We bought our RV from them a few years ago and paid extra (the price) for an extended warranty which has turned out to be about as worthless as their customer service. They do the bare minimum, never go above and beyond, and almost always take the cheapest route possible just to get you out the door only for you to come right back with the same issue. Don't expect a proactive call. You'll be the one chasing them, and when you finally do get through **after weeks of silence**, somehow the repair is magically "done." Keep your guards up, ladies!! Shady dealerships are still alive and well. I've bought my last few cars at Carmax/Carvana and always had a great experience with them since they are national dealers focused on high volume, not screwing over customers. Since Tom's is part of a national dealer (Blue Compass), I thought they would have similar standards and so I had my guard down. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. If you want to be lied to from sales on the quality of an RV (everything works, no leaks), this is your place! In addition, they check absolutely nothing on their $1,500 PDI that is required as part of the purchase. The stuff I asked to be done on my pre-purchase agreement wasn't done when I got there. And, in the first 30 days, I kid you not, there was probably $10,000 worth of fixes that were needed: new converter, new hot water heater, new toilet, new sink, new skylights, multiple leaks (with the carpet now coming off the ceiling), and a lot more. Honestly the thing that made me maddest is that they sent me home on tires that were only full at 30 PSI when the tires are supposed to be 80 PSI! This is disrespectful, negligent, and shows absolutely no care for their customer whether I live or die in an accident on the way home; as long as I have signed the paperwork and driven off the lot, they are good. Thankfully I bought the extended warranty and the dealership has to cover the fixes in the first 30 days (so use the heck out of it during that time period)! The best thing Tom's did was not argue with me on most (not all) the fixes and get me setup for these fixes at another local Blue Compass (closer to my house) where they fixed things right. Even that Blue Compass was like, "who the heck is Tom's?, what jerk sold you this RV? and, what amateur service department was working on it?" And, while I appreciate Tom's getting me set up with them for these fixes, all of this should have been done on Day 1 if "everything works and there's no leaks." I also got my floors done at Tom's before taking the rig home to get rid of the old carpet. They looked good at first; however, the slide apparently needs adjusted so they have been getting scraped BAD. And, when I had to get a new toilet, the floors weren't completed all the way so I now have a hole in my floor. Cool. Needless to say, I highly recommend shopping elsewhere! If you do find one you want here, get a third-party inspection as theirs is worthless and absolutely do not leave without an extended warranty. You can cancel the warranty later after you learn your RV, get things fixed, and trust it. Had I not gotten it, I would have been seriously screwed. (FYI extended warranties are not available on units older than 15 years so keep that in mind.) Anddddd should the GM wish to take accountability for my remaining issues and call me instead of Tom's ignoring me, I will be happy to re-consider my review. read more

I know the market is pretty bare and are in demand but at least wanted to discuss the model we are looking for and possibly how to order/secure one. Walked in front door and a sales rep was less that thrilled to come talk to us. When asked about info was basically dismissed and told "we don't have anything to show you". Ok. I get that but can we discuss how to get one? "Nope. But we have a (insert make/model here) in back you can look at". Oh cool. Was told to go out back for and it's in back. They turn around and walk away. Uh ok. So go in back and finally find the one he's talking about. Used and abused, dirty, falling apart. We turned around and walked out. No help. Nothing. WOW! What a great experience at Tom's Camperland and opposite of the last experience we had buying an RV from another dealership. I expected to haggle with them on the price but they were very fair on the trade in I had and they were fair in the asking price of the trailer I was interested in purchasing. I was going to ask about getting a new battery and top off the propane and before I could ask, Kyle told me what they do in going over the trailer before a customer takes delivery of an RV and those were part of what they did. Towed our trailer down there at the beginning of the week and looked at the trailer I was interested in. Used trailer, few minor issues over-all very good condition. They were able to get the new trailer in for service/cleanup in the next few days I came down at the end of the week to pick up the new trailer. The finance experience went very smooth thanks to Mark and took way less time than any other car or RV dealership that I have ever had experience with. The walk-around on the