Sam's Fried Ice Cream came up on my social media feed as a must try fried ice cream shop in the Lower East Side. It's a small store front location, but roomy enough for 7 people to enter. There are some high top stools if you would like to sit inside to wait. It's a 3-step process in ordering the fried ice cream: Step 1-choose your flavor (It's ONLY vanilla for me...I know. Don't judge me people) Step 2-choose your crust (I chose Frosted Flakes) (breadcrumbs with no xtra cost ; however, Frosted Flakes, Oreo, and Fruity Pebbles are an additional $1 Step 3-choose your topping (I chose powdered sugar) The other toppings were: Caramel or chocolate syrup, condensed milk, powdered sugar, or you may choose from one of the following toppings for an additional $1. (Reese's Pieces, M&M, whipped cream, fruity pebbles, sprinkles, or Oreos) It took less than 3 minutes for the ice cream to cook. It was very hard to break through the topping with a plastic spoon once it was done. I had to let the ice-cream thaw a bit before I could finally get to the ice cream. It was crunchy and sweet. I thought it looked better than it tasted. Maybe next time I will try it with the fruity pebbles as my crust. I'll give this 3/5 Till we eat again...
As someone who loves fried ice-cream, I was so delighted to find this place. It's cool that the fried ice-creams are made to order right in front of you. First, you select the flavor of ice-cream. I had the green tea ice-cream. Then, you select the crust. I decided to go with the regular bread crumbs crust. Last, is the toppings, and I kept it simple with the chocolate syrup. The whole thing was very good. I also tried the fried oreos which I recommend.

I've had Sam's on my list of places to visit for quite some time, but the hours of operation (3pm open) and the location are not as easy to get to. I finally made it this past weekend and I was not disappointed. Got to try the vanilla tempura with Oreo crumbs as well as the cookies and cream with Oreo crumbs,.... Can you tell there is an Oreo fixation? Haha. Even though it was fried, it wasn't oily and it was pretty evenly coated with the Oreo crumb. It takes a bit to prepare but the wait was reasonable and the service was friendly. Sam's is definitely worth the effort, although I wish the hours of operation included open hours a little earlier in the day but I'll make it back again someday. Pro tip for Yelpers, make sure you sign in for the checkin offer of fried Oreos.

But I was pleasantly surprised with wacky dessert. I chose to go a little simple; vanilla coated in Frosted Flakes and topped with caramel sauce. Just plain tasty and satisfied my sweet tooth. The ice cream was a little hard, understandable cause it has to withstand being fried, but I still wish it was a little softer. The breading was a touch on the too thick side too. Outside of those nit-picky issues, I was very pleased and will be recommending to friends!

Sometimes I eat something so tasty that the Chris Carter C'mon Man meme comes to my mind. Like, "C'mon man. R U serious? This is just too good." Sam's Fried Ice Cream was one of these times. Jesus Christ was this good. I would go out of my way to get back there. I day dream about it. Ok, so let me try to describe what was so good. The ice cream was in a ball. I guess that doesn't really matter, but I thought it was a cool shape. Ok ok, I'll get on with it. We got cookies n cream ice cream with corn flakes on the outside. So yeah, that outer fried shell had corn flakes incorporated into it. Which gave it a really nice additional crispy texture. Plus the flavor somehow worked. Anyway, there was also just the perfect contrast. In many different ways. The hot of the fried exterior and the cold of the ice cream inside. The ratio of fried stuff to actual ice cream. When I looked at it at first I was worried that it'd just be a thin layer of fried stuff on the outside and not enough ice cream, but it was actually a pretty thick layer, and each bite I took felt like it had the right amount of fried stuff to ice cream. Maybe 2 parts ice cream to 1 part fried stuff. And then I felt like there was the right amount of corn flakes too. It was just so good. You really have to try it. Oh, and it came with fried oreos. You know it was good when perfectly executed fried oreos are an afterthought.

The place is practicing covid-safety by allowing one group inside at a time which was ok for us. Anyway, they make your order fresh so still have to wait for them.
The staff are friendly, the owners are welcoming and the ice cream is awesome. It comes with different toppings and ice cream flavors that you can add on top and the crust is really nice and crunchy. My boyfriend and I have been to this location and the various other stands at the flea markets and food festivals. It's always been great and never had a bad experience. Totally recommend it for anyone who likes fried Ice cream.
didn't get to visit the Orchard Street location, but I did have the pleasure of trying Sam's Fried Ice Cream at their booth in the Queens Night Market this summer and it was a life-changing experience. I ordered the fried strawberry cheesecake ice cream, and to this day, I still can't wrap my head around how ice cream can be fried and stay cold inside. But somehow, Sam's has perfected it. The outside was warm, golden, and crunchy, while the inside stayed cold, creamy, and rich. When you get that perfect bite that mixes the fried "skin" with the ice cream, it's pure bliss. And the flavor? Next level. The strawberry cheesecake ice cream came with chunks of cheesecake crust swirled in, which added even more texture and flavor. I loved every single bite. Now that I've had a taste, I absolutely need to make a trip to the actual shop to experience this joy again. If you've never had fried ice cream before, Sam's will change your life. read more
I'm so sad to hear this place closed! This was such a great find and I can't believe I'm so late to trying this. I got there right before closing and enjoyed a fried ice cream which was delicious. I hope they open another spot somewhere because I would definitely bookmark it and visit! read more
needed something sweet to balance out the cheesy salty fluffy pizza slices from Scarr's Nextdoor. The Fried Ice cream was a great portion, great crunch and really fried! I got the Cookie Monster ice cream + Fruity Pebbles Crust + Chocolate Syrup & Whipped Cream toppings and it was sooooo good, just what I wanted! My BF got the Vanilla ice cream + Oreo crust + condensed milk topping and it was just right for him, not too sweet like mine was. Nothing became soggy bc of the mix of ice cream and fried mess. Everything mostly intact and loved every bite. Would definitely be back! read more

