Eugene 5 stars! Service is great and food is amazing! You order at the front counter and choose your own seat after. They bring the food out to you and utensils are already on the table. Easy set up and lots of options on the menu from ramen, rice plates, drinks, and appetizers. We got the jajameyoung (black bean noodles), spicy katsu ramen, chicken karaage appetizer, red bean smoothie, and Thai tea. Jajameyoung sauce was very comforting. Savory, umami, and had a good amount of pork. Ramen is also homemade which makes it all the better. The katsu was the star though! Crispy and juicy, 100% would recommend getting something katsu if you are here! The red bean smoothie tasted like a red bean milkshake, which I loved, but it was very icy. Thai tea was okay.

A decent place to get Korean and Japanese style food. It was a cold night and we stopped by to get some Japanese Ramen. There were a bunch of choices, but we ordered the kimchi Ramen and the King Ramen. All were pretty good, but I had better since I live in an area that has tons of Ramen places. If you are looking for good Ramen for the Eugene area, I do recommend this place. Service is excellence and the chefs care on presentation. Ramen came out really hot, which is very important.

Looks like a quaint family run ramen shop in downtown Eugene. Pretty large menu board with good variety of ramen choices (plus other Japanese items but no black garlic ramen). Tall ceilings, modern decor, sort of an open kitchen & friendly attentive service. Value-wise, a pretty good deal for ramen when compared to other noodle places. Ramen bowls ranged from $11 to $15 for a large amount of food. We ordered the King ramen (a bowl that included chicken karaage & cha shu pork) in a miso broth. Flavors were OK but the chicken & pork were meh and a bit too much bean sprouts. We also had the pork katsu ramen in shio broth. The pork cutlet was crispy and large, though again, a little too many bean sprouts. For the money, definitely worth a revisit when in downtown Eugene.

Looking for ramen in Eugene, OR? I'll shoyu the way... ...to Tokyo Tonkatsu! I was recommended this spot by a friend and finally checked it out last weekend. It's a small mom and pop ramen shop, and they had a handful of ramen and other dishes to choose from. I was pleasantly surprised to find a few Korean dishes on the menu -- tteokbokki, bulgogi, and jajangmeon. I tried their "King Ramen" with shoyu broth. I was impressed by the massive bowl of delicious broth, fresh noodles, and variety of toppings. I highly recommend if you want a little bit of everything because the King was just that! The prices were on par for a bowl of ramen ($14-16), and honestly you get your bang for your buck -- these bowls are loaded.The restaurant is relatively small in and of itself so keep that mind if you have a larger group. You order at the register first, then it's first-come first-serve seating. The service was attentive and kind, despite arriving sorta close to closing time. FYI the restaurant is located in downtown Eugene so it's mostly street parking. I'll defs be returning and I hope to see ya there!

This spot is a good place if you're in need of some traditional ramen. I've been here a few times and the food has always been consistent. You get the option to choose your broth and spicy levels making the ramen pretty customizable. There is other stuff on the menu but I would stick to the ramen, we tried the rice cakes one time and they were fine but not as good as the soup and noodle dishes. The staff is always really nice and the owners always come out to check in on your dinning experience. The restaurant offers a decent amount of seating and is pretty clean.

It's such an interesting setup! Order at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring you amazing ramen. Is it sit-down or fast food? The parking is a royal pain, but the taro bubble tea is very good, and I loved the tonkotsu ramen - the mix of pork, ginger, bamboo shoots, egg, ramen noodles, and lemongrass makes for a good tasting ramen. Service is very good, but not a lot of ambiance, and it's a bit small, so it can get crowded quickly. But it's a great place that has a mix of ramen, bubble tea, bulgogi (I saw someone order bulgogi), gyoza (again, I saw someone order it), katsu, karaage....it's a great mix.

Overall rating: 3.75 stars Food: 3.5 stars Service & Ambiance: 4.0 Cleanliness: 4.0 I was feeling in a Japanese comfort food mood for dinner and this was walking distance from where I was staying, plus the reviews were very positive, so I decided to check it out. Casual dining, no table service, other than your food brought to your table. Huge signage on the wall near the cashier or you can look at the menus on the counter. Place your order, pay, get a number and take a seat. I ordered the katsu-don (tonkatsu donburi)...I was really looking forward to a hot bowl of rice, breaded cutlet with scrambled eggs & onions cooked easy over the top, comfort food. My rice bowl was served quickly, but I was shocked to see how it was served---basically high and dry over 'slightly wet' rice, barely any egg and onion. Seems like some broth was a the bottom of the rice bowl. Usually the scrambled onions & eggs are served over the bowl of rice and then the cutlet placed on top. You should be able to taste the sweetness of the mirin & soy sauce, but not in this case. I guess it was my mistake to order a rice bowl, as most everyone is raving about their ramen on Yelp! and most of the patrons I saw, ordered ramen. I'll definitely give them another try, but I'll stick with ordering ramen.

