I am a little behind in this review, but here it is. Where do I begin? I came here for the first time a month ago, based on the amazing reviews for Tom and the salon -- I came for a cut with Tom himself, and highlights with Courtney. My experience was amazing, and I was there again today for a shape up trim and gloss to tone out some brassiness from the lovely L.A. sunshine. First off, Tom is SOO friendly (British, obviously), the salon has a very warm feel to it (none of the pretentious Hollywood/Beverly Hills BS - which can be fun from time to time, but is annoying in a salon environment) and Courtney is so sweet and fun! This place is seriously a gem among the Beverly Hills & L.A. salon world, and I am a client for life. Their assistant, Jess, is also amazing and sweet and attentive - and gives the best scalp massage!! The Cut: Tom is, simply put, incredible. Precision, point cutting, flawless artistry (I'm trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about in "hair talk"). My hair looks perfect when I walk out, even with no product in it -- and I am a self proclaimed product whore. :D Just incredible work, I can't really say it any other way. The reviews obviously speak for themselves, oh Zoomy ones. The Color: Courtney is equally talented in her artistry. My highlights came out the EXACTTTTTT color I pictured (which almost never happens, EVER!), and she takes her time without being slow. Sun-kissed and natural, which is currently the look I was going for. Again, just awesome. AND super sweet! The salon: Simplistic, white bright and gorgeous. Perfect, in my view, for a salon. I've worked in high-end, stuffy salons when I was in my early 20's - F* that noise; nobody wants a dimly lit salon with lighting in which you can barely see the color you just placed in your hair. Like a needle in a haystack, the Tom Brophy Salon sits amongst the many salons located in Beverly Hills. However, unlike other Beverly Hills Salons I found this place a delight, friendly and unpretentious in manner. Before my visit, I imagined the worse the snobby receptionist, the rude and stuck up stylists you get the scene.....HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff at Tom Brophy was so friendly! The owner Tom Brophy was quite charming as he came up to introduce himself..... a rarity these days with salon owners. I REALLY LIKE THIS GUY....British no wonder, very polite, charming, pip pip cheerio and all that.... I was referred as a client for the BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT treatment with Michelle. I was so impressed in the consultation with Michelle, WOW... her knowledge about the Brazilian Blowout, she explained the dynamics of the treatment and how it worked on color treated hair. I made an appointment a few weeks later for the Brazilian Blowout and color. She also suggested I have a a haircut to trim the dry ends, but I could not afford to do all 3 services in one visit. I left the salon with shiny smooth hair, I LOVED it, so I decided to return a few weeks later for a haircut with Rex. My haircut with Rex made me feel GREAT, he gave me a contemporary cut I could work with. I must say I am truly happy to discover this GEM of a place...a DIAMOND in the rough amongst all the snobby, pretentious Beverly Hills Salons. read more

I first want to say THANK YOU again to Zoe for transforming my look and taking my hair to an entire new level. I had long hair down to my mid-back when I came in and while it was beautiful, I was looking to take a daring risk towards something more modern and edgy. Zoe absolutely helped me take the leap! When I walked in, the only thing that I was clear on was that I wanted it drastically shorter than it was. Her vision totally made this possible! I walked out with a cut that fit my face shape, desired statement, and I felt free of my long hair! She definitely knows hair - her talent, expertise, and creativity all make her more than trustworthy. Another thing is that she is super gracious and helping me make use of new styles while I endure the growing-out process. I am going back to her soon to amp it up again! I'm actually super interested in this "hair solution" that was posted on 01/21 (see review below). Tom is truly one of the greatest stylists ever. I was introduced to him by my sister when i first moved to Los Angeles. She has been following Tom from top Bev Hills Salon to top Bev Hills Salon since the early 1990's. She would not trust anyone else to do her hair. (and now her daughter's) I do what I always do when i move to a new city...i try all the people that are recommended. After two years of salon and stylist jumping i too can go to no one else to have my hair cut. He is just the best! Tom opened his own salon just over a year ago (taking over the space of Bravo's "Blow Out".) The Salon is the exact opposite of what you would expect from a Bev Hills Salon. It is quiet, intimate and completely unpretentious...just like Tom. I also go to Tom's colorist, Davin. The amount of people who ask me where i get hair colored is unbelievable...i have long dark hair which is always hard to make look natural...usually i end up with orangey highlights....with davin there is no orange....he is truly an artist! read more

