Went yesterday for my birthday and I thought it was a lot of fun. Even though the parking lot was full I was pleased at how quickly we got seated. Chef was great and kept my friends and I entertained and even sang Happy Birthday to me. Only downside which wasn't terrible but the drinks barely got me buzzed and wasn't strong enough also bathroom floor was very sticky so might wanna keep up with that. Makes me sad to leave this review. We used to love this place and came here for many special occasions. But all of our recent trips have been a complete let down. We visited this week and were devastated. We were 1 of 2 tables in the place - a total of 5 guests. The 3 times the waitress came to our table, we had to beckon her (like we were bothering her). We had nothing to drink for most of the meal. We ordered a sushi roll and we were half done our meal and it hadn't come. I finally got the attention of the waitress (hiding in the kitchen) and asked her where it was. Oh, the sushi chef should be here in about 20 minutes. Well at this point the "chef" was already making the rice at this point. Please cancel the sushi. Mediocre food at best. Terrible show. My first and last visit to Tokyo Steak House. We waited over an hour for the cook to show up and this was after we were seated. The Cook was getting high in his truck while on his break when we showed up to the parking lot, he was nice but inexperienced and stated several times how much he hates his job, he was slow to cook everything, and we ate the food one selection at a time with long gaps in between. We asked for the steak to be medium rare, and it came out tough and well done and under seasoned. The restaurant is dirty and in desperate need of a remodel. Pros: Okay, so food quality is great! The show is one of the best I've seen, comparable to Benihana. Plenty of parking. But why 3 stars? Cons: First, service was pretty bad. Not our cook, but everything prior. Being seated, and getting our order taken. We had two waiters in training...they took our orders. Then another person brought out our food. We saw people getting sushi and I literally had to get up and wait for someone to hand me a sushi menu, your order it separately, no one had informed us.There was a large party and they were understaffed is what we were told. This one complaint made the meal less enjoyable. It was terribly hot inside the restaurant, even prior to the cooking part. They had several fans running all around so I am unsure if AC was running. We go here often and the meals are generally good but after this visit we will not be coming again. They apparently had someone new training and the food was horrible. He had the heat up too high and overcooked the entire meal to the point that everything was burned on the outside including the filet, shrimp and scallops. The filet was ordered medium rare but ended up burned on the outside and raw on the inside. He tried to fix it by cooking it more but then dried out the steak and tried to fix it again by adding butter. Everything was very oily but especially the fried rice. For dinner its startihg at about $16 and can reach about $30. Add an additional $2.50 on for fried rice. All meals are served with soup, salad and vegetables. Service was a little slow to start, once seated we were told our server would be with us soon. We waited close to 10 minutes for her to take our drink orders. Then more time to get our food orders. So expect waiting once your seated. The meal was entertaining. Our chef was friendly, a bit corny when he turned our onions into a volcano and lit it on fire. You are served a lot of vegetables. I mean a lot. Mostly broccoli, which I dont eat. I wish it was served with more onions. The chicken and noodle mixture was just okay. Lacked a little flavor. I've always had a good time here with the family. For the first time, it took over an hour for a chef to come and cook for us. The wife is pregnant and she was feeling weak. Another party walked in after us and they got served cooked for first. Our waiter just got the first round of drinks and that's it. Then when someone at our table which we didn't know asked for sauce, he made a noice indicating he was annoyed of the request. I'm a big tipper, bcuz I believe in the hard work the food industry/ servers do. But after the first initial drink and no refills, for the first time one my life, I have left a zero tip. And it hurts me to do so. But I was with my pregnant wife, and 5 year old daughter. We cannot experience this again. My wife said she rather drive over an hour to the nearest Benihana's to eat. The fried rice was burnt, but the rest of the food tasted good. I recognized the chef looked like the owner. He tried. No show really. He was rushed to cook.
