    Nick C.

My son who graduated wanted teppanyaki. Lancaster I believe only has 2 Teppanyaki spots and they are both Tokyo Steak. Well... I did a little research on Tokyo Steak to see what others were enjoying. In my opinion it's not much. I dont ever go to teppanyaki places. Last one I been to was Bennihana so I guess that's the standard. Unfortunately Tokyo Steak falls short. The Pros. The staff was friendly and for the most part attentive. The beer was cold. The Cons. I have to agree with others in saying the place is outdated. Not too much but it would be nice to see a fresh look here. Decor is nice but just need to be slightly refreshed. The chef, well they were nice. It just felt lack luster in effort trying to entertain. It wasn't sloppy it was more so less enthusiastic. Still nice though. The food. Well Im gonna be honest. I have better food at more casual even consider fast restaurants. This includes both quality, taste and execution. The sushi bar was closed so no sushi. I was a bit sad but in hindsight it was a blessing in disguise. The fried rice lacked flavor. Steak is cooked in teriyaki and lacked flavor and overall quality. The shrimp was mediocre. Salty was the only flavor profile. Veggies same. Salty and lacked depth. Tempura was okay. Edamame was okay. The food is prepared starting with the rice first then the proteins then the veggies. I think the veggies could be cooked along side the proteins. So that it all comes out at the same time. Oh well. Overall the food was meh, lacked depth, and was either just salty or tossed in a basic teriyaki. The price. After everything was said an done. A few beers, fountain drinks, 4 appetizers and dinner for 6 adults and a chile was $430 which included tip. Was it worth it? Probably not. I wouldnt recommend tokyo steak. However I do think all this could be easily turned around. Some upgrades to the decor. Change some of the recipes so that each protein is unique. And add less salt / soy to the fried rice. And lastly stop using margarine on the proteins and rice. Its literally just adding more oil.

Tried Tokyo Steak for the first time today with some coworkers. The chef was interactive and made conversation throughout the experience, which made it fun and welcoming. The food was good and overall I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a nice first visit!

Came to Tokyo steakhouse for my twins birthday wanted them to see an actual teppanyaki, and I thought they would get a kick out of the show which they did. It was very entertaining. The food was ok but when I was most impressed by was the fried rice that they made at that restaurant I don't know what they do to it, but it's the best fried rice I've ever tasted and I'd hate rice. Everything else that we got the surf and turf and scallops and everything else potstickers and tempura. I will get the rice and that's it if I ever go back here or if I ever come back here. The surface was OK we had reservation so we didn't have to wait long. The restaurant looks OK. I don't know if the steakhouse is in Tokyo look like this but if they do at least I know what or be familiar with the look.

Great food and great experience! I really enjoyed the food but also the experience the chef provided. He was super kind and seemed to really enjoy his job:) I forgot to take pics of the food bc it was so good but here's a pic of their Lunch menu as of 6/2025

Host, server, and chefs were very nice and accommodating to our requests. Parking was easy but I highly recommend parking as close a possible to the restaurant and away from the other establishment at the other end of the strip mall. The place is a little dated but once we were seated and started interacting with the staff, you kind of forget about the exterior or interior and just enjoy the quick show. The serving was on the bigger side. Our party of 6 each had a to go box at the end of our meals. We tried everything between the steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and squid. I probably would stick to the steak and scallops next time, just a personal preference. The fried rice was really tasty, I'm glad our chef gave us plenty. The Lover's Potion drink was pretty strong, I couldn't finish mine! But that's not a bad thing :). The only other similar place is in Palmdale so if you don't feel like making the trek across town, this is a good establishment to visit.

I think they may want to consider raising their prices to afford some upkeep on their premises, as it is aging. I ran across this place because it happened to be in the same parking lot as my primary destination, and I was pleasantly surprised. I have visited Benihanas before and this place had the same general vibe, but I had a better experience here than any Benihana I've been to. I had the NY steak entree which comes which a choice of soup (I had miso), a small salad, grilled shrimp appetizer, and I upgrade my steamed rice to fried rice for a few bucks. I also had the tempura banana with ice cream desert. I arrived alone. Having never been here I was impressed by the little pond and waterfall with stream and koi fish. The whole building had an air of what was once a premium setting but had succumbed to age and poor maintenence. I see potential here, but it would require a heavy financial investment at this time to repair and clean. I was sat with a group of a couple family's that had just returned from a beach trip. They were all very polite and nice, but the smell of coconut sunscreen became a feature of my dining experience. The cook put on a bit of a spectacle, lighting onions on fire and flipping food around. All of the food tasted good, not amazing, but I have no complaints. It was well worth the very reasonable price. The stand out part of my meal was the simple tempuraed banana with ice cream desert - I may return just for this!

Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to what we remembered. Being given plastic utensils while dining in was surprising, especially at this price point.

You can pick your own seats, and you get your own drinks, which I like because the soft drinks are sometimes charged extra in other places. The variety of drinks were also pretty impressive with rasbperry/blueberry juice to horchata/jamaica agua frescas, to hot tea or coffee, or sodas and lemonades. I picked out some of the hot food items mostly and grabbed seafood items. Sadly, the salmon and the sea bass to me were very salty and put me off from getting it again. I was told that the fish is usually much better, so maybe it was an off day unfortunately, but it was pretty salty to where you'd get worried of your blood pressure. Anyways, I was able to enjoy their hot soups (which were nice and flavorful) and other foods like chicken wings, orange chicken, steak, etc and found them very pleasant. The desserts area was super nice and I got myself a complimentary ice cream from their freezer. *senior discounts given, but you must have ID no matter what *Hibachi grill with chef in back *sushi and seafood Pretty straightforward and didn't have any problems dining here!!!

If you're lucky enough to get Nathan as your chef, you're in for an amazing meal and an even better experience. Benihana needs more chefs like Nathan and Tommy too!

Another year, another birthday dinner at Benihana, which is pretty much the only time I come here…read more This year I actually got two BD deals. First was through their traditional (phased-out) Chef's Table Loyalty program--$30 off after an initial $30 spend (weekday dinner only, not including alcohol). Second was through their new Friends with Benefits Loyalty program--$50 off (no specifics on dinner or alcohol). Benihana is now part of The One Group that includes other restaurants like STK and Kona Grill where you can also earn points/rewards. I've seen the Benihana teppanyaki "show", and once is enough. It's best enjoyed with a group large enough to fill up an entire table, otherwise you are grouped with others. And the wait for a chef can be long depending on how many are working at that time and the number of tables occupied. Benihana food is mediocre at best, far from authentic, and quite pricey for what you get--without the BD offer, there is no value, although they do have some specials and a Happy Hour menu. For the past few years, we've avoided the teppanyaki tables and go to the sushi bar/lounge, which has bar seating and high and low-top tables. Here's where you can do Happy Hour, Lounge menu, or the regular menu without the show and less of a wait. I noticed in the interim between my 2 visits, the menu prices increased! The Happy Hour menu is not included with the BD offer, so I usually order sushi/sashimi. This year I tried a few noodle dishes. Although there is a sushi bar, I don't think it has traditional seating nor a dedicated sushi chef. Frankly, when I've ordered sushi/sashimi in the past, it was pretty much like supermarket sushi, often haphazardly cut, as if a butter knife was used. I ordered the Spicy Crispy Rice app both visits--6 pieces of crispy rice topped with tuna, yellowtail and salmon and jalapeno slices. The fish are indistinguishable from each other, the black pepper soy sauce cloying, and some of the rice crisped to burnt. I did two noodle dishes--shrimp yakisoba and seafood diablo (scallops, calamari and shrimp with udon in a spicy sauce). Both came with onion soup, salad, steamed rice and sauteed veggies (zucchini and onions). The shrimp yakisoba was decent, although the shrimp were smallish and probably frozen. I asked for less spice on the seafood diablo, but it still packed a punch. The shrimp were the same, the scallops were quartered but tasted like scallops. The calamari, however, were large hacked-up pieces with a texture like a faux seafood item a vegan would order (texturized vegetable protein). There were no tentacle pieces. There were a lot of yellow bell peppers plus some mushrooms and frozen corn. I do like the Benihana Lemonades, available in 4 flavours, refills included. Overall a slightly better and less depressing experience compared to years past. A HUGE shout out to my server for both visits, Alaast, who is actually one of Benihana's supervisors. She was also the hostess my second time, and the bartender and lounge server both times, and seemingly a back waiter at the teppanyaki tables as needed. Service in the lounge in the past has ranged from meh to non-existent, so Alaast is a great asset. I may try Happy Hour here one day, although it's hard to beat the HH at Cheesecake Factory next door.
