Tompkins Square Bagel is schmear heaven! They have all kinds and so many different varieties. What drew me here was their honey fig schmear! They gave samples of their schmears which were also delicious but the honey fig was hands down the best. I got this with an everything bagel and it was amazing. The bagels itself were nothing special but they were still pretty good. They do put a lot of schmear, which i did not mind, but it got messy. My husband got a breakfast sandwich that was good but again, the schmear options here were the star players for me. There was a small line that moved pretty quickly but it's confusing to find the line since there's quite a bit of people standing around the entrance waiting for their order. I stopped here on a Tuesday morning around 11am. It was busy, but not packed. I ordered the Garret Jones, which had egg white, chicken sausage, onion, and spinach, on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel. My order came out quickly. It was good, although I would probably try a different sandwich next time. The bagels are really fluffy and flavorful: a dream NYC bagel! There is limited bar seating by the window and a few long high top tables with stools. I wouldn't really sit and linger here, but if you need to stop and eat your food, it gets the job done. Must try: The Koch and French Toast! Why: Since it was my first time and the line was super long, I decided on trying two bagels! It was packed with a long line inside all the way to front door. They had workers taking orders in line. Mine was helpful since it was my first time and I wanted recommendations. After ordering I had a fun time observing the ambiance, decor, menu, and huge cream cheese selection. Also, observed the kitchen. All seemed like controlled chaos! I ordered a plain bagel with plain cream cheese (opted for light on the cream cheese), and adding Nova Scotia Lox and red onion. Overall, I thought the bagel sandwich was very good, however I definitely did not get the light cream cheese I ordered. It was more like extra cream cheese, as my friends got normal cream cheese and had less than mine. Also, if you're not super hungry, I would recommend sharing a bagel sandwich, as they are a pretty good size! I think their bagels which strike a good balance between bready and chewy but not too doughy so they'd do best as a sandwich.
