Servers are just hanging around the restaurant chatting with each other while my family and I (party of 3) sat for over 40 minutes waiting for some food to come out. Almost an hour after we had sat down at our seats all we had gotten were our drinks and 1 appetizer with no entrees. My mother had just ordered one salad and a small cup of soup for her meal and this wasn't able to have been served within 40 minutes, all while we can see 3 servers and all the chefs having enough spare time to chat and have fun amongst themselves. (The whole kitchen is visible to the dining area with no walls blocking view of the cooks.) I can understand a restaurant being slow in service during high volume hours, but on a slow dinner service at 4:30 with only a few seated tables inside the restaurant our server tried to attribute the lack of regard or attention for our table to a high volume of to-go orders. Two different tables seated 10-15 minutes after us had received some food before us shortly before we had to make the call to pay for what we had received and find somewhere else nearby to eat. Maybe this restaurant is the place for you if you're looking for some quick take out food, because if you choose to dine inside the restaurant there's a high chance the workers at this restaurant will not care for your food or dining experience. read more

This is specifically for the take and bake pizza. Ordered a large margherita pizza thinking it was the same size as the a cooked one since the price is the same. However, the take and bake is much smaller in size. Don't buy the take and bake. Just get the cooked one. read more

We were going to go to the new goodwill and wanted to get some lunch first. We saw Tomatina and had visited them in San Mateo some weeks ago so it was no brainer. I submitted our online order 3 hours in advance to ensure the food would be ready before our guests arrive. Scheduled a 5:15pm pickup. Arrived at 5:15pm, and similar to other reviews: There was no host, hostess, manager or anyone who made eye contact with any of us at the door. There were probably only 2 tables occupied, yet it still took 10 mins for someone to speak with me at the register. It's now 5:30pm, and the employee pulls up my order. Guess what: He said they haven't started making it yet, and it could be another 30 mins. Frantic, we book out of there to scramble to find another place for food. What has happened to this place? It's as if they're trying to get shut down. tldr: I submit an online order at 2pm; scheduled for a 5:15pm pickup. I arrive to pick it up; they tell me it will not be ready until 6pm. read more

I ordered a bowl of soup To Go. The portion is ridiculously small! They gave me 2 tiny little cups of soup "equivalent" to a bowl, he said. I paid around $10 with taxes an tip. No worth the price!! Have eaten at this restaurant many times and loved their pizza, but not anymore ! We went their this evening, and both had soup and a small pizza. My wife's was really great. Mine was BURNT! Crust was Burnt, and burnt on the bottom! I said nothing! Should have sent it back, because instof having a wonderful meal I was pissed! I will certainly hesitate going back. Louigi's would not all this to happen! The service was good, but why allow a burnt pizza to be served? Went back last evening,at wife's request! Ordered the same soup and pizza. Restaurant on Prospect Street-----inside was empty but outside , some tables filled. Only one waitress to serve all. Hostess just walked around doing nothing and moving pizza boxes around on food counter,. It took a while for the waitress to take our orders(2 people) Over 30 minutes to finally get our meal. When it finally came the food was luke warm. We waited another 10+ minutes for the bill to come and it was wrong-over charged. Only one person to serve everyone was unreasonable. I was excited to try this restaurant and hopeful that even though we were doing take away that it would be well worth the money. We called ahead of time to double check on the shrimp pomodoro to see if it was a sauce that was a marinara based sauce or if it was a sauce that was basically just tomatoes basil garlic. The gentleman on the phone said it was just chopped tomatoes no marinara or tomato paste sauce. Unfortunately once we got at home we found out that it did have a bit of marinara/pasta sauce and my friend is unable to eat that type of sauce. This became a throw away dish. Not because of bad flavor, I tasted it and it tasted fairly good. The lasagna was the dish that I ordered and it tasted really good. I'm looking forward to going to the restaurant and trying their food while sitting in the restaurant instead of doing take away. One other issue that I had with the takeaway was the apple crisp dessert was sent home with fresh whipped cream and the whipped cream was stored inside the same container as the hot apple crisp. Tell me the whipped cream watery. I called and spoke to the manager just to let them know they were apologetic about the miscommunication regarding the sauce and explain that the whipped cream is always inside the container with the main item. Last night was our first time here and our food/service was good. We ordered the shrimp fettuccini, chicken piadine, kids pizza and kids salad. Everything was tasty, but the kids salad was a sooooooo small. It was kind of laughable, so they should definitely make that a little bigger. My fettuccini was delicious, but the portion was also on the smaller side. It was good for me since I don't eat big portions, but others might complain. Also, $4 for an Arnold Palmer? My son and I recently hosted a surprise birthday celebration at this Tomatina's on Prospect Road. Both my son and I have nothing but PRAISE for this event. Carlos, the manager, was so excellent to work with, and he pulled out all of the stops to accommodate our every request. And our waiter, I believe his name was Edit (so.?), was superb. He was attentive, and he met our every request. He was extremely customer-friendly. The food? My son and I heard so many wonderful comments regarding the food. I needed catering for an event and reached out to their catering department, who were very easy to work with. My 40 box lunches were delivered on time and they also set up the food table for me. The whole thing was dead easy and it meant that I could enjoy the event without trying to prepare and serve food myself. I ordered a variety of food and each choice was delicious. There were turkey sandwiches, caprese sandwiches, and small boxes of pasta - both penne with meatballs and penne with alfredo sauce. Salads and a roll were also included, and I chose fresh fruit for desert. The box lunches made my covid fearing guests happy, and I received many compliments on the food. This is my second time at this location. I picked this place on the busy Mother's Day and I was happy with the service! Customer service was great and I came in before it was super busy. The food was delicious and fresh! The calamari was the best I have had in a long time. The service was great even though they were busy and usually customer service is testy because it's busy but you couldn't tell that here!! This is my favorite Italian place. The service is great, the drinks are strong, the servers are on top of it. The bread is made in house so please try the garlic rolls with some marinara sauce. The food is delicious best vodka sauce I've ever had. The portions are great and the lunch specials are perfect. They're a little pricey but worth the cost. This place is upscale Italian restaurant. The only other one I know of is at Mercado. This one is close enough to my work so I can enjoy an afternoon of yummy goodness! read more

