Four stars because the dine-in experience isn't great. They serve the dishes in plastic to-go containers even if you're dining in. I got a paper plate for my soupy curry which was just not ideal. Eating hot soup out of a plastic container is just unpleasant and I'm increasingly away of microplastics leaching into food when flimsy containers are super-heated. Thai Shack East won't serve you tap water to drink, but also won't allow you to bring in your own water to drink, so you have no choice but to buy a bottle of water. If we went here again we'd do takeout only so I could bring it home and eat out of a ceramic bowl with a real fork and drink free water from my sink. But the flavor is really worth it.