I came here on the spur of the moment, deciding after years of cutting my own hair, I needed to get a professional to do it.. I told the front desk girls my fear of spending so much to get a hair cut, and the possibilities of disappointment.. They were very reassuring and sweet.. Brought coffee and offered more beverages after a time.. the atmosphere is lovely... And then I had my hair shampooed and an awesome scalp massage! Thank you shampoo girl, I never learned your name! And then she cut and blowed dried my hair.. And it was awesome.. Her attention to detail is excellent, as is her patience and really taking the time to give you the perfect cut and style.. all the while I'm relaxing with a glass of lemon water... I felt pampered and lovely the whole time I was there and it was really worth it for the whole experience I had. read more

I went in the other day for a Brazilian Blowout and color with Christine and literally cannot stop looking at my hair! I have gotten so many compliments on it and how shiny and healthy it feels! My husband even noticed when I got home that I did something new; and let me tell you.....he is a total guy, never pays attention to that stuff! She was so sweet and explained the whole process in detail as she did each step...only because I asked. I was kind of nervous at first because I have such curly hair and I really wanted to make sure the frizz would be gone and it is! The color that I asked for was exactly what I got.... This salon is GREAT! Prices are reasonable, considering it is in Beverly Hills. Michelle Vance does my color, and I seem to love it more and more every time. She takes her time and focuses on the tiniest details to make sure that it comes out perfect. And the color is rich, so it really lasts.... which is saying a lot, considering I go red. All in all, a great experience. All the people there are friendly and attentive. It is a relaxing environment. I would recommend Tom Brophy Salon to anyone who is looking to get quality results on their hair without selling a small child to pay for it. read more

I'm not a huge fan of doing reviews but I just could not help myself! Everything was so professional about this place and it sorta made me feel like i was at home? I always feel akward getting haircuts and such but not here! It was my first time here (after a bad experience at juan juan ugh....another time please) They suggsted Adrian for me, he was amazing! I recently had a Brazilian Blowout done by Rena. I really wasn't sure what to expect since I never had one before. My hair is pretty fine and frizzy so I usually tame it by blow drying, then finish it off with a straightener and some product. After Rena did the Brazilian Blowout treatment, I don't have to do ANYTHING to my hair! I let my hair air dry and that's it! My hair looks perfect every time, not to mention feels amazing and is so soft and healthy. Best part is, it last for months!! Rena did a great job and I cannot thank her enough!! read more

So happy with my new blond! Zoe was really great at discussing my options before we started. She genuinely cared about maintaining the health of my hair. My previous hairstylist wasn't getting me to the blond I wanted. But Zoe was up to the challenge of correcting my brassy hair! SHOCKING SHOCKING SHOCKING!!! Go to Prive or Neil George!!! SAVE YOURSELVES!!! This is the worst salon I have ever been to. Only Manager (TOM) is such a nice person. Christine is a terrible colorist. I showed her a picture of a hair which was light ash brown but she made my hair dark brown. My hair looks terrible now. trust me this lady is as good as blind!!!!! They didn't even blow dry my hair. This place is amazing!. I recently went and saw Shayna who put color in my hair. I was so nervous because I have never dyed my hair before, but it turned out just how I wanted it!!! Now I want to add even more blonde. She was also great at giving me a new home care routine and recommending great products so my hair wouldn't look dry or damaged. Tom a master haircutter, and his entire salon is as friendly and as helpful as it gets. I've been a client of his for over 20 years; I think that speaks volumes for how much I think of him.