Couldn't even come close to doing the "custom" pizza right. No pesto drizzle, dry chicken. Sometimes they get it right, but too often they don't. I'm tired of it. When you charge $25 for a custom personal size pizza, get it right! Ate a couple of slices because we were hungry, the rest went into the compost bin. Very sad. read more

Great food, great service and a very nice glass of wine... what more can you ask for? Ordered the garlicky rolls (a real must), the chopped salad (one less star as they are not chopping as much salami, etc into it, but still tasty) and a salmon dinner, switching out the Alfredo sauce to a creamy pesto. The salmon was excellent - perfectly cooked with enough pasta to have leftovers and some really scrumptious spinach. If you sign up for their emails, you get 15% off (which I did) and their Covid protocols were great. There is outdoor or indoor dining. Our waitstaff was great! We went here for the first time. We were there around 5pm. The food was just okay. I was expecting salad and bread to come with our entrees. I asked the server for some bread. He brought out four small slices for myself and my three kids. On Thursdays kids eat free with the purchase of one adult entree. Not sure we'll be back. You get a lot more food at places like Olive Garden and Old Spaghetti Factory and the price is slightly cheaper. Not sure we'll be back. We sat at the bar this time. Very good selection of draft beer. Our pasta came out cold but we were too hungry to turn it back and wait for it again a so we ate it like that. The garlic rolls were delicious and very filling. Couldn't finish the small order of 4. Ordered Prosecco but noticed that it was dumped quickly onto the glass which cause all the foam to escape. This place has extremely customer service. They care more about policy rather than comfort of the clients. With freezing weather they left the door open for half hour before the closing time so that they could Bering chairs in from patio comfortabley. The manager Bianca could have used common sense and not make it a policy statement. Wouldn't recommend dine in option unless you come by 6pm and are done by 7pm. This place used to be on point but they are missing the mark now. My salad came out incomplete, the meatballs were barely lukewarm (had to send back), and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom - nor did the toilet flush. We got water well after the meal and while we were offered a complimentary dessert for the trouble, if we didn't accept it then "oh well, I'm sorry for the trouble." Don't get me wrong. I love this place. We go every week. But..... they lack variety. And now their monthly special is moving to every two months. They need more variety, not less. Honestly there should be something new per week. I know it's costly but every two months? Seems lazy. I can help with menu ideas if they need them. Let me start off by saying that this was not my first time trying out Tomatina. I have tried food from the Walnut Creek, Alameda, Santa Clara & San Jose location. Each time, the food here is great & you can definitely taste the freshness of every dish (compared to food from, oh let's say Olive Garden) this is as fresh as it's gonna get people! From the pastas to salads to drinks to pizzas, it is all great. They also have gluten free pizzas for all of you health nuts out there, like me! So that already is a score for me! I always order pasta here and it is always super yummy that I save some for lunch the next day! No joke. The restaurant itself, is very clean and organized. The bar area is near the entrance and there is a full view d the kitchen. There is also an outdoor patio for eating outside on a nice day. There is plenty of parking in front and on the side, which is good for those busy weekends. The staff here is great and seem to love their job. The manager is great, very professional and does an excellent job of taking care of anything that may arise as soon as possible. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area and/or in the mood for good Italian food! You best believe I will be coming back here again soon! :) read more

Wow, severely disappointed in my visit tonight. This will most likely be our last visit to Tomatina. We ordered take out online, that's another story in itself. I went to pick it up and was taken aback by the fact that my bowl of soup was the same size as the cup of soup ordered for my wife. What, how is that possible? I asked the gentleman working the takeout cash register and he brought in the manager. Her explanation was that the cup of soup should have been 4 ounces while my bowl of soup should have been double that. She said they over filled the cup order and under filled the bowl order. She did at least offer to have the staff top off my "bowl" of soup. I will give them props though as our dinner did taste good. But, when I add the experience with the $28 for a cup of soup, a bowl of soup, garlic rolls and a tiny order of polenta it all adds up to a very unsatisfied customer. read more

Went to get lunch here. They have a that contactless system where you scan the menu and order your food. We had a question about something and no one was on the floor. Not behind the bar..not waiting on people. So we waited...and waited... AND WAITED...but they were all in the back laughing about something that must've been super hilarious because they were back there for a loooong time.
