Good BBQ is hard to find We found Tommy's because Yelp to the rescue... or d I thought. Many reviews were incredibly enthusiastic about the food, and for all of us foodies, that's pretty much all that it usually takes. The customer Service is absolutely a huge plus to this establishment. The people that work there are incredibly nice and very welcoming, and for that they absolutely should be commended. We decided to order the three meat and two sides plate because it was too late for lunch and too early for dinner and it was a good compromise For the three proteins, we selected brisket, beef link, which was recommended by the staff, and the pulled pork. There were two slices of brisket and the brisket, lacked seasoning, and was dry and overcooked. The pulled pork while there was seemingly a generous amount, it too, was very dry, locked any real flavor, and it just was sad. The beef link, which I was looking forward to was also overcooked, and just wasn't good. It had a rather odd texture and taste to it, and I also thought it was strange that they had pre-sliced the length for us. There's something magical about biting or cutting into a link and enjoying that first bite that breaks crispy skin as you bite into it. The mac & cheese was the showstopper! It was creamy, cheesy, and really tasty! The baked beans I'm not even sure what to say about them. They weren't sweet, they weren't tangy, they were just sad. We tried to enjoy them, but it was virtually impossible. I understand that Hercules is not known for BBQ, but that doesn't mean that it cannot exist. Hopefully Tommy's will step up their game. Since this was my first visit, I have no way of knowing if things used to be better and now aren't, or if this is just standard.

Ordering is super simple, we ordered online, arrived during the estimated window it would be done. The interior has a good sized seating area, but it seems like a lot of people just pick up to go. We were in and out pretty quickly. The food was really really good, brisket was the perfect tenderness, pulled pork was great, sides complimented the meats well. The bbq sauce was probably the best I've tasted, I'm normally not a fan of bbq sauce either. The mac and cheese was my favorite side by far. The spread of food was amazing, felt like it was priced on the higher end but didn't mind due to the food being so good and meat was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend, will be back forsure!

I'm still loving the eats at Tommy's. I just wish good bbq didn't cost and arm & a leg! Got the 2 meats / 2 sides plates. Ribs & brisket still delicious! Cole slaw & mac and cheese! I forgot to ask for my sauce on the side. Oops! Service was really good. My tray was brought to me..thank you! It was really loud in here with the guys in the dining area doing what they do. But after they left, you could hear the music etc.

YOWZA--this was excellent. Mouthwatering brisket. Delicious jalapeño cheddar links. Baked beans and mac and cheese. Devoured it so quickly it felt like a figment of my imagination when I was suddenly craving it all over again a couple hours later. Keep up the good work! Will be back.

Ordered the two-way plate with brisket and beef links, along with baked beans and potato salad. The meat was tender, but overall the brisket lacked a bit of flavor. The beef links were better seasoned, though slightly on the dry side. The barbecue sauce was okay but leaned less sweet than I prefer. The plate comes with a slice of white bread, which is great for dipping into the sauce. The baked beans were well flavored and tender, and the potato salad was nice and thick -- probably my favorite part of the plate. My daughter ordered the single smashburger with bacon and said it was juicy and very flavorful. They offer a good variety of meats and also have dessert options. While some items stood out more than others, it's a solid spot with options worth trying.

DELICIOUS BBQ - Tommy's is a welcome addition to Hercules . We have tried both the ribs and the brisket and definitely love the ribs more . We also get the greens every time and they are so good . Mac and cheese wasn't as good and haven't had it since . Their prices are quite high but the good quality is also superb. They have other options and look forward to trying them out lots of seating and parking is plentiful . They only open from Wednesday to Sunday !! Worth the visit .

I decided to order Tommy BBQ on a Saturday night after hearing about this place so many times; I'm glad that I was able to finally give it a shot. Normally, I'm a little bit wary of anywhere that puts their sauce on directly on top of the barbecue. But I quickly found out that the sauce was not hiding the barbecue. The brisket that I ordered was very tender and had the perfect amount of smoke on it. The amount of brisket that they gave was enough to last me two meals! What was surprising was that the sides were just as good as the BBQ, I was very impressed by both the mac n cheese and bbq beans. The mac and cheese reminded me of a should food plate and the bbq beans were very well seasoned and could easily be a meal itself. I'm glad to have a great bbq place in the area and will be back soon!