So, prices are tempting here. But I'd stay away from their char siu pork, as it tasted more like deli meat, and you got one thin slice in the entire soup... HOWEVER, the pork katsu in the miso ramen broth was on point. The potstickers were okay, I wish it came with more than 4 in one order. It was a bit slow even though there were a lot of folks in the kitchen, but thankfully we weren't in a huge rush. Overall, it's alright ramen, and we'll probably be back when we need to scratch that itch.

We've been sleeping on this ramen spot for too long! We tried the tonkotsu and spicy katsu ramen this time and they were great. The chicken in particular was fried perfectly - a great crisp on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. We can't wait to go back and try more on the menu!

I was excited to see black noodles on the menu and they did not disappoint! My husband had katsu ramen and loved it as well. It's in a nice location with street parking and the inside was decorated nicely. We were greeted right away and the gentleman that took our order was very pleasant and helpful. Ok first off the Katsu is absolutely AMAZING. And trust me I've had katsu from so many places. (I'm from Seattle) I Tried it for the first time over the Fourth of July and I will DEFINITELY be coming here as my new spot, the katsu is so crispy and crunchy with the perfect moist softness on the inside. I've only ever gotten it as take out - so I don't know what it's like sitting inside but the times I've been in to grab my food the people are so nice and the man in the kitchen (I'm assuming one of the owners) is beyond the sweetest thing ever and so nice. I will recommend this place to anyone looking for a good katsu and I'll be going here myself all the time now! read more

Came here on a whim yesterday afternoon and was met with a delicious meal! Service was comfortable and welcoming, as well with a calming environment to enjoy my food. If you come to visit, you can't skip out on the katsu and ramen! I was obsessed with the unique breading of the katsu and the rich tasting broth of the ramen. Being new to the Eugene area, I am trying out all the restaurants. Was excited for the Tonkatsu Ramen. Very disappointing. Lots of green onions and lemongrass on top, too stiff to eat and overpowering the flavor. Broth not very rich and slight lemon flavor. One slice of pork, was expecting some pork belly. Not a lot of seasoning. Very friendly and quick service. read more

I went here again on a less busy night. Service was fast and the food was delicious (I got black bean noodles with tofu). The first time I went, the food was pretty good, but they were packed and disorganized and I took away a less positive impression of the ordering and seating system. But if you go on a chill night, it's definitely worth it. The food is really tasty and homemade. Reasonable prices for the quality of food. Lots of vegetarian options. read more

I tried going the night before but they had run out of ramen noodles. I took that as a good sign. So I went back the next night and ordered the spicy katsu ramen. And waited. And waited. And waited. Service was very slow which gave me time to nitpick the place. (Not as clean as I'd like but the staff was very friendly to everyone.) Once my spicy katsu came it looked amazing. Smelled amazing. But only tasted fine. I was hoping for a more spicy, more robust miso broth but it was a bit lackluster. Not bad but just not much to it. With that said, the noodles were fresh as were the veggies. I would have given it an honest 2.5 stars had it not been for the katsu chicken...which was flawless. Perfectly seasoned, breaded and cooked. It was the one thing that really made the meal worth writing a review. Most likely I would go back to give it another try or two. However, I was just traveling through town...so instead I'll be generous with my recommendation. read more

I had chicken teriyaki plate, was okay chicken was over cooked. But the salad and soup were tasty. My husband had the pork tonkatsu and said it's something he would order again. My daughter had tonkatsu ramen it was a little spicy , but one of her favorites! Goyza was good but they didn't include any dipping sauce. Portions were average . read more

Wow, I am a longtime fan of Toshi's and randomly wanted to try something new. This place is incredible. Granted I am a honky and have never been to Japan so I can't speak to authenticity, but wow us it ever good. For sure go for the king ramen, and don't skip the fried chicken appetizer. Best of all the Japanese mom and pop that run the place have been incredibly polite each time I visit. The first time I went I tried to bus my own table and the guy straight wouldn't let me - talk about service! They always say hi and wave from the kitchen and seem to really appreciate your presence. What can I say, I'm a sucker for old-school service like that I attached a picture of the King ramen. read more

I've been wanting to try this shop for ages and I finally went in and I will be a frequent visitor from now on! The broth is flavorful, the noodles are springy and the katsu itself is to die for. The katsu is evenly fried ensuring a crunch with every bite! And as you enjoy your ramen the katsu will soak up the delicious broth. While it may lose a bit of it's crunch it is a delicious combo! So much so that I found myself setting some katsu aside to soak in the broth. The staff are friendly and warmly send you off when you complete your meal. 10/10 food and experience. read more