trailer went great, and the folks in the service department were very helpful in answering any questions I had and allowed me to take my time to make sure everything was working. They also included an RV starter kit with the purchase. This included some essentials that one would need to get started. I have all of the stuff that was in the kit due to owning a trailer previously, but I had to pay for everything because the previous dealership I bought from didn't include anything. I booked my appointment back in January 2022 for March 18, 2022. I gathered my warranty info & email all to CSR, Hilary on February 22, 2022 requesting that she please validate what I sent and have everything set for my toilet to be replaced under that warranty. I called her on Monday, March 14th to make sure she had everything set. Sadly she tells me she didn't have any thing set & her warranty handler was out but she would check with him on Tuesday & call me. No call from her today. My issue - she's had 3 weeks + to get this done. I am trying to be understanding by doing things in advance & giving this company plenty of time to get this done. Not only was something as simple as the oil being thousands of miles overdue and NOT changed, but other things were not even addressed. I want to share our experience with Tom's Camperland following our purchase of a travel trailer in Jan-2022. After our first trip we noticed an issue with one wheel. As everyone knows, service schedules are full and there is an extended wait. Looking at the wheel and communicating with the service team (Michael Erickson), Michael asked we bring the trailer by before our next trip to make sure all is good. After inspection, the issue was much worse (manufacturing defect) and could have led to catastrophic failure of the wheel hub. The service crew (Jameson and a service tech - sorry, forgot his name) took the extra effort to fix the problem fully and inspect the other wheel/hub to ensure there were no other issues. I had a very poor experience with Tom's Camperland. I found them to be dishonest and lack integrity in the way they do business. I personally will be avoiding them in the future, and would recommend exercising caution when purchasing anything used from them. They had a used 2007 Winnebago View with 79,000 miles for $49,995 listed on RVTrader. I sent a cash offer and received a counter offer of $46,000. We visited the dealership and were informed we were seeing the RV before the dealer had the chance to do their inspection. There were a number of issues, many of which were to be expected with a 14 year old RV. We expected to do some minor repairs and did not expect it to be in perfect condition. Things such as broken blinds and window coverings, holes in interior walls where things had been mounted, holes in upholstery, broken exterior side marker lights, and moderate exterior oxidation/faded decals were all acceptable to us. We sat down with Mike McFadden to arrange the purchase. We agreed on a purchase price of $46,000 or approx. $51,400 OTD after taxes and fees with the contingency that 1. The automatic step motor be fixed. 2. The hubcaps (which were in the RV) be installed 3. The roof vent cover be replaced (currently the roof vent cover was completely missing, meaning the RV had a 14"x14" open hole in the roof, wide open for water and air to come in) 4. The dash AC be evaluated( they made it clear it wouldn't be replaced, just evaluated and charged if needed). We agreed to this, paid a $4,000 deposit and set up pickup for the following Friday after the repairs were completed. Our delivery appointment was set for 1 pm on Friday, we had to wait 2 hours while the repairs were being completed, which was inconvenient but not a problem, we understand things happen. When we were able to do our final inspection we found that instead of installing the proper roof vent cover, they took the roof vent cover off another 2010 Winnebago view they already had on the lot. The parts are not compatible so they proceeded to use silicone and sealant tape to seal the edges. The oem roof vent cover is supposed to be able open and tilt, their fix did not even fit the RV and was just sealed to the roof. On top of that, the dash AC was not addressed and the hubcaps were not installed. When discovered, we told Mike we found the roof vent cover repair unacceptable. We were willing to overlook the dash AC and hubcaps but would like the proper vent cover ordered and replaced. He informed us they were unable to do that because it is a $1,200 part and that we would be responsible for the cost. I reminded him that we agreed on terms and a price and that I didn't think I was being unreasonable for not accepting a half-assed repair. He told us this was all they could do. Not only did the "repair" not give the original function of the vent, it also seemed to be a safety hazard, preventing it from being a possible emergency exit. It's the type of repair I would expect a private party to do in their garage, not a large dealership. Also, makes you question how thorough their "inspection" of all the other systems is. Ultimately, we decided not to