This review is about online shopping and delivery. I am one of those who really enjoys grocery shopping; strolling through the aisles looking for new items, reduced prices, etc. It's an outing that however strange it sounds that I look forward to. My usual shopping is done @ Kroger just down the street from TT. Many Kroger locations offer online shopping, but not delivery. My Kroger does not currently offer on line shopping. I believe Walmart also offers online shopping w/curbside pick up. However, when I ran across TT's offer to try online shopping with $20 OFF the final bill for first time orders, I just couldn't resist. Delivery is FREE w/orders of $49 or more. You first set up your account; name, delivery address, email address, phone #, form of payment, and reward card number for additional discounts. Very easy and quick. The online ordering process was fairly user friendly; shop by aisle, product name, sort by type, i.e. produce, bakery, meats, canned goods, etc. Also, the option was given to notify your "virtual shopper" of special requests, i.e. "only green bananas, far out expiration dates, no product substitutions", etc. which I thought was pretty cool. There is also an option to provide any instructions to the driver to easily locate your address. I placed my original order, chose my delivery date & window of time and confirmed the list. I kept thinking of other items I wanted so went back into "my order" several times, made my selections and "added to my cart". Awesome! Each time I modified my order, I received an email confirmation. Great, my confidence in this process continues to grow. I also received an email the day of delivery reminding me groceries are on the way. Okay, the delivery date arrives. I had chosen a window of time between 1000a-1100a. That huge TT truck pulls into my driveway @ 1020a. Whoopee, everything is working fine. A very professional young man, well dressed in his blue Tom Thumb shirt, comes to the door to confirm that I have ordered groceries. He brings back two plastic tubs of the sacked groceries. He first points out on a printed list that there were a few substitutions but am only charged the price of the original item selected in the event there was a difference in the price. There were no issues w/the substitutions, perhaps a different brand, i.e. a gallon of Trade Winds Tea instead of Lipton, or a smaller or larger package of the item selected, i.e. 12 oz instead of 8 oz. The refrigerated items are packaged separately which he identifies when bringing them into the house. He asks me to quickly review the list to ensure that every item ordered has been delivered. The only burp in the process was an overripe avocado, which when I cut into it, the entire flesh was that ugly dark brown. I called the customer service # and was immediately advised that the cost would be credited back to my card. This may be my bad as I didn't make a note to my "virtual shopper" for an "unripe" avocado. I'll remember that next time :) This was indeed a great experience. The convenience was a "10"; having someone else do the shopping, check out, wheeling the cart to the car across steaming asphalt in the TX heat, unloading the groceries at home in a hot garage, & toting them into the house. Add to that, a $20 savings ($110 worth of groceries for $90)! Nothing to complain about! Would I do this again? Perhaps in inclement weather, and definitely if I receive another offer of $20 OFF! I could get really spoiled with this great service! read more

I've always liked this store. It's clean and well stocked. Now, the Bakery is what I want to mention today. My daughter brought me a donut this weekend, it was sheer bliss! It was Dubai chocolate donut filled with the most delicious pistachio cream you can imagine! The cream has Kadaif in it which gives it a lovely light crunch and the chocolate on top is like a thick layer of silk.They are made on sight! Awkward customer service here. It was my first time walking here from Dutch bros. I got a drink there! I just had came in and was minding my business looking at TOMS good pricing on their ready to go meals, costing only $3.55 for breast and veggies and so my intention was to buy but this employee was hunting me from over my shoulder and I guess he was tryna flirt but it came off passive aggressive and wait a min, I had my beats on and was listening to music so I didn't even hear him and so I had to take my earphones off and he made this big deal about NOTHING LOL THRU ME COMPLETELY OFF, and then he got me to buy some tenders which was fine but I totally forgot to pay for my salad and water enhancer when I got to the register and I walked out and this BLACK LADY came outside to tell me I forgot to pay and she said it nice and I said sorry forgot lol and then I gave her back the salad and I called the store director to tell them my experience and he was so nice and didn't fault me and listened to my customer service experience and I told him I wanna remain anonymous and he said he will talk to all 3 employees lol anyways the store is clean and good products but dang do the sure over stock everything but I can say there is a lot of people living in the area so I'm sure ppl shop here! Nice AC unit blowing as it's 90 degree weather which throws ppl off too but anyways I did buy the chicken tenders for my salad at home and left with a good experience of sampling those! I go here often and the last couple of times need department was off and the cashiers need to have better. Customer service training. I was overcharged for item because the cashier did not scan the coupon which was plastic on the front of it so I know she saw it and I had to turn around and come back to get a refund . One time a vendor helped me and she was the nicest person ever so kudos and five stars to the vendor. read more