Sam's will always have my heart because their ice cream is so good and I am happy to support them with their delicious and tasty snacks. Always with the fast service and I great pop in and pop out place. The ambiance reflects that, in and out with minimal seating. Tasty as ever though. read more

Tried at the Korean festival in LIC, the staff were great, very organized and the fastest moving line. I thought it was okay- the banana pudding, it was overly sweet for me. It was good, just not worth the price for me. read more

Nearby ice cream spot when I was in the area. This company is also at the queens night market but I didn't get to try it there. The shop was quite small and smelled like fried bread. I ordered a fried cookie monster with bread crumbs and condensed milk. Cookie monster is a mix of cookies & cream and birthday cake. It was around $7-8. It was quite heavy but satisfied my sweet tooth. The outer warm crunchy layer + inner cold ice cream is something you should try once in your life. Why not try it here? read more
I got to have fried ice cream at a food truck with a reduced menu. It was good. Service was efficient and they provided silverware upon request. Very hard working staff having sold out of all flavors except vanilla and cookies and creme out of 5 flavors by the end of the day at the convention. Tried this after having dinner nearby. For ~$7 you get your pick of ice cream flavor (we went with blueberry cheesecake), rolled in Frosted Flakes (extra 50c to upgrade from bread crumbs), fried and drenched in powdered sugar and caramel sauce. When I say it's the best thing I've ever tasted, I mean it. I have a serious sweet tooth and this satisfied every one. We also got 2 free fried Oreos for checking in on Yelp. It's a low-key spot and I'm so happy it survived the pandemic! I've been here a few times before 2020 and I had been meaning to come back for the longest! Their fried Oreos are A1 and you can customize your ice cream and milkshakes. I made a weird fruity pebbles caramel concoction I don't recommend mixing, but the fact I have the choice to mix it up is cool. There really is no place to sit but there is a spot by the window to stand and eat (it's a small spot). I love this place, I'll always come back here. read more
This was my first time trying fried ice cream and it was exactly as I expected. Not in a bad way though! Each order of fried ice cream starts at $7-- $7 is pricey for a scoop of ice cream, but the portions are huge. I got the blueberry cheesecake with oreo crust for 50 cents extra. The ice cream itself was pretty solid on its own. It wasn't too sweet and had nice ribbons of blueberry throughout. I can't speak for the default bread crumb crust but I enjoyed the oreo crust! The fried batter was mildly sweet. This place is good but the quality could be a little better. The entire place smelled like burnt oil and the burnt taste carried over to the batter a little bit. read more

Walking through Chinatown I looked over and spied a little place called Sam's Fried Ice-cream. I walked around a bit juggling my decision of whether or not to try it, but my curiosity got the best of me. This ice cream is superb. Choose your flavor, then the covering and the syrup. I never thought I would try fried ice cream but while I was at Brooklyn night market I decided to treat myself. I went with the cookies and cream & was pleasantly surprised with the flavors. The dough is similar to funnel cake and the ice cream was still completely frozen inside. They also give a huge portion that I couldn't finish myself. This is definitely a unique way to get your dessert and I'm here for it! read more

The dough is still hot and definitely better than fried ice cream you'd get at a hibachi type restaurant or summer festival. Overall it's a nice dessert choice but it's definitely on the pricey side as they've raised their prices often over the past few years. Fried ice cream is the best ice cream! I usually get fried ice cream from a sushi restaurant but I figured why not try a place that specialized in it? I got the regular breading and green tea with powdered sugar sprinkled on top of it. The ice cream was rock solid despite being deep fried and the exterior was a perfectly golden brown. You get what you pay for because this ball of ice cream is huge! I will definitely be back to try some of their other flavors. Also don't forget to check in for your free fried oreos! read more

Best fried ice cream and honestly some of the best dessert I've ever had! We found this place by searching for a late night dessert spot open. We decided to try out Sam's fried ice cream. You can customize based on what you prefer. I got strawberry cheesecake ice cream with Frosted Flakes as the topping and powdered sugar on top. It's made fresh in front of you and comes our hot and crispy on the outside and soft and cold from the ice cream on the inside. It was such a unique dessert choice and really delicious! read more
