We absolutely love this place!! It is one of our go-tos, and we are always impressed. The restaurant has a beachy, coastal vibe, which we love. To start, we got the bread, which is served warm and with a cinnamon butter. It is delicious!! We also got the guacamole and coconut shrimp, which are some of our favorites. I always get the crab cakes!! These are my favorite ever. They are full of fresh crab meat and not much breading, which I prefer. I also substitute the sides for their broccoli and mashed potatoes. I look forward to this meal every time we come in town. We also love the burger as well!! We are burger lovers, so this is a must! Others in our party ordered the macadamia nut crusted fish, snapper special, and the spaghetti squash bowl with steak. Everything was delicious!! I would recommend the snapper special also. Each sauce and side that was paired with it was amazing, and the fish had a nice crisp exterior that was perfect with the tender, flaky fish. Lastly, we ended the night with the Pina colada cake and the crème brûlée! We get the crème brûlée every time, and it is one of the best, if not the best crème brûlées we've had! This place is upscale casual, and they have alternating live music playing. This is a popular spot, so it is best to make reservations. I was able to find a couple spots at the bar. On our way south, we stopped in Sandestin to see some friends from our home town. Six of us went to Tommy Bahama's for dinner. As it was Super Bowl Sunday, we wanted to eat early so we could get back to football. Others must have had the same idea as the restaurant was already half full at 4:00. Besides their excellent menu, they had a "Valentine's month" special menu. One of the women had the steak and lobster on that menu while her husband had the filet. Both dishes looked excellent. One of the steaks was ordered medium rare and the other rare. It was nice to see the attention to detail of perfectly cooked steaks so often overlooked at many restaurants. Other dishes ordered were a fish special (snapper) and mahi tacos. Food was excellent all around with the service as good as the food. The crab bisque was also just heavy cream. I only ate two bites. Not good. However the warm goat cheese dip and piña colada cake were two of the best things I've put in my mouth. So evens it out. A series of unfortunate events... Let me preface this review by saying I did research on this location prior to choosing where to eat and one thing that stood out over and over was how stellar their service is. I wish I could say the same. I booked a reservation to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday as he loves the brand Tommy Bahama and thought it would be cool to try their food. From the moment we were seated, our poor experience began. We were brought to a table in the corner of the patio directly by the kitchen entrance. The table was not set and there was a chair missing, so my sister stood awkwardly while the hostess went to grab a chair. Our waitress had to go grab silverware and napkins as well. Early on, I made sure to let the waitress know I had a a dairy allergy. I was interested in getting the Thai shrimp and scallops as it said coconut curry, but she informed me there was still dairy. I asked if she had any recommendations for dishes that could be easily modified and the only one she told me was the Chilean sea bass as "a lady [she] just served had a dairy allergy and the kitchen can make that easily". Since she was so confident in her answer, that's what I went with. The rest of the table ordered the coconut shrimp, crab bisque, lobster pot pie, mahi mahi tacos, and the shrimp and crab pasta. The coconut shrimp and crab bisque were served relatively quickly. However, we waited for a while for our main dishes. Not once during this time did our waitress check on us. For a majority of the meal, we didn't have water because she never came by to refill. After some time, the manager walks over to our table and informs me that the sea bass will have to be significantly modified due to my allergy and asked if I wanted asparagus, broccoli, &/or spinach in place of the risotto. I was caught off guard since 1) the waitress recommended this dish because of how "easily" it could be modified and 2) we had been waiting for a long time. I do appreciate him coming to talk to me but looking back I should've explained what the waitress told me and maybe even ordered something else. At this point, I was over it, so I just said asparagus was fine. When my meal arrived, I ended up also asking for the broccoli which didn't come until I was done eating. However, I will take responsibility for this since I didn't ask up front. As we are finishing our dinner, another waitress accidentally drops ketchup on the floor and it splatters all over our table, the booth seats, and...wait for it...my brother's hair LOL. The waitress was very apologetic but I don't think she realized she had actually gotten ketchup on us. We knew it was an accident, so we didn't say anything but just another thing to add to our interesting experience. The final straw was the dessert. While we were there, the two tables near us had birthday celebrations as well and they were brought a dessert with a candle. Since I put birthday as the occasion in the reservation, I for sure thought we would receive our dessert with a candle, but nope. We just sang happy birthday to him on our own. Overall, all of our food was pretty good but for spending around $250 for 4 people, I had much higher expectations. In the end, I left with a giant stalk of broccoli, my brother left with ketchup in his hair, and my boyfriend left with memories of an eventful birthday celebration. read more

