The menu had a ton of great options, which made it easy to find something interesting. We ordered three bagels, but the wait was frustrating. It took about 30 minutes to get our order, and I had to ask the staff twice if it was still coming while people who ordered after us were already getting their food. They also forgot to toast my bagel. I ordered the bacon sriracha schmear, which sounded better than it tasted. It was fine, but it lacked flavor and didn't really stand out. Overall, it was good, but not great. For New York City, I'd put it solidly below average.

Large assortment of delicious bagels and so many homemade cream cheese choices make this a favorite bagel store. Friendly customer service and very well run. Long lines move quickly. Store is very clean and offers breakfast and lunch sandwiches that look fantastic. French Toast bagel was my favorite and I definitely recommend if you're on the hunt for great bagels do stop in.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a quick bite to eat and we both really enjoyed our salt bagel and bagel sandwich. I really wish we picked out a different sandwich option though because we got the sirloin egg and cheese and the sirloin really was not great, just had zero flavor. Otherwise this place was great and I would love to come back and try out some different menu items!

I stopped here on a Tuesday morning around 11am. It was busy, but not packed. I ordered the Garret Jones, which had egg white, chicken sausage, onion, and spinach, on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel. My order came out quickly. It was good, although I would probably try a different sandwich next time. The bagels are really fluffy and flavorful: a dream NYC bagel! There is limited bar seating by the window and a few long high top tables with stools. I wouldn't really sit and linger here, but if you need to stop and eat your food, it gets the job done. The music was all late '00s and early '10s- quite an ambiance!

Solidddd nyc bagel spot!! Their cream cheeses are superior. I LOVE sun-dried tomato cc and the way they make theirs is so perfect and well mixed. Other places will have huge chunks of tomato in it but theirs is so finely chopped and incorporated. They accidentally gave me scallion but they corrected it. We're all human everyone! Let's be nice AND realistic in the reviews guys !!! They're booming and busy but their quality never fails. I love their bagels so much!

as a bagel connoisseur... absolutely magnificent! i tried the weezer (personal favourite; the runny egg with cheese, crunchy toasted sesame bagel, spicy chorizo, bacon...) and the lox -- more so refreshing for sure! on an everything bagel with dill cream cheese. am going to come back again and again 11/10

Tompkins Square Bagels at any location is now my favorite bagel shop. It was before I got sick and had emergency surgery that I picked up an Everything Bagel to take home. Today my daughter had half for lunch and I had a very baby bite. I'm posting pictures of the other Tompkins Square Bagels I've enjoyed this year. I hope my surgeon is right because he said I'd be able to eat my favorite bagel again someday. In the meantime please visit Tompkins Square Bagels especially my home location on the Upper East Side!!

At nearly $12, the bagel with lox spread, onions, and capers felt overpriced given the portion size. Compared to other New York bagel shops--such as Tal Bagels, where you receive a noticeably more generous amount of cream cheese for less--the spread here was applied very sparingly. As someone accustomed to New York bagels being generously layered with cream cheese, this was disappointing. Additionally, the customer service felt quite impersonal. The cashier simply collected the ticket without any greeting or interaction, which was surprising. A brief acknowledgment or friendly exchange can make a meaningful difference in the overall experience, and in this case, the lack of engagement detracted from what could have been a more welcoming visit.

This place is so hype and I can get it but it just wasn't the best tasting nor was it a great experience ordering just because there are so many people. I will admit that their operation is impressive in terms of efficiency. Food: Blueberry bagel with blueberry spread: very solid bagel and delicious spread Murray the cop with bacon: fantastic sandwich but expensive. Another patron recommended adding bacon which definitely made it better. Strongly recommend this if you're looking for something hearty. Everything bagel with jalapeño cheese spread: pretty disappointing with minimal jalapeño taste. Tastes like just plain cream cheese with cheese Blueberry bagel with cookie dough spread: this was also pretty disappointing. It just seemed overly sweet and didn't taste like cookie dough. Although we were disappointed by some of the choices, the quality of the food is still good, so I would just make different choices next time! Probably not worth all of the hype but still worth a visit. I would strongly recommend visiting in off hours, as we only had to wait 20 min.

