I came here looking to have a nice Sunday dinner with the family and we were very disappointed. We were originally told the waiting time would be 25 minutes which sounded very reasonable, however things turned out very wrong. We were seated at our table and we noticed there was a lot of trash under the seat, I'm talking about napkins, forks, and a lot of trash. One of the servers came and took our drink order, we were told they were short staffed and they were very busy, so we assumed a long wait time and so I ordered two sushi rolls when they brought the drinks over. After they brought the drinks, we waited for OVER AN HOUR and nobody came to check in on us, the table across from us arrived there after us and they had the cook come and grill up their food and were finished and we still had not received our sushi (appetizer). I asked one of the waitresses if they had any idea on how much long we would have to wait for the cook and she said she had no idea but she would check, I told her we had ordered some sushi and she said she would check in on it, she brought it right away which indicated that it was just sitting there because it was cold. We ate our sushi roll, however we did not received the second roll, at this point I decided to leave with my family. I told the waitress that I was leaving and if she could go ahead and bring my check for the drinks and sushi I consumed but to cancel the other sushi roll and the rest of the food. She said "ok" and then brought out the roll and a to go box. I waited for the check and never got it, perhaps for about 5 minutes. I got up and went to the counter to try and get my check, I waited for about another 10 minutes and then finally got it, which turned to be $50+ and it seemed like a lot. I'm not sure if they overpriced the items I consumed but I know I won't be coming back. The couple that was also seating at our table got up and left, they were also very unhappy. This review will be short as my trip there. 1st we came on February 19th at 5:50 pm we're there we're two hostesses behind the counter. They talked about their tips and just left. His expertise is amazing and outstanding, he just said he just started which I believe is cap because it looked like he knew what he was doing. Ask this chef anything he will make it. I asked him to make me a whopper and he did it was like I went to Burger King and got one there but better. His hand movements and knowledge of cooking is just like or even better of the of chef Gordon Ramsay himself. We made the mistake of coming with a white guy who's a long time friend and we only got service over an hour later. He ruined the quality service for everybody. The family with the 2 toddlers left because it took so long but the man was a gentleman and still gave the worker a tip. We will not be back. It's very sad to write this as I've come here almost my entire life. The food was awful to say the least, our chef tried his best but definitely needs some culinary training, not just in house training making food for the staff. They over charged us, told us they would fix the bill and when I expressed my concerns over their price increases and quality of food decreases they came back with a bottle of wine and a $10 gift card AND NEVER FIXED THE CHECK! Man...this one stings to rate. I love this place. I've been coming to Tokyo Steak for a long long time. The food is great. The service, up until this point, had been top notch. Then today happened. We went there with a party of 9 (2 checks), for my son's birthday (3 cars, different households). The waitress was...very new, maybe. No matter though, let's slow down a bit. It's all good. Sadly, however much we slowed down, it just didn't seem to click with her. Missing the drink for the most important person of the night, the 9 year old birthday boy (it was Sprite) with multiple reminders was the start. I can handle that. Whatever. The chef was lethargic most of the time, but made the attempt. I can handle that. He tried. People have bad days. Whatever. The food was good. Not great, but good and good here is REALLY good. All of this would have been fine, but then the (presumed) owner chases my parents out to the middle of the exit road accusing them of not signing the receipt. She is shouting my name, and naturally my dad points to me and is in a hurry because, hey...it's the middle of the lane out of the parking lot! He drives off. It is getting weird.... She turns and comes to me saying I didn't sign! She has her presumed partner/husband/manager with her in tow, chasing us down (?) I'm puzzled. I said I signed the receipt. She then says well just sign this one. She had a receipt and pen in her hand in the parking lot as if she caught a dine and dash table red handed. I said no, let's go to the table. I just felt wrong about the whole encounter, and in hindsight, could say I felt accused. And it felt dirty. We went inside, found the receipt within 2 seconds. It was wrapped around the (their) pen. Unorthodox sure, but something I do to prevent the receipt from being LOST! Never had an issue until now. There are two locations. I will continue to eat at the other. Same owners, different owners...who knows? My family and I love the food and experience, and 1 out of hundred or so times I've eaten here, it was bad enough for me to write a review. I don't review (a separate discussion), but I felt compelled to this time. I've spent thousands of dollars over 20 years in this place to be made to feel unwelcome and criminal. I will never come back to the Palmdale location. If you want any hint of judgement cast your direction, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, for a good time, Lancaster is your spot. I was craving hibachi so I found this place to eat with my family . I didn't really like it . I got the teriyaki Steak which was chewy full of fat & the vegetables were hard. It wasn't a great hibachi experience. Also MOST hibachi steakhouses have a signature sauce called Yum yum which they did not have . Tokyo Steak is the wrong name for this restaurant...Tokyo Heaven is more accurate!! I went with an entire volleyball team, and the steak, sushi, chicken, shrimp, and everything else was just divine. We're never going to Benihana again - I'd sit in 4 hours of LA traffic just to get to Tokyo Steak if I had to! When you walk into the welcoming, family-feeling environment, you know you're about to have a great meal and an incredible experience. Our chef was just masterful - more like an artist than chef. The cooking, jokes, and show were all just amazing. We were all busting out laughing at a few of the jokes, how do they come up with these?! We felt right at home at Tokyo Steak, and the team had a blast. The server was able to handle everything we