Shopper/Delivery - The produce picked was very poor. They were one day from experation on several items. They ask for a tip on the website where Kroger delivery does not. They use the very flimsy plastic bags and a couple of them were over packed and the bags were already tearing before I picked them up. Their delivery window is 2 hours where Kroger is 1 hour. This means that any frozen items could be thawed since they did not insulate anything. At least Amazon grocery delivery uses great bags and insulated bags on frozen goods. Overall the shopper did poorly and the product the driver delivered reflected poorly on them no matter what. I will not use them again when Kroger is so much better and Amazon (who I rate 2nd is a good runner up) read more

This is my least favorite Tom Thumb to go it- there is always a smell lingering and the pharmacy takes forever. At least 15 minute wait each time. I do not recommend using this for prescriptions. They do have a good deals if you are a member! read more

Just walked out of Tom Thumb on Marsh in Addison, TX. They had cokes on sale for 3/$10.89 and Blue Bell for $4.99 each. Went through self check out and cokes rang up at $8.99 and Blue Bell was also $8.99. I used my rewards card and downloaded digital coupons. I canceled sale. Walked out without any purchases. Talked with Corporate customer service and they were NO help. Said would refer to management. I will not be shopping at Tom Thumb or Albertson again. The pharmacist working today (Saturday, October 21, 2023) has to be one of the rudest people I have encountered. She didn't speak to me about my prescription which is a first in the years taken it. The sticker on the medication bottle was so carelessly applied that you can't read the warnings because it's wrinkled. The guy working the register had his headphones in and the only words he spoke to me was to ask my birthdate. I'm used to there being a long wait at this pharmacy, but I'm not used to this type of rude people working there. read more

Thankfully, this store has undergone a re-do / update over the last few months. Prior to the revamping of the store, there was an occasional foul odor when you walked in the main door area. Have not noticed that order since the re-do. The reason I give this store a 2 star review is because the produce is horrible. I tend to buy lemons by the bag since I go through them so quickly. Unfortunately, when I buy any bulk produce item from this store, it starts to rot within a day or two. I would not recommend buying produce in bulk here. Buy the produce you need for the day or evening only. I do find that produce at Trader Joes (and of course WholeFoods) is much fresher and lasts longer. Also, I have had issues of products being labeled with one price and then being charged a different price. For all of you thinking this is a good thing, I save receipts and review purchases. I did once purchase some Italian style tuna that is sold in glass jars, and is pure in flavor. Unfortunately, the tuna had some shattered glass in it. Neither the manufacturer, nor the supermarket, offered any compensation. Additionally, I have purchased pre-made watermelon and raw veggies for $5. While I have found the watermelon is actually quite good (do be sure to look at it before your purchase and make sure there isn't a LOT of liquid in the bottom of the container) and the veggies have been over-charged on a couple of times. The large tag on the raw veggies says it is $5 but I found that I was charged $6 or more for each. Do beware of the produce, it does not at all last long. Buy ONLY what you need for a day or two. Remodel of this store is a definite plus to bring into the current century. The staff is mediocre at best. I do like the new addition of the sushi bar. Although I am never certain when the specials on sushi apply, as it has been a bit inconsistent. Again, the advertisement states one price and what is actual price differs. Just like walking into your neighborhood Safeway, Vons or Pavilions. We had to grocery shop after landing in Dallas for my birthday weekend. So of course needed to hit up a grocery store that's open pretty late. This Tom Thumb is almost identical to the Safeway that we shop at here in the Bay Area. So we pretty much knew exactly where everything was. Apparently pricing is slightly lower on some products that we normally buy here in California. Food is just much cheaper in Texas I tell ya. We shopped here a few times and this place was never packed with people and everything is always stocked. Our Safeway card worked just fine here too! :) read more

