I have been to Tomato Brothers over the years and I can say that the food is always good. The owners also own other places with different names and some have failed. But this place has always stayed good quality. The breadsticks are a must when you go here. Also the house salad dressing is a must. The service is friendly and fast. Let me tell you, if you go to tomato brothers and don't order the bread sticks with garlic cheese dip you are missing out on one of those important moments in life, like the first steps of a child or your first love. You know, the food here is good and I love the Caesar salad, I really do. It is such a shame that they have decided to nickle and dime their customers now. Not to long ago they offered unlimited breadsticks with your meal. Recently, they decided that they would limit and then charge you if you wanted extra. Okay, I get that and I didn't have a problem with it until we ordered take out and were told that bread no longer comes with the take out meal, BUT THE PRICE OF THE MEAL IS EXACTLY THE SAME. How does that work? So, if you don't dine in, you are charged $8 for a salad and then another $4 for bread. RIP-OFF. If you don't want to serve a bag of bread with take out, then reduce your price. Nickle and Diming your customers in HOWELL is a great way to go out of business. If you want overpriced food, go....but don't order take out unless you want to be charged twice the amount for the same exact meal. Sad. read more

Everyone loves a good breadstick and Tomato Brothers doesn't disappoint. They're garlicky, crusty but soft in the middle. My family snarfed down a big basket of them. This was my first time at Tomato Brothers and after one visit, I know that I will be back again and again. I myself had the rib dinner with a salad and fries, and it was excellent. If you're looking for a quick dinner with some pretty mainstream italian tastes, this is a great place to grab a bite. First off, yes, the breadsticks are great. They're salty, buttery, garlicky, and just right so you keep eating them not realizing you probably ate the equivalent of a sack of flour... as for the food, the flavor combinations are pretty regular, and the prices are reasonable. The portions are huge (both my fiancee and I left with lunch for the next day). I had a shrimp/scallop fettucine which was pretty good. My fiancee had a bbq chicken sandwich which was okay. I think what brought this place up to 4 instead of 3 stars is the service. Being from Baltimore normally, this place reminded me of what Midwestern Charm is all about. The waitress was always friendly, and when we inquired about breadsticks (after hearing the rave reviews here), she smiled, and brought back a mountain of them. They probably do this for everyone, but it was pretty awesome. So, all in all, if you're looking to go to the type of place like Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, etc (Italian chain, reasonable price, mainstream flavors), you should give this place a try too. read more

Tomato Brother's is like a Howell institution - owned by the same family that owed Gus's Carry-out (In Howell and Brighton) and EG Nick's (In Brighton), but is more Italian than it's sister restaurants. Tomato Brother's is generally good - their breadsticks are tasty, bottomless, and covered in garlic powder. Their Pizza is tasty, and their Calzones are delicious and made to order. I wouldn't say it's 100% authentic Italian, but it is tasty, and the corner tables make you think that some mafioso family might own the place ;-) Their pastas are generally good, although their noodles are always softer than al dente, which I don't particularly care for. Went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Pleasant wait staff, quick attentive reception. Companions had the chicken skewers, while I had the chicken Marsala. Entrees were delicious, accompanying soups and salads were homemade and tasty and the bread sticks were wonderful. Portions were generous and we all needed a to go box. I've eaten here half a dozen times over the past couple years. My experience the first 5 times left a lot of room for improvement. I just never had a good meal.... until the the 6th time. My most recent venture here was for a family function. I was apprehensive about going, but had to. We'll I'm glad I did because I had a great time and the food was fantastic. Love Tomato Brothers. Been coming here for years. Their bread sticks are awesome. Portion sizes are large and prices are reasonable. We have tried many different entrees, from the ribs, to the whitefish, to pizza or the pasta. Love their salads as well, both the caesar or the the Tomato Brothers salad. My favorite is the Tomato Brothers Mostaccioli. Always enough to take home. Very popular on the weekends, so do expect a wait. Service has traditionally been good. They just completed their remodel. I LIKE TOM BRO'S! Bread sticks are on point, the ranch is like crack to a crackhead, and the portions are gigantic. It kind of reminded me of a geriatric diner before the remodel but it looks much better now. Their drink prices are high but it's not a bar its an Italian food place designed to put you in a food coma; which it does tastefully and effectively. We've lived in the area for 30 years. Then it was called Gus's. Whatever the name this restaurant has provided consistently great service, great food, and great value to people in Livingston County. Since I'm a pizza person and order pizza wherever it's available I would rate the pizza on a taste scale 7/10 as it was about average maybe a little above average taste wise but the pizza was pretty big for a large being only $12.59. Without a doubt, the best restaurant in Howell. I highly reccommend the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Pizza. The breadsticks are very tasty, as everyone says, and the garlic cheese dip is heavenly. The one problem is the cheese dip is a bit pricey and only comes in one size (quite large) so I wish they would offer a less pricey option for half that amount. We went later on Palm Sunday and they were still fairly busy. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server who asked for our drink order then gave use several minutes to make our selections. Our drinks were delivered and our orders placed. I had asked for " no tomato " on my order, which many restaurants miss. Our orders came quickly, I had the Cobb salad and my husband had the entree Greek. I did not have tomato on my salad and it was delicious as was my husband's. My only criticism is that the lettuce was in very large chunks which made it a tad hard to eat and we had to wait for our bill to be picked up a tad longer than normal. Otherwise it was a good meal that we had eaten before and came back for the exact same meal. We live in Holt, MI about 45 minutes away so we would not have made the trip if it was not good the first time. read more