I have previously enjoyed Tompkins Square bagels but today was not that day. I ordered an egg everything with bacon scallion cream cheese and a salt bagel. That's it. I specifically said not toasted. They toasted both bagels. How do you ruin a fresh delicious bagel? By toasting it. Sad face.

Tompkins Square Bagels is famous for good reason. I came on a Saturday morning and there was a pretty significant line, but it moved fast. There were some people eating there, but most people seemed to be taking their food to go. Very casual spot, with a nice charm. I almost wish I tried a plain bagel to get a real feel for the flavor, but I went for a sandwich instead, which was very solid. Best bagels in NYC? I don't think so... but still quite good.

Must try: The Koch and French Toast! Why: Since it was my first time and the line was super long, I decided on trying two bagels! Loved The Koch with pastrami, egg, scallion cream cheese and onion - tons of flavor and textures in each bite. It's not often I get pastrami in my bagel so I'm glad I tried. Also, the sign out front said they had a French Toast Bagel special, which screamed at me so I got BEC as a recommendation from worker. It was delicious esp the melted cheese. Def coming back for more, and they have a location on UES. Notes: I was walking to Union Square subway station and noticed many people eating bagels from TSB so just had to stop in and try. It was packed with a long line inside all the way to front door. They had workers taking orders in line. Mine was helpful since it was my first time and I wanted recommendations. After ordering I had a fun time observing the ambiance, decor, menu, and huge cream cheese selection. Also, observed the kitchen. All seemed like controlled chaos! Cashiers seemed stressed in the business and were not as welcoming as workers taking orders in line. Overall, I thought it was worth the wait. I got my bagels and Mango Lemonade and went back to the Union Square public area with tables, chairs, and umbrellas to enjoy breakfast while people watching. Lovely way to spend a weekend morning!

A NYC trip is not complete without getting a bagel sandwich! Since I've been to Russ & Daughters already, I was looking forward to trying Tompkins Square Bagels. I ordered a plain bagel with plain cream cheese (opted for light on the cream cheese), and adding Nova Scotia Lox and red onion. Overall, I thought the bagel sandwich was very good, however I definitely did not get the light cream cheese I ordered. It was more like extra cream cheese, as my friends got normal cream cheese and had less than mine. Also, if you're not super hungry, I would recommend sharing a bagel sandwich, as they are a pretty good size! Overall, I think it was a good bagel spot, and tons of choices of bagel varieties and toppings you can add.

FOOD: We ordered a bag of 3 bagels-- everything, poppy seed & salt. The bagels were cute, medium sized and served warm/hot. We chose the scallion cream cheese which came in a lil container. Apparently the bagels are not made in the traditional manner, but they were still delicious with great texture and taste. We also ordered the tea (ok) and strawberry lemonade (yum). We enjoyed our bagels on the little countertop area outside. OVERALL: Definitely recommend! A different bagel experience than some other places (as in, those places where you are served bagels topped with cream cheese and other things) but we enjoyed the simplicity of the bagels and controlling the amount of cream cheese.

You cannot order a single bagel, you must order your bagels in 3s. So if you're not a big back and instead are a loser with no friends, you might have more bagels than you can eat. The bagels come whole and you're supposed to rip them and dip them into the cream cheese, and there's many smears to choose from, which is a plus. However, this requires a two hand situation, which means it's difficult to eat on the go, and the seating inside is limited. I did not realize this at first and I was trying to slice my bagel in half with a butter knife, and I failed and started ripping it to shreds in a fit of passion and rage. That when I saw their neon sign that says "GRIP. RIP. DIP," which sounds sexual, and realized that's the concept and intention. My advice--if you're gonna visit, come with a couple friends so you can try the bagels without having to eat 3. And bring hand sanitizer so you're not ripping up the bagel with your filthy subway fingers.