Good food... Friendly Staff ... You can't ask for anything better.. The greens have just as much meat in them then a half of rib. My husband's favorite side dish is the potato salad and beans. I guess you really can't go wrong.

Hubby loves barbecue and I'm basing this review on that. The ribs are fall off the bone tender, the chicken is good, and he likes the brisket. We especially like the fact that they offer collard greens as one of the sides. Portions are decent, you are well fed here. Service is very good, always with a smile and friendly. They're happy to accommodate you if you would like all dark meat for your chicken. This restaurant is on the small side, but there's plenty of room at the tables. Hubby thinks they do a good job on the barbecue so we will come again.

Went back to get BBQ since I was in the area. Disappointed they don't have the brisket tacos.. that needs to come back. We tried the smash burger and a 2-way. Food was ok but super disappointing to find my potato salad literally drenched in BBQ sauce. I tried to eat it anywat but it didn't work it was just all messed up. I don't know why there was bbq sauce since they gave us a tub on the side. Epic fail today to detail and attention. I guess for future ask potato salad on the side.

Was meeting my friend for dinner and he suggested this place to go to. I am always down for BBQ, so I decided to give this place a try. Ordering is simple, you ask for what style of food you want (plate or sandwich or something else) and you choose your protein and side. I went with two meats of Chicken and Brisket, with Mac and Cheese and Coleslaw as my side and a drink. 2 meat plate: The brisket was very tender and juicy. The right amount of sauce and seasoning was perfect for me. The chicken was also big as well. It was like eating a half whole chicken and the seasoning was a bit salty on this one. The Cole slaw was crispy and refreshing and the Mac and cheese was good. The slice of bread was also a nice touch. Overall, a nice dinner with my friend, although very pricey for what I paid (close to $30). Still, I enjoyed my meal and would come back again.

This is some damn good BBQ.. fuck Everett and Jones or whatever people yammer on about.. this, this is the spot for the Bay Area. I just got a 2 way plate. Chicken thighs and brisket with a side of potato salad and beans. Man oh man it did not disappoint.. everything was well seasoned and the brisket was soft as warm butter. Now, be warned its not cheap. I got 2, 2 way plates with 2 bottles of water and I added a 20% tip and walked away $70 lighter but what the fuck.. everything is getting expensive these days what are you going to do?? anyways, try it. You'll like it read more

We popped in here on a random Thursday. I was expecting the usual semi-cold, tasty but could be better bbq that we got here in the Bay. I'm glad to share that this wasn't the case. The ribs were delish-meat falling off the bone, brisket was SEASONED, and the bbq sauce was on point. We had Mac and cheese and beans as sides and they were good. Definitely recommend. I got the Two Way plate which gives you 2 choices of meat & 2 sides. I chose the Brisket & Ribs both 10/10. I got mine with extra sauce for an extra 50 cents. For the sides I got the Mac N Cheese & Potato Salad. Mac N Cheese was 10/10. Potato Salad 8/10. read more

You will not be disappointed! The pulled pork is so juicy and tender. But the star of the show for sure is the brisket!!! The brisket was so tender, fatty, and full of flavor! It reminded me of my last trip to Austin Texas!!! And...at the moment they are out by the Richmond Waterfront! The view there is awesome! Lastly, the owner is friendly and do what's best for the customers!!! Seriously stop on by and make your belly happy!!! read more

I've never been to Texas but this is what the BBQ tastes like in my imagination. Had the brisket and pork ribs and they were absolutely killer, the best I've had in the Bay. Sauce was mouth watering, sides were good. Bringing the family back to try the chicken next! read more

Wow, great bbq! The brisket was top notch and the links had a great bite to them. Would have preferred a little less of the sauce (which a was great, smoky, sweet and with some heat) but overall I'm impressed at this outfits smoking skills. Coleslaw was excellent. Potato salad was good too. Will be back again for sure. read more

Loved the pulled brisket and ribs. Wow. So tender, juicy and flavorful! The chicken was incredibly tender, too. I'm not normally a fan of bbq sauce because well-cooked BBQ should not be covered up with sauce. But Tommy's sauce is the perfect balance of heat, sweet, vinegar and salt. The potato salad was fabulous, too. I can't wait to go back again and try everything else. read more