go thru with the purchase, and requested a refund, mostly based on principle and integrity. We shook hands and agreed on terms and a price. Not only did they not follow thru with the repairs they agreed to, they tried to cover up a half assed repair just to save $1,200. Did they sell themselves short when they accepted an offer for $46,000? Possibly. Did they agree to repairs before evaluating the cost just to close a deal? Yes. What they should've done is recognized their mistake, stuck to their word, made it right by the customer, and eaten the $1,200 cost to repair correctly. They would've gained a customer for routine maintenance and would've been the first stop when it was time to upgrade to a newer RV. Instead they've alienated a customer and made sure they'll never be back. read more

Someone from the family may still have some ownership but the primary ownership is RV Retailers LLC and they are backed by Redwood Capital. Many layers to both of these companies. Caveat Emptor Purchased a RV from them on 1/17/20, picked up and paid cash on 2/25/20, it is now 81 days later and we do not have license or title! We paid for lic., title, upgrades, redoing upgrades, more upgrades and insurance for 3 months on a vehicle we do not legally own and can not drive! According to AZ statutes #28-4409 they have broken the law. They have sold us a vehicle they did not own and apparently can't get title to, and refuse to respond to our inquires. Do not believe the lies, this is the most unorganized dishonest RV sales company we have ever worked with. From the sales to the finance to the prep and licensing to follow-up and refunding money. We spent $77000 in October, we have good credit so that wasn't an issue. From poop in the toilet to no valve stem cover to a flat in the rear dully and no propane in the tank all the prep and safety was in the contract, We purchased in October they did not send the plates until January and than sent two seperate registrations and different plates. My husband is a 100% disabled Vietnam Veteran, we live in a county that does not require an Emmision certification. They wouldn't give us the paper work to license ourselves. In their county they have to smog. They sent a driver to pick up our coach and take back to their county and smog and than send the plates. We were told in October dmv had the info but because of covid it would take a while. We were promised a refund of the tax and license in December. I sent an email in late February and told by the general manager that they sent the check to the incorrect address and blamed ups, funny the address did not exist and than GM said it will take months again be patient.... really. I have tried to contract cooperate without luck, called another GM at Mesa and unable to help. The warranty.....just as bad, hopefully I can get some of that $5000 back. Six months ago our family bought a 22-year-old motorhome for our family. Obviously a used 22 year old motorhome is going to need a little TLC every now and again which requires parts. Trying to get parts from this company is nothing short of impossible. They can't sell anything if they don't answer the phone. It's a bit of a trek for me to go into the store just to get prices on a few products or to check to see if it's even in stock. So, I tried calling first to see if they have it or if they have to order it, but nobody answers the phone!!! The nice gal at the front desk offers to take a message but a return call is two or three days later. Too late! By that point I've already ordered it from Amazon! I try to give the business to local companies but I'm not going to wait days for a return call. Here's a hint guys, if nobody answers the phone you're losing business. Lots of it!!! Don't get me wrong, the people who work there are nice enough and helpful enough, they just don't have anywhere near enough of them. Research, research, research. When I began my journey to become a nomad I had no idea where to begin so I watched YouTube videos for a year. So many portable home choices to consider: class A, class B, class C, fifth wheels, travel trailers, truck campers. Fortunately, there are some very helpful channels by full-time RV'ers who offer advice to newbies. Do your homework. There are also many videos made by regretful people who chose the wrong type of home on wheels. After deciding that I needed a truck camper, I began watching videos for this segment and visiting various manufacturer websites. Enter Tom's Camperland. The Host Industries website lists Tom's as a dealer of Host truck campers. I also read many reviews of Tom's on Yelp. Tom's has many happy customers. I contacted Tom's via email with a few general questions. Allen, the General Manager (?), answered my concerns within 24 hours. After the initial contact, Allen became my go-to for silly questions ("you guys sell propane toilets, right?"). I spent the summer of 2019 locating the proper truck for a truck camper and Allen checked in with me on a weekly basis during the process. That meant a lot. He was serious about staying in touch. At this point I should mention that I live in Denver, Colorado