Had a solo musician who was not too bad keeping everyone entertained and provided a good vibe. Started with a Coconut Cloud Martini and some fresh bread. Every time I am in town I try to make a point to stop here. Although the food was good, the atmosphere and service was not up to par. We were seated quickly but we were seated near the front of the restaurant, basically right behind the hostess stand. It felt like we were more in the bar than the restaurant. The restaurant was also very dark, so much so that I had to use my phone flashlight to read the menu. They also happened to have someone playing live music the night I dined here, making it for a noisy ambiance; it was hard to talk to each other over the music. We got our drinks and ordered our entrees- I ordered the Thai shrimp and scallops. We got our food and it was as delicious as always. I will say that when I visited in the past I received more food for the price but this time around there was less food and more expensive prices. However, everything was tasty and I highly enjoyed my dish. We did have to keep flagging down our waiter as we were not getting consistent drink refills. We finished it off with one of my favorites, a slice of Pina colada cake. Again, the cake was scrumptious. Overall, it was a pretty good visit with only minor hiccups. read more

The ambiance with the live music was nice and relaxing. Our server, exceptional. She was very personable and accommodating. I wish her the best with all those pups and one on the way!! The food, very well cheffed and presented. We had the crab cake appetizers and they were so good we will be going back just for those. They came with a cabbage salad made in house that was light and crisp. They are pan seared not fried and the sauce they come with just feeling delicious. I had the mahi tacos also very good and fresh and full of flavor. I tried the plantains with banana sauce and it was a side but tasted like dessert. Not too sweet and cooked just right. In town for a work function and I found myself with a free eve. I strolled the streets and shops and settled on Tommy Bahamas for a solo supper. Sitting on the patio, i peacefully listened to the wind gently rustle the palm tree fronds, the water fountain nearby and the hum of happy diners also seated on the patio. A cheery server named "Y" waited on me, answered my questions about the dishes I was deciding between and made sure this warm spring night was cooled by a delish aperol spritz perfectly named the "happily aperol". The crab cake entree I ordered was plenty and Chock full of crab with the right touch of breadcrumbs, layered on a bed of subtle hint of coconut sauce, accompanied by perfectly grilled fresh spring asparagus and house made slaw. I opted for the small size chocolate dessert and it was still large enough to split (Had I been dining with others!) so I ate half and took half back to the hotel with me. Since I didn't have a dinner mate to chat with I took the time to join their Tommy bahama reward club...it offered $10 off a meal, immediately available and the option to earn points on future meals. I learned that there is also one of their restaurants in Vegas where I'll be checking out when visiting there in a Few weeks. What a great place for lunch! We popped in and were seated immediately, a rarity in the Destin area. The meal began with complimentary rolls and a tasty honey butter flavored with ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It was a different twist and so yummy! I had a cucumber smash cocktail with gin, elderflower, lime, and muddled cucumber. It was light and refreshing on a warm Florida afternoon. The girls drank virgin cocktails which received a big thumbs up. The Thai shrimp and scallops with lemongrass were delicious. My daughter tried the Cuban sandwich. It looked like the real deal and she said it was the best she's ever eaten. Her friend ordered the gigantic king salmon bowl full of grains, avocado, lettuce, island slaw, roasted corn salsa, almonds, mango salsa, wontons, all dressed with a citrus miso vinaigrette. Another winner. But the star of the meal was the pineapple crème brûlée. A thick slice of pineapple was hollowed out then filled with a luxurious pineapple-flavored custard, topped with a white chocolate whipped cream of sorts. Fresh strawberries garnished this delicious and lovely concoction. Oh yes, it was as delectable as it sounds. If you have an opportunity to dine at a Tommy Bahama restaurant, don't pass on it.