needed to perfection, and you can't miss all those pictures of the famous people who were smart enough to hit up the best restaurant in Antelope Valley! The food was just on a whole different level. I thought I cooked with flavor, but WOW was our food delicious: perfectly cooked, juicy, and great portion sizes. This was perfect for a large group to have a fun meal and make memories. I would totally bring my girlfriend here for a super fun date, but she's already a regular! We were lucky enough to meet the owners on our way out, and they are just some incredibly kind people who really care about their customers. First off this used to be my favorite restaurant to go to in Palmdale/lancaster. However I went yesterday, and the food has taken a downhill on quality, shrimp are not fresh, they are white which tells me they are processed and frozen, scallops were not good, veggies were gross and the complimentary soup and salad were microscopic. Also the butter the butter is not even garlic which is what every Tepan restaurant uses. And to top it off they are more expensive now. Was the worst experience ever at this restaurant. read more

We went there with August 6 with a party of five for a birthday dinner. We did not have a reservation. However, when we walked in there were several empty hibachi tables with no one at the sushi bar. We were seated immediately. We noticed that the place was not clean. On the way to the table there was a storage room open as you walked by that had a bunch of cans and chemicals and electrical cords and equipment and basic junk spewing out into the walkway. The table itself had a crevice where two pieces of wood butted up against each other that was full of a build up of crumbs and Grease. We all moved a bit to the right, so my son did not have to sit in the mess. Two of the people in my party ordered cocktails. They were absolutely awful. They were like straight alcohol with a splash of mixer, and did not taste good at all An additional two people were seated at our table, and our "chef" came over. We should've known something was up when the bus boy started clapping in the background and congratulating him. We later came to realize this was probably his first actual attempt at cooking. We learned through conversation that he was 19 years old and although he was a very nice young man and I have nothing against him personally, he had no idea what he was doing with the grill. Each type of item was all served one at a time. My steak was cold by the time the scallops were done. He forgot about even making the rice and vegetables until all of our meat and seafood was already cold then and tried to cram them in at the end and ended up serving the vegetables pretty much raw. He did not perform any of the normal tricks and antics that make this type of dining appealing. Generally, with hibachi style dining, the chef is a talented person who can keep your table entertained. This was not that. The only thing he did was make a volcano, which is something basic I can do at home. It was $250 before tip for four adults and one child. For mediocre, cold food and no table show. I reached out to the restaurant on the following business day to let them know I was displeased. I did not want to make a scene the night of because as I said we were there for someone's birthday. I did not want the experience to be further marred by voicing nour displeasure. The young lady I spoke with on the phone was very nice. But I was told the owners or management would call me back within a short time, and I never heard from anyone. I would not recommend this restaurant. Primarily because of a cleanliness issue and also because the cost to value ratio is very poor. read more

Food and service are always great. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is due to the fact that the manger or owner doesn't give the tips to the ones who deserve it. Waiters and waitresses have told me they never get the tips that are left on the tables. I always hand the tips directly to the one who served me without the greedy manager knowing. We recently took a trip to visit family, and it was a nice change of pace from Los Angeles. This was my first time ever going here, but was a family favorite of my best friend's since he was child. They have partially re-opened their indoor dining area and offer the teppanyaki show/meal, their revolving sushi bar was not available. You could tell that this was an older establishment, and it had that very comfy used atmosphere like and old sofa. The meal that was ordered, had its usual flair.... and our cook was very talented and entertaining. The portions were large in which some food had to be taken home (surviving the three hour drive back the food was still great...it was a long road trip....ugh). I am sure once all Covid-19 restrictions are gone, they will be up an running at a 5-Star quality again. My friend had such great memories of this place. This is the only restaurant I frequent for sushi. Particularly the spicy tuna hand roll and ask them to add avocado. I come so often that The Toyota's know me, and without me calling in to order they already know what I'm there to get! Whenever I go to Tokyo Steak I usually enjoy myself but, I'm VERY disappointed in my visit tonight. Tonight my family and I came a little late because I had to work so we got there about 8. After my family and the other couple at our table ordered, the chef got started with the show cooking our food until about 8:25. We got our food about 8:45 after the show was done. My family of 5 and the couple at our table were still enjoying our food when 9 came around. As soon as it hit 9:10 the owner started turning everything off, and shut down the TV! Around 9:15 he started turning all the lights off and only left the lights on where our table was! My family and I had just spent almost $150 in this restaurant for us to feel like they were basically kicking us out!!!!! As a good tipper, to the chef, one of the owner, the brother ( fat one ) he charged me 15% again for the tip, so effectively the tip came to 45% of the bill. For 75$ definitely not worth it. Our fried rice was burned, the veggies were small and there was no flavor in the food. My husband got the steak dinner and I got the chicken and shrimp. The service was terrible, nobody communicated with us while the people that arrived after us got their food completly cooked before ours was even started. The chef showed up after an hour and complaining twice. They threw us 8 egg rolls for our party of 9 to try and make up for it. They never even kept the drinks flowing during our wait. The chef didn't put on a show at all, probably because he was new and slow. The steak was too tough to eat, so most of us didn't finish eating.