I have driven by this place a million times and never thought to try it. But then came the colder weather and my ramen obsessions became strong... I'm so glad I tried it! You MUST get the King ramen. It has everything you need with a little spicy kick from the Kim chi. I've gotten it twice this week :) the 2nd time with no bean sprouts because I'm not a fan but this place is definitely worth trying! Note: (They do not serve alcohol of any kind so I feel like it's definitely more of a lunch break spot.) read more

I appreciate that they have a lot of vegetarian options and they try to make a vegetarian friendly, but really this place probably is best for your meat eating friend. There to dubbokki were Ok, not the best I've ever had. The kimchi Ramen was Pretty good. The tofu Katsu, as pictured here, was really the stand out. It really is the closest thing to vegetarian fried chicken I've ever had and a memorable dining experience. I feel like I wanted a little bit more in the way of condiments- I am used to that Korean restaurants , but this place is Korean /Japanese so maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree? I'll together I will try to again. Also I love that there was an entire table in the very clean bathroom. read more

I wish I had checked with Yelp photos first, taken note of what dishes others have had, enjoyed and had a clearer understanding of ingredients. I only say this as I'm new to the restaurant, ramen soups and menu- was just winging it :) Ended up with a dish I wasn't a fan of, but looking forward to trying other items. Hubby and son loved their dishes ~ portions were great, flavors comforting and yummy! The restaurant has nicely spaced tables, clean, attractive and calm atmosphere. Loved the different table designs and staff was really great. We were there late afternoon, not busy at that time. Curious how it would be when a rush happens with having to order first, then sit. Note: When you order, write a tip in when paying or come with some cash to leave at table. They do greet you, serve you and clear tables. Very kind as well. read more

The best in Oregon!!! Softest tastiest tonkatsu I had in my life. My comfort food is here also and it is the best I ever had away from Hawaii like jajangmyeon and tteokbokki! This is a gem in Oregon and our new favorite spot! Service is family friendly and is run by a nice family! read more

This place has decent selection of food. The Chicken Katsu and Karaage is pretty fire. I like to get the meal that comes with rice, chicken katsu/karaage, and ramen- best of three worlds. Staff are all super kind. Take out took about 20 minutes. read more

We were excited to try this place for lunch and the menu looks quite good. However, given the prices we were a bit disappointed in the serving sizes. Both our dishes were really lacking much in the way of veg - basically just some fried meat, starch (rice/noodles), sauce and the odd bit of seaweed or a couple beans. On top of this, the food is quite salty. Can't say we would return any time soon. Oh well. read more

My son had a hankering for some ramen... For days he would be hinting at me to go with him here to have some. One day we both had the day off so we decided to go have lunch. We ordered the Tokyo ramen with miso and the Ddukbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes). The Ddukbokki was kind of meh... it was not as spicy and the rice cakes were sort of just chewy and no flavor cooked into the cakes unless you cover it with the sauce. However, the ramen was really good. Only complaint was I would ask for less or no bean sprouts, because they just over power everything with taste and texture. The broth was flavorful and the karaage was really good. The chasu was a bit chewy and didn't have much flavor. The staff, who I assume were the owners were extremely friendly and helpful in when choosing the right options for ramen. So if you have a hankering for ramen, would definitely recommend this place. read more

This is one of my favorite spots! Love sitting at one of the stools, looking out the window while enjoying a bowl of ramen or a perfectly fried katsu. Also, the music they play adds to the above vibe. We've had better Ramen back home in SoCal. Service was good. You order your food first and find your own table. I read reviews about bad service but what were you expecting from a small Ma'&Pop restaurant, ain't no one going to roll a red carpet. Prices were a bit on the high end, but this is Eugene and there isn't much or any competition for Korean restaurants here. I eat here at least twice a week. I live right above this restaurant and it's the perfect place for a quick meal. The service is good and the staff are really kind and attentive. Good comes out quick and is prepared right behind the counter so you can see that it is fresh. You can call and put in an order to pick up and it'll be ready in 10 minutes. Right now they have a deal going that if you order literally ANYTHING on their food menu between 4 and 8pm, you get a free beer! I've only tried one flavor of their bubble tea and wasn't terribly thrilled with it but o also didn't know what flavor I ordered (I wanted it to be a surprise) so their other favors might be better. It's a really homely atmosphere- They take their time to really let you know you are welcome. The happy hour deals are awesome: Twice a day, 3-5 & 9 to closing.