and Tom's Camperland is in Phoenix, Arizona. That's an 865 mile drive. As November rolled around, I was ready to purchase and drove to Phoenix in my 2005 Dodge 3500 dually diesel. Mike McFadden shook my hand upon arrival and immediately began showing me Tom's selection of truck campers. That was day 1-look, but don't buy. I visited two of the three Tom's locations. Each location features selections by different manufacturers. On day 2 I asked Mike for his advice on which camper he would most like to own. To my surprise, he didn't push the brand that he owns. Instead, Mike showed me a camper that is, essentially, leak-proof due to the construction process. It was also substantially cheaper than the Host camper I was considering. Don't get me wrong, Host makes big, beautiful truck campers with 17 slide outs and enough interior room for hopscotch and back handsprings (stick the landing!), but their construction is typical. Think seams... I purchased a 2019 Northern Lite 10-2 truck camper and, while Mike was generating the paperwork, struck up a conversation with Angela at the front desk. Angela has lived in Phoenix since the dawn of forever. She's the glue that holds everything together at Tom's. Need a place to stay overnight in Phoenix? How about a nice restaurant? Want to learn how to build fire-breathing snowmen in the desert? Ask Angela. Great lady, very personable. Day 3 involved orientation. Once you purchase a home on wheels, you need to familiarize yourself with the various onboard systems: propane, solar, and batteries. Adan is the man who provides you with the answers to all of your questions. He educated me very well. Never mind that I forgot most of what he told me! Adan told me to text him if I had any future questions. I have, and he's always answered my concerns satisfactorily. Mike McFadden has also refused to stop answering my questions after the sale. These are great people who love what they do, and love America. TIP: Ask questions and/or take notes, or better yet, use your phone to record the orientation. Adan isn't camera-shy. You can't go wrong when shopping at Tom's Camperland, folks. Be very careful in doing business with this company. In February, 2022 I purchased a used class B+ motorhome, paid cash($54K) and delivery fee to have this delivered to my home in Yuma. I chose this company as I had purchased a travel trailer from their location on Grand avenue in 2016 and had a very positive experience. I was assured by the sales person Vince, that the RV would be checked out and that all systems would be in working order, I knew this as sold "as is", however, just wanted to make sure all systems were in working order at delivery. There were many problems, listed next: -Main patio awning did not and could not work as parts were missing from the support arms. -Convection wiring was not to any code and wired into a blue outlet box under the burner, that box laying on top of the oven, and then wired into an extension cord to the outlet under the stove. -The bed lift mechanics fcould not have worked, and came completely apart upon first inspection and had to be removed and completely rebuilt. -The engine gas fill door fell off during transportation. -The passenger tail light was broken upon arrival. -The tv and antenna wiring was "duct taped" together which is a fire hazzard. -The storage door on the rear side of the dinette came off and the framd separated upon the first extension of the slide. -The tires were completed under inflated, the tires and the info tag in the cab door clearly state 80 psi, and none were above 40 psi. In addition, no documents nor registration, licensing, bill of sale, receipt showing taxes and registration fees have been paid to ADOT, have been received as of March 18th(Feb 16th email from Vince, "The registration information and the rest of the paperwork will be getting delivered tomorrow with the unit."), more than thirty days now after delivery of same even though requests have been made. Just Monday, 3/14 I again asked for these docements and was told that an email was sent to the title department for action. ??? 5 days ???? This morning, I received and email from Vince stating that he had been off, and that he would email title dept. again for this info. read more

I live in the Bay and ordered a win-door for my camper so I could be set for a 5 month long cross country camping trip. There was a miscommunication with the order and I received the win-door missing a slider. I called Tom's Camperland up and the GM/manager (I forgot to ask his name) was incredibly helpful in offering me alternative means of achieving the same result of a cross breeze without a slider. Stay clear of Toms. Bought our first Teardrop before Covid from Toms in Mesa only kept it 4 months as we discovered we needed bigger. Bought a TT in the middle of Covid. bought it from Toms in Surprise AZ from the day we pulled out we had issues starting with a bad recalled toilet they refused to replace. We ended up paying for a new toilet that later we were refunded iby the manufacture because it was recalled. We had horrible service there so the next time our