It was convenient so we tried it. I'm a bit picky about BBQ having spent 25 years in Atlanta. I thought Tommy's was pretty average for what I am used to, but that still makes them pretty decent Cali BBQ, which I've found to be overly focused on sauce and too light on smoke. read more

We LOVE eating and cooking BBQ in my house. The only thing that stops us from achieving greatness is we cannot make sausages. So imagine my surprise when a local restaurant had them on their menu!! FINALLY! A BBQ joint with HOME MADE sausage links! Visited Tommy's today and brought home a 3 way with brisket (tender and done really well), ribs (slightly dry at the tips but they fell off the bone. I think they were also finished off Or heated in an oven but still smoky and still had a bark) and home made links! Links were really good but just a tad too much salt for my salt lovin' tastebuds but I enjoyed every morsel. The mac and cheese side was excellent also. Bravo Tommy! We'll be back and we'll bring our friends and family. read more

The brisket and pulled pork was really tender and flavorful; sauce wasn't over powering and allowed the meat to stand out. The mac and cheese was too artificial cheesey, Cole Slaw was great, butter corn should be removed from the menu as it's horrible. I strongly suggest that the business order extra of the special; I wanted the pulled pork bake potatoe however my order and hour and a have prior to closing wasn't available. read more

Good news first such a wonderful location and view. Bad news I didn't taste any smoke on the ribs or brisket and there was no smoke ring and for $25 a plate I felt robbed. The garlic corn was way too salty and the beans were ok. read more

Excellent barbecue. Ribs and brisket tasty and tender. Sauce is spicy enough and tangy. Sides of potato salad, corn, and coleslaw were excellent. Only down side is the flan which was more like cheesecake than the caramel-laced custard of this classic dish. We will pass on the flan, while returning soon for the barbecue. read more

This bbq is hands down the best bbq in the entire Bay Area. The brisket and ribs make you want to keep coming back. Not to mention the mac n cheese and bbq beans. Hard to find someone smoking their meats with real wood and not pellets. You can taste the difference. Do yourself a favor and Go treat yourself one time. Perfect BBQ! Ribs, hot link, pulled pork were delicious. Generous portions, sides were good, too. Hubby would have liked a hotter link, but the flavor is all there. I will start by saying I am not typically a big BBQ plate fan. BUT this was AMAZING. Such a hidden gem. My husband loves BBQ & so we stopped by on a whim. I got the Brisket, coleslaw & potato salad. I have never had better Brisket, the flavor & sauce had just enough spice & it just melted in my mouth. I mean perfection! My husband had the links & Ribs & those were equally amazing! I also got the coconut cheesecake. Soooo yummy! I text 3 people the info by the time I even left the parking lot. Also a cool spot, with a great view. We will for sure be back! read more

Excellent BBQ! Their sauce is very good. Right now they are open Thursday - Sunday for dinner. I have tried the pulled pork which is very tender and smoky delicious. Their brisket is tasty, but they don't offer to have you select either a fatty cut or a lean cut and I like lean. Their sides are routine and predictable. The mac-n-cheese is my favorite. The potato salad is rather bland, and the Cole slaw has a funny off-taste rather than it being creamy. Their BBQ beans are spicy. Hope that their menu grows over time and that the quality of the sides improves. The owner is very nice and it's pleasant to order from them. Glad there are more restaurants in the Marina District of Richmond because the population there can support many more restaurants than exist. read more

We usually get flyers that remind us that Shaw's will be in town the week before and my pops-in-law already had a plan to grab a ton of ribs and sides. This past weekend I found myself getting down and dirty with these tender, flavorful bbq pork ribs, mac n cheese, and of course the Filipinx side of me had to add some rice. Delicious experience and love the support for local businesses. Next time, I gotta try my other favorite, brisket!

The moment you walk in, you're welcomed with good music, high ceilings, handmade artwork, and a clean modern design with bold colors. Even their flooring subtly guides you toward the front counter. It's one of those spaces that just feels intentional and an overall great vibe. Our standout drinks were the matcha with cold foam and the double espresso from Ethiopia. The espresso was smooth, bright, and something we'd order again. Whether you're looking for a place to work, study, coffee catch-up or stop by after a walk around the neighborhood, this is a great spot. They even have wireless charging built right into the countertops, which was a nice touch. Big thanks to Josh for the great customer service and making us feel welcome.