I caved & signed up for the just for u marketing sham. Pisses me off to have to sign up for marketing programs to get best prices but now that I'm used to it I actually love it...shhh don't tell the marketing department. The App makes it super simple to save money. It's like clipping coupons from your phone. So once per week, I open the app to load in my coupons for my next shopping trip. Last week I saved $28 on my grocery bill which is the "Just for U" and the card savings together. On top of that, the JFU app had a 40 cent gas savings if you spent $50 in groceries...which is easy to do these days so I saved $8 on gas this week. As for service, I like the staff at this location. Generally as helpful as you can expect at a big chain store and I like the O organics selection that allows me to buy organic without breaking the bank. I do about 75% of my shopping here and go to WF for #certified humane eggs and meat. read more

Bakery - they do a really good job! Everything ive ordered / bought pre made has been delicious! I got cupcakes for a baby birthday- they literally looked like they came out of a boutique :) however it was only 12.99 for 2 dozen! Can't beat that price! I asked them to use the flat icing instead of the usual swirl. They came out super cute. read more

I was told it was already picked up and they did not do anything to compensate the mistake if somebody else actually picked up. This location has become my go to as there are very few grocery stores in the area. The store has everything I need, but not what I want. The selection of items are very limited if you are a selective shopper. I have brand preferences, and find that the store does not carry many of my favorites. Most recently I was shopping for cheese to make a three cheese Mac and Cheese, and discovered Asiago, White Cheddar, and Romano are too exotic to be carried at this store. I was also searching for plain bread crumbs, but the store carries one brand of bread crumbs and they are all flavored. The deli is smaller than I am used to, but I didn't realize this until I was on my way to a work potluck and needed to pick up a veggie side. The deli only carries varieties of potato or macaroni salad, no veggie sides at all. $40 later, I was checking out with items to make a salad. This experience has forced me to believe that what I've been told is true; most people in Dallas eat out which is why there are more fast food places than grocery stores. I need to suck it up and make Whole Foods my grocery destination. The fact that the store has a Starbucks is great, I do like to visit during the weekend. The service during the week is a bit slow if you have to get to work in the morning. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this location. It is set back from the street, but I was looking for a particular item, and Target and Kroger did not have it. I have mainly shopped at Kroger, but the one on Belt Line is a little outdated. This Tom Thumb is bright, welcoming, clean, updated, and they have a lot of variety. I went ahead and signed up for the savings card because that is the only way to get the good prices. I will probably come here more often. read more

This is my standard non-WalMart grocery store. The Kroger on Frankford is a little closer, but it's also a little more ghetto. This Tom Thumb is always clean, usually has what I need (I only get certain things here), and people are helpful. I renewed my car registration here at the Customer Service counter and it was SO MUCH EASIER than waiting in line at the dang tax office (or paying an extra $1 to mail it in) which is what I always did before. But if I'm being honest: I don't buy everything from my grocery list here. I find WalMart's prices on a lot of paper and dry goods (toilet paper, cereal, etc) to be better. But I usually check the prices because sometimes I'm taken by surprise and a really good deal. I do love Tom Thumb's produce, though. Yes, it's usually pricier than WalMart's, but I feel that the quality is better. Also, their Lucerne brand chocolate milk is really tasty. I have to stop myself from buying a little bottle of it every time to drink on the way home. I rarely succeed in actually stopping myself, though. Oops. Have your Tom Thumb Reward card with you. Sometimes that little thing can make the difference between a REALLY EXPENSIVE grocery run and a moderately priced one. read more