TT had to go in we took it to Toms Avondale and had ok service. However our trailer was damaged while on there lot. Again today it sits on there lot for 2 weeks untouched for a AC issue. We were told it would be done yesterday then today told tomorrow. We went to check on it today and yet again more damage like something hit it on their lot. Talk to the manager he told us when rigs sit here for more then 2 weeks damage is Likely to happen because they are so packed in. The lot is a hot mess with crap all over it.. This was the worst company I've ever done business with. When I walked into this place six months ago the sales associates were so rude and didn't even want to do business with me. Inventory was scarce around town so I went back because they had a travel trailer under 20,000. I of course should've never bought from them and I did. My travel trailer black tank was not emptied. They didn't even clean out the black tank. I come to find out my travel trailer was taped together inside the slide outs where the motors are. They taped electrical tape on top of the slide out motors. There's a hole in the roof that was re-patched and a leakage in the electrical system. I would give this place negative stars if I could. I've contacted them I was told that they would help me and I sent pictures only to receive no response. This company is a fraud and doesn't deserve to be in business. Doug at Tom's Camperland made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. The staff made me feel welcome and there was no pressure, at the same time they didn't make me feel like they were ignoring me. Overall it was the best experience I've had with a vehicle type purchase. Even after the purchase when I noticed something was wrong, which wasn't there fault because it was used camper, they sent me the part free of charge. Kyle was great and prompt when answering any email questions I had before I went in to look at anything. Watch out for Adam!! Had a good experience at the dealership with everyone except the salesman Adam. I purchased a plane ticket to see the heartland big country 3900flp. Adam lied to me telling me this this unit was prewired for a generator and had smart tv's throughout. I could tell Adam easily grew short on patience over the phone. But they we're willing to knock the price down to $44,300. After paying for a plane ticket I flew there to see it. There we're so many things wrong with this 5th wheel and that's also when I found out Adam had lied to me. Then he had the nerve to attempt to pressure me into buying it. He was very arrogant and immature to say the least and got angry when I told him I didn't want it. He didn't hesitate to give me back my $500 reservation fee which is good but that's because Mike the mgr promised a refund. Both managers there were great to work with. Then I told Adam I wanted to see what else they had on their lot and he quickly told me there would be a $5,000 non refundable deposit if I found anything I wanted LOL Then he went on to share what he told me with coworkers and they were glancing over at me and laughing. Adam was so angry because I didn't want to buy that 5th wheel. He's a young 23 yr old kid that really needs to find a different job. He'd probably be a good politician or maybe a lawyer but sales is definitely not the answer. What a jerk!! The management, finance lady and the nice guy that did the walkthrough with me were all wonderful. But if you call and Adam picks up the phone ask to speak with a different sales person. He will lie to you even if he knows you're flying all the way there. I should have asked them to reimburse my plane ticket because if I knew the unit wasn't prewired for a generator I wouldn't have went. Also the living room carpet was so disgusting it made me nauseous. There's also damage to the back slide and issues with the wires on the front slide. I knew about the damage to the recliners because I could see it in the picture and Mike was very nice to bring down the price. But when I was talking with impatient Adam on the phone I also asked him about other problems there might be and he failed to mention the accident with the back slide. After the walkthrough Adam said they would fix everything but by that point I couldn't believe a word he said. The dealership is great except for Adam, the sales guy that will lie to you without hesitation. By the end of my inspection of this unit I had a list of several things that needed to be fixed aside from what I mentioned. But Adam was the worst part of my experience. Plus the cost of the plane ticket was a waste of my money because of his lies.  I recommend Tom's  Camperland but NOT ADAM. read more

Just purchased a travel trailer from Tom's and it was an awesome experience. When we first arrived we were approached by Doug who was more than happy to show us (and our two dogs) all around to different trailers that would be perfect for us. We eventually found the perfect fit, and he made the entire process so smooth and easy. We (our dogs included) were treated very well and I would highly recommend Tom's Camperland in Phoenix and Doug to anyone! read more