10/10 do not recommend this garbage store. Literally every single time that my husband & I have been into this particular location in the last few months, we are greeted by this overwhelming stench smacking us in the face for like 3/4 of the store that smells like the dead animals they sell have been sitting in the sun for WEEKS and they're literally just rotting beyond saving. Tonight it was that, plus the construction they've been doing in the store for months now. Specifically electric lifts used in construction that make this horrendous & shrill beeping noise -- for the entire 20 minutes we were in the store. It literally never stopped. I did not have a headache when I walked into Tom Thumb but I definitely did when we walked out. Also, Kelle R. below me said the re-do/update was finished 22 days ago. That is absolutely false. I like this grocery store. They have really great deals most of the time. Some times have an insane markup and others you cant find anywhere cheaper so its give and take. Make sure you get a Tom Thumb card before you shop because they will not use a "store card" at the register. The produce is really fresh here too and the bakery has great individual pieces of cake you can buy for like 4 bucks. Wine selection is pretty decent. The register lanes are horribly slow but they have 4 self checkouts that I almost always use and seldom have lines. This location has a red box inside too but because its such a slow store it runs out of good movies fast as people return them at other places I suspect. read more

Prices here are getting outrageous. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to pay a premium for convenience and not having to see Walmart people. But the Kroger right down the street at Belt Line and Marsh kills these guys on just about every category. One bottle of olive oil I always by is $6.56 at Kroger and $12 at this Tom Thumb. They also jacked salmon up to $8.99/lb, which Kroger did as well, but the latter gives you some lemon, butter and fresh spices with it and puts it all in a nice baking bag for you. I was surprised that this place is one of their updated locations (this is my first visit). I came for Bigelow tea (2.79) and I also bought Progresso Soup (2.02) ...Both items were over priced compared to other grocery stores. .I buy them all the time the tea is usually 2.12 and the soup used to be 1.50 but recently a typical price is 1.58. I was caught off guard when the cashier said he didn't have an extra reward card to scan with my purchase (Progresso 2 for 3.00), so I had to ask the guy in front of me, thankfully he was kind enough to let me use his reward card - saving me 2.00. This store is okay for a quick last minute item, but I'll continue to go elsewhere. read more

All the employees look like they are miserable and any time I ask one of them where something is, they either huff and look annoyed or take off down an aisle to show me said product without so much as a word. I had such a pleasant experience today with curbside pickup! Two weeks ago, I placed an order which never got posted, even though I had the confirmation email. At that time, Amanda, the sweet grocery guru, did me the huge favor of bringing me some chicken anyway! I placed another order on Tuesday for pickup today. I called yesterday to make sure I was in the system. Amanda said that my order was definitely in the system. I asked if I could add anything to it. She advised that I just tell her what I needed and she would add it by hand. This morning she called to ask if I would wait to come until I received an email because they were swamped. I was happy to do that and reminded her about the item I wanted to add. She said she had it and asked if there was anything else. I added one more small thing. I received my email three hours later along with the final list and receipt. The last item I added wasn't listed, which was fine as it was just an afterthought. When I got to the store parking lot and called, she came out in about 4 minutes and loaded my car. I mentioned a substitution for the item I was missing, she called an associate and had him bring out the substitution *at no charge!* THAT, my friends, is customer service!! My family and I have shopped at TT for 60 years, so they were in no danger of losing me, but Amanda's kindness goes a long way toward keeping me happily coming back during this most difficult time! read more

This place may have had a physical makeover but the quality of their service has taken a nosedive. There is never anyone at the meat or deli counter and on average you have to wait at minimum over 5 minutes for someone to just show up. The customer service desk always has a 3-4 people line but there is only ever one very slow person there. I would stop coming here but for the fact I live a few minutes away. read more
